June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
It was growing dark out, dusk was finally settling in. The stars were starting to come out as the sun had just barely sent, although it left some hint of light remaining. It had been raining for quite sometime, stopping early afternoon today. The courtyard plant life had the smell of fresh rain water clinging to them. Small puddles were scattered about the muddy lawn and luckily curfew wasn't for quite some time.
Most people were within the warm castle. Dinner had been a couple of hours earlier and most students were trying to make the best of what time they had left before they would be confined to the Common Rooms. Mack stood underneath one of the outdoor, covered corriders, staring out into the growing darkness, the hood of her black jacket drawn up over her head.
The fifteen year old leaned lightly against one of the stoned pillars, a cigarette between her fingers hanging loosely at her left side. It was slightly foggy out and mist hung looseley in the air but Mack didn't really mind. She lifted the cigarette to her mouth, and blew out a small puff of smoke. Mack dropped the finished cigarette on the ground, and looking down at it stamped it out with her black converse.
Mack then headed out into the mist looking around the court yard, sidestepping over particulary nasty puddles. Once in a while her hand would reach out and stroke one of the benches. At a certain one she felt it, pressing both hands down onto the stone. Feeling that this one was the least wet she sat down, swung her legs over and propping them up. She laid down, hood still on, looking at the faint signs of coming stars.
It wasn't too windy which made Mack happy. She really didn't want to be in the castle right now, it was just too stuffy at the moment. As Mack stared out she placed her right elbow on the slightly cold bench, letting her hand rest on chest. Her left hand held the cigarette now and hung down off the bench unless she was taking a smoke from it.
Mack didn't expect to meet anyone out here but of course expectations weren't always met.

Alex wasn't sure what inspired her to wander outside that night, but nevertheless, she was in the courtyard after dinner, sitting on the wet ledge of the fountain. Had it really been here, all those months ago, that she had had one of her first encounters with Jereff? It seemed so strange to realize that they had started spending time with one another at the beginning of the school year, the very beginning. And then two months later they had become an "item" as fancy gossip liked to call it. And that was four months before! Four months! Alex could have hardly said that she had been in a relationship before and now she and Jereff had four months behind them and absolutley no intent to break up with one another. Well, Alex had no intention to break up with him, and she was almost 100% sure that he wasn't going to pull the "we should go separate directions" any time soon. It would have been tragic if he did.
But that was only if.
Sensing movement across the courtyard, Alex realized she wasn't alone. She wasn't sure who the retreating figure was, but once the person, most likely female judging by the shape of her, sat down on a bench and disappeared from sight, Alex figured it didn't quite matter. She could sit there, alone in her thoughts, pretending that she still had the coutyard to herself. Something about it didn't quite work the same, however, and she felt almost invaded in her space. Not that she could complain. The courtyard was public domain.
A puff of smoke emitted over the bench, and Alex found herself rather curious about the girl's actions. Allowing her curiosity to drive her, Alex stood up and walked toward the bench, peering over to catch sight of Mack Raelene, a girl in her year, puffing at a cigarette while laying on her back on the stone bench. Her interest peaked, figuring she could strike up a conversation with Mack since they had had classes together since first year. Female company wasn't her favorite kind, but Alex figured it would suffice for the moment.
"Hope you don't mind me joining," Alex said to Mack, sitting at the bench across from the Ravenclaw girl's. "Didn't think anyone else in their right mind would be outside in the rain tonight," Alex said with a slight laugh, leaning back casually into the bench.

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
Mack didn't know whe she found so much comfort in a cigarette or in solitude. She wasn't completely reliant on a cigarette to comfort or relax her and she didn't need to be by her own all the time two be happy. Sometimes the pair were just a break, a release of a type for her.
Tonight, Mack wasn't in a particulary bad mood, for once. Usually when she woud wander on her own and carry a pack of cigarettes she was in a right foul mood, but not tonight. Mack just stared up at the slightly clouded, nearly darkened sky. It was lightly raining but it didn't bother the girl too much. Chaning the weather was an impossible feat for the fifteen year old so she wouldn't complain about it.
