Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
(ooc: Eh, just ask to join if you really wanna ^-^;; )

Atonement, that was what a certain half-angel had set out to do early that morning; leaving school grounds before the sun would rise and take its place among the sky. She had set out to return to the place where the deed have been done, yearning to remember what she could not...or would not remember. By the middle of the day, it had taken a huge twist and through a series of inexplicable events, she found her way back to the school. Clean and dressed in a black jumper and ruffles, she would return to the school with scratches slowly healing over and traces of blood (no, not her own) on her upper arm and cheek, remenants that had not been washed into the waterfall.

This is what I deserve for my sins...

Atonement denied today. Amber seemed too exhausted to be her cheerful self right now. After escaping with her life, trudging across the Meadow and the forest, making a stop at the waterfall to clean herself and her sword before reaching the school grounds...no wonder she was exhausted! Now she had made it to the Quad, now dotted with few students at this time of the day. She couldn't help but to feel grateful; the less people would see her, the better.

Now if she could just make it to the dorms unseen...

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
Nessa sat in on one of the benches in the middle of the quad, trying to get her thoughts in order. It had been another busy day at school, and she thought that she was finally beginning to get back into the pace of studying... already she had her nights planned for studying--the Guardian would be most angry at her if she got anything less than A's, and she didn't want to disappoint him, but for now she simply enjoyed the feeling of the sun and wind brushing against her face like the touch of an errant lover coming back for a small visit being whisked away on another errand.

She felt a little off-key, though. Recently she had started getting... flashes. If that's what you could call them. One moment she was herself, and the next she saw out from the alien eyes, looking at the world from a different angle... from a different time? She knew not what she saw, or who saw it... Perhaps it was something from when she had amnesia? Well, she thought to herself, It doesn't really matter, now does it? I'll just have to concentrate harder on getting good grades, not falling behind, and try to stop being so clumsy. Her face suddenly redenned as she remembered her fall before her whole class on the first day of school. Well, that was behind her, and she'd try harder and do better from here on out... or at least she promised herself that.

Suddenly she had another flash; a darkness flashed before her eyes to open up into an alien landscape of purples and greens where bubbling vats filled with struggling creatures floated amongst forms of blurred grays that appeared to talk to each other in garbled, alien tongues. They didn't appear humanoid, but everything was too blurry to truly be able to tell. Suddenly one turned to her, coming closer... and then another flash of darkness and the world returned. She could hear the sounds of her heart thudding strongly, her blood surging through her veins as she tried not to gasp from what she had seen... A moment passed... Another one... And she got control of herself. She raised up her head, and saw a sight she had yet to see before in the waking world... a girl with wings, angellic feather of gleaming white that matched her hair streaming behind her back.

Could she be beginning to hallucinate while in this world? She wasn't sure she wanted to know, but couldn't stop staring at the girl.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
A twinge in the back of her mind, the sensation that comes when one is being watched. Amber knew that feeling all too well, walking down the streets of LA in Gothic Lolita dresses (and those wings, exclaimed the whispers). How she hated that kind of stare! The sensation came from the bench to right of her, and for a second she almost didn't want to turn and look.

Too late and by instinct, Amber stared back. A familiar face, she realized, one that she had not seen in a long while but remembered clearly. One who had spoke kindly to her the first day they met, one who eradicated a night of nightmares once....and one who made her blood boil all of a sudden. There was a sudden change on the angel's face, shifting from a stare of surprise to a stare that was uncharacteristic of her usual desposition: cold and sharp as icicles.

There were things one could forgive...but not forget so easily.

"You."

Not a smile, not a hi, just that one word. She could turn around and leave right now, her mind raced as she tried to figure out what was there to be done; she was not in the best of mood and it was best to leave before something serious would happen. However, the half angel stood her ground, still exchanging the cold stare.

"M... m... mmme?" asked Nessa, completely bewildered. Her face shifted into a more fearful than surprised expression, feeling the coldness in that voice. Her heart thudded once more, and she licked her suddenly dry lips to wet them before swallowing.

The firmness of the bench held for a moment as she leaned back into it... Farther... And farther... Until it toppeled backwards with a crash, spilling Nessa onto the grass behind it with a thump and giving a view of her panties (white with cute smiling cat heads) to Amber and all the others who might be passing by before her skirts once more settled on her.

She stayed there, unmoving, her heart beating rapidly and her mind racing in confusion as she tried to remember if she had ever met this wing-ed girl, coming up with a blank at the end. She continued thinking, until with a loud (anime-ish) pop and a cloud of steam rising from her head, she fainted from thinking too hard.

