VS and the 3 little wizzies...
Late last night, someone in the interguild channel announced that VS was up. The question of possibility was first asked... could we? Should we even bother? There was only 7 of us in the channel, just a couple more in guild... but we decided that if we were gonna sit and think we might as well try.
SO, came the mad search for more to join and help. In about 20 minutes, we rounded up an amazing 4 groups -- tons of melees, enough healers and chanters. We had a level 60 warrior, 60 monks 60 chanter, and it was so exciting to see how quickly we formed up and was able to find enough people without doing an /ooc.
I should mention though, that from the beginning, someone said that there was another guild there rubbing us out. This other guild was a guild of 7 at the time. Only a few of them were in the zone. We offered to work with them, but they rejected. And they pretty much said they'd kill VS no matter what.
I looked at how many of them were in zone. Like 1 or 3. Not sure. SO, we ignored them. I shouted out groups. And just as we were doing final invites, someone from the other guild ran in. And within 3 minutes of that guy running in, VS was dead. Ever hear of manaburn? 3 wizards was all it took. Thank god we had no bards with us (SS legs dropped) -- I would have felt even worse for everyone who took the time to get to KC.
I know Win was disappointed. I was too, but we did everything we could, and I was proud that we were able to form up enough people to take down VS in the time it took them to get 3 wizzies.

Well, I guess they already nerfed manaburn (did the patch go thru yet?) but I think a better solution would be to recruit some manaburners.
When you say 'nerf manaburn', you're saying 'take power away from us, the players', which the gods will happily do, every chance they get. Dont ASK for it...
I can't speak for Verant but I don't think they nerfed manaburn to make life easier for non-wizards that have to get 24 man teams together to kill VS. I daresay they're GLAD their lives are hard, cause that means they're not advancing too quickly. Rather, I'd say they nerfed it cause they're mad that the wizzes DON'T have to go through the pain and time of getting the big team together.
I don't know about you guys, but lately, I haven't really found myself thinking: 'Gee, I sure am advancing fast here. I wish Verant would make the game harder, so they can get me under control'. No, I haven't found myself thinking that.

You'd probably feel differently if you were that warrior in EJ who had a full raid set up, and then 6 manaburners ran in right as you were going to engage - and then offered to sell you the green scale for 90k. It's on quellious collective somewhere.
I wish I could say that that was a single case, but across the servers it was becoming the norm. Teams of manaburners would eliminate every large mob the moment it spawned for financial gain. Manaburn is the single most unbalancing thing ever added to the game and it has begged for a nerf since the first time 4 wizards killed a Kunark dragon. By the time those 6 wizards were killing *every* Kunark dragon, every patch day, it screamed for one.

I don't think I'd feel differently. It wouldn't matter to me if the kill-stealers were wizzes or any other class; I'd think they're assholes based on their actions, not their abilities. And I think if we had recruited those 6 wizzes, we'd have a lot more dragon loot right now (obtained in a non-asshole manner, of course).
Any-hoo, even though I'm anti-nerfing in general, I hope whatever changes they DO make to the game, nerfs or otherwise, make things better.

It is a flaw within human nature that if we indeed posess such great power, we exploit it for our own gains...I don't care if you have a halo above your head...this will hardly ever change, or even if you do good sometimes...you do not do it all the time.
Manaburn is such a power that even if you put it to good use you would still use it for personal gains in an asshole way just like sleeka described at some point in the game...I don't care if you are the Pope or Hitler...

I don't believe it. I DEMAND to be given ultimate power, so I can test this theory.
Also, if that little teutonic midget ever tries to steal any of MY kills, he'll be goose-stepping back to the fatherland with a Wu's staff sticking out of his *ss.
There's only room for 1 megalomaniac in this town...
On a side note: Ever notice that in this age of political correctness, Nazi's & terrorists are the only humans left which are ok to beat the hell out of? What is this world coming to...
