Where I made cut backs
Bags of Doritios/snacks
Carbonated beverages
Cheap family meals out
Take out/fast food lunches at work
Pizza delivery
Tv dinners
Cigarettes
Cable TV
Salon

Making a decision to really put effort into these cutbacks gave our family an extra $6K. Sure we slipped a lot and bought these things occasionally, but made a serious effort to cut back. We had lots of smaller things we cut back on too, but these were some of the larger poor decisions we were making.

A lot of things can be compromised and done cheaply. It's up to you to decide what is the priority in your finances.

Re: Where I made cut backs
I totally agree. We made a lot of our cutbacks in those areas. Soda alone was costing us a small fortune yearly. It might seem dumb, but it adds up fast. Our family ate out weekly. I think I am happier just having quality time with my family. It doesn't really matter where we are.
