World Bible - REALMS - Name: Realms Open/Mod Mod - Note on Mod: *Anyone may request to run rp's in the realms. *Must have a GM/ST for any stories run in Realms. Any World-*Plot changes must be adhered to ( if it affects the storyline ). Overview Intro: I created a world along time ago so that I could play a dragon character. Many of the rp systems out there state that allowing a pc to run a dragon character tends to lead to problems. This is true on many fronts, and often a normal "humaniod" party of pcs will often either abuse the power a dragon character has, or the party will ostricize the character/player for playing a character that could easily get the party killed. I normally view these types of situations as amusing, since it makes the party memebers THINK more then rely on their sheets or skill sets. If you were in neogitations with some mostly hostile group and the dragon blows them off because they couldn't hurt the dragon, the rest of the party has to do some real fancy foot work in order to either fix the problem or just plain survive. Now that's just funny. But then again.., *evil grin* I have that twisted streak in me. So, being sick of not being able to a) be trusted by most people because they think I'm playing a dragon character only for the "power " of it ( ie Powermonger, or Beef rp'er ), or b) having to be used all the time, or c) just being told NO..., I made up my own realm. In fact I've been working on it so long that I've begun structing a table-top dice system for it. but thats much later. Its called REALMS. Important Geography - World Descripts: The Worlds: Think Solar Systems, yes plural.., why? Well one fo the oldest and most venerated of the Clans of Dragons is a species that cannot actualy fit on most planets.., yes they are that massive. These are the Stellar or "Void" dragon clan. They rule and protect the outter worlds and the Realm paths ( gateways ) between planets. There are planets ( known only as Realms to all the other races and Clans as the Voids only know of this "Outer world" of theirs ) that range in temperature and clime as well as base chemical compositions. Its all very complex so I'll leave most of this out. Each of these Realms is ruled by one particular, or shared by "Cousin", Dragon Clans. Dominant Cultures / Other Cultures The Society: The society is strictly feudal. All the other "Lesser" races are the main vassals/serfs that work the land. Only those particular Races that have been claimed "Protected" by the Council are considered "people". All others are, well, food. There are few to no humans in any of the realms. They are not persucuted or hunted, but neither are they given much in the way of allowences either. Most humans are considered to have lost all if not most of their insincts and can be very dangerous. The whole reason the REALMS exist is that the Patron "Godess" Allura, created these places ( hidden the solar systems ) so that dragons would survive the bloody Wars. She selected form each of the different places she knew of, dragons of special talent, skills, and understandings. She showed them how to get to her special place, and they brought both relitives as well as servants species. Some species were already on these Realms, but bowed before the powers of the dragons. They didn't want to get eaten. I mean really.., would you? The People: There are as many different races of the People, as there are snowflakes. How is this? Some of the gateways from other worlds have been set to "One Way" openings and occasionally suck up random beings by accident. So you get all sorts wandering in here and settling down. Some of them actually cross-breed with some of the natives and you end up with hybrid species. Anthro-morphs, morphics ( shapeshifters ), Mythics, humans ( very rare ), humaniods ( dwarves, gnomes, elves ), elementals, all sorts live in the REALMS. The Dragons: The Clans are elemental based. There are Three Clans per elemental set. Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. But there are only 12 Clans. When the dragons first settled and divided, many dragon generations past, they started bickering between themselvs as to how they should rule over the land as a whole. They were blessed as the care givers and protectors of this "paradise" by Allura, but they did not know how to govern themselves.., she kinda left that up to them. Well a war broke out and all most all of the Spirit Clans were wiped out. There sleeps an egg-heavy Matriarch of each of these three "Lost" Clans, but no-one knows where. At least this is what the old stories tell.., then again only a few of the more superstious believe in such things (( When I find my notes, I'll post the Clan names )) PC charcters: For the ease of rp, unless one is dubbed otherwise, all the Council and upper ranks amoung the dragons are all NPC. If you wish to use or be in contact with such characters, please see the GM to make sure it won't interupt the story line. Being that this is very open ended board, there isn't any real strict "rules" besides 'Check with the main GM about the story line.' All characters playing ( unless otherwise dubbed ) can have these 'ranks' to play with. People (non-dragons) Hatchlings Fledglings Sevitors (Rank one, basically go-fers or