Thurgadin is good for baking!
So, while I was picking up supplies this fine evening, I decided to kill some time and PP messing with baking. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy, inexpensive, and useful this tradeskill is (so far).
First, I went to Mordains Meat's. The guy actually sells the meat right next to the oven! Just buy a stack of rat meat (well, I am a troll, you could also substiture lion or bear, or scorpion, i imagine) and a stack of bread. Put one of each in the oven (hold down CTRL to select one) and hit combine. You can keep doing this until you hit 40 skill. I do believe that scorpion sandwiches give +5 svP, and a stack of 20 for all of them only weighs 0.1. You know who I am mentioning this for.
After 40 skill, which I got in about 5-10 minutes and for about 4pp of components, you can make beer braised stuff. Just use either Bear or Gator meat, a short beer, and a spices. They sell short beer all over the place, and spices are sold in the bank. This takes you to either 60 or 68... i forget... only costs about 6pp, and now I have an entire backpack (160!) of beer braised food. When successful, you make 2 each, so even if you fizzle half a stack of ingredients, you still get a full stack of food.
The bear & gator ones are -1int, +STR. The lion ones are -1INT, and +1STR +1AGI. A full stack weights 0.1.
I must admit, I had a fun time making these, and now I have tons of goodies to hand out at the raid. It was very convienient to raise it in Thurg, because everything you need is within 50 feet.
To get past 68, you need stuff that was not available there, such as fish or eggs. Bok, what should I work on now?

Welp...
Geeze. I wish Velious came out before I started out on my fool quest to master all tradeskills. Because let me tell you kids, back in my day we didn't have a seller of meat right next to a durn oven! We had to go out and kill our own rats and bears! In the snow! But seriously it is way easy to get to at least 65 skill with Thurgadin as Mr.Troll pointed out in the previous post. Past that you either have to find a merchant that sells fish (one in FP) or grab a pole and start a'fishin! Gator Rolls (why they are called that when the recipe is fish and bat wings) take you from 65 to 135. After that you have to delve into true baking which is a pain cause most require various bowls and pans. To get up to max baking requires alot of brownie as a main ingredient so I havent gotten past 135 myself. But good luck to my bretheren who dive into this past time. It is good fun though =)

Good thing I happen to be going past Freeport... can stock up on bats there

OK, so I goes to freeport, kill a few bats, get impatient, and finds me a noob. 10pp and 80 batwings later, I head to Neriak. Neriak, I figured, would be a good place to raise it because they sell fresh fish right next to the place with the oven. I start making gator rolls. I dont know what level they trivial at, other then it being higher then 135, but I fizzled. A lot. I had 100 batwings, and 100 fresh fish, and walked away with 17 fish rolls, and more disappointingly, only 3 skill increases. Is there anything a little easier? I think you get skill increases faster when you are closer to the trivial point... i was getting a skill increase almost every third attempt with the beer braised stuff.

*smack*
You silly Troll. If you read my post it said that Gator rolls came after Rat and ebar sandwichs trivial. *sigh* I guess it was too much for me to expect you to infer all that. :P Heh.. anyways the best advice I can give you is to check out this website. I owe all my tradeskill mastery to it. pub13.ezboard.com/beqtraderscorner

Uno: I dare you, without hitting the edit button, to go up to that post and show me where it says to make rat and bear sandwiches until trivial.
Dos: I did trivial rat and bear sandwiches first, anyways... if you scoll up to MY original post, you'll see it, right there.

Hiemer, but isn't it interesting how the troll and lizard exhange of ideas is so argumentative -- so characteristic of their warlike societies. Soon they'll be whacking each other with fish rolls. Lets step back to observe this interesting anthropological case study as it develops.

Bah!
Troll do you honestly think I take the time to stop and read the endless babbing and gibberish that are your posts? Because you are so incredibly thick the answer here is... NO! But I digress. Check out that website. Itll get you to master baker in no time. Post 145 is a pain the rear cause ya gotta kill tons of frickin brownies inon Faydwer. Bah. Maybe you and I should go on a killing spree when youve attained my level of mastery in the culinary arts. As for you Dr.Kapena. YOU GO TO HELL! YOU GO TO HELL AND YOU DIE! Just jealous he can't whip up some mean Southern Fried Halfie Toelings like I can.
Re: Bah!
First, thanks for the link man... that is pretty handy. If only there were a vendor who sold batwings!

As for the ongoing argument...ok, now I have to get dirty. I come up with a well thought out, well reasoned argument for your posts, and once more you respond with mindless dribble. I had not thought it possible to type with ones anus previous to reading your posts. Clearly, I must frame my arguments into a language your thick lizard brain can understand. How's this?

There is a vendor who sells batwings...
Right when you zone into EC from WC, at the triple hut
area... one of them holds a female Erudite who sells
batwings and fishscales.

The beautiful tale of one troll's culinary journey
And, true to my word, the fish rolls came like water. I swore I would not play last night, but once more could not sleep in the 100 degree weather... and I HAVE an air conditioner! But I digress. I figured I would log on, make some fish rolls, and go to sleep.
It took longer then I thought to make them. First, I ran from Grobb to EC... ever notice when you have to run 7 or 8 zones, shouting looking for port, will donate through the first 4 or 5, that no one sends you a tell until you are either already where you are going, or one zone away? But I digress. I ran to the erudite chick, and bought 200 bat wings, and then ran to neriak and bought 200 fresh fish, stopping only to swat Sargeant Slate with the rolled-up newspaper pf JUSTICE!. I had noticed some dude when I was in EC looking for fish rolls, and figured when I was done I'd send him a tell.
Let me tell you, clicking 200 batwings and 200 fish really irritates your wrists.
Anyways, when i was done, I had 160-odd fish rolls. How that is possible, I have no clue, because it seems like I fizzled entire stacks. But, I did. I also got very nice increases... 200 attempts gave me exactly 50 skill raises (from 69 to 119).I sent that guy a tell, and sure enough he did want some, they being the food that never ends, and only weighing 0.1. I put 4 stacks on him, and realized that I had no idea what they were worth. He put 50pp in the trade window, and I felt guilty, so I have him 8 stacks. Hey, I could always make more.... I'm a MasterBaker now!
So... how much does a stack of fish rolls sell for?
And, as far as a killing spree goes... I think you should know I am always down for a horrific killing spree, no matter whom the victim. Which reminds me... the next time someone is goddamn bugging you for money or items or whatever, and just wont go away, tell they you'll give them money, but they have to go into donation mode first... just click on you and type /d . Every once in while, they will do it, and you can administer a savage beating and a warning (in shout) that this is what beggars get! But I digress.
edit- speling be harde! Really hard. This is the 4th edit
