The painful dawn. (Open.)
As the sun was rising scream echoed the street. They lasted for nearly ten minutes. By the time anyone would reach the alley all a person would see is a man with sliver colored hair and wearing black muscle shirt that shows his stomach and tan pants and black bike gloves that go up to his elbows but only reaches to two inches before his elbows. The guy also has on black combat boots.

But a person would only see him holding one hand to his eyes and the other over his mouth. The guy was on his knees. He had just straightened up when he thought he heard someone comming.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
It was early morning, just after the sun had risen. The cool, morning grey of the sunrise fell upon the city, hidden only by the shadows of some of the taller buildings. Downtown Buffalo was crowded with people, even at such odd hours of the day; but it also had shops. And the items sold by these shops were a draw to even the most hermit-like of people, so that one could see anything as they walked down the street. It was a strange place to be, with many strange sights. Most people that were easily scareable would not enjoy a trip downtown...

But Saori was one of the people drawn by the shops. She was in search of a specific item, something that was very important to her, which she felt the need to buy. And, as she was an early riser, she had set out on her journey before the sun had even risen. She was hoping that it would be less crowded, and she would not have to be around people quite as much. She was very wrong, as she soon found out.

As the poor girl wandered down the street, now lost and confused and alone, her wide, scared eyes wandered back and forth around her, as if like a frightened animal, trying to avoid a predator. her feet carried her quickly, and her hands remained clasped together upon her upper chest. She was obviously very afraid of the mass amounts of people around her. And every time she saw a person look at her - which was quite often, as she was very cute - she squeaked in fright, worried that the person was making fun of her in her head - or worse, they might try to harm her! So she would pick up her pace.

And then, a scream came from an alleyway up ahead. Saori jumped at the noise, completely scared to death. The wind around her picked up, swirling quickly, aimlessly, shifting directions in a very unnatural way, reflecting the girl's mood. She stopped dead in her tracks, looking straight ahead for a few moments, obviously contemplating whether to go on. When she looked around, seeing the people all around her, she made up her mind: the people seemed to thin out up ahead.

She walked forward. By the time she passed the alleyway, she was the only one around; everyone else had run away from the scream. But naive little Saori kept on going, not knowing what it could be. She began to ease up, finding she was the only person around. Her body stopped shaking, her muscles untensed, and the wind even calmed down drastically. But her eyes continued to look everywhere; even down the alley, where they met with another boy's eyes. She blinked, stopped, and then her eyes widened, and she squeaked, running on ahead, to hide from him behind the wall.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
To think, the metropolitan area sections off all its most popular resertaunts and shops in one corner of the town, and yet Darrien was just experiencing his first trip through the area. Lining the streets he walked were expensive clothing stores, sushi bars, internet cafes, pretty much anything you could ever need to have at the ready is right here.

Taking a turn into a hat store, Darrien marveled at the styles available here he had never seen around home. The linen kakhi suit he was ever so fond of on these warm days was lacking something, he only brought two hats with him to this school and neither seemed to go well with the ensemble.

So many choices he thought. The red would go well with my evening wear, but it's too bright for this suit. An orange bowler hat caught his eye, but he soon dismissed the idea for the purchase when he realized he was supposed to watch his spending. Then, he saw it. Not anything in the front, certainly this was a private stock item, or a bit of clearance trash, either way, however, Darrien had found what he was looking for.

Gathering a collection of green, blue, pink, red, orange, and purple hat bands, he walked to the counter. "How much for the magician's top hat behind you?" he asked the clerk.

Taken aback at the boy's interest in the item, the clerk stroked his chin a moment. No one had ever inquired about this particular item, mainly because it wasn't considered classy or stylish by any popular means. "I can sell that to ya for eightyfive." he said flatly, trying to hide his scorn for the boy.

The look in the man's eyes conveyed uncertainty, this sent Darrien in for the kill. "Tell ya what, I'll pay ya seventy for it and the bands, and you can tell people you sold it to me when you read about me in the papers."

