Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Quietly, Art led the Scottish girl into his room. He was a simple person of simple tastes, so his room lacked any kind of ostention. All of the standard furnishings the room had been left intact. Only the top bunk had sheets on it, the bottom still a bare matress, and the only furniture in the small living area was a beanbag chair. The only wood in the room was a small bookcase, filled double-deep with an eclectic variety of used books. A duffel bag filled with folded, newly washed clothing rested in one corner.
"Here..." He led her to the carpeted floor of the living area, folding up to sit on the floor with his legs stretched in front of him. He gestured, motioning for her to sit before him. "After what... just happened, we need to talk about you and me and... what comes after this." He was shy, stuttering lightly. This was the first time he had ever had a conversation like this, and the innocent charm the girl naturally cast was nearly overwhelming him. "I want to know more about you, and you can ask anything you want about me..."
Arion looked around the room and smiled. After the ornate place she used to live in, it was refreshing to get some simplicity. Well, at least he knew how to fold his own clothes. She stepped after him on the carpet and then sat before him and looked deep into his eyes as he spoke. She was relativly new to all this but knew one thing: she wanted to stay with him.
"I will...but..." she said, looking up at him, "I also want you to know everything about me. I don't care what you would ask of me. I'll do anything you want, I'll cook, clean and sleep on the floor if you want but...now that I know you, I don't want to un-know you."
She didn't even know if that was a word but it was true. Especilly with what she had done in her past, she didn't want to scare him off. It seemed the tables had turned and that now she was afraid of him leaving.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)"I also want you to know everything about me. I don't care what you would ask of me. I'll do anything you want, I'll cook, clean and sleep on the floor if you want but...now that I know you, I don't want to un-know you."
She continued to surprise him, the odd mixture of innocence and insistence tickling his senses. However, it was a bit much. He made a note of it; if that's what she really wanted once he knew her better, maybe that's how things would end up, but for now...
"Please, stop. If something is going to happen between us, we're both going to be involved in it. Don't talk like you're my servant. You can stay here, or anywhere else, that's fine with me. If you want to stay in this room we'd be roomates and both share in the responsibilities." He leaned forward to take her hands in his own. "And if we're going to have a relationship, we'll be equal in that too." He paused for a moment, looking her in the eye as his fingertips ran across her hands, letting the words sink in.
"Now... I'm curious... What were things like for you back in Scotland? Why do you always keep that small mirror on you? And..." he flushed. "Was that your first kiss?"
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
She sighed when she heard him, so sure she may have just ruined everything. A million thoughts buzzed through her mind, but all were silenced when he took her hands gently. As he began to talk, she smiled softly.
"Yes...I want to stay with you...if you don't mind," she said softly, almost sounding like she wondered if he really wanted her. She told herself not to be silly, this was no time for doubt and then, speak of the devil:
"What were things like for you back in Scotland? Why do you always keep that small mirror on you? And..." he flushed. "Was that your first kiss?"
She blinked softly. He had asked...and now she would have to tell him. No, not 'have', she wanted to tell him. With this, she thought, then maybe her inner demons would silence for a while.
She looked down as memories flooded in and she let them, for the first time in a long time, take hold of her. She shut her eyes for a moment and looked down.
"Well...you see..." she said before she sighed, this was going to be very painful. But Art deserved to know the truth.
"Ever since the time of the Druids, my family has existed, and prospered greatly. Our ancestors were taught magic that few these days even have the imaginations to dream of. We held that power for centuries, until the time of the Romans. When they came to Britain, they conqured everything in their path, slaying Druids by the tribe. My family had seen enough of this, so they pulled their powers together and pushed the Romans back from Scotland. After that, my family lost alot of it's magic and they were forced underground.
