What happens when....,
Your stuff gets snatched?

I'm very very evry sensitive to others messing with anything that I own. You know I trust you very much if I don't mind you going through what I own and poking about or playing with things. There is a part of me that is irritated by my possesivness, but then I'm even more irratated by those who seem to not pay attention or care about how they are handling things.

I don't own alot of "expensive" stuff. I've never had the money for it really, nor the passion to collect such things. There are a few games that I have an eye for, but I can't afford the newer systems to play them.

Two days ago, May 30th, I got my GBA swiped.

I was at work, on my Lunch hour ( dinner hour ). I was in the Snack Bar talking with a friend there who was working the Snack Bar. She had just closed up, and these people walked up. now I wasn't payin them no mind, as I didn't want to make eye contact. I was not feeling the most chipper and didn't want to have to deal with people that I didn't know.

Wrong move number one.

Wrong move number two was leaving my GBA out on the table, exposed.., and ON. I was playing Pokemon Saphire ( yes I play pokemon ;) ) and of course its bait for any sticky fingered little kid.., perfect bait.

I had it on, /because/ i didn't want it stolen.., I was listening for it..., then I didn't hear it anymore, turned aorund.., and it and the people were gone. POOF!!!

I went on a rampage around the store looking for this person., who since I didn't pay attention to them I couldn't positivly ID. I ran outside to see if they went out there. Nope not there, they HAD to be in the store or had to have walked up past the end of the shopping plaza. So back into the store I went.

I hit the back room, and looked for the night manager..., who was a visiting on from another store and didn't have the keys to the security room......., no one did apperantly. So I couldn't get to see what happened behind my back..., and I couldn't get a positive look at the people who had been there.

Frustration and anger. Blood-thirst type of anger. The talon-rending, teeth baring primal fury, death-wishing type of anger. Anger at myself, anger at who took it, anger at not being able to rectify the situation.., OR get any help what so ever. Red-blood-hate-fury anger. I actually scared myself as the thoughts flooded my hind-brain, enough to keep from growling at everyone who went by. Whoo..., o.O

Now its been two days, and I'm am trying to find a way to either make more money to get the two things stolen from me back..., or find some way of helping my situation. I feel helpless.., and I'm an Aries.., feeling helpless is the worst things right now for me.

Now I /don't/ want the new one. I've played with the model in the store I work at, and its not comfprtable to my hands. I /guess I could get used to it, but it self.., it costs about 100 bucks. No go.

I found this site, but I don't drink alot of snapple.

yardsale.snapple.com/Prog...egoryId=57

I would place a jar up by the Snack Bar, but then again I may not get enough of them before this deal is over.

I've had offers by good buddies who want to buy it for me, but it still makes me feel helpless.

That piece was a piece, I guess you could say, of my Horde. Dude you just can't easily replace that. It had personality of sorts. The face plate was all scratched up and smeary, and the back battery cover I broke off. I had a massive light thinger for it, and I carried it with me just about where ever I went. It was carried with my sketchbooks.

*paces*

Now the reason why I share this with you is not to rant or rave, but to share. The more I vent about this the easier it is. Plus some of you here will understand most deeply how this hurts me.., better then many of those muns out there who would just tell me.., "Oh grow up already". :P

I share this here as a story-tale, so that maybe just maybe Karma will back hand the littl brat that did this.

I share here so that maybe we can start a story-tale ( non rant ) of some of the most agrrivating things we've had to deal with. A sort of Cathrdict (sp) sharing of stolen-goods-type-pain. ;)

*sighs*

Re: What happens when....,
Well, anything that involves me usually involves instant-Karma (just add acts of good or bad!), so perhaps this -was- something like that?

