Re: Meeting of the gamers (Thorny)

" My roommate is very... different. We're exact opposites, so it's ironic that we got stuck together. She's pretty cool, provided you get to know her and don't question her judgment that much."

Didn't question her judgements? Pax supposed that if that helped the two of them get along, that it was alright. Still, he thought that maybe they should work out a time-sharing type compromise, so he gave her another poke, for good measure.

" Well, I question a lot of the stuff she says. Like how she always calls me a 'lady of the night.' It's not nice, but it doesn't bother me that much."

"Lady of the night? Ye got lots of male friends calling all the time, girly? P'raps thats why she doesn't think too highly of ye. Personally, ye don't seem like a tart to me."

" If I was here on my own in this room, I'd set up all my consoles on separate TV's around the room and have a comfortable chair in the middle. Depending on how long I would want to go for, I would have a tiny fridge put in somewhere too. That way I wouldn't have to leave."

Pax grinned at that, Ryoko had gotten awfully close to describing his digs.

"I gots all me game systems hooked up through a special switch, I jist press buttons to switch 'em up, they're hooked to a pair of monitors for split screening, and I gots a big ol' bean bag right in front of 'em. It's grand."

" My roommate is very conservative. She wears long dresses and is y'know, very respected in her mind." Ryoko said. She didn't really know how to explain her roommate to people. When they met her they would see how interesting she was. " I don't have people calling all the time, I hardly have people call at all. But yeah, because I don't look, act and dress like her, apparently I'm a slut." She added.

Ryoko nodded as he explained his room. She figured someone who was very into games like him would try and get a room done up like that. " Did you hook all that up yourself? It sounds pretty cool." She commented.

" My roommate is very conservative. She wears long dresses and is y'know, very respected in her mind."

In her mind? Did the girl have delusions of grandeur? Perhaps Pax would have to search her out. She might provide some mild entertainment when he was on a video game slump. Besides, he'd never met anyone conservative before.

" I don't have people calling all the time, I hardly have people call at all. But yeah, because I don't look, act and dress like her, apparently I'm a slut."

"Meh, ferget her then. Ye don't need to be judged based on yer digs, or yer past times fer that matter. Unless yer pasttimes are slaughtering small children and drinking their blood, then they can pass judgements . . . "

" Did you hook all that up yourself? It sounds pretty cool."

"I did, apparently I can be pretty clever when me games are at stake. I like to have the ultimate experience for each and every game I ever play, and if the system ain't set up right, ye don't get that, ye know?"

Ryoko simply shrugged. It wasn't like she let Ayeka get to her anyway, she just laughed at the things she had to say. She had a way of talking that made it sound funny to her. " My pastimes are perfectly normal, don't you worry about that." She replied. When hearing about his gaming system, it made Ryoko not want a roommate so she could to something like that. She could picture Ayeka going off at her in her head, and it brought a small smile to her face.

" So I'm guessing you have no roommate?" She asked.

" My pastimes are perfectly normal, don't you worry about that."

Pax chuckled. He hadn't taken her for the maiming-babies kinda girl, but you never knew. There might have been a reason behind those red eyes. Personally, he thought they were cool. They made her look like a chick from a video game, which was just awesome.

"Glad to hear that. I was startin' to worry that I might have to watch me back, ye know? Wouldna want to be murdered violently in me sleep, after all."

" So I'm guessing you have no roommate?"

"I dunno. I don't seem to, since nobody has shown up yet, but there were things in the room, like a bed and stuff. I suppose that doesn't mean anyone lives there, I didn't see any clothes or anything. They may have toddled off somewheres, ye know? If they return, they'll be surprised for sure."

Just then Ryoko's door flung open and Hawthorne appeared, all breathless and excited. She gave Pax a curious look, but focused most of her attention on Ryoko.

"Koko! We're going to the Dragon's Breath Karaoke Bar in Downtown Buffalo tonight, you should come!" She looked at the tall boy sitting on the floor. "Bring your friend, it'll be loads of fun!"

With that Hawthorne disappeared again.

" All rooms come with two beds, desks and cupboards, just for when you do get a roommate. The end rooms of each floor only fit one person in, so they're smaller." Ryoko explained. Suddenly, out of no where Hawthorne ran up and threw the door open. The sudden move made Ryoko jump and look over with a shocked look on her face. She looked excited, and Ryoko wondered what was going on.

"Koko! We're going to the Dragon's Breath Karaoke Bar in Downtown Buffalo tonight, you should come!"..."Bring your friend, it'll be loads of fun!"

Then, just like that, she was gone again. Ryoko looked to Pax questionably. He had mentioned just before not going anywhere other than his room. She wondered if he would want to go. " That was Hawthorne. She's, I guess you could say, my best friend." The thief quickly explained. She wondered if he was thinking about Thorny's offer. " Want to go?" She asked.