A sharp glare took over the clerk's face as this cocky kid tried bartering with him. "I won't go any lower than seventy-five, and the bands are five a piece."

Not paying attention to the smug look on the clerk's face, Darrien had already hooked the hat with a hanger and wrapped the orange band around it to match his shirt. He tossed eighty-five dollars on the counter, then began to walk away.

Feeling like this was a victory, the clerk didn't speak a word. He simply rang up the sale and went about his business. Shortly after Darrien left, a young couple came in, the female demanding to know if this was the store that sold that alluring young man the hat he wore, and if he could work his same magic on her fiance. This was possibly the most jaw dropping incident of the clerk's life.

Meanwhile, on his way out of the store, Darrien grabbed a four and a half foot long black cane with white tips on either end. "I'll take this too, I think this makes the payment fair." So much like stealing, yes, but none would notice from what happened next.

The scream seemed to startle even the windows of the shops into shaking in a mixture of amazment and fear. Taking off running toward it, Darrien pocketted the extra hat bands. Never a dull moment around here. he thought, allowing a smug sigh escape his lips.

Then, making a sharp turn left, he saw a small framed girl cowering behind a wall. Good thing too, had he not looked up in time, she would have become a permanent part of that wall by how fast he was running. "You get a look at what made that sound?" he asked, more inetested in confronting the fiend making people scream than flirting with the young lass. He rested himself on the cane and took a second to catch his breath while he awaited the answer from the girl.

Jacob moved his hands from his eyes. and stood up. He turned and looked at the wall and though he could see a shadow around the corner. Smiling Jacob picked up his bags and walked over to there. "You know most people would have came and said what's wrong? Are you okay? or my favorite who screamed?" Jacob said as he looked at the two.

"Hmmm A girl and a Magician right?" Jacob said. "i usually nap at this time but I guess I don't mind talking to you guys." Jacob said. He was being slightly cocky. But that's how he is. Jacob has only truly been close to one person in his life.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
A voice came from behind her, and again Saori jumped. She spun around, ducked her head, and shut her eyes tight. Her mind raced; she didn't even think about what happened next. One of her arms outstretched from where her hand was clasped over her chest, and she opened her palm towards the person behind her. Immediately, a strong gust of wind burst forth, straight for Darrien's chest. Of course, unless he was caught by surprise, it was very unlikely he'd be harmed; at best, she would be able to knock him over.

When she opened up her emerald eyes, she glanced up to the boy she'd attacked. Immediately, she blushed, lowering her eyes to the concreate beneath her. She was still so very frightened, but she had to apologize. If she didn't, she'd feel terrible for attacking him. Also, she knew that this boy would find her rude and bothersome, and would hate her, even ridicule her. She didn't want to deal with that....being ridiculed was too painful.

Saori's arms fell, so that her hands clasped together in front of her knee-length skirt. She bowed, lowering her head, so that her long, thick, dark green hair fell and hung towards the ground. "G-gomen....I-I'm sorry..." She said; she used both Japanese and English, not because she thought that she should, but becaues both words were simply natural to her, as if they were both part of the same language. When she lifted herself up again, she glanced at Darrien quickly, before spinning around to run away in fright.

Just before she could escape, she heard another voice; she stumbled in fright, and fell forward, onto her hands and knees. Her eyes shut tight, as tears welled up in her eyes. She was absolutely frightened at this point; there were two boys standing over her, and she couldn't escape. What was worse, they had to think her such a klutz, and were sure to start making fun of her immediately. She rolled over into a sitting position, her knees curled underneath her. She kept her head lowered, bangs hanging over her face to cover it. She didn't want them to see her, to look at her, to think awful things about her. It was too much to handle. Her tears were beginning to spill out and dribble down her cheeks, and her face was a bright red.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
*Ooof*

The gust of wind struck Darrien's chest, momentarily robbing him of his own air. The hat he wore so proudly fell to the ground beside him. Worse of it, he didn't seem to notice or care. What just happened? She's about half my size, and she could have crushed my ribs if she were trying. This was too interesting a girl for Darrien to simply walk away from, the scream could wait on its investigation.