OOC: Not overrealistic, but it happens often enough in anime, and this *is* MANGA High School :p

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
There really was no need to have Amber's thoughts slip into manga-panel; that reaction from Nessa was enough. Humorous as it was (yet amazingly a smile never cracked her face), the emotion on Amber's face shifted to a more expressionless one, as if she heard a joke that she didn't quite understand.

"Eh?"

The half-angel didn't make a movement to help her, prefering to stand her ground. What was with that sort of reaction however? It was as if Nessa had never seen her before! Granted it had been quite a while since they had seen each other but it still seemed to bother Amber. Best not to dwell in thinking about it.

"Nessa, get up. You're embaressing yourself." Her voice retained the earlier coldness, but in a softened tone.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
Nessa, uncoherent on the ground, moved not at all from the spot. In fact, she was still dazed and unconcious, unaware of reality, and one simply could not be ordered from that state to one of wakefulness. And words--not even Amber's--could wake a person in this state from the dreamless sleep that was unconciousness. Nessa continued to lie there on the grass, eyes closed, tulip-like mouth slightly open, slightly moist, and slightly pink without hint of lipstick, while her eyes were closed, only a trace of eyeshadow on them with her naturally long eyelashes not needing to be added to with mascara.

Unconcious like this, she might have made many a pervert's dream, unaware of the world at large and free to be done with as the person wished... Her skirts now only slightly parted showed on the hint of her panties within their folds, but nevertheless their hue was visible within the folds of her deep-blue skirt.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
Lucky for Nessa, Amber wasn't a pervert. There were a few students wondering if the girl was all right - not to mention a few guys wanting to sneak a peek (and quickly being scared away by the most dreadful of Amber's glares). Now there was the trouble of what to do about this. Sure she could leave her and simply head back to her room to nurse the few wounds she had...

Instead she found herself pulling the bench back up to sitting position, with Nessa still completely out of it. Taking the moment to make sure Nessa was decent, Amber takes a seat, resting her sword over her lap. Who would think that just beneath the laquer sheath, there would be bloodstains fresh from the earlier confrontation. Amber sighed and started talking to herself...and Nessa in an odd way.

"I have no idea what reaction that was. Were you surprised to see me or what? Anyway it's been a while, ne? A long time since that one day. I wonder if you remember at all...remember why I looked at you that way. Despite that I hate to hold a grudge, to feel that way, I can't help it."

She bowed her head, biting her lip to fight the pain. Her arm was burning like mad, maybe still reacting to something around her or the situation that had occured. Amber waited to calm down before continuing to speak.

"Ah well...it doesn't matter. It might be best not to be around each other..."

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
"around each other..."

Nessa slowly awakens from unconciousness, her lolled head slowly straightening itself as she opens her eyes. At first the harsh glare of the sun on her eyes causes the whole world to appear colorless, bleached from any color, a world of hues of gray. Slowly color comes back into the world as her eyes adjust, blinking at the brightness. She looks over and down, and sees the girl, then remembers the weird look she had received from her. She noticed something on her lap, and saw the sheathed sword.

Lip quavering a little, Nessa raised both hands, curled into fists towards her mouth, elbows resting against her abdomen, an instinctive gesture to protect against violence. A meek squeak and a scoot away, and Nessa was a little further from Amber, looking at the sword fearfully. Unaware of the things Amber had said previously while she was unconcious,

Nessa asked hesitantly, voice quavering, "W... wh... what d-do you plan on doing with that sword? And who are you?" Confusion littered her voice, no deception appearing as she frankly asked the question. The sword's hidden sharpness reminded her of something deep inside, repressed memories of sheathed needles ready to pour drugs into her bloodstreams, but she pushed those memories down with all her might, succeeding after a moment to stave them off, at least for a little while longer. She looked fearfully at the girl, wondering who she was and how she knew her.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
Amber stared at her for a moment, wondering if Nessa was joking or being serious in her reactions. There were humans that were able to hide their emotions quite well, and there were others that weren't so skilled. However, with Nessa it seemed that it wasn't an act. She knew about her wings, in fact Amber had nearly had a heart attack when her gender-change power was revealed to her (resembling the angels). The eyes, the body language told all.

Amber looked down at her sword, her eyes lingering on the golden print of cherry blossoms over the dark laquer sky. Nessa's reaction had reminded her of few encounters before. Long, long before...

"So you don't remember me, Nessa." It was more of a statement than a question. The half angel glanced at her, her expression was hard to read. It was taking every ounce of her will not to show that the cross-shaped mark on her shoulder was reacting and burning into her flesh. Even the cloth from the sleeve of her dress irritated it.

