Will Christina's New Album Appeal To R&B Fans???
OK- so we all know that Christina hated the 'pop' stuff she did on her debut album and that this time she says is gonna come with something more soulful/R&B etc...
My question is... will fans buy her as a legit R&B artist?
Will it be to hard for her to bust out of her pop image/sound and convince us that she REALLY is R&B? Cuz R&B isn't only a kind of music, it is a lifestyle and a state of the soul as well.
Do you think she will just put R&B elements along with Pop in her next record or do you think she will try to pull off some Alicia Keys neo-soul/hip-hop/R&B stuff?
How far will she go- and will she have to fight the record label to do what she wants?
I can imagine they are not really gonna be happy if she does something so different that it affects her sales.
I just hate to think of what will happen to her if she goes overboard and pisses off her fanbase. That is what killed Mariah's career.
My feeling is that artists today jump to soon to get a major label deal and let the labels totally turn them into something they're not (P!nk for example). Maybe if they had put out records on their own they way they WANTED too then the labels would have signed them just as they are. Then you wouldn't have to come out one way and have to fight to be yourself on every record after that. Does anyone else feel me on this?
The singer in my signature is doing that (doing independent records the way she wants them) and tho it might be a harder way to break into the business, at least you don't have to deal with pissing people off who liked you the way you came out andhaving a label breathing down your back tellig you how to sing, write, act, dress talk and everything else.
What are your opinions?