Unlike alot of her peers Mack didn't mind being alone. Sure she loved company, one that she could stand, but being alone was nice too. There was really no inbetween for Mack; she was either with a large group of people (most likely partying) or by herself. But then one never really had a choice at all points of the day with whom they would share their company with.
Being an obersvant Ravenclaw Mack heard someone coming but didn't bother seeing who. If that person wanted to make themself known then they would, otherwise there was no point in learning who was in Mack's vacinity. So Mack made no acknowledgement or anything. Lifting her cigarette up against Mack continued to stare off.
"Hope you don't mind me joining," Alex said to Mack, sitting at the bench across from the Ravenclaw girl's. "Didn't think anyone else in their right mind would be outside in the rain tonight,"
Mack turned her head slightly, it still resting on the stone bench and turned towards the voice. There she saw a girl her age, Alex was her name, sittiing on a bench near her own. Mack just shrugged. "Why would I mind?" She said in her bored drawl as she turned her attention up toward the sky again. She didn't mean to sound rude or annoyed, that's just the way everything came out when Mack spoke casually.
"Didn't think anyone would out here either. Don't know why though" She continued in her lazy tone. "It's not raining too bad. I don't know what everyone has against the rain." She drawled out. Mack wasn't one for idle talk, but tonight she felt gracious in giving it.
"I supppose then that neither of us are in our right minds for being out here...that works for me however" Mack stated, looking back over at Alex. She then, quite suddenly, hoisted herself up, leaning bakc on her elbows. "Bored of the castle as well?" She asked.
ooc: not my best post and sorry it took a while to post....cleaning checks are brutal! hehe
Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
Once Alex made her presence known, Mack slowly turned her head to look at Alex, and said with a bored drawl, "Why would I mind?" Alex inwardly shrugged, but wasn't at all put off by Mack's bored drawl. It wasn't like Alex expected someone to jump for joy whenever she came up to them. Or show any sort of happiness for that matter. Her appreciation didn't matter, and Alex wouldn't be offended if she didn't receive any at all. That's just the way that life worked. Those peppy preppy girls that had to feed off others' approval of them would surely end first. Not that Alex would mind that scenario. Get rid of them so normal people could have room to breathe.
"Didn't think anyone would out here either. Don't know why though" She continued in her lazy tone. "It's not raining too bad. I don't know what everyone has against the rain," Mack continued to drawl. Alex nodded in agreement before throwing her head back against the rain, feeling the drops pitter patter against her face. It was such a refreshing feeling, spring rain. It was a pity that it was so under appreciated. If everyone took the time to just stand in the rain and appreciate it, they would certainly feel much better about stormy weather.
"I supppose then that neither of us are in our right minds for being out here...that works for me however" With that, Mack pushed herself up on her elbows, sitting up on the bench. "Bored of the castle as well?"
"Extremely," Alex replied, pushing back the stray strands of hair that were fighting free from her ponytail. "Everything is just so...boring." What an understatement. "All the teachers think it's crunch time for the OWLs, meaning you have the students that really care about studying, and then the ones that really couldn't be bothered, which makes everyone annoying or apathetic." There, Alex had her frustrations off of her chest. Finally. Mack might not care to hear it, but it at least felt good to get it all out of her system.
The whole thing did prove to be rather confusing for Alex. She didn't want to fall into the category of the over achievers and drive herself crazy from studying so much, but then at the same time she DID want to get good marks on her OWLs. As of that very moment, she had absolutely no idea about what she wanted to do in her future, so the only thing she could aim for was good marks to keep her options open. Merlin, it was all far more trouble than it was actually worth.

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
Mack was a hard girl to win over. She came across as a cold hearted girl that didn't care about anything or anyone. But truth be told she just got annoyed easily and that made her so distant from people. If Mack hated someone than they definantly knew it, if she liked them she had a hard way of showing it but they still got the hint; she was civil with those people. But some people she didn't really know so she tried not to judge them. Alex was one of those people.