adventuring dragons who have not yet earned a place in the rankings (and for that matter any social-bounds obligations ) ) Guardians ( Rank 2, 3 and 4 - Police force, mostly younger dragons ) Groundlings ( can be of any rank or social status, but is crippled in a way to make them largely useless except as such positions as library keeper ) ( Subject to story-teller approval ) Wanderers (ranks 1-5 who have not be given a "Duty" yet ) and yes Rouges ( This you must remember is not a great thing to be since you are thusly hunted by your own. dur Magic This is one of the "restraing factors" in the game. Anyone can learn to use magic, as magic is inherent in the REALMS ( all but one, but that's a Cyber-punk realm that is basically off-limits as any mystic beings tend to die there :P ). Magic is limited to your Species-type. If you use magic with out a focus or a tool of some sort ( ie a channeling agent other then yourself ) you do serious and un-fixable damage to your biology. Magic twists the genetic structure. Those born to fire, say, can use fire to their hearts content. If they use water magics they physically start to change.., and they find it harder to use fire magic. If they use air magic again they start to physically change, thier fire magic starts to have un predictable results ( goes 'Wild' ). If you use a combination that is not in your species, then you will do some serious damage to yourself, and render your self un-breedable. The body just can't handle the changes. Think of it like this..., the magic is like radiation. A body is genetically altered to withstand the use of a certain type, but once you cross over into another type the body starts to twist.., radiation poisioning. :P Bad mojo-beads. bad bad thing. Other Character Creation: You start with a younger dragon. Ages can range between a few thousand years to close to triple digits in thousands of years. Average age range: 1-50 ( Hatchling ) 51-150 (Fledgling) 151-350 ( Young ) 351-500 ( Youth ) 501-1000 ( Wildling *teen* ) 1001- 2050 ( Adult ) 2051- 4000 ( Elder ) Greater then that are considered Grand Elders. Earth based dragons grow more slowly, and age more slowly, so a 300 year old earth dragon is still at a younger age ( mentally, physically, and power wise ) then a water dragon of the same physical age. Air Dragons have an average rate of growth. Water dragons have occasional growth 'spurts' ( no pun intended Fire dragons have shorter lives in comparision then most of the other Clans, though far longer lives then all the other People of the Realms. The oldest known Fire-based dragon lived to be 85,357, and that's venerable by their standards. ( He was also toothless and couldn't fly anymore, but by living that long no one seemed to take notice amoung the fire-clans ). Magic Powers: To keep it simple, as a starting character you get one special 'magic' power. These are elemental powers remember, and are open to interpretation. The more twisted and convulated you try to make apower work, naturally the harder it will be to cast the 'spell' or make something happen. Ex: Starting a fire with fire power - really simple Tossing a firball at an oppenent - wee bit more difficult Trying to create water by super heating the air to mae it rain - uh like near impossible ( you'd maim everyone else you are trying to give a drink to) Clans of fire can manipulate Fire as their element: Wyvern breed- Can combine air with fire, but otherwise cannot control air. Classic breed- Are the most powerful of the Fire Clans. Wingless breed- Can use the Earth Elements with fire magics, but otherwise cannot control earth magics. Clans of earth can manipulate Earth as their element: Wyvern breed- Can combine air with earth, but otherwise cannot control air. Classic breed- Can combine fire with earth, but cannot control fire. ( They have different casting and spell techniques then the fire clan that can use earth ). Wingless breed- Are the most powerful of the Earth Clans. Clans of air can manipulate Air as their element: Wyvern breed- Are the most powerful of the Air Clans. Classic breed- Can combine fire with air, but cannot control fire. ( They have different casting and spell techniques then the fire clan that can use air). Wingless breed- Can combine water with air, but cannot control water. Clans of water can manipulate Water as their element: Wyvern breed- Can combine air with water, but cannot control air. ( They have different casting and spell techniques then the air clan that can use water). Classic breed- Can combine fire with water, but cannot control fire. ( They are the only clan which can do this, and often do not interact much with either the fire clan or their own elemental siblings. Storm-dragons they are often refferred as). Wingless breed- Are the most Powerful of Water Clans. Errata: Story Links - Scholar's Teachings Dragon-Wolf's Tale of Creation Original "Empire RPG" Information website Any questions? Re: World Bible - REALMS -
Mind if I ask what the Clans are? I'm thinking of making a Fire dragon, but I'm not sure where to place him and such. Is there anything specific you'd like to see included into the char sheets, other than appearance and bio and such? Are there any specific traits for the different varieties of dragons?