I'd.... say that there was a reason for this, a lesson of some sort. I know how it feels to lose such a thing. >_< almost exactly know how it feels. I had a gameboy (the oldest, brown-screened big fat one that they used to sell) that was very close to me, and then I had to set it on top of the car-roof.... the sloped car roof... and of course it slid off and smashed onto the side-walk. Sure, I was only seven at the time, but that was like having a pet die or something! It was hopelessly broken. *sigh*

I think game-boys are like karma tokens. They're waiting to teach you one thing or another. I learned to never put anything on the roof of a car. I don't know what you can gain from this, other than not to leave valuable things next to people, or that the general public is not a good thing. I think the best thing you could do is phone whatever version of Crime Stoppers you've got, and get more people to look for it. Post papers. Perhaps you can guilt trip the kid (if it was a kid.... did you notice if they looked old? Their dress style, shoes, if you didn't look at their faces?) into returning it. Cash reward? I know, that would be horrible to reward someone for stealing, but if bad-thing-vengeance-justice is within your limits, you could use trickery.

*hugs* I hope you get it back. Unless there's a reason for it (that we don't know of) it's just not nice to seperate a person/dragon from their material stuff. *nods* Good luck!

Roooaaar...I would blow up into trueform and attack anyone who even thought about stealing anything remotely game related of mine, I'm very sorry that you had to deal with such a loss :(

I too hope you can get it back, or can get a new one. You can always check used videogame shops like Funcoland, Gamestop, Babbages..I don't know if any of these are near you, but they all usually have the old systems a lot cheaper than they would be new. Maybe they have an old version GBA! Best of luck to you!

Thanks guys ^.^ *hugs*

I think things like that are a type of Karma token, but what have I done "wrong" or haven't done yet? I don't know. *shrugs*

Re: What happens when....,
Hope you get it all sorted out, 'hart. What's the state of things now? Gonna get a new one?

I read your post a while ago, actually, but I didn't reply right away so's I could think about it a while ... what things DO raise the fire in me? I came to the conclusion that there are three things, when expressed in the extreme and prove detrimental to those that can't defend themselves -- usually, I think, it involves wildlands or animals that just happen to be in the way of people and their money.

Stupidity (willfully stupid, meaning that they do things because they can or because they don't bother to think about outcomes), senselessness (lack of common sense, lack of sense of altruism (in several directions: toward other people, toward the natural world, toward future generations)), and lack of honor (plain and simple, that).

It takes a lot to really raise the fire; I'm pretty laid-back and possibly more forgiving than I should be. I can't really remember the last time I was white-hot mad (but it might have been the CompUSA incident...). Mostly, people just amaze and disappoint me. And every time I think I can't be surprised by the stupid stuff people do, someone finds a way.

Meh. Well, that's my two cents.

Re: What happens when....,
:: nods :: This is why I like ( as sick as it may seem ) the Darwin Awards. Its helps to ease my irritation at the stupid ones, as the really stupid ones get themselves killed off. *snorts and chuckles*

Seriously, though, as for the GBA.., I'm not sure. If I get another one I may end up not playing it at all. Just one of those little things, ya know? That its not "mine" and that the game I had been working on is now lost. :P All that "wasted time" is now truely wasted time.

Other things that have gotten me so mad are usually at those who hurt or abuse the people I consider family. One of my old college roomies was being stalked by some wacko at our dorms. I approached him, seething, and told him off. All the while of speeking with him I was flexing my hands as if they were talons. He was one of those really scarry types, and I felt that my own safety as well as that of my other roomies, were in danger.

Mostly its stupidity, personally. Like you said the extreme amounts of people just not thinking though they could if they tried.

"Self imposed Stupidity"

They don't want to learn anything different then what they know already. Racists are one of them. :P I chew them for dinner. ^.^

Re: What happens when....,
^_^ I'm sorry, but those -are- funny. I know the feeling about wasted time. Maybe it was a 'hey, you should be spending time doing something else' thing, rather than a 'I punish you by taking away your things' thing.

In any case, I think the only thing we can do about these stupid people is just point them out to everyone when we get the chance... maybe then they'll change their ways? >_< That's a stupid philosophy.
