June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Binx felt like a penguin. He tugged at his collar as he stumbled on the red carpet leading into the Great Hall. He was wearing a tux, which was unusual for him. Normally when he dressed up, he just wore a nice collared shirt. But Valentines day was Valentines day, and you just couldn't say no to dressing up in order to impress a bunch of girls. Especially since one of them had sent him an anonymous Valentine... He had kept the valentine locked away in his trunk, after reading it and rereading it a thousand times. Merlin. A girl had a crush on him. Naturally, there were a handful of girls who were crushing on Binx, but he never really noticed them because they never voiced how they felt. But now that one had, Binx was feeling giddy. He was completely caught up in the romantic mood, even though he was a little young to know what romance really was. All he knew, he learned from movies like Titanic and Moulin Rouge.
The valentine had been lyrics to a song, which had been playing through Binx's mind all day. So tonight I'll sit and pick apart your pictures, And overanalyze your words, But the truth is that I've never fallen so hard, It's taking everything in me, Just to forget your sweater so far Binx began to feel the giddiness again as he straightened his white tie as he stood in front of the Great Hall. Someone had fallen for him. Hard. Who was it? Ever since he had gotten the Valentine, he had taken to guessing. Was it an older girl? A younger one? Binx knew plenty of girls from all circles, and one of them had taken to him. His cheeks flushed a little at the thought. A girl liked him.. You've got me down on my knees and I proclaim, All hail the heartbreaker No, she more than liked him to send him lyrics to a song like that. She had to be head over heals for him!
But how would Binx ever figure out who this mystery admirer was? They obviously didn't want to be known... He would have to spend the night trying to find out who she was... Dancing with as many girls from as many circles as possible, just in case. From the song, the girl felt like he hardly noticed her... Which meant that he would have to branch out to girls that he didn't always hang out with.
As he stepped into the Great Hall, Binx glanced around nervously, looking for a girl to start with. Normally, Binx wouldn't have headed off for the ball without Ed by his side. Binx thought of Ed as his best friend now, and they spent as much time as they could together, goofing, playing, and even studying. The Student Center was where Binx found himself spending most of his time, since he and Ed were in different houses. But tonight, Binx needed to focus on girls. Ed would probably arrive later, if he came at all. Binx had tried to encourage him into asking a girl, despite the fact that he knew Ed wouldn't. Personally, Binx felt as though there was room for something between Ed and Kat, but Ed needed to get his rear in gear if he wanted to take advantage of that... Kat.. What if Kat was the girl? He had been nice to her at the Masque.. She had been nice to him back.. Oh Merlin. So many girls so little time.
Binx's bright eyes fell on Maire Nightshade. She was someone he considered a bit of a friend, but they didn't talk much. Didn't talk much? A red flag went up in Binx's mind. If they didn't talk much, that meant she felt ignored, which meant she felt like he didn't pay attention to her, which meant that he was breaking her heart, which meant that he was a heart breaker. Bingo. His first dance partner of the night. He zoomed over to where she was standing with two other girls. One of them was Breena, a first year, and the other was Puck. Binx knew Puck fairly well, and he had contemplated the idea of her being his admirer for a split second before he mentally kicked himself. Right. Puck. Binx watched Maire, with a bit of anticipation in his eyes. "Hey," He greeted, "You look great," He added, looking her up and down for a moment. Had he ever seen her in a dress before? He couldn't remember. Either way, she looked quite beautiful... Red, he decided, suited her. "You three girls come without dates then?" That was stupid. Binx felt like punching himself the moment the words escaped his mouth. Girls hated knowing that they came alone. On Valentines day, they were always touchy because there was an emphasis on the fact that they didn’t have a sweetheart to spend the day with.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!OCC: Hahaha! Let the Love Potion Mania ensue! Make sure Breena takes the glass in front of her...

~Lance~
Ah, formal gatherings; not necessarily fun, but a fantastic place for gossip of all kinds. It was a gold mine for information. This was Lance Coleman's absolute cup of tea.
Naturally curious, Lance liked to know a lot of things. He found that gathering information wasn't terribly hard, for he himself wasn't very noticeable in the slightest. He would gracefully slink through a large crowd, unnoticed and safely undercover in his own skin. As good as he was at getting through un-seen, this would prove to be very difficult. Normally, he wasn’t really into mischief, just information. In this case, mischief was appointed before information. It was time he loosened up a little.
He glanced around the door to the Great Hall, looking at the scene. Quite a few people had already arrived and were enjoying themselves, a common ball scene.
Only two problems: Lance definitely wasn't dressed for the occasion, not really planning on coming to the ball in the first place. Not only was he wearing normal clothing, but it was messy, normal clothing.
The Slytherin had almost forgotten the couple vials of Love Potion he put under his bed months ago, after the Love Potion spree set up by Ashton and Fefe. Pure genius.
However, point number two: he didn't have a date, another factor now working against him. He would look even stranger. This was not going to plan.
And then, almost as if the Love Gods were on his side, a rather large group of couples sauntered over in a pack, the female half chattering away, obviously engrossed in their discussion. One of the boys in the group glanced over at Lance, and wrinkled his nose slightly, but didn't pay him much heed. Score, Lance mused to himself, stepping in time behind the herd, hands in his pockets. Taking a quick look around, he decided to calmly walk over to the side of the festivities; best not to be noticed right off the bat. Leaning near the food table, Lance peered over the refreshments, and spotted the large artful bowl filled to the brim with sparkling pink punch.
"Perfect," Lance whispered out loud, pulling the small vial of Love Potion out of his pocket. It was a pale pink concoction, and would not be noticed in any such drink.
Pocketing the liquid, Lance sidled across the wall, and over to a group of girls already clustered there. He recognized the infamous Puck, but didn't know the other pair of girls clustered around her.
There, on the table, was a half-full glass of punch, bubbles fizzing gaily. Pretending to look the other way, Lance uncapped the vial, and tipped a healthy dose of potion into the drink, sweeping it back into his pocket before you could say "Quidditch."
He had no idea whose glass that happened to be, but obviously, he would find out. "Evening ladies," he said to the girls as politely as he could. As he waited for a reply, his gray eyes slowly scanned the Great Hall. Nice decorations, good food, and that singing hottie. All in all, not a bad Ball from the look of it. Tough cookies that he couldn’t get a date.
~Maire~
This was fine; talking with Puck and Breena sounded like a good idea to Maire. She wasn't going to let herself feel badly. She could have gotten herself a date, if she really wanted to...maybe...
No, you could have. You just didn't try very hard. Maybe somebody will come along, she mused to herself, looking at all of the other couples. They were having such a nice time, so it seemed. Valentine's Day was normally a good day for Maire, a day riddled with chocolates and flowers. She had had boyfriends, just not any current ones, and those were the best kinds.
Maire was about to turn to say something to Puck, when she cast a glance over at Lance Coleman, a Slytherin boy of her year. She had never really talked to him- all she knew was that he was amazing with Potions and Herbology. Come to think of it, he was one of the more civil Slytherins, talking to most with a stiff politeness. However, she couldn't help finding it odd that he was standing next to a group of girls, dateless, ("But so are you!" Maire's mind-voice taunted.) and wearing a fairly grubby sweater.
