It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Very Important Poll - All Members Answer Okay guys, it's time for the gold to end, and here we are begging for money again. Rei, Alena, and I were trying to think up solutions so that we can make money somehow without getting down on our knees and begging! And this is what I thought of... It wouldn't work for this time around, but hopefully the next time gold expires, we'd have enough money so we wouldn't need to beg.
Here's my idea. We would set up an ANDHC comic that would require specific membership. There would be a small initial membership fee of like. 5 dollars, give or take two dollars or so. From that fee you would be a member, and you would receive comics about ANDHC drawn by me, or rei, or anyone interested in making comics for free! These comics would include actual threads with YOUR characters that you have RPed out, and it would include mini-adventures that haven't been played out, and then just random ANDHC art. After the initial membership fee, every few weeks or so there would be another charge of like. Two dollars or so to keep up your membership so that you can continue viewing the comics.
Whoever becomes a member of the comic group can request to have their characters in the comic, or not in the comic, depending on what you think.. It would all be paid by paypal I think, and yeah. That's how it would work. The comics/drawings would come out either three times a week, two times a week, or once a week, I haven't figured it out yet.
And now I'm just wondering if you guys would be interested in that.

I would give money now if I could, but my parents won't let me use their credit card online to pay so I don't have any way to give money. x_x or else I would've been donating a long time ago! That's my only issue... until I have one of my own, which won't be for a while, I don't really have any means of donating money through the internet... *frown*

Yeah I know what you mean -- same here.
Just so ya'll know, the comic wouldn't exist unless people were willing to pay for it =X because a comic would take a lot of time and I'd be doing most of it myself. Unless it were generating money I don't think I could set aside time to do it.

If you need an artist, I think I volunteer. I think the idea is fantastic, really, it's something very different. It would be difficult to make the comics exclusive, since the people who get the comics can easily show the other people on the board. I dunno. o.o

Mm well for artist work I think you and I might be able to split the work 50/50 for story arcs if you think you could help out.
As for keeping it mutually exclusive... Well. We'd trust the members not to spread the images around the board =| and I imagine if anyone got caught spreading images their membership to the comics would be revoked... but yeah other than trusting people there's not much we can do.

I love the idea, and I'd even be willing to do a comic here and there... My art is getting better, and I want to keep doing various things. I'd probably do four panel ones like this comic www.questionablecontent.com

I love the comic idea, but like others have said before me, not everyone has access to a credit card. And money orders are a pain in the arse. Honestly, I don't mind paying for the subscription again this time around. It just sucks because the comics sound awesome, and I know everyone would love to see them...

Yeah I know, I'd love to make a comic just for the fun of it for everyone to see, but unless it were somehow generating money for the board I just don't think I could set aside enough time. I honestly don't even have time to post unless it's the weekend, and that's only at THIS board, not even mentioning the other board I'm at. And the school year is gonna start getting really busy with midterms and then finals and then AP tests and AP portfolios so I'll be devoted to doing a lot of other art >_< If I had more free time we'd definitely look at the idea of doing a free comic and have thought about it a lot. But as it is we really need money =|
we really really really really (times a billion) appreciate all the money you've donated to the board but I just feel BAD Because we always end up riding on your shoulders and this would help take the weight of that off >_< Gold is just so expensive now. 3 months is like 24 dollars and 12 months is 86 or something *forgets*

I love the idea but can't guarentee I'll always have the money to be able to pay for it. I've donated $10 for this time round, but would have to say no to the comic thing, which is a pity, cause the sample one looks fab.

It'd be a whole lot less expensive if most of us got Gold Supporter. Every page view counts into the price whenever a non-Supporter browses the board, and God knows this place gets a LOT of views just going through the threads and announcements. Supporter views don't count in the total. I think that has a lot to do with the astronomical price increase...
Anyway, I'm donating another $20. I'm kind of tight these days, and I'm probably not going to be able to pay off my entire bill next month, but whatever. At least you'll be able to afford 3 more months, and by then hopefully I'll be in the clear... financially at least...

Yeah but the problem with Gold Supporter is that that costs money too doesn't it? XD and the problem with those of us that can't help pay for gold is that we don't have enough money in the first place.
