What costumes are worn in the SGC?
The costumes I've either assembled, partly assembled or have helped with (with reference to SGC Personnal) would be as follows: -

Exploring Greens
Dress Blues
Casual Blues
Slouching Blues / Greens
Blacks
Gate Guard / Officer
Prometheus / F302
Doctor / Nurse

Of all of these Exploring Greens would be the most popular as it's the one most seen on the series, second most popular would probably be dress blues (both movie and series style) which made a big appearance and some previous Wolf SG Cons and the easiest is probably the Prometheus / F302 pilot as it's basically a blue flightsuit with the right badges on it. With a lot of costumes from any genre the feeling of accomplishment (with me anyway) is getting the little bits right as well as the big bits (right Space Command badge on the beret, hip mounted respirator for the Gate Guard, etc.) I have acquired a lot of the components of these costumes from the US but a lot can be found in this country if your prepared to do the legwork (my dress blues came from the Beltring military show).

So, where do people want to start?

Colonel have you found a UK source for the Slouching Blues/Green Shirts? As in getting an Explorer green togoether I felt getting a slouch green shirt would be a good acompliment for when at cons and after running around all explored up then being able to do a quick dump of all the hot stuff and weapons throw on the shirt and be comfortable but still in costume :) If no UK source I've seen the ones on USCAV are they what you have and how accurate/good are they?

BDU's
Lee, I've not found a UK supplier of the right BDU jackets (the ones with epaulettes) but depending on cost and time USMC definitely had a fairly full range of BDU's (minus epaulettes) last time I looked. Gateroom.com has found a source for the right jackets in the US: -

Re: BDU's
The outinstyle BDU jackets look good. But which length?

BDU Length
John,

Difficult to say but nominallly I'd go for regular (after watching an episode tonight). It would be nice if we could get some clarification on how these sizes (regular, long) translate into the real world (how much longer is the 'long' size). Looking at Jackson tonight his jacket could be a 'long' one but it's hard to say.

Re: BDU Length
I agree entirely. Not having the benefit of seeing an episode today...I still seem to remember them being quite long. I think O'Neils one was quite long too?

I may order the regular just to see what it looks like (then if it's not long enough, I can sell it to a ShortGate team member)

BDU Length
John,

The below link is a page from the SG costuming website, specifically it shows one of my team (Tim) in his slouching blues getup, AFAIK this is a regular jacket, I've never knowingly seen or bought a 'long' jacket so not 100% sure what the differences are.

Well the regular looks just fine there, so I guess when I can afford to order a regular it is :)

Re: jackets
I've got one of these jackets from StargateJackets.co.uk. Unfortunately, I accidently got sent one with the wrong patch size. :(

However....The very nice Gent there is going to replace the Jacket, and make one other minor alteration that I asked for too! Can't ask for better service.

The quality is extremely good, it's been put together very well.

As soon as I get the Jacket back, I'll give you guys a detailed review of the Jacket. I can't wait!
