Tommy’s pleased to see Katy socialising with people her own age, when she joins Sarah, Todd and Karl at a Badly Drawn Boy gig.
Ciaran continues to wind Martin up about Karl’s friendship with Katy. Later, when Katy fails to return from the concert on time Martin becomes increasingly jealous. Are Martin’s concerns justified?

Katy is still in a mood with Martin over his jealousy towards Karl. Stunned by her revelation regarding Karl’s sexuality, Martin puts an end to Ciaran’s taunts about Katy and Karl’s friendship. Todd over hears this exchange and is equally surprised to learn that Karl is gay.

Todd suggests to Sarah, that if they are to become a proper family after they are married then he should adopt Bethany.
Also, Karl is put out by Todd’s indifferent attitude towards him.

Todd still feels very uncomfortable around Karl and has trouble even engaging in a conversation at work. So when the two of them find themselves stuck in a broken down lift alone, Karl uses the opportunity to tackle what he sees as Todd's homophobia. He's surprised though when Todd reveals the real reason he has been avoiding him.

In the pub after work Todd finds himself enjoying Karl's company more and more and he's chuffed when Karl suggests they go out for a drink together another time.

Sarah and Todd go for a baby scan and are elated when the sonographer tells then that Sarah is probably carrying a baby boy. They tell a delighted Gail the good news and joke over possible names for their unborn son.

Todd ignores Sarah's pleas for him to spend the night in with her and keeps his 'date' with Karl. Things get a little tricky when Karl's boyfriend turns up at the bar, but Karl manages to get rid of him and the lads enjoy a drunken evening together. Karl walks back to the flat with Todd and things look as though they may get intimate – but Todd reluctantly says goodnight and heads upstairs to Sarah.

Karl has had major grief from Robbie over Todd. Karl and Todd go for a drink and they share their relationship woes and bond over a beer. Will Sarah assume something when he comes home late?

it’s Todd's first day in his new job as a porter at the hospital. Sarah is feeling run down, so Todd promises to come straight home. But later, in the hospital canteen, he spots Karl with a black eye and is instantly concerned by Karl’s injuries. Karl is sheepish and offers to explain all over a drink. Will Todd leave Sarah in the lurch again to comfort his pal?

In the Rovers Return, Karl sits down with Todd and tells him why he and Robbie had a fight – because Karl admitted that he fancies someone at work. Todd quizzes him about who it is. Embarrassed, Karl admits it’s Todd. But before the two guys get the chance to discuss this, Sarah comes in looking for Todd and is shocked when she sees the state of Karl’s face. Kindly, she insists to her stunned boyfriend that Karl must stay with them until he can move out of Robbie’s. Does Karl accept her offer?

Katy is trying to find out from Karl why he had such a big fight with Robbie. Karl remains closeted about it and tries to change the subject. She helps him get his belongings from his flat, and later Karl goes back to Sarah and Todd’s. Sarah asks Todd if he is OK with Karl being there, as he has asked to stay a bit longer. Todd agrees, but can’t help but feel troubled by the increasingly awkward situation.

Karl’s boyfriend causes ructions in the street. Martin and Karl are about to leave Coronation Street to go to work when they are confronted by Karl’s angry and jealous ex, Robbie. He point blank accuses Karl of having an affair with ‘gay’ Martin and tries to provoke Martin into fighting him. Karl manages to break up the fight, but Robbie is livid at his ex, and brands him “cheating lying scum”.

Todd is keen to get a special gift for Karl despite Sarah's protestations that they can't afford to buy him anything. In the latest in what is becoming a long list of deceptions, Todd goes to town to treat his new friend to an expensive shirt. Thinking it is for Todd, Sunita is impressed and congratulates him on his good taste. Guilty Todd doesn't enlighten her to the real intended recipient of the gift.

Both Todd and Karl are secretly pleased when it looks as though Sarah can't come to the birthday party in the gay village due to babysitting problems. But once at the party, Todd is starting to feel out of his depth, and when he sees Karl with his boyfriend Robbie he can't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Deciding to leave, he sneaks out of the door only to discover that Karl has followed him. Finally the feelings Todd has been harbouring for Karl come flooding out and he kisses him – getting a very different response from when he kissed Nick.
Meanwhile Sarah has managed to persuade Martin to babysit and is at that very moment arriving at the bar in a cab with Katy. Is the game up for Todd and Karl?

Todd is left shaken when Sarah arrives and almost catches him and Karl in a clinch. Rattled by his near miss, he finds it hard to enjoy the rest of the party and leaves early with a disgruntled Sarah in tow. Furious that he has dragged her away from her first night out in ages an angry row ensues, and as guilty Todd lies about his real reasons for wanting to leave, Sarah backs down. Later, however, as she is sleeping Todd gets a text message from Karl and secretly phones him. Sarah wakes up to hear him talking on the phone – how will Todd explain this one?

Todd is in turmoil over his feelings for Karl and seeks him out at the hospital to talk about the previous night's events. Karl is sceptical at first, bearing in mind Todd is engaged to Sarah with a baby on the way, but Todd is determined to make him realise that he is serious about him. Karl can see, however, that Todd is nervous about taking the plunge and entering into a relationship with him. Back at home, oblivious Sarah is excitedly planning Gail's birthday treat and is thrilled when Gail says she'll lend them the money for an engagement ring.

Gail is delighted to find the whole family assembled at the house for a surprise birthday portrait, but Todd is finding the whole thing increasingly uncomfortable – especially now Sarah is wearing his engagement ring. Later at the pizzeria he is feels even more guilty when he gets a text message from Karl just as Sarah is telling everyone how much she cares for him. Will he be able to cope with this double life?