Ever since then there has been a barrier, an unspoken hatred for any who weren't like us. Slowly and surely, the clans began to forget about our existence and our ancestors were pleased. So there we stayed, locked away forever in Aberdeenshire...the Forgotten Clan. We survived by inter marrying, which often led to bitterness and cruelty. Soon, there were even wars between siblings...wars that ended in death. Darkness...ruin...everything...it seemed like we weren't even a Clan anymore, but a miniature version of the war between the Romans and our ancestors...we became what we hated and we all knew it. There were so many who tried to revolutionize us...but they were always killed effortlessly and publically.
Into this world I was born. My parents were Sawyer and Jocelyn, with my mother being the daughter of the Chieftan and my father the son of his right hand man. They were cousins...so the fact that I am the way I am is a miracle in and of itself. My mother was soft, sweet and caring towards my father and me. My father, however, cared little for me and devoted solely on my mother. In fact, the first memory I have is him taking me to see the public execution of a Revolutionary...it was...horrible...all the screams and the blood..." she paused for a moment, lost in the horrid memory. The execution had consisted of the scorching and ripping off of the Revolutionary's skin...until he bled to death from the pain.
"And my father laughed...even now I think of death when I hear that laugh... Well, then, I turned 7 and my mother thought it would be good if I were to be trained in the ancient power that lay in my blood. I was reckless, wanting to prove myself to my parents...so one night, I went into my father's study and found a book. I read from that book and learned a spell that could make me manipulate fire and thought that that, above all else, would make my mother proud and my father love me. So...I preformed the spell. I felt it consume me...even my blood was on fire...it was then I heard my mother's voice. She was running to me...telling me I was dying...the fire was eating up my entire body..." she stopped then to catch her breath, knowing the tears were coming.
"I don't know what happened after that...just...I heard my mother scream...then she whispered in Gaelic...'I love you.' Then, I felt the fire die down and then I heard my father's voice. He screamed too...and run in to kneel by her body. He then screamed at me but I never heard them...I just saw my mother's body and concentrated to the arm I held. I had...I had..." she finally felt the tears fall, "I pulsed the spell into her fraile body...the fire that consumed me...I put into her... I-I...I kill...I killed...I KILLED HER!"
She lost it and just buried her head in her hands when she quoted what her father had said to her. She curled up, forgetting that Art was even there, and cried into her hands.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
He listened to her story, first with interest, then with growing concern. She kept surprising him. With everything she said, he considered the miracle of the delicate, nervous girl who had managed to deal with the things she spoke of and still stay sweet.
As she spoke of her mother, he squeezed her hands, trying to give her silent encouragement. After she stopped, moved behind her. He wrapped her up, legs and arms wrapping around her in a complete embrace, holding her tight. He only hoped that his warmth and presence could offer some comfort for what the girl was suffering. "Arion... you aren't alone." He leaned his head on her shoulder, pressing his cheek to hers.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
She looked up in surprise and found no one there, instantly a thought raced through her mind...had he left as she feared?
Then she felt something warm wrap themselves around her. She looked up and behind to see that he had wrapped his entire body around her's...as if trying to send her his warmth or protect her from her memories.
"...Art..." she whispered. She was in his arms...she was safe. Smiling gently through her tears she leant back into him, making sure her cheek still touched his.
"Thats what he told me...my father did. He never forgave me for it...saying it was really my fault. He never...forgave me..." she said, finding it hard to continue on again.
'Remember where you are...he can't hurt you anymore...' she told herself, taking his hand in hers.
"The clan divided over who believed I was to blame and those who said I was not to be blamed. You see, I was so young...and the penalty was death. Eventually, I was deemed innocent, but my father, who loved my mother more than he ever could love me, blamed me...for all time. After the way he tried to have me killed, he lost his place in the Clan, both in ranking and in morality. Naturally, he blamed it on me too...I guess it was easy...I was so young I didn't-.
He locked me away...up in the second floor of our house. He never came to see me...he acted like I didn't exist...and he loved every moment of it. For hours, I would sit up in my room, alone...looking out into the sky and wandering if my mother would have still loved me if she had been alive...
