June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Welcome to Mercury ManorWho: All ANDHC characters that are students in the current role play unless a student character brings an older character as a guest.
What: A ten year reunion hosted by the rich and famous Armand D’Angelo-Crestmere at his incredibly huge mansion. All characters that were students in the 2008-2009 school year are invited to come and make merry with the older versions of their peers. So you’ll need to think about where your character will be ten years after the current game play!
When: March 28th, 2019.
Where: Armand’s Mansion, of course!
Why: For fun! That’s the ONLY reason. Everything that takes place during this reunion is just a POSSIBLE future. Meaning that I can decide Breena will be a rock star, but if I change my mind during the current game play, I am NOT bound to that initial decision. That’s our disclaimer, so don’t feel reluctant to get involved because you’re afraid to make any crucial decisions. This is all just light hearted fun to celebrate ANDHC’s second birthday.
Now we want this to be fun, but there’s a few rules that we need to abide by, just for some structure.
1. Everyone should post a separate thread for their conversations, so everyone involved in each thread are directly related to one another. Just so it’s easier to sort out conversations, and it also allows play to take place at different times.
2. Date your thread with a TIME. Since this is all taking place in one night, we want people to be able to post in more than one thread at a time, but since characters can’t be in more than one place at once time, posting a time on each thread will help us avoid confusion.
3. Please read the description of rooms before posting, and specify a location for each post. This doesn’t have to be in the thread title if it gets too long or what not, so you can make it just at the top of each thread.
4. Make sure you talk to other people about future relations, just in case you're assuming something other than what they want for their characters in the future. This kinda goes without saying, but we figured we should get it out there just in case!
What seemed like an army of owls flew out from the Mercury Manor, some only going a short distance while others would fly across the world in search of their targets. All of the owls were different; some were white, others black, and still otheres tawny or brown. They were of varying shapes and sizes, but all carried the same letter, closed with a rather eerie wax seal.
And upon reaching their destination, each own would present the sealed envelope to its recipiant, wait patiently for, perhaps, a bite to eat and a drink before flying back out of the window and disappearing into the sky. Upon opening the envelope, two things drop out. One piece of paper contains the directions to a rather isolated location within the forests of Great Britan while the other is a letter.
The Mercury Manor
[Compliments of Rei...just re-posted them!]
The Mercury Manor is a rather monstrous estate, recently inherited by Armand D'Angelo-Crestemere from his late father. It remained unused for quite a while, but after his prolonged stay in New York, Armand returned to Britain and finally began to do a bit of work on the large estate. Many expensive paintings were sold and instead replaced by vintage movie and concert posters, all which are framed and kept safe from curious hands of whoever might enter. A many number of things were sold and replaced by whatever Armand decided to buy, and, just for fun, the young man even had some trap doors and secret passageways placed behind bookcases and all the cliche locations as well as some lesser known spots. But the estate remains, for the most part, very elegant and awe-inspiring.
Inside:
Entrance
The entrance to the manor consists of two very large oaken doors. These doors are controlled magically, thus no physical strength need be used to move these gigantic doors. The entrance then leads into a rather large room, with many directions one could go. There are hallways to the left and right, as well as two sets of staircases that curve around the room and merge into one at the far end and lead up into further rooms.
Dining Hall
The dining hall can be almost considered somewhat of a ballroom and is where the main part of the reunion will be held. The room is the largest in the entire estate, decorated with several large chandeliers as well as many other fancy decorations that were put up for the occasion. The room is the epitome of the theme of the reunion (a fancy gala) and there are several tables spaced out for people to sit, as well as an area near the refreshment tables and the band for people to dance or simply stand and chat with their friends.
Game Room
In the dining hall, there is a tall oak door that leads to a smaller room. The room is dimly lit and everything about the room is dim. The carpet is dark green in colors and even the walls appear somewhat dark. On one side of the room is a bar, complete with stools and a bartender. One can get nearly any kind of drink they desire. The room is furnished with a fireplace as well as many comfortable couches and easy chairs, all blood red in color. There are also some tables, cards, and chips if one wished to play poker and, for those who don't wish to gamble, there are a variety of boardgames on the far wall as well as a few pool tables.
