cracked open like a lobster
I've been down here in NOVA. My dad, Nelson, went in for a valve-replacement surgery yesterday. The replaced a leaky valve with a pig valve. The whole process took about 4 hours. By about 6:30 last night he was awake and breathing on his own. Visiting him last night was a great reassurance seeing him awake, breathing on his own and talking... with lucidity!

I'm off to see him his AM. He is out of the Intensive Care Unit and is now in a private room at INOVA (Fairfax hospital)

Technology is pretty f-n awesome.

Your good thoughts are appreciated!

Hokey smokes, Mr. Peabody!

Best wishes, Sean. Fairfax is an excellent cardiac hospital. My father-in-law has regular surgeries there to replace the battery in his defibulator (which, despite the similar names, is nothing like a debigulator.)

Thanks guys...

I'm about to go back and see him. This morning he looked better than last night.

Hopefully they will have removed the tubes from his chest.

His surgeon paid a visit and said that he will in a best case be home sometime on Sunday.

Fairfax is an amazing cardiac center. Great staff, attentive and professional. He is in the best care so I hope soon he'll be home and on the mend.

Three months of recovery. Lots of boredom and crossbow weilding spiders I'm sure.

I'll be back in the area next weekend as well.

Let's get together at the brogue or something.

Glad things went well, but how does he feel now that he's no longer kosher? :smokin

Technology really is amazing.

My Dad just got home today. I am really relieved.

Anyhow, Anna and I are going back down to Reston this weekend. Anyone fancy meeting up at the Brogue or some other place this Sat night?

Dude, I want to meet up witchall at the Brogue, but I have made plans, and I am not sure James would manage too well in a smokey bar. His mother has pounded into him that smoking around him will kill him, so every time I smoke I hear what she says.

How long are you in town Sean? Maybe we all could meet up for a quick game or something on Sunday...