"Easy now darlin, no need for the water works." he said as he picked up his hat. Dusting it off quickly, he smirked toward her. Placing it back atop his head, he looked at her and said "See? No harm no foul right? Mind telling me your name?"

He then took first notice of the other man among them. Seeing a slight reflection of his own attitude in his tone, he mused at the thought of playing with his mirror. Looking back at the girl, he smiled and said "Did snow cap here scare you?" Turning back to Jacob "Don't be letting me keep you from nap time, I know how hard those are to miss." Scourn wasn't aparent in his tone, but it was there. Not looking for a fight per say, just assuming the upperhand in the situation, for his own, and the girl's sake.

"Did snow cap here scare you?"

Jacob shouldered his bags and looked at them both. The girl was different but Jacob didn't mind different. He could tell the girl was crying but he didn't know how to react to that since he doesn't remember crying himself for so long. He looked at the guy when he spoke.

"Don't be letting me keep you from nap time, I know how hard those are to miss."

Jacob glared at Darrien. He didn't much like the guy's tone nad had this of been night time he probably would have done something about it. "Sorry, but I don't just go off and nap when someone suggests it." Jacob said in almost the same tone but was a bit more relaxing. "Besides can't leave a girl crying." He added as he un zipped his tote bag and was digging around in it.

If someone was to looking his bag they would see that on top of the clothes and small am/fm radio walk men was a set of Sais that seemed to shine when the sun hit them. "Okay now where is it." He said out loud but mostly for himself to hear. "Ah-ha found it." HE said as he pulled out a small brown paper bag. The type of paper bag that candy store owners would use to put small penny candy in it. He looked at the girl. "I bought these fruit flavored tootsie rools thinking they might be good." He said. "However, they are a bit to sweet for my tastes and I would hate to throw them away." Jacob added. "Would you like them?" He asked the girl. While he didn't smile his tone was sweet and calm. The bag was almost full to the top with penny candy tootsie rolls.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
She lifted her head back, turning to look at Darrien. Her eyes were red, and tears still streamed down her cheeks, but she was sobbing less now. Even after she had attacked him, he didn't reprimand her. He didn't even ridicule her for tripping and falling down! She couldn't understand why these people were being nice to her. She blushed a little, and sniffled slightly. But she did not stand. She remained seated on the ground, in much the same position as before, knees bent, hands hovering near her face in case she needed to bury it in them once again.

And then the other boy offered her a bag of candy. She blinked a few times. By now, the sobbing had completely stopped, as her big, emerald eyes glanced between Jacob's face and the candy. One arm raised to her face, and she wiped her sweatshirt's sleeve across it, drying the tears in her eyes and on her cheeks. Once she was slightly cleaner, she looked up at him again, eyeing him cautiously.

Then, she reached out with one hand slowly, while the other came to rest just below her neck. She seemed so innocent, so cute at this moment, full of child-like innocence. Her hand reached into the bag, and her fingers wrapped around a single piece. She withdrew it, and pulled it back to her, eyeing it again, as if worried it was poisoned. After all, he might be playing a trick on her....her past experiences told her this was the likely situation.

But so far, she found the people at MHS to be less likely to do such things...

She blinked a few times, before reaching out with her other hand to unwrap the candy. After crunching up the wrapper in her palm, she stuck the candy into her mouth, and began to chew cautiously. Her eyes closed, as she focused on the taste. Was there anything wrong with it?

It was quickly obvious that the candy was fine. Her mouth filled with the sweet flavor of the fruity tootsie roll. Suddenly, she felt very happy; these boys must be kind people too! They wouldn't gain her trust so easily with candy...but she was quite happy with the candy Jacob offered nonetheless. She swallowed it, and looked up at him. A small, innocent smile crossed her face, complete with closed eyes and a tilt of the head.

A quick gesture to repair damage done, a well played move by the white haired boy. Darrien took a step back, allowing the two their space to become aquainted. Never ceases to amaze how many strange people one can meet in a day out here. he thought, a sigh escaping his lips.

