Trekking towards equality
I can't beleive this. I put up one post and it gets instantly blocked just cause I'm a trekke. I thought we were in a new age, but the cold feet of oppression are always there to remind me. I realize that in this world people will always scorn you for being different. If not for my faith that in the future Americans, Russians and extraterristrials will reap their phasers of discrimination into plow shares as they serve side by side, I would surley be lost. It really is amazing that they censor my opinions of lord of the Rings. They know that if people start complaining about how they've wasted their time and money, it will only spread. First Lord of the Rings, then Star Wars, what next? It will spread and then there will be one. Star Trek (the original and TNG, not Deep Space 9, Voyager or that one with the guy from that horrendous show Quantum Leap).

Re: IBTL
The mods seem to be pretty lock-happy lately. Probably just fed up with people being stupid.

Re: opression
And another thing. Why would a moderator shut me out a put up a picture of the Eye from the very movie that I detest, staring at a women's ass? It's perverse. If I responded to someone that way I bet they'd block me, but they're allowed to call you nasty names, mock your concerns with pornography and make sure you can't say anything about it. Well it's no use crying over spilled milk, you just gotta mop it up, squeeze out and re-pasturize it.

Re: Trekking towards equality
Speaking ill of LOTR has acquired something of the status of a "your momma's so fat..." statement. It has been so often used for no intention other than to offend that any legitimate concerns about the dangers of obeisity are summarily outweighed.

I think if you have an issue with a mod decesion you're suppose to email the mods shmods@thesafehouse.org
The Trouble with Trolls
A nebulous vacuum devoid of any human intelligence. An unfathomable obstacle to advancement and logical progress. A problem with no reasonable solution.
I'd probably get in trouble for a personal attack, but the targets actually have to be people, I assume.
Mods, do us all a favor: set phasers to "Ban" and stand by.

Re: Trekking towards equality
Well lets see, you made the profile today, your first post was about how bad LotR is on a board that is at least partly about fantasy and it to be honest seemed very much like troll bait. If so not very original one either since I believe the Trek vs LotR has already been done in a PvP strip. I'd have been surprised if they hadn't jumped on it.
Oh and the hate has nothing to do with trekkies at all, trust me, we have our own trekkies here and some of us you'd be hard pressed to out-trek us in our desperate bid for the title of Alpha geek.
Err and dude, you have seen the state of Trekdom lately right? The way Berman and Braga keep saying they have no idea why fans dislike their recent work when the internet is practically flooded with detailed reasons why? I mean c'mon, you really think Nemesis was better than LotR? Ok, maybe better than the crappy parts of Episode 2, and better than all of Episode 1, but that's not a difficult task to reach.

Is this the part where we all start guessing who "Vulcan" really is?
Re: The Trouble with Trolls
A Star Destroyer could so kick the @#%$ out of the Enterprise. Even the 'E' revision would be toast.

Re: The lonliness of Epiphany
ALright, it's time to adress the issue rationally. I express one opinion on a website that is deisgned to talk about fantasy and people take it so personally that they start calling me fantasy names. I know its just casue I'm a Trekke. My entire life I have been harrassed for it. every night I go to bed all alone with nothing but a mental image of Dr. Crusher to keep me company and I pray for the day that people will understand. My boss mocks me, my co-workers mock me. I wish I could just sow the patient up without the jokes. It's rediculous. I come here to seek refuge among the other of reality's rejects and all I get is mocked with pornography and references to fantasy beings. Well those who oppose the new era are klingons and nothing more. Why is there no Everquest style Star Trek game? why is there no salvation for man? beam me up Scotty there's no empathetic beings on this planet.

You know what the funny part is, he hates LOTR because of the fake dwarves, hobbits, etc... Yet thinks Vulcans, Klingons, etc. are real. Or wait, maybe his entire "rant" is just one big bunch of sarcasm?

Re: The lonliness of Epiphany
Vulcans, Klingons and the like do exist. They exist in the Platonic realm. It's the relam of existence in which all concepts reside regardless of whether we have thought of them. You can say the same of LOTR characters, but Gene Roddenberry had a power. A true power to reach into the Platonic realm or as some would call it "the third." Upon doing so he saw these concepts which were already real and he amde them even more real. Tolkienne thought up Frodo, but Captain Kirk thought up Mr. Roddenberry. You know you should all let your EQ characteres choose you once in a while. Then Fantasy truly become reality.

None of this games sense to me. Either I'm so out of touch with reality or half of you don't make sense. Probably the former due to pleasant substances currently working their way through my digestive system. So I shall leave you with very wise parting words that have helped me a lot in games:
No matter how big the pizza was you just ordered it was too small. You should have gotten two of them.
Re: The lonliness of Epiphany
Startrek is that movie with lightsabers right?

No. Star Wars uses the lightsabers. Your confusing Spock with Luke. Spock is Capatain Kirks' Lt. Commander and lover. Luke Skywalker is the protagonist of Star Wars. If your going to mock the pillars of reality you should at least sit through one movie from at least one of the series. I sat through 8.5 hours of LOTR before I decided I didn't like it.

trust me the sig has nothing to do with LOTR , unless your vision is a tiny tiny bit above blind , you should have noticed that its from EQ and was a bit funny the first time i saw it
Unless another mod doesn't find humor in the thread I dub it teh funny and leave it open provided mod-bashing ceases and desists.
Llabak's signature was in LotR?!?!?! Geez man, I have to buy the super-duper extended box widescreen hawt sexxor edition now!
For the record I loathe Tolkien and the LotR too. Trekkies are about two teirs below hobbit-bois on the social scale.Edited by: Nocte at: 4/26/04 6:24 am