She couldn't exactly say anything to him without coming off as rude, so Maire just returned to glancing around the Great Hall, on her quest for Binx.
Maire had debated on sending him a Valentine via owl-post, but had decided against it. Binx didn't know her very well, that was for sure, and she didn't want to scare him before they even talked. Maire's strong personality could be a bit scary at times, not really suited towards quite a few people in Hufflepuff house...
Her mind started to drift away, when it was abruptly reined back in. There he was.
He was standing across the Great Hall by the entrance, looking a little dazed. But he was looking at her. No! Not at her, never at her. Maire nervously shifted to her other foot, trying to not...look...right...at...him. That would be blatantly obvious. Before she knew it, Binx was at the small throng of Gryffindor girls, (with the single Slytherin hanging out by himself.)
"Hey. You look great," Binx greeted them, eyes bright. Maire wasn't sure whom he was talking to; but it didn't matter. He was talking in her general direction. However stupid that might of sounded, it didn't matter at the moment. Maire had a serious crush. It was almost pitiful.
"Thanks, you too," Maire said, more like to her feet than anybody. She glanced at Binx's face, and noticed he was looking her up and down. Maire blushed a little, but tried to remain calm and not do something completely idiotic. "You three girls come without dates then?" the Hufflepuff asked. Now, he was directing the conversation to the group. The pressure was off...for now.
"Yes. I didn't really try this time around to scout for boys," Maire said chuckling, trying to keep her nerves reeled in. That sounded stupid, she scolded herself, flushing yet again. At this rate, Maire's face was going to turn into a tomato. She paused, waiting for somebody, anybody to reply to the boy, chewing her bottom lip unconsciously. Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"So it's not too girly?" Alex asked in a slightly joking manner. "I probably never would have bought something like this myself. My mum sent it to me."
Jereff laughed lightly. "Girly? Are you kidding me? Maybe it it were foofy with lots and lots of layers it would be... And perhaps maybe if it weren't such a serious shade of red. But no it doesn't look girly at all." It looks absolutely ravishing... "But I'm not surprised that you wouldn't normally buy something like this. You can certainly pull it off though." He grinned for a moment, "Honestly you look like you belong in fancy clothing like this. I feel like a complete stiff." He, unlike Alex, didn't have a mother trying to program his brain into being what she thought he should be. He never really dressed up much before he began attending fancy Hogwarts balls, so he had no idea how to carry himself. It didn't help that he had absolutely no idea as to whether or not he looked good, aside from what he thought of himself. Jereff had always been confident, and he never really had a reason to doubt his appearances, but where girls were involved, things got fuzzy. Jereff had no idea what was appealing to a girl. Especially when they always had different opinions. Some liked messy, some liked clean, some liked rugged. How was Jereff supposed to keep up?
"Dance, I suppose," Jereff could only smile back at Alex as she continued, "Once I..." Jereff's eyes followed Alex as she walked over to the refreshment table, kicking off her heels and hiding them under the table. He arched an eyebrow in slight amusement. What was the point in getting heels if you were just going to kick them off to dance anyway? Girls. He could never understand them. He supposed that that's why he liked them. They were a mystery. He supposed that heels made things look more dressed up, but if they were so horrendously uncomfortable, why not settle for something else? "I never would have survived dancing in those," Jereff smiled in response. "So...shall we?" "Yeah," Jereff took Alex's hand again, leading her to the dance floor when he suddenly remembered that he could barely dance. Bollocks.
Luckily, there was an increasingly slow and sappy song beginning to play. Jereff felt oddly comfortable with the fact that he would be dancing, close slow and intimate, with Alex. When had things changed? Back in December, he supposed. He drew her out to the dance floor before stopping in the center. He pulled her close, which he was also comfortable with... Merlin, when had he passed that blustering flustering stage? He put his arms around her waist, feeling more at ease doing that than putting one hand on her waist and holding her hand with the other.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"Happy V-Day," Puck returned with Breena's greeting. Though it seemed a bit forced. Maybe she was one of those love cynics that hated Valentines Day. "And no, I'm afraid I'm dateless this year... Or every year I guess," Puck said, laughing slightly. Breena gave her a shrug in response. There was nothing wrong with being dateless. She, personally, would much rather be out on the floor dancing with some handsome beau, but apparently the male department in the younger years was severely lacking for some unfortunate reason. But then again it would probably be more rewarding to come to a Ball dateless, and then meet someone there. A mystery person who asked you to dance, and then showed you the moves on the dance floor. Then at the end of the night, he would kiss you goodbye and promise to see you again soon. Man, what a fairy tale.
"How about you? Waiting for a date, or too determined to be a wicked flirt?"
"Well," Breena replied with a heavy sigh, "The only person worth dating really is here with one of my friends, so it kind of ruins all of that," she explained with a laugh. Yes, Melana had been lucky enough to nab Link nice and early. Not that Breena really liked Link, but he was there and he was an option.
"Nice punch by the way." Breena felt herself explode with pride. Puck had just complimented Breena's punch when she had hit a girl three years older than her! From what Breena had heard, Puck was the kind of girl to get into lots of little tiffs when she was younger. She had probably thrown a fair few punches herself at multiple deserving victims. And for her to compliment Breena? Oh it made the whole situation bitter sweet. Before Breena could reply, however, people were coming over to the lonely twosome rather quickly. First it was Maire, a fourth year girl, who shot them a smile before joining them on the wall.
"You guys look great!" She exclaimed. Breena grinned in response. She did look good, didn't she? She had an extreme fondness for her dress, and had a feeling she would be wearing it around her dormitory when no one else was there.
"Thanks! You too!" Breena said, glancing at Maire's dress, slightly jealous that she couldn't pull something like it off. She had to constantly remind herself that she was only twelve years old, and hardly anyone had a perfect hourglass figure by then, but it didn't make her feel all that much better. Come to think of it, nearly everyone in the Great Hall looked particularly dazzling that night. Way to steal Breena's thunder, no matter how small it was to start with.
"Evening ladies," A fourth year boy said in a polite manner, joining the group. Breena quirked a brow, unsure of who he was, but soon they were joined yet again by Binx. Merlin, the fourth years were starting to run this joint! She should probably escape while she had a chance! Or try to get a dance with one of them... Binx took up discussion with Maire, so Breena settled upon sipping away at her punch. Ignoring the fact that it had changed a hue, she took a deep sip of it before setting it back down, swallowing the bubbling concoction.
It took a moment to take effect, but once it did, Breena's eyes slid over to the anonymous boy that joined their group. Merlin, look at him! He was so attractive, so suave, such a gentleman! He may not have known Breena, but he had made it all the way across the room to say something to her! Okay, maybe it was to chat with his fellow fourth years. But no. Breena would not settle with that. It was all about HER. Looking up at the boy, she figured an introduction was in order.
"Oh," she started with an airy sort of laugh as stars danced around her eyes. "I'm Breena by the way. And...you are?" She asked, wanting desperately to jump up and wrap her arms around his neck. OH he was handsome...
