Re: New Proposed Rules *EVERYONE PLEASE READ*
Well I’ve only just joined but from what I’ve seen and read from your board through lurking and from what I’ve heard from other members I’ve formulated my own opinion on the matter.

Yeah I know you sort of moved on but I still want to voice my opinion.

What it seems to me is that your board is split up into three types of post, conversational and happy roleplay, fighting and action roleplay, and out of character chat.

The problem that seems to be with your system that everyone here has complained about, in my opinion, is that to count post count as a basis for the power of your character is by far much too unrelated to what it stands for. Post count is a number for everything, for out of character, in character, and in character that isn’t even training. Gaining powers and amazing martial arts abilities is through training and hard work.

What it seems to me is that you need to find a way of filtering out this out of character chat and posts that aren’t about training from your system.

An example of how this could be done would be:

-A person starts a roleplay thread; the aim of this thread is to train in the forest with another person.
-The two people train and this continues for a while.
-One of these two people posts a new thread in a newly established “Finished sessions” forum informing the staff that their training is complete.
-One of the members of staff reads the training thread and gives it a set amount of points depending on quality and quantity.
-These points are then added to these members custom title under a new heading, something like "Power Points!!" or PP for short.

Using this method you could then filter out all non-training roleplay and out of character from their gaining of powers. Which prevents any students from finding out that they have somehow gained the ability to fire eye lasers just by singing karaoke. Or like as I've noticed by reading a few threads, going on dates with blind girls.

It also makes sure people who just post fifty posts with three lines a post with bad spelling don’t end up becoming more powerful than good roleplayers who just have less time to post. This is because the points given would be marked on quality as well as quantity.

This would also prevent the obvious GIGANTIC amount of work the mods and admins will have to do if they were put to the task of needing to mark or count every single roleplaying session on the board after it has been done. As only training posts would need to be counted, especially seeing as roleplaying training and fighting is harder than just roleplaying talking.

You could also prevent the need to constantly check the proposed "Finished Thread" forum by just making a single forum for training, although this is a far fetched idea.

You could then use post count for something more fun, like getting items.

I sort of have already guessed what people are going to say, that a massive change like this would take a lot of time and effort and that you’re already too far into this system to change or something. But dudes... you made a thread with the purpose just to constantly moan at this system, maybe the only good thing to do is to think about ALL the points brought up by everyone, and make a completely new system that everyone can agree on.

I’m saying this as an observer, I just plan on roleplaying random lulz anyway. x3

I have considered proposing such a system, but it would be ineffective here since the administrators are rarely online. It's hard enough getting characters and powers approved; the situation we have now where you can get a character approved in less than a week is much better than par for this board...

Then why are you guys even feffing around with powers anyway? I thought this board was suposed to be themed about a school yet you've only done three lessons in the entire time this board has been up, since September 15, 2003.

Couldn't you just not think about powers and just focus more on roleplaying lessons and having fun until your admins come back?

Usually 2/5 of the admins are here (me and Merciah). A couple days ago, 3/5 were (Itami).

Yes, we know classes haven't started; we're making an attempt at trying to get everything else sorted out before classes. I guess you could say it's not exactly on the top of our priority list.

As a side note, I am leaving this thread open for discussion, and you may also propose your own ideas if they do not completely match either side, or you may back up whichever side you like. Keep in mind though that our final decision will not be exactly one idea or another, but rather a blend between [hopefully] them all.

The idea that finished threads dealing with powers be provided is a good idea. And we are talking about something that involves that in the approval process. The thing we have to consider is that when people want new powers, not just upgrades to current ones that is when regular rp quality and post count would come to bare.

And the comment about the classes. They have been run more times then what is visible. Actually. There was a time that classes were fairly regular. That was up untill the big EzBoard crash when we lost a great deal of threads and members.

And yes, as Hells said. Invisionfree would be useful for not counting OOC posts. But untill something like that happens. We are going to have to rely on our current resources for post counting.

A side note. I am enjoying this thread, because it is bringing ideas that can be used and implemented into what we currently have as a system.

This is where I put more of my random thoughts. :)

Has everyone heard, there have been attacks in the forest. More and more students are showing up in Mrs Hanabishi's ward by the day. What's going on. It's the talk of the school.
