We have added a few things to the requirements to power and ability upgrades. Be sure and read the details in the most recent update when you request a new power / upgrade.
Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Turns to Ashes (closed)
"Deryk, you should get out of the house. There's a beautiful park where you can see Niagra Falls, you should visit it."
The boy nodded, stepping away from the window. Urban life just wasn't the same. As much as he hated Indiana, he sometimes missed it. He shook his head, putting on a grey hoodie over his t-shirt. His urban camo pants hung loosely off of his form and a black hat was put on backwards over his brown hair.
"Don't forget to put on a jacket!" his mother called out to him. He waved the comment off as he walked out the door, putting his hands in his hoodie pocket as he walked to the bus stop. He shivered lightly as the bus came to a stop in front of him.
He leaned his head on the cold window, sighing to himself. Absentmindedly he reached for the necklace his father had given him, twirling it in his hands. He looked up to see a priest staring at him. The man of the cloth turned away, seeming to point his nose in the air and Deryk responded with a quick middle finger.
Finally the bus came to a stop at Niagra Park. He made a quick trip to a gas station nearby. He disguised himself as an old man as he walked in. He approached the man at the counter, who quirked an eyebrow at the elderly gentleman's choice of clother.
"Pack of Basics, full flavor please." he said, trying his best to disguise his voice. The boy was about to ask for an ID, but he shrugged his shoulders. Deryk paid for the smokes and a lighter and walked to the park. He leaned over the rail, packing his smokes. Pulling one out, he put the pack in his pocket, his disguise fading to his normal visage.
He sparked the cigarette, taking a deep drag. Exhaling the smoke out of his mouth, his brown eyes looked down at the churning water.
"How easy would it be to just end it?" he asked himself, his voice barely audible over the roaring of the nearby falls.
Barely audible is not quite inaudible, and V was walking near the old man (wait; the boy? Funny, she could have sworn -- ) when Deryk spoke.
The fifteenyearold pauses ; comes to rest like a measure of music ; hands tucked deep in the pockets of her black coat ; and she looks at the back of the boy's head.

Deryk spun around, tossing the cigarette down as he stomped on it firmly. His cheeks turned a bright shade of red as his lightening brown eyes locked with the girl. He looked away, putting his hands to his cheeks.
"Leave me alone." he snapped. He expected her to be rather cruel and laugh at him like everyone else had. Why should she be different? Atleast my wings didn't come out..."

He spun around; snapped, defensive. And V became as motionless as a statue. The day is overcast and the sky rumbles, a distant commentary. The girl remains still for a moment, and then another ; perhaps she's just searching for the right mocking words?
He saw, before he looked away : Another teenager, no more than fifteen years old, all in black. Black jacket, falls to her thighs; black pants; black boots, laces at the ankles, the rest disappeared underneath the pants. Black shirt underneath the jacket ; black necklace. Even a black ribbon in her hair. But more than black she is defined by gold. Gold, gold, gold ; her hair is all the shining of gold - even her eyes are gold things, liquid honey, held up to the light, and illusorily warm.
"--don't drop. I apologise," V says, and her voice is as cool and distant as her eyes are not. And she finally looks away, lashes low; her boots don't echo on the concrete when she continues walking toward, well, a bench further down.

Deryk watched her walking off, frowning in realization of what he did. He got up, walking after her. "Wait..." he called out. "I'm sorry..."
He walked beside her. "You startled me... Not that that's a proper excuse for my rash behavior..." he said lowly. "I'm Deryk, and new here. Do you go to MHS?" he asked, cocking his head to the side.
Re: Turns to Ashes (closed)
V regards Deryk out of the corner of her eye, when he comes up beside her, but the question - well, that's sufficient shock enough to stop her, again. She takes one hand out of her pocket (it's gloved) and rests it on the rail. "Do I look like I go to MHS?" Her voice is quiet; contained. Her head is canted; the expression in her glance, quizzical. "And - I'm called V."
Re: Turns to Ashes (closed)
Deryk stopped, turning away. "I... I don't know... What's so special about MHS?" he stammered. He took off his hat, squeezing it in his hand out of nervousness.
"Sorry if I offended you..." He felt the familiar pain in his back as his face cringed some. Not again... Not in front of her...
Re: Turns to Ashes (closed)
"V!" A voice full of cheer and maybe a trace of exhaustion mixed in. Amber appeared from behind a tree, dashing over towards her friend.
Where had the cheerful winged girl been? Chasing after a calico cat, wanting to pet it of course. The feline managed to elude her and she gave up on tracking it down, however she had lost sight of V in the process. She had wandered for a short time, until she heard the roar of the falls. Blind faith or luck led her there.
She too was dressed dark, a black jacket offset by white lace, and beneath that would be a matching dress. The girl lifted up her finger, a pause so that she could catch a breath.
"The kitty got away from me," she said between breaths, "It was so cute too..."
Amber lifted her head and her dark eyes caught sight of someone, a boy, squeezing his hat. She blinked, glanced over at V with a puzzled look on her face. Maybe she had just realized that he had been there.
Re: Turns to Ashes
"I've heard it called Monster High School," she replies. "By students who do not attend it."
He seems so timid ; and, truly, Genevieve did not wish to scare him. But students (and - ) killed or tortured for no other apparent reason than they go to MHS. "Your apology is - are you hurt?"
When Amber races from behind a tree, the calm, poised girl half-turns to greet her, although her gaze stays fastened on the strange boy. "His name is Deryk."
OOC: Darn, I'm sorry; I didn't realize you'd posted, sugoi, while I had the reply box open, and didn't even read back! -_-;;;;;;

Re: Turns to Ashes"I'm fine, thank you." he said lightly. His brown eyes locked with Amber's. He looked away quickly, staring at the ground around her. "I'm Deryk..." he almost whispered.
His eyes turned away from the two of them, ignoring the pain in his back. "Monster High School, huh? Well, I'll leave you be then. It was nice to meet you, V."
He sighed, turning around as he began walking off. A single black feather fell out of the back of his shirt. The tip was covered in fresh blood.

