Turn Away Your Own Child
The Qur'an tells us: "Thou wilt not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day, loving those who resist God and His Apostle, even though they were their fathers or their sons ..." (58:22) Therefore, if your husband or your children turn from Allah. or fail to follow the Divine Will and Law of Allah, then we have the obligation to turn away our offending family members. As a woman, and as a mother, could you do so? Is your faith strong enough for you to follow this injunction fo the sake of Allah alone?

re
This ayah (58:22) does not tell us to "turn away offending family members"! As Muslims we know we are supposed to be kind to non-Muslims, especially if they are our parents. We are obligated to be respectful and polite. Allah did not tell us to turn our backs on them. How could be possibly do da'wah and invite them to Islam this way?

Re: re Noah and Abraham told to turn away...
We are told in the Holy Qur'an 11:45-47 that Noah asked Allah to save his son from the flood. Allah responded saying, "He is not of your family: For his conduct is unrighteous. So ask of me what thou hast no knowledge!"

Abraham prayed for his fathers salvation (9:113) and in the following verse (114) we are told, "But when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of Allah, he disassocitaed himself from him..."

Therefore we are told to disassociate ourselves from anyone, including our own children, if they are openly defient of Allah or turn away from Allah's teachings. If they turn their backs on Allah we should turn our backs on them.

abandonment
personally i believe there is a difference between disassociation and abandonment.
Disassociation may be temporary, whereas abandonment has more harsh connotations.
Praying for forgiveness for Non-Muslims-parents or children may not be allowed, but nowhere are we forbidden to pray to Allah (SAW) to guide them.
Abandoning someone- or rather anyone for that matter- is certainly not Islamic. It will just give the other person a chance to malign Islam more that it preaches such things which are against ones natural inclination.
my 2 cents
