Re: where am I?
She ponder what Charcoal has to say, and nods to him.

"Yes indeed, that is the logic to the problem..., yet I have yet to find a way out. Most of the world walking I have done was by means.., ways not quite under my own control. But the power sources had to be considerable for the effort to be made in the first place to set up the system that I am used to using."

She chuckles to herself and dips her head in appolgy.

"I tend to get a bit carried away but such puzzles, I do appolgize if my words may confuse. I tend to get a bit over-zealous at times."

The winds shifts again as the day and their conversation goes on, and she picks up a different scent. This world being such a strange place, her defenses go up almost instantly. Her ears perk in the general direction of where the scent blows in from, and her eyes track in that direction while she yet carries on the conversation.

She doesn't quite see anything from the vanatge of sitting on her rump in the grass. But she knows something else is out there. She picks up a blade of grass and begins braiding the supple length almost as if out of habit.

" I do hope we can find our ways home, and by the Blessings, I do hope we find it soon. There are things here that even for something my full size, are best not to deal with in face to face combat."

Re: where am I?
*The apparent inability of both creatures to understand her makes Furora slightly depressed, but decides to keep trying. She catches a glimpse of something...someONE rather creeping about behind the group and releases a high pitched yip, beating her waxy wings in doing so. Her eyes flicker over the other animals, and she makes continual references with her eyes over to the place where she saw the stranger last. Unable to think of any other ways to alert Darken and Charcoal as to what is happening, Furora growls and sets back on her haunches.*

"Great...only I can understand myself."

*With an irritated flicking of her ears, she sulks.*

wolf
Amaroq freezes at the yip and crouches down lower to the ground, to make himself smaller. He whined quietly as he shifted into a Wolf. He sat on his haunches and watched the group of creatures, noting their attention on him.

Re: wolf
She swings her head full around and jumps up, uttering her own growl. Furora's body language is clear enough, and the morphic dragoness goes on the defense.

"Stand and face us, or else!" She snaps out in a gutteral growling accent.

Wings half furled, ears full forward, eyes narrowed she sees a strange sight. A wolf that does not quite smell of wolf.

Re: wolf
The minotaur's blade is out again at Furora's warning yip, his attention turning from Drakenhart's reply to where the winged canine pointed in the tall grass. Of course, Drakenhart is doing her own version of the same -- so perhaps between the three of them they'll present an impressive enough sight to convince whatever-it-is to think twice.

All he's seen, though, is a flash of white down among the grass, which doesn't exactly fit into his usual category of things-which-need-to-be-fended-off. Is it -- he squints in the dim light -- some other sort of canine?

If he weren't quite sure of his own bloodlines, he'd begin to wonder if there weren't some Anu heritage somewhere in his family, and if this world didn't call exclusively to canine-crosses. A wry smile creeps into his dour expression, despite the situation.

*Furora's eyes swing back to Charcoal's blade. My what a pretty thing that is. How smooth and shiny and delightfully pointed...she catches herself moving towards it but stops, for fear of seeing it in action upon herself. She turns back to the place where she had last seen the stranger and floofs up her wings, waiting.*

eep!
Amaroq is startled when they all turn to face him and make noise. He jumps up, seeing one of the creatures *a minotaur?* pull out something. Thinking its a gun he says," Don't shoot! I don't know where I am!"
With his tail between his legs and his ears against his head, which is also lowered,he takes nervous steps forward, pausing every few steps to show passiveness and submissiveness.

Re: eep!
She raises her head up further to get a better look at the approaching beastie, unsure of its scent. She leans down on all fours and shifts again to a more canine form. Her wings fold up along the side of her now wolf-like spine and nearly dissappear into the fur.

She lowers her head an approaches the new-beast. Growling in the language of canines, she issues another warning.

"Who are you. Do you mean us harm? We WILL fight if you hurt us."

eep!
Amaroq couldn't look any more pitiful and helpless than he did right now. He was scared out of his wits, he didn't know where he was, he didn't know who or what these creatures were....and they were going to KILL him! he was almost in a state of shock, but barely.
"N-n-n-n-no harm!"
Amaroq cant possibly shrink any further.
"I'm...a-a-a kid! I-i-i w-went through a portal and-and I DON'T KNOW WHERE I AM!"
He changes back to his human form and shivers there in fear, eyes wide as saucers.

Re: eep!
Charcoal is surprised, yes -- but hadn't he just finished telling 'Hart that he had been in a number of odd places, and there seen odd things? Among them were were-folk, although admittedly the weres he met were not wolves, but bears. He had been surprised by them ... but they had been surprised by him, as well.

So, he is momentarily startled when the white wolfish-shape in the grass writhes and changes into the huddled shape of a very frightened human boy, but he resheathes the spatha and steps closer toward him and 'Hart crouched before him. He shows the boy his hands: open, weaponless -- and furred all over, coincidentally -- and speaks again in that deep voice.

"Easy, lad. You surprised us. You shall come to no harm from us, unless you show intent, first."