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Did Maire seem a bit flustered? Binx watched the Gryffindor girl carefully, smoothing his hair absentmindedly. She did seem to be a little cheerful that he had popped over. And hadn't her eyes been on him as he walked over? Maybe he was just imagining things... But no that was ridiculous, he would just have to wait for their conversation to become a little bit more involved before he jumped to conclusions about the Valentine. Besides. Maire was the first girl of the night. He still had more girls to dance with and inquire after. But still, if Maire had been the one to send him the valentine.. Well, Binx didn't think he'd mind at all of it had been her. In fact, he was beginning to feel rather pleased with himself and the situation as the seconds ticked by. Maire. What did he know about her? She was a Gryffindor girl who had an older brother who was a Prefect. Other than that, all he really knew was that she was friends with Puck, but being in the house of lion mean that she was probably brave and bold. But if that were so, then why was she talking to her feet?
"Thanks, you too," Binx's ears turned a little pink when he saw Maire's faint blush. "You all look great too," Binx began, addressing Puck and Breena, "Quite pretty actually." Binx didn't want to commit a major social blunder by ignoring everyone except for Maire, especially where dresses and hair were concerned. From what he knew, girls found things like that very important, though Binx had always felt that if a girl couldn't look pretty without make up and fancy clothes and hair then she wasn't that pretty at all. Binx fiddled with his white tie a little as he looked at his own shoes, waiting for some sort of reply. Puck seemed to be growing agitated by his presence. Or rather, agitated by the fact that he had questioned her datelessness. She merely sent him a look that said 'obviously' before glancing over to the suspicious looking Lance. Binx was a little surprised to see Lance standing among them, but he didn't greet the other boy. He supposed that if Lance wanted to stay out of his hair, then he would return the favor. Besides. He was about to ask Maire to dance anyway.
"Yes. I didn't really try this time around to scout for boys,"
Binx laughed lightly, "Scout for boys? Got your eye on anyone?" He asked, turning to stand next to her and survey the room from her angle. "Not very much to pick from is there? I'm sorry that we're such a shabby lot." There always seemed to be a shortage of young males at Hogwarts, which was quite puzzling. Maybe there was a statistical reason. Were wizards less common than witches? Was it harder for magical blood to transfer into the males than it was for the females? Binx would have to ask Ed about that. Edward was a smart fellow, so he seemed like the type to know the answer to something like that. Binx watched Maire out of the corner of his eye briefly before he began to notice that Breena had become rather... Fluttery. He quirked an eyebrow at her as she addressed Lance, but decided that if he wanted to ask Maire to dance, now would be his opportunity. They could talk as they danced, and they would be in a situation where they wouldn't have distracting first years, or fifth years, sending them curious looks.
"Hey," Binx began, turning to face Maire, "If you don't have your eye on anyone yet, would you like to dance with me?" The band had just struck a slow chord, and the music changed completely. It was romantic and slow, which suited Binx just fine for some reason. He was feeling a little jumpy, now that he had asked Maire to dance. Skittish. Like a cat that was surrounded by mice. He smiled at her, a tinge of pink stretching across the bridge of his nose. He had asked girls to dance before, sure, but not in a situation like this. Not when he was trying to figure out who his secret admirer was...
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball! "Girly? Are you kidding me? Maybe it it were foofy with lots and lots of layers it would be... And perhaps maybe if it weren't such a serious shade of red. But no it doesn't look girly at all," Jereff replied, soothing Alex's worst fears. "But I'm not surprised that you wouldn't normally buy something like this. You can certainly pull it off though." Alex felt herself swelling inside from the flattery. She could pull off a dress? Well, that was nice to hear. As much as she hated dresses, it was good to know that she could conquer them. "Honestly you look like you belong in fancy clothing like this. I feel like a complete stiff." Alex snorted. Him? A stiff? He looked like a bloody model!
"Give me a break, Jereff. You look like you could be on a poster that those swooning teenage girls would stick up in their dormitories," Alex said with a laugh. She had already said magazine boy. Who said she couldn't take it farther? She would just say with great pride and dignity that she had never stuck up a poster of a male in her dormitory or her bedroom ever in her life. She liked to think she was a lot more level headed and down to earth than that.
Jereff seemed amused by Alex's display of "hiding the evidence" where her heels were concerned, so she figured he wasn't too put off by it. Then again if he had asked her out thinking he was getting himself involved with a girly girl, he was in for a lovely surprise. Alex was anything but. In fact, she would probably challenge him to an arm wrestling match and give him a run for his money!
That thought was pushed out of her mind as Jereff twirled her onto the dance floor, looping his hands around her waist. Smiling, Alex placed her hands gently around his neck, following as he lead her across the dance floor. There was something so soothing and comforting about being out on the dance floor with Jereff, feeling so at home and at ease. Merlin, she really was falling for all the Valentines Day cheese. But somehow, she didn't mind anymore. It was too fun to try and stop or pretend it wasn't really happening. She was almost sad when Veela, the sleazy yet bombshell singer, started to slow down as the end of the song got closer.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!~Lance~
Lance continued to watch Vixen Veelaen after greeting the girls. He was in a bit of a love-lust daze. All of the girls may deny it, but that Vixen had a body to boot- and an amazing singing voice, in his humble opinion. Yes, he could stand to watch Miss Veelaen for much longer, but he had to take charge of the mischief sitting in front of him. At this point, Lance wasn't really part of the conversation; he would rather not leave either. He still had to figure out who the owner of the spiked Love Potion punch was. Better just to stand and be quiet, something the boy was rather good at.
Out of the corner of one gray eye, Lance noticed Marvin Binx saunter over to the group sometime later. He personally didn't have a strong dislike for the Hufflepuff, but frankly Binx looked a little busy with Maire. The pair of them certainly were blushing a ridiculous amount. Bothering them didn't seem to be absoloutly nessicary. Lance may not have been as socially adept as some, but he could notice human emotions.
Wondering when the mystery drinker would appear, Lance started to get a bit bored when he struck gold; the smallest girl of the throng who had previously raised an eyebrow at him had picked up the Love Potion glass, and was now taking a sip. Lance practically had to hold onto the wall behind him to keep him from jumping up and whooping with joy. Hastily stuffing his hands in his pockets, he watched wide-eyed as she gulped the beverage.
Grinning slyly, Lance noticed the potion have some effect; the girl was starting to act a bit strangely. All she had to do was find her mystery man, and Lance would be in business. Perhaps she would pick Binx as her love? That would be comedic to the hilt. Lance started to debate on whether to put a bit of the "love juice" into Puck's glass, but then, a thought struck him rather abruptly. He was also a boy...who was there to say that Breena wasn't going to fall for him? He had to abort- and quickly.
But it was too late.
"Oh...shit..." Lance spoke aloud, trying to keep his voice down, and his body from panicking.
Before Lance could as much as run away, he saw the small Breena Stacey sidle over to him, looking more then bit star struck.
"Oh, I'm Breena by the way. And...you are?"