Alex was in several of Mack's classes, them being in the same year after all. She didn't strike Mack as one of those annoying girls that were all into themselves...Mack hated those girls. No, only a few people Mack could handle. Probably the most lucky one was Mark Sorelli, which was surprising due to the fact that he was a prefect and Mack hated prefects.
So when Alex joined Mack she couldn't really find any reason to care whether the girl sat with her or not. If she got annoyed she would just leave, there was no point in being annoyed about it, Alex had every right to be out there as Mack did.
"Extremely,... Everything is just so...boring." What an understatement. "All the teachers think it's crunch time for the OWLs, meaning you have the students that really care about studying, and then the ones that really couldn't be bothered, which makes everyone annoying or apathetic."
Finally! Someone else that Mack could relate to. So she wasn't the only one that was annoyed with all the teachers heckling the students on about OWLS. OWLS were ages away and Mack didn't feel the need to be reminded every ten seconds about it.
Mack gave Alex a small shrug of agreement. "I swear if one more teacher has to remind me of OWLS I'll go ballistic. They're not that important, you can get other jobs without them." Okay so maybe that wasn't partially true but all the jobs that required high marks in OWLS Mack didn't want so she didn't really care about them.
"I don't even know what I want to do yet and I don't care. Right now I just want to survive here and get out." Mack wasn't one to get angry or explode like this but once in a while, during the opportune moment, it was necessary. One shouldn't bottle emotions up for too long, maybe that was why the fifth year exploded every so often.
Trying to calm herself down Mack looked up at the rain just as Alex had down and let the water trickle down her face and onto her jacket. It felt so good to be outside and out in some real weather.
Mack really didn't know why she was complaining, she knew she would get pretty good Marks on her OWLS. After all the girl may appear to not care about school but she still did well in it.
"Honestly, people here literally go crazy with all the studying they do." Mack shook her head. Her brother was one of those lunatics. "I just don't get it" she muttered.
ooc: wow that was bad...sorry im tired but wanted to post still
Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)"I swear if one more teacher has to remind me of OWLS I'll go ballistic. They're not that important, you can get other jobs without them," Mack replied. Alex nodded in agreement. Most of the high scoring jobs required several shiny OWLS, but there were some that you could manage without them. Alex could just escape the whole deal by playing Quidditch after she graduated. But then playing professional Quidditch was so competitive. She had to be the best of the best. She supposed starting as captain in her fifth year would help that slightly, but all the same. Since she had been thinking about that for quite some time, it was time for Alex to start thinking about practicing longer and harder, and also meeting council with the managers of some of the more desirable teams. If she was lucky, they would try and draft her in her seventh year. But she coudn't rely on that. It wasn't a safe bet.
And now here Alex was, doing exactly what her teachers wanted her to do. Worry, worry, worry. Fuss, fuss, fuss. She didn't want to worry or fuss! She wanted one designated goal to shoot for without having to worry about making the wrong choice or going the wrong direction! There was always the fear of messing up your entire life. As small as each choice seemed at the time, Quidditch or Ministry, it could alter everything! Alex sighed, rubbing her eyes a bit. Despite her current energy, her eyes were rather tired, and ached with pain. "I don't even know what I want to do yet and I don't care. Right now I just want to survive here and get out." Alex nodded her head once again. She could relate. Though she would prefer survive, get out, and have the entire future planned. It would make things so much easier, and she could finally relax. Apparently fifth year was the worst. Alex was hoping she would live to bare witness. "Honestly, people here literally go crazy with all the studying they do. I just don't get it"
"Seriously. I mean, I'm probably going to study for them, but not until the night before! If they can't remember everything they learned then they probably won't know it no matter what they do." Alex sighed again. She blinked a couple of times, thinking, and let out a gentle laugh. "Imagine, the only sane people in the castle are the ones that hate OWLs and sit out in the rain." Alex definitely considered it to be as such. As great as Jereff was, he was perhaps a bit too obsessed with studying and making sure he got those perfect scores. Alex did all of her homework, yes. Alex got good grades thus far, yes. But it was simply because she did what was expected, and then abandoned anything academic. Why should she do more than they asked her to? She wasn't an over achiever. It wasn't fun to do nothing but study all the time. How people could enjoy it was beyond Alex.
