Maxie: *counts the alleys* Three, four five. . *they hear a snore*. . Six. Here we are.

(The alley is pitch black, but Maxie enters it as though it's broad daylight.)

Maxie:*whispers* Keri? Kerimon? *louder* David? You in here?

(maxie gropes around in the dark until she finds her way into her box. She gropes around a little more, and a light comes on. The alley is flooded with dim light, and David can see that it's a small, broken lamp, plugged into an outdoor elaectrical outlet.)

Maxie: There. So. . . This is my humble residence.

Kermon: *squints, and rolls over* Hey. . . . cut it out, I'm trying to sleep here. . .

(She pushes Iromon over and gets into the box. . . . still wide awake, however, so she leaves Iromon to snore, and climbs up and over to the same rooftop where it all started. She sits on the ledge, looking up at the stars and thinking of David.)