For once in his life, Lance was at a loss for words. The best he could manage was to shake his head, and look at Puck Goodfellow, eyes and mouth opened in fright. He took a second to pick his words wisely.
"I'm Lance. I was just over here a minute ago." He pointed to the wall. "You gave me a weird look..." he trailed off, growing more desperate before spitting out, "I'm a SLYTHERIN!"
He then continued to take small steps to his left, in his best efforts to hide behind Puck. This was not going according to plan. Stupid, STUPID! he thought. You didn't even think to consider the factor that you are also a boy??? Using Puck as a barrier, the boy peered over her shoulder and down at the little first year.
~Maire~
Hopefully, Maire could mask her emotions before they became blatantly obvious. Usually, Maire always voiced her opinions and feelings; it was a natural impulse for her. This, however was not the time.
Glancing at Binx's eyes, Maire couldn't help noticing that they were a wonderful shade of blue-green, kind of like her brother's. Only better...much better, she decided, grinning despite herself and trying to "mask" her emotions.
Honestly, she didn't know as much about Binx as she thought she should. There was just something about him that captured her interest. Opposites were supposed to attract, right?
Being very un-Maire like, she decided was hard. She didn't say anything after Binx polietly stated, "You all look great too. Quite pretty actually." The girl practically beamed; sure, the conversation wasn't directed just at her, but a compliment was a compliment. Binx naturally knew how to flatter girls. Either that, or he was a very practiced young man.
After the short bit of conversation, Maire noticed his thick brown hair fall in front of his eyes his blue-green gaze darted towards his shoes. Smiling internally, a thought rushed to her brain. Maybe he's nervous around me too? Or maybe it's just the rush of the party, she finished weakly.
Maire missed the rather harsh look Puck shot at the younger boy, but she did notice the after-glance at Lance, who seemed to be holding onto the wall in anticipation.
Binx carried the conversation onward, and before Maire knew it, he was standing NEXT TO HER!!! "Scout for boys? Got your eye on anyone?" Maire chose not to answer, and just shot him a knowing smile. He would find out...eventually. Maybe. If she could gather her nerves.
"Not very much to pick from is there? I'm sorry that we're such a shabby lot." The Gryffindor stepped a little closer to Binx, making sure that he was indeed speaking to her.
"Shabby? Oh, no. I'm just lazy," Maire laughed. "What about you? Too many ladies to pick from?" she teased in return, white grin flashing.
Just then, Lance Coleman moved from his sedentary spot, and darted away from Breena like a frightened rabbit. It was the most comical thing she had ever seen; Lance, a tall slender youth hiding behind Puck from the offender: Breena Stacey? What? Maire's eyes widened. Valentine's Day was strange. Hiding behind Puck? Weak. Maire could find out the scoop from Puck later. "Hey," Binx stated before turning in Maire's direction. She smiled hopefully, before answering, "Yes?" "If you don't have your eye on anyone yet, would you like to dance with me?"
Maire could have died. Just fainted, right there, on the carpeted floor. Her facial expressions were probably showing that right now, but she didn't care. "Of course!" Maire answered happily. "I would love to dance with you!" She grinned when she noticed the little blush across Binx's nose.
She didn't jump forward at the invitation, and instead waited for his reply, completely oblivious to the Love Potion fiasco unfolding behind her.

Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"I figure that some bloke made high heels up as a midieval torture device, but apparently they're stylish so..."
Fyora nodded in agreement, laughing at Ashton's comment. It was so true. Heels, as far as she was concerned, were one of those things that determined social prowess. If you could walk in them, you would look fantastic and have everyone fawning over you all night. If you couldn't, you were relegated to standing by the wall, attempting not to overbalance and make an idiot of yourself. Having said that, she'd already fallen over this evening, and Ashton was still here, still talking to her. She would readily admit that she'd be far happier in jeans and trainers rather than done up to the nines and wearing pieces of pointy leather strapped to her feet, but, she reasoned, she couldn't have been doing too badly.
"So, can I make up for my clumsiness with uh... a dance?"
Fyora swallowed a lot harder than she meant to in surprise, and coughed slightly before regaining her composure, mentally cursing her idiocy once again. Damn it, now Ashton would probably think she was about to throw up on him or something. She wouldn’t have blamed him for backing away slightly in an effort to preserve the state of his clothes, but he stayed put and offered her his hand. Say something then…
"Me? A dance?" she babbled stupidly, looking, she was certain, like some kind of guppy. "Of... of course! I'd love to!" She reached out a hand shyly and grasped Ashton's, trying to keep all thoughts of 'Oh God, I'm going to fall over on the dance floor' out of her mind. They meandered through the couples, Fyora gripping Ashton’s hand slightly harder than she would otherwise have done in order not to overbalance again, and onto the dance floor where Vixen Veelaen was singing a soft slow song in a voice like melted honey. All around them, couples swayed gently to the music, arms wrapped around each other, some gazing into each others' eyes, some resting their heads on each others' shoulders, and others still with lips locked together, oblivious to the world around them.
Fyora's nerves made a rapid reappearance as she realised she had no idea what to do with her hands now that they were on the dancefloor. Should she put her arms around Ashton's neck, or just keep holding onto his hand? What if she made the wrong choice and ended up embarrassing both of them in full view of all the other students? For the goodness-knows-how-many-eth time that evening, she found herself wishing she was still in the dormitory, hiding under her blankets with Bertie curled up on her stomach like a black furry hot water bottle.
Deciding to just keep holding Ashton's hand, she looked up into his eyes waiting for him to make the next move, and instantly regretted her wish to be anywhere but here. Her mind was filled with the kind of thoughts she'd been experiencing while under the effects of the love potion, but this time she was under no influence but her own. This time it was for real, and Fyora knew it.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"Yes, It is most definantly topping my list" He told her, taking her hand in his.
Lynn smiled. Could this night – no, could this month get any better? Lynn felt remarkably lucky, as though she had been bestowed with some sort of magic blessing and nothing could go wrong. The Hogwarts balls tended to have that effect on one; the majesty, the grandeur of the decorations, no matter the theme, could always take her breath away. This time was no different.
It was a revelation to her that she could actually make someone like Sean so happy; she supposed that, had she been like some girls her age – full of hormones, not a thought in her head about anything but makeup and clothes – he might not have taken such an interest in her. But despite her outwards demeanour, Lynn liked to think that she was mature and rather wordly.
"Sure, we can get a drink. Im kind of thirsty myself."
She followed him to the drinks and accepted the drink that he gave her, taking first a gulp, then a more tempered sip. Ah … that hit the spot. Content simply to stand there for the moment, she slipped an arm around his waist and surveyed the room. It was gradually beginning to fill, and others were beginning to dance, now that Sean and Lynn had made their debut. There was Puck, one of her closer friends … though they hadn’t had that much chance to talk lately. She’d have to rectify that.
Arabella was nowhere in sight; Lynn wasn’t even sure if her friend had been planning to come to the ball in the first place. It would’ve been nice to share such a magnificent evening with her beau as well as her best friend, but this was perfect as it was. She continued to scan the room, and her gaze rested on one person.
