Werthyn
There is some further discussion concerning the need for provisions and the best way to proceed, but the goal of reaching Werthyn is at least one thing everyone can agree on. So after gathering their gear and bidding farewell to their hostess, Madragar, Meneloss, Vala, Ruig, Draxim, Yimris, Atan, Kezib and yes, even the silent Ruglan, set off for Werthyn along the coast road.
The journey is, again, uneventful. Clouds of deeper gray roll in from the sea and douse the travellers with a light drizzle as they walk the well worn roadway. Although it would not have been unusual for them to meet other travellers heading west to Dobrug, the road appears to the theirs alone.
Departing from the coast road, Atan, Yimris, Meneloss, Ruglan and Sangraal lead the way through the quiet farmland west of Tunlura. Such a large and diverse group of travellers attracts a lot of attention from the local peasant farmers, who pause from their work to watch the group pass. Just as the sun dips below the horizon the road weary travellers reach the walls of Werthyn. There they are greeted by the energetic, young Nrulias and his two Olmani companions, Kashan and Bulh.
"Ah, back so soon? And this time with friends." [Read the Hunting Broo threads if you haven't already.]
Introductions are made and Nrulias escorts the group through the gates and into the longhouse. The scene is very similar to the one of two night's ago, but Hegi is nowhere to be found. Nrulias explains that she is resting after her exertions of the day.
"We heard the rumbling from Old Kurlew last night and Hegi spoke to the trees and the mountains. They said there had been a battle, and the mountain was torn."

Re: Werthyn
[OOC - Scott - Would Madragar and Vala have left the party prior to this, or is it on their way?]
[On their way where? I was under the impression they were headed for Tunlura. That is, if they want to go farther they have to cross the river. -GM]
[On their way to Tunlura. So it is on their way. Okay. Across the river it is. - Tarondor]

Re: Werthyn
"Yes we have friends with us. They need new clothes too!" Chuckling, he grabs Druig and puts his finger through a hole in his tunic to illustrate his point. "The wool-spinners can make some moneies tonight." He goes on: "Some here will go to Old Kerlew to see this 'battle' so we need food which keeps some days, like the stuff you gave before. We have money to pay. Maybe you will come with us?"

Re: Werthyn
[Druig? There's a Draxim and a Ruig, but no Druig.]
"I'm not sure I want to know what made those holes," Nrulias ponders. "I'll see that you receive a visit from the womenfolk in the morning. As for supplies, we have bread and vegetables mostly. Until the ford is clear we won't have much in the way of meat - just a few chickens."
[When all is said and done, a new set of clothes will cost one silver. They can provide each person five days of trail rations free of charge.]
Nrulias looks very eager to investigate the sounds of the night before, but he sighs and says, "no, I need to be here. Kashan, Bulh and I are the only trained swords these people have. But good luck to you. Please let us know what you find out."

"Nrulias, how is the ford blocked? Surely it is too early in autumn to have ice."

Re: Dwarves
"True, but that storm must have filled the mountains with rain. All the fords between Raven's Gate and the sea are washed out. It isn't uncommon at this time of year, and the fords should be clear in a day or so."

Sleep and such
"Oh yes, the storms!", Atan remarks with a smile. "I should have put that one together.
Looking around at his companions, "I hope it is not to much trouble putting us up for the night again? We thank you for the gracious hospitality your village has shown us. Even though I think we plan on departing tommorow, is there anything we can help with while we are here?"

Re: Sleep and such
"There's plenty of room in the workhouse, if you don't mind being cozy with your companions. There's nothing to be done until we know more about those terrible sounds."
Nrulias smiles and gives Atan a hard slap on the shoulder, raising a cloud of road dust from his travel worn armor. "But for now you can help by lightening our keg. Tell me, what news from the west?"

Sweet,sweet beer...
Sangraal smiles at the offer of food and drink.
"A fine ale would be a nice ending to the day. As to news from the west, we know little more then when we left days prior. We heard the giants thunder and heard news that 2 other broo bands are also on the move. Where they are is anybodies guess."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Draxim will consult with the weavers as to how to best fit clothes that were made for taller people to himself and Ruig. He will also look into the posibilty of replacing his bedroll and blanket, as well as oilskins against inclement weather.
[He also tries to get different colored clothes then Ruig. Presumably this will help Menefinith who can't tell the difference between a one foot beard of white and a two foot beard of whatever color Ruig's beard is.]
At the metion of beer though, that same evil smile from before appears, and Draxim becomes single minded about getting tipsy after his clothing chores are done.