So by that point, Alex figured that the topic of OWLs was tired, exhausted, and pointless. But what to talk about now? Just like Mack, Alex wasn't one to really try and make small talk. It was just so wishy washy and pointless. How 'bout them Chudleys was always the worst thing anyone could say in a conversation. Alex wanted to thank whoever said things like that for pointing out that a situation was awkward, and if it was really bothering them, they could go take a hike and find someone else to exchange lame "awkward" phrases with.
Out of curiosity, Alex glanced at the cigarette in Mack's hand. There were few students at Hogwarts that she had seen smoking before, it was interesting. "Hey, where do you get those during the school year?" Alex questioned, nodding toward Mack's hand.

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
Some one at least shared Mack's view point. That never really happened. Mack's opinions were almost always different than the rest of her peers and she didn't really care that they disagreed. That was probably what got the girl in so much trouble. Mack didn't really share her opinions but when she did she was often violent about them, brutally innocent.
Mack didn't really like to study, it was just really annoying and a waste of time. Besides, Mack's marks were decent enough without studying. Despite what everyone thought the rebellious girl was actually pretty smart. But no matter what the girls parents and brother never really were impressed they were more focused on the trouble she was "getting in.
The fifth year didn't even know what she wanted to do after Hogwarts, it was a long way off. Mack couldn't really see what the future was for her, she couldn't really see her life any different than it was now. And who would even say it would be different in five or ten years? Of course she wouldn't be at Hogwarts any more but her lifestyle would probably not change.
"Seriously. I mean, I'm probably going to study for them, but not until the night before! If they can't remember everything they learned then they probably won't know it no matter what they do."
Mack nodded in agreement. "I probably wont even study" She knew that wasn't true. Mack liked to pretend that she didn't care about grades but deep down she really did want to impress everyone and to prove them wrong. "And if I do it will because my dear older brother will be pestering to" Mack made a face and rolled her eyes at this. "Why are brother's such pests" she muttered more to herself than to Alex.
"Imagine, the only sane people in the castle are the ones that hate OWLs and sit out in the rain."
Thinking about this for a second Mack let out a small and short laugh, which was very much unlike her. Mack never really laughed or smiled or anything ofthat kind unless she was really amused. Inclining her head a little Mack replied with, 'Well that seems about right. If everyone else were sane they'd be sitting out here with us bashing on the bloody OWLs as well."
This was quite a different expericne for Mack. She was't really use to just sitting with a girl and chatting with her. She was use to actually semi-pleasant enouncters. Normally her interatctions with her peers were sharp words and one of them storming off. As Mack thought of the differences of then and now she noticed Alex glance down at her cigarette, 'here we go again, someone else to yell at me for it' she thought to her self.
"Hey, where do you get those during the school year?"
Now that was a new one, she expect that at all and Mack was normally good at that type of stuff. Cocking an eyebrow, a sign that Mack was clearly surprised, she glanced down at her cigarette and then looked back up at Alex.
Mack shrugged and then answered Alex's question. "I get it around, you know there are," Mack searched for the right word, "Markets, per say, all around Hogwarts." She shrugged again before adding, "I also have friends back home that send me them." a smirk than grew on the girls lips, "And my parents are my unnofficial beneficious. They send me pocket money and have no idea what I actually spend it on" A michievious grin came on her face, "I tell them I'm buying chocolates and candies and school supplies.
Putting the cigarette to her mouth she took a drag on it and then, with another glance back down at it she looked towards Alex, and asked, "You smoke, drink...anything of the sort?"
Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)"I probably wont even study." Mack replied, making Alex bite her lip to hide a smile. Either Mack was extremely rebellious, or extremely confident that she could pass with good scores. In a way, both traits were rather admirable to Alex. Look who she had for friends! The Singer brothers. No one could say rebellion better than they could. Ashton was more up front about it, but there was no denying that Devon was a little rebel as well. They were rebels from pretty much their entire family line. It was somewhat strange to Alex, however, seeing as she was so close to her family. To know that there were people in the world that would rather stay at Hogwarts indefinitely and never see their family again was just so...odd. "And if I do it will because my dear older brother will be pestering to. Why are brother's such pests."
At this, Alex grinned. "Tell me about it. I have four older brothers. Not to mention a younger one, but he's too much of a priss to try and boss me around."
Mack let out a small laugh, and replied, "Well that seems about right. If everyone else were sane they'd be sitting out here with us bashing on the bloody OWLs as well." When it came down to it, Alex figured that they could start a support group. Anti-OWL Takers Against the World. Soon enough, people would start to join. And once they got a few of the leadership type people, all the lemmings would follow. Conform to society! Those rodents lived off of it. People were so wishy washy. They needed someone else to back them up and confirm their feelings before they would take affirmative action on anything. They could never start a protest by themselves, because, heaven forbid, they might be forced to stand alone. If they would actually start to think for themself and follow only themself, they would be amazed at how much richer life could be. Bloody conformists.
Upon Alex's question, Mack seemed rather surprised, cocking a brow and glancing down at her cigarette. "I get it around, you know there are," Mack started, "Markets, per say, all around Hogwarts." Mack shrugged. Markets? Alex had never heard of them before. Perhaps people had figured her the type to not want to touch it. An anti-substance kind of person. Was it because she was so into Quidditch? Perhaps. Did it really matter though? If Alex had wanted it so badly, she surely could have sought it out. "I also have friends back home that send me them. And my parents are my unnofficial beneficious. They send me pocket money and have no idea what I actually spend it on" A michievious grin came on her face, "I tell them I'm buying chocolates and candies and school supplies." At this, Alex laughed slightly, shaking her head. Parents.
"You smoke, drink...anything of the sort?" Mack questioned.
It was now Alex's turn to shrug. "Not all the time," she answered truthfully. "More so in the summer rather than during the year. But that's only because the uh..." Alex searched for the right word, "crowd is better where I live. I haven't exactly met very many people here that are into the whole party scene." Upon saying that, Alex cringed. Oh the memory. "Unfortunately I missed the biggest party of the year. I figured Armand's birthday party would be full of Slytherins and decided against going. And then I found out it turned out to be one of the best parties Hogwarts has ever seen. Bloody imagine that," Alex said, shaking her head slightly. She was still bitter.
"How about you? You drink, or just stick to smoking?"

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm). "Tell me about it. I have four older brothers. Not to mention a younger one, but he's too much of a priss to try and boss me around."
Mack definantly felt this girls pain."And I thought that having just one brother was hard, mind you him being a Prefect does make life here a little more difficult." Sean and Mack were completely different. Some didn't even know the two were siblings and were in either in shock or deinal when they found out. It was no wonder; Sean was the perfect gentleman: Polite, mature, smart and a people pleaser. While Mack on the other hand was a trouble maker: Stubborn, blunt, sarcastic and hated almost everyone.
It also didn't help that the two had slightly different last names. Sean was Abernathy-Raelene and Mack was just Raelene. The sibling's parents had split up when they were younger and Mack went to live with her mom taking on her mother's last name. When the pair switched and Sean lived with his mother he just added her name to his father's (Abernathy). It was all just too confusing and unimportant for Mack to really care.
When Mack spoke of the black market trade of cigarettes at Hogwarts and spoke of her use of pocket money Alex laughed. Mack never really made anyone laugh unless it was because of a smart alleck remark in class or it was one of her only friends, Mark Sorelli.
Upon asking Alex if she smoked Mack new that the girl didn't, she didn't seem like the type that would. But then again Mack didn't really like stereotyping or judging people. She supposed, however, that she knew the true answer so she didn't see it as judgement in a way.
"Not all the time," she answered truthfully. "More so in the summer rather than during the year. But that's only because the uh..." Alex searched for the right word, "crowd is better where I live. I haven't exactly met very many people here that are into the whole party scene."