Connor Nowlin. 6th year pureblood Slytherin, and proud of it, or so it seemed to her. Damn, didn’t he look fine tonight? He couldn’t compare to her Sean, of course, but she could appreciate raw, dark attractiveness still. Especially since her hands had once spent many a time tangled in those gorgeous brown locks.
Yes, Connor was one of Lynn’s more memorable closet encounters. Though they hadn’t been together for that long, those interludes were lengthy and many. Even thinking about those steamy occasions made her flush, and she took another hasty sip of her drink and tore her gaze away. She didn’t need to rehash past experiences, especially the ones that hadn’t ended particularly favourably.
Glancing up at Sean, she tugged gently on his jacket to regain his attention. “Anyone you want to say hello to?” she said, echoing his earlier question nearly word for word.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"Give me a break, Jereff. You look like you could be on a poster that those swooning teenage girls would stick up in their dormitories,"
The Ravenclaw let out a loud laugh of amusement. "A poster? Me? Do girls really stick posters of young men up in their dormitories?" In every movie he had seen involving teenage girls, they had pictures of bare-chested men from magazines taped or pinned to their walls. Girls didn't really do stuff like that, did they? He supposed that it was only natural for girls to want to oggle something that they enjoy, especially because their male counterparts spent so much of their own time doing the same. Jereff couldn't count the times that he, as a Prefect, had had to raid the dormitories of the younger students for 'inappropriate materials'. Even after a raid, more magazines and calendars would pop up the very next evening. It was tiring work, and Jereff had finally given up on it and let the fifth year Prefect handle it. Right.
"What sort of pose would I be in in this poster you say I could be in?" He furrowed his brow and pursed his lips into a mock pout, over exaggerating a model's leer. After a second of holding the expression he laughed, shaking his head. Models and actors were ridiculous. If faces were supposed to stick after holding one expression for too long, then how did the models survive? Jereff decided that muggles must have magic of their own that made their faces meld and stick for as long as they wanted in whatever shape they wanted. I don't think I could live like that. Jereff thought, watched constantly. No privacy... But then what am I doing, training to become a professional dueler? Jereff nearly laughed at himself as he thought. He had, since his early Hogwarts years, wanted to become a professional dueler. Such careers did not usually last long, and more often than not ended in a crippling injury or some mental deficiency, but Jereff didn't mind. He didn't think there could be anything more thrilling than making a living out of dueling. Dueling was what he was good at, and it was what he was passionate about, and there were simply no other jobs that were appealing.
Jereff wasn't the type to make a habit of putting himself down. Mostly, this was because he felt that if you put yourself down, you actually began to look as horrible as you felt. However, he did feel a little odd and out of place being caught in limbo between dressed-up and not dressed-up enough. He was surrounded by tuxes, suits, and of course dress robes. Where did he fit in? He supposed that none of that mattered, if Alex thought he looked fine, and she obviously did. She had already complimented him, saying that he looked like he belonged on a poster hanging in a teenage girl's room.
Dancing with Alex, Jereff could hardly stop to think about his appearance or feeling out of place. He was completely drawn in by the sound of the music and the spirit of valentines day. There was just something terribly entrancing about the 'day of love' that he had never noticed before. Maybe because he was with someone special, who he honestly cared about and who honestly cared about him. They were comfortable with where they were with each other. They weren't rushing, they weren't pressured, and they weren't awkward. Sure, not everything was a bed of roses, but they didn't really have a problem with each other at all. Their problem was with their schedules and their lack of time, which could be freed up. Especially when summer rolled around. Suddenly Jereff felt as though he had a wad of cotton stuffed down his throat. Summer. They would still be together during summer, wouldn't they? Well, unless Jereff did something to botch the whole thing up, they would be...
Jereff rested his head beside Alex's, staring at nothing in particular as he thought about what would happen when school ended. There was no reason for him and Alex to stop dating, unless of course she had a problem with taking things too slow. Jereff had a problem with it too--he had planned to kiss her months ago, but the moment had never been right. He didn't want to spoil everything by having their first kiss as a couple be in a horrible situation. As the song drew to a close, he slowed in time to the music, pulling his head back a little so that he could watch Alex. His eyes lingered upon her for a moment, as the last few notes of the song drifted through the air. His eyes caught hers and he smiled softly, slowing them to a stop. In the moments before the next song began, everything felt as though it had been completely drowned out by silence. Loud, undeniable silence. And yet Jereff could hear everything. The chatter, the laughter, the slurps of someone sipping their drink. He was intensely aware of his surroundings, but everything revolved around him and Alex. This was it. He knew it. This was what he had been waiting for. The perfect way to start out the evening.
The next thing he knew, he had moved one hand to place it under her chin. It settled there for a moment before he guided her forward with hand, bringing her lips to touch his.
Why was it that whenever Sean was with Lynn that everything just seemed so perfect and clear. He was so lucky he had met her. The day in the library, the day skating, the day at the student center and now the dance were all perfect instances of perfect times with Lynn.
It felt so good to have their relationship out in the open. The ball came at the perfect time and was the perfect opportunity for them to publicy be seen for how they truly were with each other
It was nice for Sean to be able to just kick back and relax. He had been stressing because of the NEWTS this year and other issues but now it was just another night for him and Lynn to be together and just let loose.
Lynn wasn't like any of the other girls Sean knew. All the girls that always were trying to get with him were vain enough for the both of them. That just didn't do it for him. He liked girls that were real, that weren't afraid to be themselves. Lynn was like that, and obviously Sean liked it. He also liked how honest she was and how they were able to talk to each other about there feelings.
The drink felt so good to Sean. The room was getting gradually more full and so the room was slowly warming up. The drink felt nice and cool against his throat and instantly cooled him down. Sean stood next to Lynn, a hand casually in one pocket, his drink in the other.
Sean looked down at Lynn as she searched the crowd, seeing who was all there. She looked so beautiful tonight, not that she didn't look beautiful any other night. Lynn took a couple of glances around the room himself, not wanting to be caught by Lynn just staring at her. He noticed that her sister hadn't arrived yet. Yet? What was he thinking, Mack would definantly not show. She was not into the dance scene, unless she was drunk.
As Sean glanced back down at Lynn he noticed her eyes locked on a certain someone but didn't know who. He wondered who she was looking at but didn't allow it to bother him, it wasn't really important.
Seeing Lynn take a sip of her drink Sean took one of his own, looking out across the dance floor. Sean was glad no problems had arose...yet. He may be relaxed but he knew that at some point he might have prefect duties during the dance. He hoped that their were no problems, he would hate to be torn from Lynn.
Feeling a tugging on his jacket Sean looked back to Lynn. She was so beautiful. He was half tempted to just take her by the hand and go somewhere quiet, so that just the two of them could have time to themselves. But there was a dance going on and so he resisted.
“Anyone you want to say hello to?”
Smiling down at Lynn Sean looked out across the sea of people. "I don't think any of my friends are here yet" He told her. He was sure Tammi was here but he just didn't see her. He didn't feel like spending time looking for her so he just shook his head no. "Any one you see yet?" He asked her. He didn't want to make Lynn feel like it had to just be the two of them the whole night.
