Well I’ve only just joined but from what I’ve seen and read from your board through lurking and from what I’ve heard from other members I’ve formulated my own opinion on the matter.
Yeah I know you sort of moved on but I still want to voice my opinion.
What it seems to me is that your board is split up into three types of post, conversational and happy roleplay, fighting and action roleplay, and out of character chat.
The problem that seems to be with your system that everyone here has complained about, in my opinion, is that to count post count as a basis for the power of your character is by far much too unrelated to what it stands for. Post count is a number for everything, for out of character, in character, and in character that isn’t even training. Gaining powers and amazing martial arts abilities is through training and hard work.
What it seems to me is that you need to find a way of filtering out this out of character chat and posts that aren’t about training from your system.
An example of how this could be done would be:
-A person starts a roleplay thread; the aim of this thread is to train in the forest with another person.
-The two people train and this continues for a while.
-One of these two people posts a new thread in a newly established “Finished sessions” forum informing the staff that their training is complete.
-One of the members of staff reads the training thread and gives it a set amount of points depending on quality and quantity.
-These points are then added to these members custom title under a new heading, something like "Power Points!!" or PP for short.
Using this method you could then filter out all non-training roleplay and out of character from their gaining of powers. Which prevents any students from finding out that they have somehow gained the ability to fire eye lasers just by singing karaoke. Or like as I've noticed by reading a few threads, going on dates with blind girls.
It also makes sure people who just post fifty posts with three lines a post with bad spelling don’t end up becoming more powerful than good roleplayers who just have less time to post. This is because the points given would be marked on quality as well as quantity.
This would also prevent the obvious GIGANTIC amount of work the mods and admins will have to do if they were put to the task of needing to mark or count every single roleplaying session on the board after it has been done. As only training posts would need to be counted, especially seeing as roleplaying training and fighting is harder than just roleplaying talking.
You could also prevent the need to constantly check the proposed "Finished Thread" forum by just making a single forum for training, although this is a far fetched idea.
You could then use post count for something more fun, like getting items.
I sort of have already guessed what people are going to say, that a massive change like this would take a lot of time and effort and that you’re already too far into this system to change or something. But dudes... you made a thread with the purpose just to constantly moan at this system, maybe the only good thing to do is to think about ALL the points brought up by everyone, and make a completely new system that everyone can agree on.
I’m saying this as an observer, I just plan on roleplaying random lulz anyway. x3