Mack noticed a cringe escape the girl and wondered why. Did she feel that she had said to much or that she felt stupid in front of a girl that obviously was into the party scene? Mack could really care less, she wasn't one to judge someone on whether they partied or not. Of course sometimes she thought those people were boring, but she supposed it just couldn't be helped.
"Unfortunately I missed the biggest party of the year. I figured Armand's birthday party would be full of Slytherins and decided against going. And then I found out it turned out to be one of the best parties Hogwarts has ever seen. Bloody imagine that,"
Ah, so that was what the cringe was for. It was understandable. Mack had been at that party. She didn't really care about the house rivalry so it didn't bother her to go. She didn't even know Armand, but she had recieved an invitation and a party was a party after all to Mack. It was the chance for her to let loose like she hadn't done in a while.
"How about you? You drink, or just stick to smoking?"
A small smirk curled up on Mack's lips. "No, I do both. Not as muc has I would like though." She started. "I was at that party, I think I was pretty wasted after it truth be told." She didn't care what this girl thought about. There were so many rumors cycling about on Mack and this was a chance to confirm whatever Alex may have heard.
"Back home, during the summer time I'm at a party almost every night. Here I smoke more because it's just easier not to get caught." Mack let out a short bitter laugh.
"I was actually caught by Lianne Aspey with a cigarette. Isn't she quite the peach when she get's mad." Mack shook her head, an angry look in her eyes. "Lost a whole pack to that prefect." She spoke darkly, never having quite forgiven the older girl.
"Have you ever drank at school before? Some of the parties are good but sometimes a quick drink on your own or with a friend is nice." As she waited for answer she took a couple more draws on the cigarette, blowing out smoke rings this time.

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)"No, I do both. Not as much has I would like though." Mack replied. Alex wanted to frown, but stopped herself from doing so. Part of her wanted to do more as well, but then the other part wanted her to keep firmly on track. As much as she didn't want to study or worry about the future, she knew she needed to. She needed to at least be prepared. If she went into the OWLs knowing she could have studied more and realizing that if she had, she would have done better, she never would have been able to live with herself. She wanted to at least make sure she had a fair shot at decent grades. It was the least she could do for herself, right? And for the rest of her family. All of her older brothers thus far were GENIUSES. None of them liked to abide by rules and such, meaning none of them were Prefects or Head Boys, but they all scored insanely high on their OWLs. Alex had big shoes to fill. Four pairs of them, as a matter of fact.
But that wasn't why she wanted to succeed. She needed to succeed on her own. Not that that was the point at the current moment...back to the conversation at hand.
"I was at that party, I think I was pretty wasted after it truth be told." Alex laughed, and nodded. Word had it that nearly everyone was wasted by the end. Apparently Tucker Pence had been trying to get two first year Gryffindor girls drunk, so even the tiny tots were having more fun than Alex was that night. What a killjoy. "Back home, during the summer time I'm at a party almost every night. Here I smoke more because it's just easier not to get caught." Mack said with a bitter laugh. Alex raised a brow, but decided to keep listening, seeing as an explanation would probably ensue.
"I was actually caught by Lianne Aspey with a cigarette. Isn't she quite the peach when she get's mad." Mack said sarcastically. "Lost a whole pack to that prefect." Alex could understand that. Lianne Apsey was such a goody-goody. No one did ANYTHING bad on her watch, because heaven forbid, people had to ALWAYS abide by the rules.
"She is quite the ray of sunshine," Alex replied with a roll of her eyes. "Golden Girl if I ever saw one. No wonder she and that bugger Pence dated at the beginning of the year. Golden Boy and Golden Girl. They could sit there together just overwhelmed with their goldenness." It was evident that Alex still hadn't forgiven Tucker for his cruel joke that he and Devon had played on her. At least the 6th year boy was positively afraid of her now. That was always a plus.
"Have you ever drank at school before? Some of the parties are good but sometimes a quick drink on your own or with a friend is nice."
