Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)
For as long as amber had knownher mother, Ciana Ramius usually never wear such dresses, but tonight was the most special of occasions. She stepped out a long and body-hugging sapphire blue dress that matched her eyes. Her blond hair, copper-blond like her daughter's hair was pinned up into a glamorous ponytail that her ends curled up. Simply dressed, but it suited her well enough; the woman cheerfully waved to the limo.
Following her was a young Japanese girl of 14 years, dressed in contrast to Amber's mother. She wore a black short yukata with white butterflies fluttering in the black cloth. Her sleeves and sash were lined with white lace and she wore knee high stockings and black platform mary janes. her hair was tied up in a side, curled ponytail held by a white ribbon.

Amber looked out the window quietly, but she smiled. The Japanese girl had already started toward the limo, while Ciana made sure the door was locked. Amber turned to V; she was sure that her mother would like her but she was still nervous.

No telling how they'll act...

V looks out the window, too. And Michael taps on the window which separates the driver from those in the back, and the limousine glides to an effortless stop; Newton might have discovered the laws of physics, but the limousine owns them entirely, all black liquid grace. And all black liquid grace is Michael in his suit and his white-frost hair and his honey-gold eyes, touching his nieces shoulder before he opens the door and gets out. He can play the part of a gentleman all too well. Too competent.

When Amber looks at V, and while Michael gets out to greet the other guests, V leans across the seat toward Amber, and her expression is grave and earnest. The santa hat has fallen on the seat, and her hair is a little mussed; but not much. The black-jewel butterflies make her hair all the more luminous.

"I don't really know what I should say."

With that confession, she gets out too, with her usual assured grace. Force of habit.

"It'll come to you. Trust me."

Amber smiled and followed V out of the car. The moment she had even stepped out, the small Japanese girl dashed over and tackle-hugged Amber. This time, the winged girl had been ready for such a hyper hug and she did not budge from the attack.

"Onee-chan!" The young girl said cheerfully. She looked past her the limo, then to Michael and V. Shyness suddenly got the best of her and she quietly bowed to both before turning to look at V.

"Ah! Himawari-Hime!" The girl said in Japanese while playing with her golden hair. At least until Amber bapped her lightly on the head to stop her.

Ciana Ramius was quite composed herself for once, walking towards the group. She greeted her daughter with a hug and a kiss on the cheek as any mother would. Then she suddenly hugged her tight.

"My little wing, you're dressed all pretty tonight! Though you really should've wore pink for the ballet. Black is so dreary on a night like this."

Spoken like a mother of course. Amber bowed her head, a little embaressed. "Mom..."

And just like that, she had become composed again. The woman flashed a smile and reached her hand out to Michael to shake his. Not exactly the hyper woman that Amber had briefly described back in the dorm.

"Nice to meet you sir. I'm Ciana. I'm sure this will be a lovely evening for all of us."

Then her blue eyes landed on V. After a short silence, the woman reached out and hugged the young girl as she had her own daughter (and yet without managing to mess up her wings).

"Little Wing, is this your friend? She's so adorable! And she has such pretty hair too!"

Re: Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)

When the fourteen year old bows, both Vendettas return the bow; perfectly courteous. Michael's moon-white hair takes light; Genevieve's provides it. Neither interferes with the family greetings; however, when Ria starts to play with V's hair and Amber baps Ria on the head, V glances sidelong up at her uncle, partly to see his reaction, partly to take her cue. Michael smiles, lopsided. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ria," says, after the blink accompanying the realization of - hyper little fourteen year old playing with my hair. Because, who else would it be

Meanwhile, Michael shakes Ciana's hand - laughing at her, or at least, Amber's reaction to her. He's got a nice laugh; pleasing to hear, and it has the air of being rare, although it isn't. "Michael, not sir. I'm just glad you could both come." He winks at Ria and Amber. "Our balcony will be radiant with loveliness."

When Ciana's eyes rest on V, and there's the short little space of silence, V keeps her hands behind her back. A habit. And she nods her head; graceful little swan. "It's a pleasure to meet you, too, Mrs. Rami..." But when Amber's mom hugs her, the words evaporate in the surprise.

Re: Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)
Amber sighed, it wasn't too unusual of her mother to react in such a way, especially when it came to greetig new people. Cute children were the most suceptible to her mother's hugs. However, it was a little different when it came to the few friends Amber had made since childhood...

"Ah, mom. This is V." Amber said softly, blushing with embaressment. "This is the one I told you about earlier. But she's not a doll..."

Ciana released the girl from the hug and instead played with her hair.
"I know, I know but she's just so adorable! And her little swan wings are so cute too!"
The woman glanced at her daughter then to V, her voice calmed and composed now.
"I'm glad to see Little Wing found herself a good friend."

Re: Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)
First, Michael plays with her hair (via Santa Hat, it's true), and then the adorable, hyper Japanese girl (are they adopted sisters? V wonders what the true story is, behind that), and now even Amber's mom; it makes her glad that she only swept some of the strands up, and those, with the (onyx, blade-sharp) black butterflies. Only Amber still needs to toy with a flyaway curl!

V's cheeks are a little flushed, and she's on her very demurest behavior, extremely reserved (centered), but she meets Ciana's eyes at that last comment. Calm: "Thank you."

"We should probably be going, ladies," Michael says, and he's pleased; he gives his niece a half-smile. Not sinister; trustworthy, the way good weapons are trustworthy; they don't break. Reliable, reliant; reflective of light. "We don't want to be too late; some other members of the family might meet us there."

With that, competent Michael will somehow get everybody situated inside the limousine and (again) it'll purr to life and (motionless) motion -- roll down the street, toward the theater.

[Inside the limousine]

Michael will pass out those boxes Amber saw earlier. There's one for her, one for Ciana and one for Ria (and one, of course, for V).

Re: Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)
Finally, those mysterious boxes that had caught Amber's eye when she had first entered the limo were now being passed among the women in the car. Amber held the box in her hands; how light it felt, almost as if there was nothing inside.

Ah but there was, as Ria had opened her box almost immediately. Inside her box were the gentle pink, the familiar scent of the one flower she had not seen since she left Japan; cherry blossoms. Ria squeaked with delight, showing Amber her favorite flower.

Ciana had opened hers and her blue eyes lit up at the sight of a flower that almost looked as delicate and lovely as any rose.
"Gardenia..." she said softly. She looked over the flowers quietly, but her smile was warm. Nostalgic almost.

Now it was Amber's turn to open her box. She only lifted the lid and saw the color of the petals, pink, with some slits of red in the center, leading to the center of bright yellow. Amber's eyes lit up just as her mother had at the sight of her gardenia.

"Peony..." A flower from her past, one her father always liked to put in her hair. A special memory that she had not thought about in years. Amber lifted the flowers from her box and held the flowers in her hands. How light, how gentle...how beautiful.

Re: Waltz of the Flowers (Cont.)
Briefly, V touches her shoulder to Michael's, in appreciation. He gives her a sidelong look, and taps the slender box she holds in her lap; V likes to watch other people open presents. Voyeuristic tendencies. She gives Michael a sidelong look, and then, with the most elegant gestures, undoes the ribbon. Neat, precise, and - voila!

V's bouqet isn't only one flower. Pale and pink cherry blossoms and moon-glow honeysuckle and white violets, their hearts streaked purple, all wrapped up with a dark purple ribbon. Then, for a splash of colour, a sunflower - large thing, drinks up light.

Thirty minutes later...