"Oh and does anyone has any rope they are willing to part with so I don't have to keep relying on Meneloss's finely braided hemp. And oil. " he says loosely and loudly with a speck of beer foam surfing the coarse hair on his upper lip.

The clothing for the dwarves will be hemmed appropriately.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Atan looks quickly at Sangraals upon his mentioning of the 2 other Broo warbands. Shaking his head grimly, "They are dead. The two other packs went North towards Dobrug with a large band of Merek Lek in dogged pursuit. If they moved like the group we tracked they would have been overtaken. I am confident those spawnlings of chaos never saw the end of the week."
Visibly brightening, "But tonight we will not fret over animal men." Returning Nrulius gesture, Atan jovially slaps Nrulias shoulder, "Now I need to wash all this road dust from my throut and an ale sounds like just the medicine."
[OOC: Later Atan will also seek out a healer and try and procure a healing kit if one is available.]

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
"Ahh, some rest." Kezib says. Relatively at ease Kezib grabs his mug and stands at the front door, looking outside at the wonders of the world. Thinking of his friends and really pondering on their adventures, he thanks Yelm for sparing him the evil visions that they saw at the village.
"The vile broo. Taking life at whim, wherever they see fit. What makes them gods in this relm that they can do what they want." Kezib says to himself.
Slowly calming himself down, mentally, by taking a couple of deep breaths he remembers the words his father told him on a visit from the monistary, after hearing his baby brother was killed by an attack by the broo, "Its the way of Chaos".
"Indeed" Kezib says to himself, "it is the way of Chaos".
Taking one last deep breath, Kezib turns and joins the others.

[gm note]
Draxim and Ruig begin an animated conversation in dwarvish. From their stance and tone of voice it is clear to the observers that they are discussing that favorite of dwarvish topics: money.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
[There are no "healing kits" per se, but Atan can secure a bundle of clean bandages and a small clay jar full of medicinal goo (herbs, oils and ground up roots that help prevent infection). It's good for several applications and is provided by Hegi free of charge.]
Nrulias quizzes the group on life in Dobrug and in the Nral River valley, a conversation that attracts a few of the local boys. These farmers, and Nrulias included, are hungry for information of the outside world. Few travellers make it down the Werthyn as most prefer to make straight for Tunlura or Thasvara. The young farm boys' eyes go wide as they hear tales of dusky Olmani caravans, exotic Lunar traders, and the dangers of the Nral river.
It becomes clear after speaking to these headstrong youths that not all is well in Tunlura. The farmers and herders, known as the Hands of Autumn, are in constant conflict with an influential trading house in the town called House Ailus. These merchants, according to the young farmers, are greedy devils that find any excuse to lower what they're wiling to pay for grain and cattle.
"The stars are not aligned, the feed is tainted by Chaos, the cattle are sick... they are bastard liars!" one scrappy farmboy barks.
Yet, House Ailus has a strangle hold on the Rhevas river all the way to the sea, so the Hands of Autumn must deal with them. More than once, Nrulias mentions, Ara (the leader of the herdsmen) has led his men into the town to bring their grievances before the judges.
"Burhaval is a good man, and isn't under the thumb of Ailus. No one disputes his judgement. And Dala Marda is always sympathetic to the Hands."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Since it looks like some if not all of his companions are going to start hitting the sauce just shortly after noon (?) Yimris will go out and spend the rest of the day hunting for the pot. He will range out quite a ways (3-5 miles) so as to not interfere with the normal hunting around the village.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Upon seeing Yimris leaving to go on the hunt, Kezib figures that this would be a good time to do a little bit of training. Seeking out Sangraal, Kezib says "I think that this is a good time for a little bit of sparing, brother, if your are up for it. Lets see if you have learned anything from your travels with our new companions". Kezib smiles at Sangraal.
[Waiting for Sangraals response]

If it's that late then the hunting idea will have to wait.