"Do tell, what might your names be? I'd hate to continue calling you snow cap without knowing you. And how rude of me to approach a young lady whose name I haven't yet procured?"

With a graceful motion, he removed the hat from his head. Waving the cane over it, he made slight eye contact with the little girl. Winking his eye quickly, he chanted a few silly words. "Shimi sa shami swan!"

Nothing happened. Even Darrien wasn't sure if anything would, but it was clearly worth a try. "Dunno what I was expecting there, ta da! I guess."

"You may keep the bag of candy if you want it." He said to the small girl. He then looked at the guy when the guy spoke.

"Do tell, what might your names be? I'd hate to continue calling you snow cap without knowing you. And how rude of me to approach a young lady whose name I haven't yet procured?"

"You know Magician? I am usually not this nice to anyone but, you guys caught me on a good day." Jacob said. "Oh and my name is Jacob. Not giving out my last name just yet." He said. His tone still had the niceness in it but it also had the just tiny bit of a tone that suggested that he was protecting something. Something into which he was not going to say.

"Dunno what I was expecting there, ta da! I guess."

He raised an eyebrow at Darrien. "I think you need some practice Magician." He said.

Hisoka was just heading down the street. He wasn't really doing anything and he didn't really care where he went to. His mind was lost in thought like it always was. It was then that he heard the scream. It made his heart sink faster then the Titanic did. The only time he ever heard screams like that was when someone was either hurting or was going to get hurt.

Curse his human generaosity. Hisoka started to run to where it came from. He had came across a very small group. "Who screamed?" He asked as he was trying to catch his breath.

Re: The painful dawn. (Open.)
As the bag of candy was offered to her, Saori beamed and reached out with both hands to take it. The way she did it, her wide eyes looking up to him, she seemed full of childish innocence. Once she had the bag in her hands, she drew it back to her chest, holding it close against her, both arms wrapped in front of it to clutch it to her. For now, she didn't take any candy from it again; she simply nodded her thanks to him politely, meekly replying with, font color=green]"A-arigato..."[/font]

And then, her ears picked up the other boy's voice, asking for her name. She blinked over at him shyly, blushing a little bit, before once again averting her eyes to the ground. She was appreciative towards Jacob for the candy, and thought that Darrien was quite nice and funny, but so far they both seemed like scary strangers to her. "I-I'm Saori....pleased to meet you..." She turned and bowed slightly to him, lowered her head and closing her eyes. She would bow lower, but she would lose her candy if she did so.

He kept speaking, and she lifted her eyes to watch his "magic trick." Despite Jacob's sarcastic remark, Saori found him quite funny, and even giggled a bit, lifting one of her handds to her mouth to hide the giggle behind it. As she looked over at him, she gave him a small, cute grin, to show her thoughts on his joke.

Just as she was starting to feel more comfortable, another boy popped up behind her. Upon hearing his voice, she was startled. A loud, frightened, (yet cute) squeak slipped from her, and she scurried forward, to hide behind both Jacob and Darrien. Shyly, nervously, she peeked around from behind them, her face a deep red. Her body was shaking once again, she she remained completely silent - even noticeably from before he had arrived - while she watched him cautiously.

Jacob smiled sweetly at the girl but when Hisoka came he looked at Hisoka and remembered him from class. "Well, did you do your shopping I take it?" He asked. He then looked at Saori and gave her a sweet smile. "Don't worry Saori. He won't hurt you." Jacob said in a gentle kind sort of voice.

"He is out numbered anyways." He added. Jacob gave Hisoka a smirk. This smirk was a cocky smirk. His eyes were looking at Hisoka as if Hisoka was just a minor threat.

Darrien replaced the hat atop his head and quirked a smirk that could melt gems stones toward the newcomer. Lavishly dressed as always, his attire might suggest he was one thing, when in point of fact, he was quite another. Planting the cane to the ground and leaning to his right, he looked toward the three in front of him.