So this was my world, alone, shameful, forbbiden and cut off from the world. The only two people who were there for me were my Nurse and Aislynn.
Aislynn, you see, was the only trace of magic still left in my family. She is a doppleganger, a guardian of my family that exists only as a spirit...she can however, take physical form in a mirror...which is why I carry one with me wherever I go.
However, I craved contact with humans so, one day, Aislynn led a little orphan boy to my window. We became quick friends, his name was David and I told him everything that had happened to me. He wanted me to run away with him so we could be free together. I really wanted to...I wanted to get away from that place...I wanted to be wanted, I wanted to be...loved.
So a few nights later...we arranged to meet in the glen outside my house. With Aislynn's help, I snuck out and went to the glen. I waited...and I waited...after an hour passed I knew he wasn't coming. Brokenhearted, I returned to the house, only to hear a muffled scream. What happened next...once again...I can't...I don't remember...But I went in and remembered only seeing two bodies in the main room. The larger standing over the smaller, with blood on his hands and blood coming from..." she lost it again and hung her head.
"My father had killed David. Father knew...he found out about my friendship with David and...he killed him... He told me that, after everything I had done, I did not deserve any kind of attention, nor any kind of love. He came at me...with the idea of hammering it in me...and I did the first thing that came to mind. My mother's knife...that's right...my mother's knife... Then he lay dead too...killed by my mother's knife...three people...and I...it's all my fault..." she found no more words again.
At this she turned around and sat on her knees, in between Art's legs, and looked up into her eyes. Her eyes displayed an emotion she had forgotten...the ultamate sorrow, fear and self hatred.
"Art...I have felt how cold a human body could be...I've felt the way a body deflates when the last breath leaves it...I...and I've caused it...Art, I-...I'm a murderer...because of me, my mother, David, and my father are all dead...it's my fault...and I...I'll never forgive myself..."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
This was the last thing he could have possibly be expecting to hear. He met a nice young girl who literally fell into his arms, he brought her to his room... and now, the things she was telling him. The most sordid and intimate details of her past. Death, imprisonment, murder... all of her secrets, all at once, and just because he had asked. There was no way he could have seen this coming, and it would take time to take it all in.
So what. This girl was someone who was in need. He had accepted responsibility for her the minute they had met. The hand of Providence could not have shown him the way of things any more clearly then what was in front of him. He couldn't do anything other then help this girl, in whatever way he could manage.
He thought to himself for a while, trying to understand what she had just told him. Her mother, this doppleganger she mentioned... he briefly wondered if she were insane. He shook it off; no point in thinking things like that. He'd find out soon enough, and given the choice he'd prefer to believe that she was a good person.
He leaned forward and embraced her again as he began to speak. "I don't know what to think about all this... I'm experienced a few of the things you've mentioned. But... what you've told me... noone should experience things like that. What has happened to you is terrible, beyond any excuse. Noone should be treated like that."
"I never knew your mother, of course. But if her daughter is any indication, she was a fine woman." He squeezed her hand. "She told you that she loved you. I know she did, because I can hear it in your voice when you speak about her. The love that she taught you when you were a child. And even though she has passed on, that love isn't gone. From heaven, she loves you still. Despite whatever may have happened, or whatever you have done, that love still binds you together. Nothing will ever change that."
"As for the other things... I don't know what to say. But... I'm not going to be leave you. And if you give me the chance, I might come to love you. But that will take some time, and in the mean time, you'll be safe here with me." He held onto her more tightly, his arms a solid bond around her. "I won't absolve you, it's not my place. But don't forget, the god of all creation forgives all his imperfect children. And that includes me, and you."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Arion sat in the silence, each moment slowly decaying her heart. She knew it...she should never had told him...why did she tell him?! She knew what he would think, he wouldn't want to be with her...she didn't blame him.
When at last he did begin to speak, she listened to all he said and just stopped. She heard what he had to say about her mother and God.