Todd continues to battle with his conscience. Sunita realises Todd is troubled and, showing concern, asks if everything is OK with him. Pleased to be able to talk to someone, Todd confides that his responsibilities are currently weighing heavily on his mind. Sunita presses him; is he having doubts about marrying Sarah? Todd claims he’s not, and is lucky to have Sarah in his life. Sunita advises a grateful Todd that he is still young and it is not too late to change things in his life. He must follow his heart. Food for thought – but will he heed Sunita’s wise words?

Sarah plans a romantic afternoon with Todd. She persuades him to throw a sickie from work and spend time with her. Todd is reluctant – he’d rather catch up with Karl to discuss recent events. Torn between the two, who will Todd decide is more important, Karl or Sarah? How long can Todd go dividing his time before Sarah becomes suspicious?

Troubled Todd finally makes up his mind – he’s going to spend the afternoon with Karl. He heads off to the flat to tell Sarah he can’t be with her today, but Sarah is pre-occupied chatting to mum Gail. Todd heads back to the Rovers but is dismayed to find Karl has already left. Later, a concerned Sarah tackles Todd about his recent moody behavior. How will Todd react to Sarah’s questioning? Will he crack under the mounting pressure?

Todd has spent the night on the sofa. A worried Sarah tries to talk to him again but Todd just shuts her out. He later chats to Karl, who tells Todd he went out last night and had a great night, Karl intimates he spent the night with someone else. This stirs Todd’s jealously. He can no longer cope with the pressure of the situation. Todd calls in to number 11. Eileen realises her son is upset and needs to talk to someone. Will Todd confide in Eileen and tell her about his true feelings?

Stunned Eileen comes to terms with Todd’s shocking confession. The pair have an emotional heart-to-heart and Todd tells Eileen that he loves both Sarah and Karl. Todd confides in his mum that he thinks he is going to make a go of it with Sarah, for Bethany and the new baby’s sake. Eileen advises him that she thinks this is the wrong move. Todd is shocked by Eileen’s attitude towards Sarah and his expected child. The pair disagree, and their chat descends into a slanging match. Todd resolves to make a go of his relationship with Sarah. Has Todd finally made his choice?
Elsewhere, Sarah turns to Gail and Audrey for support. Sarah feels that Todd should be talking to her instead of Eileen. Audrey reassures her worried granddaughter that Sarah must be open and honest with Todd about her feelings and needs. Sarah resolves to talk to Todd, unaware of the ticking time bomb waiting to explode under their relationship.

Sarah is dumfounded when she wakes to find Todd in an apologetic mood. He reassures her that everything is fine between them, and in a bid to prove to Sarah that he is committed to their relationship suggests they set a date for their wedding. How does this summer sound? The pair soon set about letting their respective families know about their impending nuptials. Upon hearing the news, Gail immediately invites Eileen round to start discussing plans. Todd panics, knowing all too well that Eileen is set against letting her confused son marry Sarah. Will Eileen be able to keep her counsel or will she reveal all in a bid to stop the wedding? And is Sarah’s young life about to be turned into turmoil again?

Accompanied by Todd, a distraught Sarah arrives at the hospital suffering from a suspected miscarriage. The hospital staff inform the frantic pair that although the baby is in no danger she must undergo tests to ensure the well-being of her un-born child. Todd puts on a brave face for Sarah’s sake but later confides in Eileen. He tells his concerned mother that during the scare he’d thought about what would have happened if Sarah had lost the baby, explaining to a shocked Eileen that he felt it would have made his current predicament easier to deal with. Disgusted with himself, Todd breaks down and sobs uncontrollably into his mother’s arms. Knowing all about her son’s mixed emotions, Eileen is at a loss as to what she can do to help him. She’s not just going to stand-by whilst Todd tears himself apart. With Sarah recuperating, Eileen decides she must turn to someone else in order to help understand Todd’s confused feelings. Will Eileen make the right choice, or will her actions only serve to deepen Todd’s woes?

Eileen has tracked down Karl at the hospital. She needs to talk to him about his involvement with Todd. The pair discuss Todd’s current emotional plight. Karl informs Eileen that he did fancy Todd and believed Todd felt the same, but as Karl continues he makes it clear to Eileen that her son has made his choice - he believes Todd wants to be with Sarah. Eileen disagrees, informing a surprised Karl that Todd has confided in her that he loves Karl. This news renews Karl’s interest. Later, Todd learns that Eileen has been talking with Karl and goes to apologise to him for Eileen’s interference. Have Eileen’s words served to put an end to her son’s entanglement with Karl?

Todd is in turmoil. After spending the night with Karl, Eileen’s son’s mind is even more mixed up than ever. Sarah is being allowed home from hospital today and has been told she must take it easy. With his pregnant girlfriend’s health in mind, Todd decides now is not the time to rock the boat. However, Sarah is not Todd’s only problem; Eileen knows the extent of his feeling towards Karl. Will Todd be able to persuade his outspoken mother that he has decided to put his doubts behind him and pledge his future to Sarah, Bethany and their unborn child?

After another illicit liaison with Karl, Todd decides he does want to begin an affair with the attractive male nurse. Will the predatory Karl be able to accept that in order to have a relationship with Todd he must share him with Todd’s long term girlfriend, Sarah?

With the party in full swing, Todd is finding being in the same room as Karl and Sarah suffocating to say the least. Karl, on the other hand, is finding it quite exciting and can’t help but brag to Katy about his ‘secret lover’. But he is furious when Todd makes a show of togetherness with Sarah, and does his best to make Todd feel uncomfortable.