"I did a few times last year," Alex replied. "Not at all this year though." She sighed. "Not that it wouldn't be a nice change from all this OWL crap," Alex added darkly. Really. Getting piss ass drunk would be such a nice change of pace. She would honestly have to look into it, then figure out where she could get some hard liquor from.

Re: This bench looks nice (March 4th, 7:30 pm)
As Mack mentioned Armand's party she recalled those other parties that she had attended back home. She had started partying when she was fairly young, about twelve. She was drunk for the first time at thirteen. Mack never really did drugs, just mostly drank and smoked.
Those parties back home were great. As much as she didn't like Australia, those ones were the best. There would be roaring bonfires, music, lights, and hundreds of people around. Most people didn't even know there was drinking going on, like Mack's brother. That was fun and exciting when Sean found Mack stumbling around the party. It was amazing how that party wasn't caught.
Mack's parents were so blind during the summer. She would always be "spending the night" at a friends house when really they were out at a party and would stay at whoever's house the party was at; whether they knew them or not was the real question. Either, Mack and her friends that is, would pass out drunk at 3 am or pass out tired and exhausted at 6 am.
But Mack often had a funny suspician that her parents knew what she was doing, they would have to be stupid if they didn't. That was probably why Sean and his friends would so up..to keep an eye on her. Then again Sean did like parties, even if he didn't get completely sloshed at them. Perfect waste of a party if you ask Mack.
"She is quite the ray of sunshine," Alex replied with a roll of her eyes. "Golden Girl if I ever saw one. No wonder she and that bugger Pence dated at the beginning of the year. Golden Boy and Golden Girl. They could sit there together just overwhelmed with their goldenness."
The slight, and still bitter sounding and cold laughter that issued from Mack was sign of her agreeing with Alex. It was so true. Mack hated those that were so perfect together that it was almost destiny that they found each other. Can so much ego be in one relationship?? Mack just shook her head at the though.
"It's enough to make any one sick." Mack replied. She did not like goody-goods, they seemed to be quite boring and felt like they had too much power for there own good. Unfortuantly her brother was one of them. He wasn't too bad, as bad as Mack always would say. At their old school in New Zealand he was always causing mayhem, but because of his gentleman like qualities he was able to weasel himself out of trouble. Sean was not as innocent as he appeared.
But the conversation on Miss Aspey was a short one and the two girls turned there attention back to alcohol and smoking. "I did a few times last year," Alex replied. "Not at all this year though."
If Mack were a girl who showed her emotions on her sleeves she would of goggled at Alex, and would clearly show her surprise at this declaration. But Mack was not one of those girls. She hid how she was truly feeling very well, just as well as she was at figuring out what other people were thinking.
"Not that it wouldn't be a nice change from all this OWL crap,"
"Well that is indeed very sad and quite a tragedy if you ask me." Mack took another huff on her cigarette, thinking of how to approach this still. True OWLS weren't too important to her but she supposed she still wanted to do well in them. She just let on more that she didn't give a damn.
"And it is quite the beautiful thing. Sitting in an empty classroom or where ever. It's quite relaxing, just you, the cigarette and the drink. Well you alone, us you decide to have someone join with you."
Mack just thought of something and was wrestling with herself on whether she wanted to go through with it. She decided she wouldn't lose anything by saying it so it didn't really matter. "If you ever need to let loose you know where to find me. I've got some firewhiskey and Rum coming in this month and I'm trying to find a good time to use it." Mack said it so casually that it seemed like no big deal that she was smuggling in alcohol. Mack supposed that her sometimes casual tone she picked up on while in Australia.
Suddenly Mack just started laughing, harder than she had thus far. She shook her head and looked at Alex. "My brother would so hex me to oblivion if he knew any of this." She shook her head again and chuckled. "Oh wow, he is just so naive." Mack swung her legs around so they were planted on the ground and placed a hand on either side of her.
"Any brother's or sister's of your own?" Mack asked, uncharacteristicly. "Any one to bug you and make you just want to kill them?" Mack added with a slight smirk and an eyebrow raised inquiringly.