Re: Turns to Ashes
The black feather falls (a gentle drop) onto the ground. Then the wind blows it - scuds it across the concrete - to the feet of the two girls. V leans down, and picks it up; then her amber-flux gaze cuts to the nephilim with white wings that she just can't hide.
Do you see this?
V doesn't take her gloves off, but she touches the blood with one gloved finger. He must be a new student, she thinks. V is smart, but occasionally it takes her a moment or two to jump to the obvious conclusion.
"Deryk," Amber repeated, her voice so gentle that the sound of the falls would overshadow it. The pendulum, faithfully tied to her wrist, pulsed hot in her hand.
Hot? Why?
Before she could say anymore, the boy turned away, leaving a black feather behind. V picked it up with her gloved hand, her fingers safe from the blood on the tip. Amber's eyes dark eyes widened; a black feather, black as midnight.
"That's..." She started to speak but stopped. No, it couldn't be what was crossing through her mind. The winged girl touched the feather. It was softer than a bird's feather, softer anything that could exist. Amber snapped her head up to the boy's direction.
Re: Turns to Ashes
Deryk turned around, hearing the girl's voice. But that's when he saw the feather she was holding. His eyes grew wide with fear and began to fill with tears. He doubled over, his stomach twisting in a terrible knot from anxiety.
He put his hand to his mouth, shaking his head. Tears began to stream down his face as he began walking backwards from the girls. "No... No, it's not mine... Stay away..."
Re: Turns to Ashes
"We do go to Manga High School," Genevieve says, and it might seem sudden - or even off topic. "Don't be afraid." But the cool, collected teenager doesn't lack a heart; one hand is clenched over the very spot her heart lurks behind, and the other is underneath her jacket, thumb hooked on a belt-loop - caution would dictate that it's the easiest way to suddenly reach her gun, if this thing explodes. V put the feather into her pocket, so it was no longer visible; an automatic thing.
Re: Turns to Ashes
Amber stepped towards him, but another hot pulse from the pendulum stops her from taking another step. The dark feather felt like a feather from her own wings. Her small white wings twitched at her thoughts.
The winged girl bowed her head, he just seemed so frightened and she couldn't help but to feel a little sad for him. A part of her wanted to ask him questions, but compassion overides that desire.
Re: Turns to Ashes
Deryk wiped his face, drying his face on his hoodie. He put his hat back on, the cap facing the right direction as he pulled the bill down to cover his face. He sighed, putting his hands in his pockets before walking to an unoccupied bench. He would wait for atleast one of the girls to follow before he began speaking.
"I'm a monster. My mother is in denial about my problem... My father isn't even from this world. I'm unnatural... I knew I was a freak from the moment I first saw my wings... Everyone thinks the same, why should you two be so different?" His voice was hushed, almost a whisper.
Re: Turns to AshesI'm a monster, Deryk says, once Amber and V have followed him ; and, "Oh," V murmurs, involuntarily, but so quietly, only the shadow under her tongue hears. Her eyes shift from the boy, to her friend ; to see what Amber's reaction to this story is.
Re: Turns to Ashes
Amber said nothing at first and took a seat next to the boy. A monster, he called himself that just as she had when her wings first sprouted from her back. That had been so long ago, and yet there were still times where she would think that. Those would be nights where she could not fall sleep, where nightmares plagued her and she stared at moonlit shadows dancing on the wall.
I'm not a human or an angel! I'm neither, I'm not even supposed to exist!
Her dark eyes fixed onto the pendulum that rested in the palm of her hand. What phantom had she told that to before? Finally, she spoke in a voice that was both distant and filled with a deep sadness.
"A living paradox. Unnatural. Yeah, I've been told the same thing..."
The girl's hand closed around the pendulum, feeling it pulse like a human heart in her palm. If that were true, there would be blood spilling though her fingers and the heavy droplets would splatter on the ground. That vivid thought created in her mind vanished in an instant.
"My dad was from a higher place, and he vanished from my life because of what he was. Because of that, I carry a curse now...so I can relate."
Re: Turns to Ashes
Deryk's eyes shot open as he stared at Amber. She too was a half-breed. "Atleast your father came from the divine. Anything's better then the pit." he said lightly.
He closed his eyes, sighing to himself. "Forgive me for the way I've been acting. It's nice to see that atleast two people at my new school are understanding. I wonder how I even got put in here... Fate..." he said, chuckling. "But it was probably that bastard."
He ran his index finger over his ring, staring at the silver serpent.
Genevieve, for her part, listens in silence; she doesn't sit down on the bench, but chooses, instead, to stand where she can see both Amber and Deryk. Amber, the daughter of an angel and a human woman; Deryk, the son of a devil and?
Not divine;
All liquid gold, V leans her back up against a cold black pillar. Hands, now, behind her back, folded; chin tilted up. "It could be Chance," she says; "Shouldn't forget her."
Re: Turns to Ashes
"My father may have been from the divine, but it may be that it's a serious crime in heaven for him to love my mother. At least it seems you can hide your wings. Mine are always out in the open, no way to hide them."
She flapped her wings once as acknowledgement of the curse. The entire moment felt surreal, meeting another half-breed of a dark entity. She wondered for a moment if she was just dreaming again, thus her melancholy state now. She would wake up and Deryk would vanish.
Amber nodded to what V said. Chance, she accepted that more than being part of God's will or Fate. Both were too constricting, the path too narrow and the end is clear.
"Chance, I'll go with that." Her voice was soft and hinted of bitterness.
