Some Christians, not too informed about either Islam or Christianity, often contrast Jesus and Muhammad by saying that Jesus was a man of love and peace while Muhammad was a man of war. Yet the bible contains many instances where Jesus instructed his disciples to arm themselves (Mark 14:47 and Luke 22:35-3 . Also, Jesus reportedly said that he did not come with peace but with sword (Matt 10:34-39 = Luke 12:51-53, 14:26-27). He also turned the tables of traders in the Jerusalem temple (Mark 11:15-19 = Matt 21:12-17 = Luke 19:45-48 = John 2:13-22), which was obviously a clear act of physical force. Do you feel that if Jesus had lived longer that his history would have paralleled that of Muhammad's? Do you think that Jesus would have fought his battles to oppose repression as well?