Pax considered a lot of things all at once. The first thing was the insane difference between Ryoko and the girl whom she called her best friend. The dark-haired crazy-woman didn't look like a gamer, nor did she appear to be the type that took care of themselves, as Ryoko's muscles made it clear that she did. Still, he wanted to get to know the red-eyed girl a little more, so he shrugged.

"It's not me usual scene, but ye can prolly get a pint or such there, and I wouldna mind spending some more time getting to know you. After all, if ye know the player, ye know how they play the game, ye know?"

He grinned at her. Perhaps he'd challenge her to a beer-drinking contest. She seemed the kind of girl who would be into that kinda thing.

Ryoko assumed it wouldn't be his type of thing to do, but none the less it would be fun. " If you go with me, I promise that I will spend all day playing random killing games with you. I know you can't say no to that!" She said, smirking. She bet his weakness would be games, and having someone to play against always made games like that more fun. Ryoko had a good feeling about this guy, they could end up being really good friends.

She was right. There was no way that Pax was gonna say no to that. A whole day of random killing games with another avid gamer . . . it sounded like Heaven. He gave her a sharp-eyed look.

"Ye're a tough bargainer, but I'll agree. Methinks it'll be fun, at least, the day of games after will be. We'll do it in me room, I gots more systems, and apparently nobody to bother us. Deal?"

Then something struck Pax. He'd never been out to a karaoke bar before, he wondered if people got all dressed up for them?

"What are ye gonna wear for the evening out?"

Ryoko nodded, wanting to see what his room was like. It sounded like a dream for her. " Ok, since my roommate wouldn't like the idea of me having a boy in my room all day." She explained, picturing Ayeka's reaction in her mind. She looked back to the screen before he asked his next question.

"What are ye gonna wear for the evening out?"

" Um..." Ryoko began. She'd never been to a Karaoke bar before either, so she had no idea. " Let me check." She said, standing up and leaving the controller behind. She poked her head out the door, then looked back at Pax. " Don't you mess with my game. I will get you." She commented.

Sticking her head out the door again, she noticed that Hawthorne's door was open. " Hey Thorny!" Ryoko called. She waited for her to look out or say something before she spoke. " What are you wearing to this thing?" She asked.

Re: Meeting of the gamers (Thorny)
Ayeka had been coming up the other end of the hall from hawthorne and ryoko. She was currently on her cell phone talking to her fiancee john. He had just told her she had intended to come visit her some time over the weekend. She was overjoyed by the news and so had headed to her room to make sure it looked good for his arrival.

When she got closer to her dormroom she saw Ryoko was yelling at someone but she couldn't tell who. Honestly, that girl had about as much manners as a mule. She approached the door and brushed by Ayeka still on her cell phone when she entered the room her mouth, and her phone dropped to the floor.

There was a young man in her room, a tall lanky boy who was sitting in his pajamas.

"RYOKO!!!" She screamed stomping up to her roomates face.

"We had a deal rule number 1 NO BOYS! My poor plant friends must have seen horrible things!" Suddenly, Micheal, one of Ayeka's trees from her window sill spoke.

"They were just sitting there playing a game." He said

"Oh shut up Micheal no one cares what you think!"

" Ok, since my roommate wouldn't like the idea of me having a boy in my room all day."

"Yeah, that seems to be the case with ye two. I dun mind though, it'll be fun."

He was looking forward to the day of games, he even went so far as to rub his hands together in anticipation. What a riot they were gonna have, he had to get her to play some of the old Atari games, they'd be too funny . . .

" Let me check."
" Don't you mess with my game. I will get you."

As soon as she stuck her head out the door, he grabbed her controller and sent her little man running into the middle of a huge group of aliens. He chuckled as the man died a horrible death. Then Pax absently wondered what horrible thing the red-eyed girl was going to do to him for that, but she was busy yelling out the door at the person who had left . . .

" Hey Thorny!"
" What are you wearing to this thing?"

Hawthorne poked her head back out the door, but Ayeka had already entered the room. She really wasn't sure what she was gonna wear, it would be a tough call.

"I'm not sure yet, where's Ayeka when you need her?"

"RYOKO!!!"

"Ahh, there she is . . ."

"We had a deal rule number 1 NO BOYS! My poor plant friends must have seen horrible things!"

Pax was looking rather uncomfortable sitting on the floor as the green-haired girl lost her mind. She was shouting at Ryoko, and he felt kinda bad for her. Maybe he should help her out.

"Oh shut up Micheal no one cares what you think!"

Idly, he wondered who Michael was. He hadn't heard anyone else speak. He raised an eyebrow. The girl had never said her roommate was crazy, maybe he'd just stay sitting on the floor.