Re: World Bible - REALMS - Still couldn't find the names of the clans though I do rememebr that the wingless breed of Water were called "Deeps" Clan, and the wyvern called "Circled Seas". "Dragonwolves" in this theme are Spirit Clans, and for this rp will not be added for a bit yet. For the Spirit Clans, they are divided between not body shape but how empherical they are. Dragonwolves, in order to be made flesh, had to interbreed with three different clans, fire for the heart, earth for the form, and air for the mind. Once they had their forms solidiifed, they seperated from the other clans in order to "Specialize" their forms, and thus became something "other then " the other dragons. The Emphericals are basically ghostly dragons who have no true physical form, they are energy, pure and simple. They can enter the mind of someone they wish to speak with, to find a form that is pleasing or frightening depending on what a situation warrants. They then "take form" by pulling their body energies tighly together. Even so, they are still fairly "see thorugh", so often are considered ghosts or "Ancestors". Guardian Kin are those who have a parital form they can take on. They "Shift" from one state ( energy) to a more solid state ( physical). Often called "Fae dragons" or "Changling dragons", they can take one almost any shape at will. But often have one preferred form. These three ( except the dragonwolves ) have the ability to use any of the magics in any way that they wish. The Dragonwolves, by creating a solid form of themselves have limited themselves as well, and can only use fire-earth-air magics. They are highly susceptiable to water magics, and so when they do show up in teh Realms, they try to make as good relations with the Water Clans as possible. *winks* This is why for now, the Spirit clans ( extinct clans ) are rare and off limits. You may see them pop up every now and again as a plot point, and those GM's who wish to use them, keep me informed about thier progress. Re: World Bible - REALMS - So, how would one play a younger dragon, if that's what they start out with? Do the dragons leave their young to themselves, or do parents stay close to their offspring? I'd like to make a young fire wyvvern (fledgling, I think was the age-group) but I don't know where to set him... or if he's old enough to play on the boards. Would he need a guardian? If he does, should I make an NPC? Should I ditch that all together and make him wildling age? (seeing as how that's a little more independant to me) Also, how does ageing work... if I'd like to advance my character over time noticeably, would I have to ask, or just change stats? And... last thing. If I make a fire dragon, he would be set in a firey-style world, I assume. Do you already have a list of worlds, or should I just make my own up? Thank you! |

Re: World Bible - REALMS - ^.^ Very good questions! *hugs* That's actually of great help. Younger dragons are basically left on their own for the most part, and until they reach an age level (maturity level) to recieve responsiblity from the Council they more or less do what they will as long as its within the Laws of teh Realms. ( Like no eating of People (ie those claimed by the Dragon Clans as people)). They have to respect those who "own" territory, but can move and go where they will. As for where one would live, some clans share terriroty of a Realm, others own an entire realm of their own, still others lay claim to a small plot of land in other Realms. If you want you can have the Character come from the Desert Realm of the Elemental System ( Realm ) Where all three of the Fire Clans lay claim to territory. Or you may make something up if you wish. The more people play with this wolrd the more solid I can make it. I'll post something shortly.