Den
The den is a large, comfortable area, left for those who simply wish to lounge around. There is a sound system playing easy jazz, kept on low volume so as not to drown out those who wish to talk. The walls are decorated with some recent movie and concert posters, all framed. There is a big screen television set next to the sound system, but it is kept off so as not to distract anyone. An array of movies, both VHS and DVD are on shelves next to the TV. There is a coffee table as well as a large couch for people to relax and lay back in.
Librarby
The library is quite impressive, having a very large variety of books, both hardcover and paperback. There are even some very ancient, leatherbound books, most likely containing spells from the older days. The room is rather circular, unlike the other rooms, thus enabling the sliding ladder to reach every shelf. The books go rather high up the walls, but the ladder extends itself accordingly. There are several desks and chairs for anyone to sit down and examine the books that are within the library. Because there are so many books, they are sectioned off into biographies, spell books, genres of fiction, etc. so it is quite simple to find a desired book.
Entertainment Hall
This is a rather extensive hallway on the second floor, also the most prominent. It reaches mostly all of the other rooms within the second floor and thus is long and very wide, with doorways on either side of it. But there are long stretches were there aren't any doors at all and where ever there is an open spot, there is a poster or an old vinal record jackets, all framed and clearly vintage. Everything in the hallway is original, made in the exact time of whatever it is it is depiciting. There are movie posters from the 20s and other decades as well as actual records and record jackets. Everything is related to either movies or music, thus the hall is properly named the Entertainment hall.
Master Bedroom
As its name, the master bedroom is the largest bedroom within the manor. It is located on the second floor along with the rest of the bedrooms, though unlike the other bedrooms, this bedroom has double doors, wooden and painted a vibrant red. This was the room that went through the most change, for Armand nearly tore the whole thing apart and remade it to his own taste. The whole floor is carpeted with dark red and there is a black rug that leads to the bed on the far side of the room, which is large and round. There is a fire pit within the room, as well as an armchair, a coffee table, and a rack where Armand keeps his most prized guitar and electric bass. There is a glass door that leads to a terrace that overlooks the grass and the trees outside. The whole room has a much more modern feel to it that the rest of the manor.
Bedrooms
There are several other bedrooms within the manor, all considerably smaller than the master bedroom, but beautiful nonetheless. The beds are all king-sized and the rooms contain at least one arm chair (the bigger ones have two or three), a coffe table, and a window looking out to either the courtyard or the forest.
Outside:
The Forest: There have always been stories about the forest that surrounds Mercury Manor. Some say it's haunted with angry spirits that haven't yet achieved their unfinished business. Rumor or truth? Definitely a rumor. But the truth about the forest is that during full moons, you can hear the cries and howls of werewolves. The forest never sleeps.
The Courtyard: What could be a stunning and gorgeous courtyard, the courtyard of Mercury Mansion has been abandoned and uncared for. Empty stone garden boxes line the outside of the courtyard, and a large fountain is placed in the middle. The fountain still spills water, but nothing else in the courtyard has been cared for. But if you're looking for a place to sit down outside, there are several stone benches in the courtyard for your leisure.
Roof Tops: Ever since the beginning of Armand's reign at Mercury Manor, he installed doors in the ceiling of every tower. So if you're daring enough, you can push up the doors and stand at the top of the towers of the mansion, giving you the best view of the surrounding forest.
The Stable: Armand was never the type to keep horses. So instead, his stable serves as a sort of storage room. Randomly scattered around the room are old instruments that he no longer uses, but just can't bare to throw away. Along the walls are the most ridiculous portraits you've ever seen. One, the portrait of Old Man Winkles, speaks only in iambic pentameter. Another, Osephjay Rownbay speaks only in pig Latin. Other than the crazy portraits, Armand has a few of belated family members every here and there that are always willing to give their crazy advice to anyone that enters.
The Balcony: A balcony stands at the front of Mercury Mansion, high enough to give you a good view of everything around you without having to risk your life by going on top of the towers. If you wish to spy on incoming guests to the reunion, the balcony is the perfect location.