Lucky for the pair of them, Hawthorne came darting down the hall to run interference. She got ahold of Ayeka gently, and tried to calm her down.

"I'm sorry Ayeka, its my fault. I was supposed to show . . ." she had no idea what the boy's name was, damn! "the boy around, but I lost him. Still, I need your help desperately. We're going to a Karaoke bar tonight, and I don't know what to wear. You have to come too!"

"RYOKO!!!"

" Oh snap, hide Pax!" Ryoko yelled, as a joke. She allowed Ayeka to get in her face and just smiled the whole time. She found it funny when Ayeka went off at her, but she couldn't ever figure out why. They were just so different, that might have been it.

"We had a deal rule number 1 NO BOYS! My poor plant friends must have seen horrible things!"

Ryoko pretended to clean her ear out with her pinky because Ayeka had been yelling. " Ow Ayeka, you don't have to yell. I am right in front of you." She began. Looking over to Pax, she smirked. " Relax Ayeka, we were just playing a game, see? No harm done." She explained, not looking at the screen yet.

"I'm sorry Ayeka, its my fault. I was supposed to show . . ."..."the boy around, but I lost him. Still, I need your help desperately. We're going to a Karaoke bar tonight, and I don't know what to wear. You have to come too!"

Quickly jumping on board the lie, Ryoko spoke. " Yeah, thats what Pax told me. Ayeka, you should help Thorny out with what she has to wear, and come along. It will be fun." She explained, trying to get Ayeka out of the room and hopefully calm her down. She thought of something. " Oh, Thorny, that reminds me, Pax is coming along with me, hope thats ok." She said.

Ayeka looked between the two girls and the boy sitting in front of her and grumbled. It annoyed her to no end how Ryoko simply ignored her when she yelled at the demon woman. She started to calm down, remembering she had to meet John when he came by later.

"Hawthorne, i will gladly help you pick out something to wear but i can't come with you tonight. You see John's coming by later, you know my fiance? Because unlike some people, i have morales!" Ayeka yelled turning on her heel and now facing Pax. She could understand why the boy had been there but why was he in his pajamas?

"Now you, out!" She said turning to the boy and pointing to the door. She walked past him towards her wardrobe and purposefully kicked Ryoko's controller her as she did to spite her.

"Honestly Ryoko i had three rules for you to follow when i moved in and you broke them all! It's not like i asked you to clean or anything." She knew getting Ryoko to clean her side of the room was a lost cause.

" Oh snap, hide Pax!"

It seemed to the boy like it was a little late for that one. The woman was here, and she was not impressed. He didn't know how Ryoko managed to keep her cool. He'd run away if he had to deal with this harridan every day.

" Yeah, thats what Pax told me. Ayeka, you should help Thorny out with what she has to wear, and come along. It will be fun."

Pax couldn't immagine anything being fun with the crazy lady along, but he grinned as the girls seemed to cobble together an improbable story out of thin air. They were very good, and he wanted to see them work together more. Maybe he could rope Ryoko's friend into the day of gaming as well.

" Oh, Thorny, that reminds me, Pax is coming along with me, hope thats ok."

"Of course, Pax is more than welcome to come. It should be a riot, especially if darling Ayeka can make it."

She grasped at the name Ryoko had given her, glad that she had caught on to the whole thing. There was no reason to get Ayeka all in a fit about this particular situation, it wouldn't serve anyone any good.

"Hawthorne, i will gladly help you pick out something to wear but i can't come with you tonight. You see John's coming by later, you know my fiance? Because unlike some people, i have morales!"

"I'll be glad for your help Ayeka, but I wish you'd reconsider on the whole joining us tonight issue. You could bring John, it would be a great opportunity for us to all meet him."

"Now you, out!"

The boy didn't wait for the crazy lady to tell him twice. He jumped up, grabbed his corduroy jacket, and headed for the door. On his way out he passed by Ryoko, and gave her a questioning look.

"What time should I pick you up? Or meet you there? Or . . . whatever . . ."

"Honestly Ryoko i had three rules for you to follow when i moved in and you broke them all! It's not like i asked you to clean or anything."

Ryoko simply grinned at her roommate. It was so much fun to get Ayeka angry, she was the funniest person when she was. It hadn't taken Ryoko long to break Ayeka's rules. She'd had boys in the room before and Ayeka never knew about it. Shrugging, Ryoko thought now would be a great time to tell her. " Well I've had a guy break into this room before. He broke the door into splinters. Nice guy. Named Seth, you'd like him Ayeka." She explained.

"Now you, out!"..."What time should I pick you up? Or meet you there? Or . . . whatever . . ."