Drakenhart sniffs at him, hackles lowering in response. She tastes the air around him, and then licks his shoulder to get a better sense of who he is in truth.

She stands down, and looks to Furora. The hybrid shifter feels a pang, as she realizes that Furora is the only one currently out of the loop in communication. Though it is rough at best, Drakenhart knows she can at least pass her thoughts onto the other two, as this other one also speaks something akin to the gutteral tongue.

whew
Amaroq stops moving completely. Then he breathes deeply and sits back, cross legged. He looks more composed but still quite visibly shaken.
"As I said before...my name is Amaroq. I don't know where I am, I got thrown through this doorway and ended up here."
He looked up at Drakenhart, then over to Charcoal. He recognized what he thought was German of somesort. He gave it a shot and said," Can you understand me?" in German. He looked hopeful.

Re: whew
*Furora listens intently, watching all of these happening unfold. She narrows her eyes at this new creature and speaks low.*

"We are all in a very strange place. None of us know where we are."

*She flicks her ears irritably, for Furora never did hold any patience. She then pivots to Charcoal and Hart giving them each a puzzled look. Knowing that her speech will commune nothing, she attempts body language again to ask them what to do. She ruffles her feathers and stomps her paws into the ground, furrowing her brow into tight folds. Perhaps this would help get her messages across?*

Re: whew
As the boy studies the minotaur, so too does the minotaur study the boy. It's likely that they understand each other about equally well: while the words the minotaur spoke had sounded a lot like German, but it certainly isn't what Amaroq might know as modern High German -- it's what came before it. It's similar enough that one could pick out words and get the general idea of the other's speech, more like hearing an odd dialect than a whole different language.

So, when Amaroq asks if he is understood, the minotaur nods, cautiously...

... and then looks down to Furora, looking impatient with her feathers fluffed and her brows furrowed. He shakes his head at her -- he doesn't know, either.

good
Amaroq is by now, looking much better. At the Minotaur's nod, he gave the slightest of a smile and thought of what he should ask of the creature.
"...Where.....is this place?"
He looks and gestures around him to help emphasize his question and looks back at Charcoal questioningly.

*Furora slinks over to Charcoal's side and sits, leaning back n her hauncher while examining this Amaroq. She raised an eyebrow warily, but through her canid senses can tell that this boy is scared. She looks over the Hart and Charcoal, nodding her head slowly, knowing that to speak would be useless. *

Re: good
Drakenhart settles a bit, but retains her wolfish form. She watches the newbeast carefully not totally sure of this one. The smells she picked up were confusing at best, distracting even. Flicking her ears in irritation she sat on her rump and watched the young one carefully.

When he spoke in a tongue similar to what Charcoal could, she listened carefully. Some of the words were a bit different, others a but slurred, but his shock and consternation was evident.

She looks to Furroa, then flicks her ears in mild irritation while sniffing at the air around the youth.

~Unsure, this one~ she tried to convey with her body language.

Re: good
He resists the urge to hold out his hand to Furora for a sniff, and then a pet -- he isn't sure she would appreciate it, although even with a mane and wings, she looks unmistakably like a larger version of some of the little black-and-tan dogs kept by some inns to hunt their rats.

But then, the boy is asking him a question, and he listens closely to pick up the meaning.

"Where?" he asks in confirmation. "I do not know where, or how."

He looks to 'Hart questioningly -- her behaviour is a little odd, and he wonders if she's picking up on something he ought to know about. And of course, she IS the most knowledgeable one present about world-walking.

But back to the boy. "What's your name?"

name?
Amaroq is glad to get a response, but it was not one he had desired to hear. When Charcoal asked him his name however, he responded," My name is Amaroq. Amaroq Kapugen."
He nods and thinks for a moment, trying to recall his German lessons and asks Charcoal -his- name.
He glances at Furora who was staring at him a moment ago, then to 'Hart, who was currently looking at him.
He appeared to be very uncomfortable, but did quite well to hide it. He was becoming more reasurred since he could communicate with at least one of the strange group. He wished they would stop looking at him so. Was it because of the way he looked? That must be it, because his Wolf form looked similar to one of them, and was the origin of another.(i.e. Wolves were bred to become the domestic dogs we know, just to make it clear.) He could smell all of them together, and all of the scents together was making him a little frightened. Mixed scent either meant another pack of animals or some animals were fighting. But that was just his Wolf instinct. He was....welcomed to this party of mixed scents, he thought. Or at least tried to calm himself with that thought. (whee, tired, so I'm sorry if the post is shabby)

Re: name?
*Furora moves towards this small new stranger. She ruffles her wings and stiffens her gait as she approaches him. Stopping by a short distance...perhaps 2, maybe 3 feet in front of him, she sniffs the air. Flicking her ears from one side to the other she searches for his emotions through scent, finding no hostility nor aggression. Satisfied with these results, she turns and nods to Hart and Charcoal. Furora turns her long, pointed muzzle back to the new one and bows her head.*