"Whatever you want tonight is yours" He told her, kissing her forehead gently and lovingly. Lynn deserved whatever she wanted and Sean wasn't going to stand in her way.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn watched his face as he smiled down at her. Her thoughts were starting to be annoyingly repetitive; how many times could she think of how brilliant his smile was, how gentle and yet stirring being this near to him was? Well, no one had access to her thoughts but herself, so she supposed she was safe. As long as she thought of other things once in a while. But, oh, how could she, when this was all so … so … so … miraculous?
"I don't think any of my friends are here yet" He told her.
Lynn nodded. She hadn’t seen many students from his year, yet, or many Hufflepuffs, for that matter. Of course, Sean was a popular guy, so it followed that he would probably have friends in other years and houses … look at the two of them, for Merlin’s sake! Still, he wouldn’t lie to her, so if he didn’t see anybody, he didn’t see anybody.
"Any one you see yet?" He asked her.
“I see a few people I know,” Lynn said, scanning the room once more, and resisting the urge to watch Connor any more than she should. “But no one that I really have a burning desire to say hello to.” Grinning, she gestured to a girl across the room. “It seems like Puck has her hands full, what with people using her as a hiding spot and all, so I probably shouldn’t disturb her.”
"Whatever you want tonight is yours" He told her, kissing her forehead gently and lovingly.
Lynn closed her eyes and concentrated on his gentle touch. If it was just the two of them all night, that was fine with her. It was Valentine’s Day, after all, and just because they’d decided to come to a dance to celebrate with all the other happy couples didn’t mean they had to spend the whole evening that way. She wondered, for a moment, how many would have snuck away to the gardens by the time the night was over; it wasn’t a bad idea, actually. But she had a feeling that Sean would want to stay near in case of any troubles. He was a prefect, after all. But that didn’t mean they had to stay in the same spot all night.
Setting her empty glass on the table, she removed her arm from his waist and held his hand instead. “Come with me,” she said, glancing to make sure that no one was already occupying ‘her spot’. Smiling, she led Sean to an area just outside the main area of the Great Hall, a hidden nook where they could see everybody if they leaned around the corner, but it would be difficult for people to see them. Satisfied, she leaned against the wall and closed her eyes. “It’s a bit more solitary here,” she said softly. “Less stuffy and all that. Makes me feel like we exist in this little bubble, and everything else is going on around us.”
Opening her eyes, she placed his hands on her waist and lifted hers around his neck. Since there was only a scarce height difference between them, they were seeing eye to eye, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Leaning forward slightly, she pressed her lips to his, light as a butterfly, and as quickly as though it had never happened, she pulled away. “This is the perfect night,” she said. “And it’s all because of you. So Happy Valentines, Sean.”
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Sean liked dances as much as the next student. He had been to his fare of ones at his other schools, and they always turned out well. Australia they were always outside on the beach, those were always fun and beautiful. Those dances seemed to get wild and the after parties were just as fun...well to most of the students, Sean didn't like them too much.
In New Zealand the dances were indoors. Sean and his best buddies always had a blast. They were the life of the dance, always running amock and getting into trouble with the professors. Yes, Sean did have somewhat of a wreckless sleep. But he was always able to work the charm and never ended up in too much trouble.
Hogwarts was just so different. Everyone just did what they wanted, there was no organization really. But that was always a good thing and Sean liked it. He felt extremely relaxed at Hogwart's events. This particular event was actually one of the first that Sean actually was with a girl he wanted to be, and that it was actually his girlfriend. That rarely happened at his other schools.
“I see a few people I know,” Sean nodded, preparing himself to go and visit for the first time with Lynn's friends, utnil she said, “But no one that I really have a burning desire to say hello to.” Sean nodded again in understanding.
“It seems like Puck has her hands full, what with people using her as a hiding spot and all, so I probably shouldn’t disturb her.”
Sean looked in the direction where Puck was. "Ah, I see. Well we wouldn't want that would we?" He replied, half joking, half serious. He flashed her a charming smile as he turned his focus back to Lynn.
This was one of the best Valentines he had ever had. Valentines was a day for showing your love to that significant other. Sometimes teenagers forgot the real meaning of the day. They found it to be a day of gift giving, and outdoing each other.
To some it wasn't even that, it was all about the physical aspect of the relationship. So many times Sean had friends ask him for advice on the perfect gift, the gift that would make them get "lucky" Sean just shook his head and rolled eyes. There was more it than that he would tell them but help them none the less.
“Come with me,”
Sean gave Lynn a curious look as she took his hand and started to lead him away from the drink table. He placed his drink on the table, following suit with Lynn. He wondered where they were headed. The way she looked around at the other students made Sean wonder. It looked as though she didn't want to be seen, didn't want to be followed.
It appeared that Lynn was leading Sean away from the main crowd. He looked back at the growing crowd and then turned back to look where he was going. Lynn stopped at an area that seemed a little out of the way from the hustle and the bustle of Great Hall. It was private compared to all the other spots. Sean couldn't complain.
“It’s a bit more solitary here,” she said softly. “Less stuffy and all that. Makes me feel like we exist in this little bubble, and everything else is going on around us.”
Sean watched as Lynn closed her eyes, she seemed more relaxed. "Hmm" Was the soft reply from Sean as he leaned up against the wall with her, one leg was bent up and his foot rested on the wall as well.
Before Sean knew it his hands were on Lynn's waist and her arms were wrapped around him. She leaned slightly up and gave him a quick and sweet kiss. A kiss that short would normally upset a guy but for Sean it was the world. What Lynn said meant alot to him as well and brightened his evening even more.
“This is the perfect night,” she said. “And it’s all because of you. So Happy Valentines, Sean.”
Looking tenderly and lovingly at Lynn he brushed a piece of her hair out of her face, placing it behind her ear. He shook his head slightly, it was barely even noticable. "Ah, no, Love," He started. "This night is perfect because of you. You are what makes this day what it is all about." He told her this in a serious, quiet, yet compassionate voice. He gave her a sweet kiss, much like hers but a little longer. As he pulled away he whispered into her ear, "Happy Valentines to you too, Lynn"

Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
“Wow, that was quite the comeback, ickle Plumey,” he joked, smiling playfully at his date. “Shall we?” he asked, taking her by the arm and motioning inside of the Great Hall.
Was Ickle Plumey going to stick with Melana as a nickname just for the evening, the week, her entire Hogwarts life?! She couldn't be too sure, but crinkled her nose at the thought. Just wait until I'm a professional quidditch player, she played over and over in her head. They would perhaps still call her Ickle Plumey later on, but they would say it as they bowed before her in reverence as she brandished the Quidditch World Cup!
...fantasies were always nice.
Melana scanned the hall for Breena first thing as she entered at Link's arm. She was quite possibly the only first year with a date, or she was at least one of very few. She hoped her friend was holding up. Melana knew that Breena put a high priority in her social life, and having a date was something her friend had wished for strongly. She also knew that her friend didn't really like Link all that much, so in the end the pairing up was a lot better. Melana actually really enjoyed the boy's company, and appreciated his quidditch talents even more. She couldn't possibly see herself with a bookworm. Athletes were what everything was about!