Grabbing his arm, Ryoko stopped the boy from leaving the room. It wasn't fair that Ayeka was kicking her friends out. It was her room first. " Chill out Pax, you don't even know what to wear yet." She commented. Turning to Hawthorne, Ryoko smiled, still having a grip on Pax's arm. " What's the dress code?" She asked.

Re: Meeting of the gamers (Thorny)
Ayeka listened to Hawthornes suggestion about her and John going to karaoke and thought it over. Did she really want her fiance to meet these people? At first she thought the answer was obvious but then she thought perhaps having John around would make her feel more comfortable, especially if Ryoko tried anything stupid. Ayeka turned to Hawthorne and nodded.

" Alright then Hawthorne. I shall call John and get him to come with us." she said. Ayeka chose to ignore Ryoko's attempts to anger her. She was aware of what happened with what Seth done because her plants had told her, much like they told her when Ryoko stole money from her. She instead chose to answer Ryoko's question about the dress code.

" I suggest it should be very formal. Dresses and whatnot. Ryoko you might be in trouble there. But then again I'm sure you can afford a new dress with the money you stole from me. Thats right! I know about it! My plants told me." She said. When Ryoko grabbed Paxs hand Ayeka imediatly slapped Ryokos hand away.

" No no. Out!" Ayeka yelled.

" Well I've had a guy break into this room before. He broke the door into splinters. Nice guy. Named Seth, you'd like him Ayeka."

They had people breaking into rooms here? Pax gave Ryoko a curious look. In fact, so did Hawthorne. She hadn't known stuff like that was going on, on her floor no less. She shrugged, and Pax looked interested. He'd ask questions later.

" Alright then Hawthorne. I shall call John and get him to come with us."

"Excellent, Ayeka. I'd love to meet your fiancee, I am sure he is quite the gentleman."

Ryoko stopped Pax from leaving the room. He gave her a curious look. He was fairly certain that the green-haired girl had meant right away, but he could be wrong.

" Chill out Pax, you don't even know what to wear yet."

"Well, I was just gonna wear what I'm wearing now, honestly. I don't really have much else . . ."

He shrugged. His wardrobe didn't really contain much variety, since he was lazy. Besides, why waste suitcase space on clothes when you could have games instead?

" What's the dress code?"
" I suggest it should be very formal. Dresses and whatnot. Ryoko you might be in trouble there. But then again I'm sure you can afford a new dress with the money you stole from me. Thats right! I know about it! My plants told me."

Formal?!? Hawthorne sighed, but supposed she could manage to wear one of those dresses that Ayeka had made her purchase, even if she didn't want to. She ignored the tirade about Ryoko, the two girls would work that out on their own.

"All right, Ayeka, I'll meet you back in my room."

" No no. Out!"

Pax looked at his hand in surprise. Did the green haired girl really just slap his hand? He blinked at her, and then turned to Ryoko.

"I'll throw on a nicer jacket if its formal, and I'll come pick ye up at six-thirty."

Then the boy turned tail and fled down the hall to his room. The plant lady was scary!

Ryoko glared at Ayeka. Why couldn't there be an outing that didn't involve her wearing a dress. Being made to do it once was enough already. Shrugged, Ryoko looked over to her closet. " No, I'll be fine. Don't you worry about me princess." She said, scratching her head lightly as she let Pax go.

"All right, Ayeka, I'll meet you back in my room."

The sound in Hawthorne's voice made it clear that she didn't really want to wear a dress. Ryoko was feeling the same way. She put her hand on Thorny's shoulder and spoke. " I suppose I'll have to wear a dress too then. I wasn't going to but I will, just so you don't have to be the only one hating the experience." She explained.

"I'll throw on a nicer jacket if its formal, and I'll come pick you up at six-thirty."

Ryoko removed her hand and looked at Pax as he spoke to her. Then he seemed to take off as quick as he could. " Sure thing." She replied. Ryoko then looked over to her roommate. " Y'know Ayeka, you really have a scary vibe going for you right now." She said.

Re: Meeting of the gamers (Thorny)
Ayeka watched Pax leave and shook her head. She was already growing very tired of having Ryoko as a roomate and it had been such a short amount of time, how on earth was she going to survive till the demon was expelled? She figured Ryoko wouldn't make it to the end of the year the way she behaved.

"If having this "scary vibe" keeps these strange men from coming into my room I'm fine with it, at least it i don't give of a promiscuous vibe like you." Ayeka said. She turned to her wardrobe and quickly picked out a light purple dress. She layed it down on her bed then decided to head after Hawthorne. As she left the room she turned around in the doorway.

"And i want my money back." She yelled to Ryoko then headed down the hall to Hawthorne's room. When she got there she clapped her hands in front of her and smiled.

"So what are you thinking?" She asked