"Such a unique group, in such a unique place don't you say?" Lifting the hat from his head, he walked briskly toward Saori. "You know little one, I fear this may look better on you than it does on me." Without offering her the slightest chance to flee, he placed the hat atop her head.

Leaning back and holding his chin in his left hand, hen made several judging noises, then finally spoke. "What do you all think? Don't be too afraid to admit it looks better on her, I won't run home to cry." With that, a quick wink, and an awkward smile graced his face.

"I never thought I would see you here either." Hisoka said to Jacob. "Don't tell me you are planning on picking another fight and with other people." He added. It was easy to see that these two did not start off on a good foot. Hisoka felt the fear from the girl and he winced from it.

Saori blinked a little as Jacob spoke to her, and turned her head to let her eyes fall upon him. They were big, quite full of fear. She nodded slightly at his comment, gulping a little, before stealing a quick glance at Hisoka. Jacob's last comment - the one about him being outnumbered - scared her again, though. Why would it matter if he was outnumbered unless he intended to hurt them? A frightened (but cute) squeak escaped her again, and she ducked behind the two boys (Darrien and Jacob) in an attempt to hide from view.

But just as she ducked behind them, Darrien turned around to face her. She squeaked again, blushing madly. Her eyes met his for only a moment, wide and scared, yet full of innocence, before she looked down at her feet. Both hands were clasped together in front of her chest, and she was shaking with fright.

Suddenly, she felt something touch her head. She blinked and lifted her head back again, looking up at Darrien shyly, still blushing madly. Why was this hat on her head? She squirmed a bit, but as she listened to him speak, both to her and the others, she couldn't help but lift a hand to her lips and giggle softly. Despite the fact that she didn't think her looks were that great, she couldn't help but enjoy the compliment.

Still she was far too shy to say anything in response to his comment. So, instead of saying anything, she just looked up at him with a small, shy smile, her big, innocent eyes partially closed.

Still standing a bit apart from the rest, Darrien leaned his weight on the cane he bought from the shop earlier. His appeal hadn't been answered by either of the others around, but the young one before him looked like she was revelling in the attention Darrien had called on her.

Sliding a hand into his jacket, Darrien removed a bottle of a blue liquid and took a quick swig. "She obviously thinks I'm the goat here, and I'm with our green eyed friend here. You guys have any light to shed on the issue?"

"For your information boy it is none of your business what I do outside of class." Jacob said as he fixed his eyes on Hisoka. "And heck it is none of your business what I do in class for that matter." Jacob added. He did not take his eyes off of Hisoka until Darrien spoke.

"She obviously thinks I'm the goat here, and I'm with our green eyed friend here. You guys have any light to shed on the issue?"

Jacob ran his right hand's fingers through his own hair. "Don't worry about it." Jacob said. "Just a bit of a tiff between classmates." Jacob added. "Besides ..." He gave a sigh and looked to the Saori and gave a warm smile. THen he looked back at Hisoka. "... I don't start fights infront of little girls.Nore would I even envolve a girl of any age into a fight." Jacob said.

"She obviously thinks I'm the goat here, and I'm with our green eyed friend here. You guys have any light to shed on the issue?"

Hisoka didn't answer that but he was glad Jacob did. "Yeah what this dip stick said." Hisoka said as he pointed at Jacob. Hisoka looked like he wasn't afraid of anything. Infact he was acting like he had no sign of emotions at all.

"... I don't start fights infront of little girls.Nore would I even envolve a girl of any age into a fight."

"Well, at least you have some sense." Hisoka said. "I don't fight unless I have no choice in the matter." Hisoka said. "Beside I have to much of a busy day then to fight with you anyways." Hisoka added. He looked to Saori and knelt down to her. "I hope I didn't scare you." He said to her.

"You look really nice in thos clothes." Hisoka said. "I bet that you are real strong and could kick any person's butt if you wanted to." Hisoka added. He could tell the girl was a bit afraid even if she might not want to admit it. He gave her a warm smile.