"You look really nice, Link." It was true, he looked really sharp. Melana honestly expected a sloppy, immature date, but was happily surprised. She was also happy she didn't let her mom send her anything more fancy for the occasion. A simple soft pink knee-length dress was enough. At her age, anything more would just look strange.
"Want to go see what's going on over there?"
Some students were gathered around a punch bowl, Breena included. Above everything else, she wanted to say hello to her friend and possibly toast with her. Melana strongly believed that the only reason Link had asked her to be his date was because she was on the quidditch team. Other than that, Breena would've had the same chances.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"A poster? Me? Do girls really stick posters of young men up in their dormitories?" Jereff asked, letting out a laugh of amusement. Alex laughed as well, shaking her head. Of course they hung up posters of males in their dormitories. They were obsessive, hormone infested teenage girls. And most of them were so annoying that they couldn't get a boyfriend anyways, so they had to get their "eye candy" somewhere. Well, that was their explanation for the whole thing. Alex might have gotten a few words mixed up here and there seeing as she had been zoning out the entire time they tried to plea their case. Her ruling was that they were all critically insane and needed to be placed in straight jackets and padded rooms. Unfortunately she wasn't powerful enough to sentence them to that. It was a shame. It probably would have helped out the entire student body.
"What sort of pose would I be in in this poster you say I could be in?" Jereff questioned, shooting Alex a rather endearing model pout, making her laugh yet again.
"Something modest, but not prude. Something that says, I know you want me, but I also know I'm too much of a gentleman for the likes of you," Alex explained with a laugh, in a slightly teasing manner. She could never see Jereff actually posing for a picture like that. He was indeed far too modest. The idea of girls oogling his picture day in and day out probably would have scared the down to earth, gentleman. Yes, that perfectly described Jereff.
Now on the dance floor, Alex allowed Jereff to steer her around, finding that she as well was getting lost and caught up in the romance of Valentines Day. It was so typical that Alex would have fought it...if she cared. But she didn't. Why wasn't she allowed to enjoy a dance with someone she was positively crazy about? Just because she was a love cynic, she didn't need to condemn herself to hating all those that possessed a y chromosome for the rest of her life! What a lonely life she would lead. Not that she needed a male in her life to make her feel complete. No. She was completely independent, and nothing or no one would change that. Ever.
But Alex wasn't thinking about that at the moment. Instead, she was getting carried off in the moment, and was almost regretful as the last tones of the song slowed to a stop. Even if it was an overly romanticized song, it didn't matter. It was something she'd shared with Jereff. Now he was slowing them to a stop, looking Alex in the eyes with a smile. Alex smiled in response, but suddenly a thought hit her. It was the perfect moment for him to kiss her...and by gum it looked as if he were considering it, the way he was looking in her eyes! Her heart began to thud in her chest, but she found all she could do was smile. He then placed his hand underneath her chin, and slowly leaned in, and kissed Alex.
Suddenly her stomach erupted with butterflies. It was so gentle, so soft, so perfect! It had been well worth the wait! Imagine if she had kissed him before and made it so this moment would have been impossible, or just a repeated act that didn't hold as much significance anymore. She felt as if she were going to explode from glee, but slowly ended the kiss, pulling back just a little bit. "I think I might just be crazy for you, Jereff Stranger," she said with a laugh, barely being able to comprehend how the words had escaped her lips. Telling someone something like that was putting yourself in an extremely vulnerable position. But she didn't care. She trusted Jereff. She knew she wasn't just another notch on his bedpost. In fact, he probably wasn't tallying anything where girls were concerned. He was far too nice for that. But there it was, out in the open. She cared about Jereff. A lot. More than a lot. She was, indeed, crazy for him.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
As they looked into each other's eyes, Lynn knew that, no matter what, she was lucky to have loved and be loved by someone such as Sean Abernathy-Raelene. Three months had passed since the beginning, as she saw it, that first fateful day when she'd suffered from the beginnings of that horrible disease. He'd turned into her knight in shining armour and carried her to the Hospital Wing.
Not only that, but he had visited her while she had been there, even when she wasn't really the best of company. Friends told her that he had come, and stayed, even when she was taking a nap. Where had that come from? What had drawn him to stay? Had he, even then, been feeling what they'd both just admitted to?
Had she?
As she wished her love a Happy Valentine's Day, he oh-so-gently brushed a wisp of hair behind her ear and shook his head, just slightly. "Ah, no, Love," He started. How magical those words were, she thought. How was it that she had been studying magic for five years, and she had never quite felt this tingling feeling?
When he spoke again, there was such compassion and sincerity in his voice that it made her want to melt into the floor into a little puddle. It was a good thing he didn't know what sort of effect he had on her, or even he might chuff up a bit! "This night is perfect because of you. You are what makes this day what it is all about."
"That's -- that's so --" Damn it all, she couldn't even catch her breath. Here they were, literally whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears like a corny romance novel. But still, it seemed so right. "Sweet," she finished on a wisp of breath, so quite that even she could barely hear it. She tried to think of something to say, but Sean took any chance of that away when he kissed her; just as gentle and light as her own had been, but longer ... much longer ...
The urge to deepen the kiss was overcome by the craving she had to simply stand there and enjoy it. So she did. She let out a tiny whimper when he finally pulled away, though he didn't move far; instead, he whispered into her ear, "Happy Valentines to you too, Lynn"
Smiling, Lynn rested her forehead on his and took a moment to put her thoughts in some semblance of order. "I'll bet you've never done this before," she whispered. "Sneaking off in the middle of a party to have a secret rendezvous just out of sight ... Prefect Sean, what kind of influence am I having on you?"
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Sean felt like a different person in these last couple of weeks. He was happier than he had been in quite some time. Lately he had become more relaxed and not as stressed out. School work didn't bother him as much and he was becoming more involved in his Prefect duties. He "blamed" this happiness on Lynn. She helped calm him down, make him less tense.
It was a wonder as to why Sean had become so tense in the first place. It seemed that some spell was cast upon him since he had gotten to Hogwarts. He figured it was because he knew this was his last chance at a school and so he tried not to make any mistakes.
It was a strange thing to think that all this was happening because of a girl. He hadn't changed completely, he was just happier. People had noticed it too. His sister asked him what he was all happy about, telling him it was getting rather annoying. She just didn't understand and he wished she could.
"That's -- that's so --"
Lynn seemed at a loss for words. Sean just smiled down at her. Sure he knew they were acting like a bunch of idiots, but sometimes when you were in a relationship it worked to just be an idiot. Those were his feelings and he didn't see any reason to hide them, especially not from Lynn.
"Sweet,"
Yes, yes it was. Sean hated guys saying stuff to girls like that just so they could get some. Feelings were feelings, they shouldn't be tossed around like a quaffle.
Sean wanted to let out a chuckle when Lynn pouted when he pulled away from the kiss. He resisted however, not wanting to ruin the moment. As Lynn leaned her forhead against his Sean let out a sigh. This was absolutly perfect.