"We were friends once...I knew about your power. You did kind things for me once upon a time, like actually gave me one night of dreamless sleep or going out to have fun. And then...ah,it doesn't matter. I suppose this is all for the best. It's best that you don't know me."

She stood up and bowed her head slightly in a respectful manner.

"Ja ne." And with that she would walk towards the direction of the dorms.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
"Matte-kudasai," was the only thing that left Nessa's lips as her hand snaked out, grabbing Amber's wrist in a gentle grip. If she truly wanted to, Amber could easily shake off the feather-soft touch, pull out of it and continue walking away. A moment of perfect stillness, silence that was as fragile as a thin sheet of ice, and as easily broken seemed to surround the two girls as Nessa looked down at the ground for a moment. Another moment, and her eyes continued to search the ground, as though looking for something, anything. Finally her eyes turned up, to look at Amber, angellic wings the color of Nessa's hair standing, flapping at times with life, showing that they were not mere accessories or toys.

"I ... it is true that I don't remember you. I was ... in an accident. They told me I had amnesia. I forgot so many things, so many places," her voice, tinged with bitterness and choked with sadness was one that hinted at a deep loss, something precious, perhaps lost forever and never to be found again. "It truly saddens me that I don't remember you... but if we were good friends before... I'd like to try again. Please... Can we start over? Please... I don't want to feel as though others hate me for things I can't remember doing... Please, could we simply start over? Please...?" she asked mournfully, a plea she knew she probably had no chance of having fulfilled.

Whatever she had done must have been something so terrible, so hateful, so hurtful that it had caused someone who was obviously a friend to sever all connections with her, and she began hating herself for that, while at the same time wondering what it was exactly that she had done. She felt like balling up and crying, to let out the pain inside, but she wasn't able to let herself, and instead hang her head, the only thing upraised was her arm, still gripping Amber's wrist slightly, as though a connection to the living world, one that if lost, would send her into the deepest depths of despair.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
Nessa reached out and gripped her wrist, something she had not expected to do. Amnesia, Nessa said to her, was the cause for uncertainty. The girl who no longer remembered her was pleading to start over, to reach out to her even though she had no recollection of what had happened before.

A part of her felt compelled to answer her, while the other part of her wanted to slice her head off. How could it happen just like that? Not to remember that Nessa had hurt someone Amber cared about. That was long ago however, was it possible to start anew? The girl bowed her head, her mind trying to construct what she had to say.

"Nessa, please...for the sake of your soul, your life...it's better if-"

Beep-beep.

Her free wrist, the sleeve of her dress concealed a wrist device that had been a thoughtful gift from a friend, beeped with an urgent message. She had never used it to call Yakoutio, only because the less he was involved in her troubles, the better for him. Amber's eyes darted to her arm and she quickly brought it to eye-level. Her heart sank, there was a single message:

Help, Meadow

"Yakun..." She said so gently, and then with a violent tug pulled away from Nessa's grip, nearly stumbling backwards. The meadow, she had to get to the meadow NOW. Forget the fact that her shoulder burned (is that why?) and that she was exhausted; Yakoutio needed help.

When Amber looked back at Nessa, her eyes were darker than midnight and devoid of the softness that they had when she had been speaking to her. She wasn't angry, not just yet anyways, but there was something dreadfully wrong with the angelic girl.

"I have to help my friend."
And then Amber would take off running in the direction of the meadow, alternating beween gliding and running to retain her strength.

Re: Unresolved Resolve (Openish)
"A ... friend?" Nessa asked, uncertain at the words. Suddenly, her face filled with determination. If they had been friends before, then a friend of Amber's was a friend of her's. She abruptly got up, and began running after Amber. For a second, she though that there would be no way for her to catch up to Amber, but then she finally got into her stride.

Her vision tunnelled, and the only thing she saw was Amber, ahead of her as she focused upon her completley. Her strides lengthened, and the running she did daily finally began to pay off as the distance between them shortened a little; though Nessa wouldn't reach wherever Amber was running to at the same time as her, she'd be only seconds away, and would hopefully make a difference.

She knew what she was doing; yes, her resolve rose, and she knew deep inside herself that she was ready to finally React with someone. If it renewed the bonds of friendship between them, then Nessa would be more than ready to React with Amber... and it seemed as though Amber was a person worthy to be Reacted with. Nessa's view on Reacting with someone was a little similar to many people's view on sex--it was something deep and personal that you didn't share with too many people, and showed that you deeply trusted the other. Nessa hoped her trust would not be betrayed as she continued running, runnning, and running after Amber.
