WAR WITH IRAQ
I posted this in the garden and would like to share my thoughts with you.

After listening to Bush's address to the nation, I felt sick to my stomach. Two words came to my mind when I heard his reasons for declaring war against Iraq - LYING BASTARD. Bush doesn't give a damn about the people of Iraq, just as he didn't give a damn about the people of Afghanistan when the United States invaded Afghanistan to "free" the people from the Taliban.

Below are some quotes from speeches Bush made.

Quote:
The United States of America is a friend to the Afghan people,
Quote:
and we are the friends of almost a billion worldwide who practice the Islamic faith.
Quote:
The United States of America is an enemy of those who aid terrorists
Quote:
and of the barbaric criminals who profane a great religion
Quote:
by committing murder in its name.
Quote:

At the same time,
the oppressed people of Afghanistan
Quote:
will know the generosity of America and our allies.
Quote:
medicine and supplies to the starving and suffering men
Quote:
and women and children of Afghanistan.

Sounds good huh. Yet why was I reading in my local paper just earlier this week that the plight of women hadn't changed at all since the "Liberation" of Afghanistan. I'm sure it's affecting a handful of women mostly those that are fortunate enough to live in larger cities. But what about those who don't. I'm glad to see that 2 years later, America has done so much to change the lives of women over th

Now follow along with me here on qotes he made just yesterday.

Quote:
Many Iraqis can hear me tonight in a translated radio broadcast,
and I have a message for them: If we must begin a military campaign
Quote:
it will be directed against the lawless men who rule your country and not against you.
Quote:
As our coalition takes away their power, we will deliver the food and medicine you need.
Quote:
We will tear down the apparatus of terror and we will help you to build a new Iraq
Quote:
that is prosperous and free.
Quote:
In free Iraq there will be no more wars of aggression against your neighbors,
Quote:
no more poison factories, no more executions of dissidents,
Quote:
no more torture chambers and rape rooms.
Quote:
The tyrant will soon be gone. The day of your liberation is near.

My question is who is BUSH going to replace Saddam with. Doesn't the above statements make you think that Iraq will just become a puppet regime of the United States. This happened during world war II. Have we learned nothing.

Some of the above statements are some of the scariest I have read. I agree that Saddam is a dangerous individual. There are others who have been just as equally dangerous, yet the United States did not lift a finger there. And why would that be. Because there would be nothing gained from becoming involved in such a conflict. Millions of people are dying and starving in Africa because there rulers wage let me quote this again
Quote:
wars of aggression against your neighbor
. So what makes Iraq different from all those countries. I think you know the answer. I also know who the real danger to world peace is - his name is GEORGE W. BUSH.

I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of feedback about this, and it won't all be good, but this is still a free world and as far as I know freedom of speech still exists.

Re: WAR WITH IRAQ
I'm going to go a bit further on this subject because the moral goodness that Bush stands behind just doesnt wash with me.

Additionally to Saddam, there is a long list of other brutal and tyrannical governments, past and present. But of course, they were U.S. approved, or did not affect the vital interests of the states and could therefore be safely ignored.

During the war against Iran, the U.S. supplied Iraq with armaments and the wherewithal to produce poison gas for use on the Iranians. A umber of African countries have been invaded and are still at war but their misfortune is that they do not have any oil.

Yes, Sadam slaughtered thousands of Shiite and Kurdish Iraqis with poison gas left over from the Iran War, in a revolt that was encouraged by the U.S. who then sat back and watched the slaughter from a distance.

So you see, the Americans are portraying themselves as such a peace loving nation yet time again they have interfered in the politics of other countries. One day it will backfire on them to the point that there will be no going back.