"I'll bet you've never done this before," she whispered. "Sneaking off in the middle of a party to have a secret rendezvous just out of sight ... Prefect Sean, what kind of influence am I having on you?"
"Well you know there were those other girls I was saving to do this with later tonight but you got to me first" He joked around with her. "As for influence you're having on me, heh" He let out a little heckle, "You have no idea."
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Only a few days before, Lynn had met up with one of her best friends in the stables; Arabella, her fellow rebel. Though Lynn knew that her friend would’ve done anything to know who her latest boyfriend was, she had managed to restrain herself and keep the secret. Of course, Arabella hadn’t shown up to the ball – would she even bother? – so that meant that a gab session was in order a day or so from now. Lynn would spill all gladly. Well, all that Arabella needed to know.
Lynn knew that she probably sounded a bit idiotic, stumbling for words as she had been, but she was used to it. Sort of. Her acting classes had helped her, via improvisation exercises, to be able to come up with something to say in practically any situation. She’d certainly gotten herself into some interesting predicaments that way! But still, this was something that hadn’t happened in a while … who knew that love could put you at a loss for words?
"Well you know there were those other girls I was saving to do this with later tonight but you got to me first"
Astonished and proud, she grinned at him. “Oh, really,” she said, drawling her words out. As she kept her eyes on his, she snuck one hand up to his nose and tweaked it lightly. “And who might they be, hmm?”
"As for influence you're having on me, heh" He let out a little heckle, "You have no idea."
Raising an eyebrow, she cocked her head slightly to appraise him. “Sean, you’ve been holding out on me,” she said in a mock-stern voice. Then she dropped it. “How about telling me exactly what you’re talking about? That manic chuckle of yours makes it seem like there’s more that I should know. Should I be worried?”
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Sean contended alot with himself about balls. They were always an excuse for students to let their hair down and relax for an evening. They meant that girls got to dress up, which wasn't as much as a sacrifice on their part as it was on the guys. Dances also meant a lot of girls getting worked up about who would ask them and guys actually summing up the courage to ask the girl they wanted to.
Unlike most guys Sean liked dances. It was a time to cut loose and enjoy themselves. They didn't have to worry about school, homework, or anything pertainng to those things. It was a night full of dancing, laughing and just doing what you wanted.
Sean couldn't think of a better time than now to be with Lynn. Although they were all tucked away he still was able to be out in public with her. He wanted to show her off, not as a trophy girlfriend, oh no, but as someone that he truly cared about.
“Oh, really,” she said, drawling her words out. As she kept her eyes on his, she snuck one hand up to his nose and tweaked it lightly. “And who might they be, hmm?”
Sean cocked his head, an eyebrow shooting up. "Well if I told you, I'd have to kill you and that wouldn't do me any good. Maybe that would be better for the other girls though. That way you wouldn't have time to kill them." It felt good to be able to joke around with Lynn. Relationships weren't all suppose to be serious. Goofy around was just a perk Sean supposed.
"Sean, you’ve been holding out on me,” she said in a mock-stern voice. Then she dropped it. “How about telling me exactly what you’re talking about? That manic chuckle of yours makes it seem like there’s more that I should know. Should I be worried?”
Another laugh escaped from Sean. He meant alot of things when he said that. Of course Lynn had influenced him. In more ways than one. Sean reached his arms around Lynn, folding them together once they were behind her. He then pulled her in close saying "No, you shouldn't be worried. Believe me, its a good thing."
Sean was getting use to the idea of having a girlfriend. He always had someone to talk to, someone to count on. It was a great feeling, something he hadn't felt for quite some time.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Puck's mind was silently drifting away as the younger years talked to each other. She didn't mind associating with some of the younger students. They could be fairly entertaining and mature (as mature as young teenagers got, that is). As a general rule, however, she tried to stay away from the younger years. Distancing herself from them generally brought her away from their petty little problems. A year ago, perhaps she probably would have been able to identify herself with their problems, but nowadays none of that seemed to matter anymore. The Drama in her life had increased significantly since the end of last year. Before the closet, all she had worried about was where to set off the next prank. After the closet, she became involved in something far more twisted and sadistic. Young love. Ugh. From that she went to complete and utter solitude, which had been absolutely miserable. How was she supposed to be happy when there was young love budding all around? It didn't help that in a matter of months, her parents would have a physical representation of their love screaming at them from a bassinet.
Puck was well on her way to becoming a love cynic. She didn't know it, and she didn't particularly care. All she knew was that when she tried to find romance, cupid shot her in the forehead with an anti-love arrow. It was as though the humanoid creature had something against her. At least now, Puck knew never to get involved with friends. That was disastrous. There was no 'jumping lanes', or 'friends with benefits'. That sort of thing couldn't possibly ever work out, regardless of who the participants were. And transition men? Forget them. She knew that she wasn't the type of girl to have someone to use as a train to get from love interest A to love interest B. She was far too attached for something like that. So what had made her think that she could accomplish complete and utter detachment? An experienced lover-boy, and her own misgivings about romance. And where had it gotten her? Standing with a bunch of younger years, with no one to so much as dance with on Valentines Day.
As Puck stood there, trying to remain locked in her own inner world of thoughts, a slow and melancholy tune drifted through her mind. ... Such a lonely day... And it's mine. The most loneliest day of my liiiife. Such a lonely day -- should be banned. It's a day that I can't staaand... The most loneliest day of my liiife.. The most loneliest day of my liiife... Such a lonely day -- shouldn't exist. It's a day that I'll never miiiss.. Such a lonely day, and it's mine. The most loneliest day of my liiife.. She sighed heavily and happened to glance down at Breena, who suddenly had the most curious expression on her face. It looked as though she were almost tripping over herself to get to know... A slytherin? Puck's concerned eyes flickered between Breena and Lance. He looked just as worried as Puck felt. Not a good sign.
"Oh shit." He was trying to be a little quiet and controlled, but Puck definitely recognized that as an exceedingly bad sign. "I'm Lance. I was just over here a minute ago." He pointed to the wall. "You gave me a weird look..." he trailed off, growing more desperate before spitting out, "I'm a SLYTHERIN!"
A surprised "Ack!" Escaped Puck's lips as Lance suddenly dove behind her, using her as some sort of barrier between him and the first year. She could feel him peering over her shoulder at Breena, but she ignored it. "He's right Breena, he's Slytherin--and no good comes from Slytherins like his type. What's gotten into you? Has Cupid gone stupid and shot you between the eyes so that you can't even see what's in front of you?" She, more than anyone at that ball, should have been able to recognize the effects of a love potion. The love potion made by Ashton and Fefe had been what had broken the camel's back in their strange relationship. But she wasn't even thinking about false feelings, she was too busy feeling concerned with Breena. Puck figured that her first mistake that she had made to lead her down the path that she had walked, began with a Slytherin. Was it possible for Breena to make the same mistake? Absolutely. This was the last thing that Puck wanted for the young Gryffindor. Thus, thoughts of love potions didn't even enter her mind.