God...it was really funny how she thought of God. She used to blame him for allowing her to go through these things. Still, that was stupid...it wasn't God's fault, not in the least. When he mentioned 'he might come to love' her, she lowered her head. Might? She knew that word...the word she heard for so long.
"Yeah, I...I know," she said softly, "Art...I'm sorry...I shouldn't have-"
She looked up at him. He didn't have to take her in, she knew that simply.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
He kept his hard hold on her. "Don't be. Don't be sorry. People are too seperate, too far away from eachother. I'm glad, I'm glad that you were able to open up like that. All those things you've been carrying around must have weighed so heavily on you. I'm glad that you shared all of that with me, so I can help you bear it all." He pressed his cheek to hers again. "I will help you just as much as I possibly can, because we're both human. You can believe in me."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Arion looked up, thinking. He didn't get rid of her, it was like he really wanted her to stay and she smiled gently. She felt his cheek gently graze hers and she felt a pleasant tingle go down her spine. She gently titled her head to match every contour of his face and looked deeply into his eyes.
"They have been...but I'm so glad I can talk to you about it...you just have no idea..." she whispered, softly smiling.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
"You can talk to me just as much as you like. It helps to share with someone, and you can share anything and everything you like." He pulled back, looking into her eyes again, losing himself in them
He considered. After all the dark and terrible things she had just told him, he should lighten the mood a little. She had said something about a being in a mirror...
"Ah... could you tell me more about this... Aislynn? What is she like? May I see her?" He was lightly curious, smiling, trying to bring a cheerier tone.
She laughed when she heard him ask about Aislynn, grateful for the lighter conversation. She nodded and reached into her pocket and pulled out an ornate, celtic inspired, silver mirror. She held it out and began to whisper in ancient Gaelic.
"Aislynn...in the name of our sacred soul, come forth and show yourself in my name. Sucsess nurishes Hope."
Suddenly, there was a light that illuminated from the mirror and surged throughout the patterns on the mirror. In an instant, a face appeared in the mirror.
Very fair skin covered a pointy yet beautifully mature face. Sharp emerald eyes peered out at Arion and Arthur, somewhat slanted. Her pink lips parted and smiled at the them. Her long auburn curls fell longer than the length of the mirror. She wore a tartan, traditional dress that flowed off her almost like she were a faerie.
"Aislynn, meet Arthur. Arthur, this is my Guardian, Aislynn," Arion said.
Aislynn looked up and muttered something in Gaelic and Arion returned the comment back and then Aislynn just smiled back, obviously liking Arthur now.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Ok, if she was crazy, then so was he, because he saw the spirit appear in the mirror. He didn't quite understand the words she used... they sounded like they fit her accent, but he didn't recognize any Latin structure to them.
As Aislynn came forth and gazed out, Arthur gazed back at her. There were some similarities, but it didn't seem to match Arion exactly. Somehow, he got the feeling of something ancient and mystical about here... a strange mystery indeed.
"Hello, Aislynn. My name is Arthur Wilborn. It is a pleasure to see you. I want... to thank you, for guarding Arion. And I want you to know that she's safe with me."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Aislynn's already narrowed eyes softened when she heard Art's words.
Arion looked down and smiled at Aislynn, a secret pang hitting her heart. It was almost as if she were looking into the eyes of her mother. Aislynn looked back up at Arion and said something softly again in Gaelic to Arion and she then turned and bowed at Art before she vanished.
"I think she likes you," Arion said softly, placing her head on Art's shoulder as she put the mirror away.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
"That's good." He held her lightly. "I didn't quite understand what she said, but I got a good impression from her. What's she like, really? Does she have a good sense of humor?" He stroked her hair lightly. "I've spent a lot of time by myself... it would ahve been nice to have a friendly voice around."
"Also... I'm still curious. Was that, back in the the springs, was that your first kiss?" He blushed as he asked.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
She blushed softly and thought back to the kiss they experienced in the Hot Springs.
"Well..." she said softly before looking up into his eyes, "yes, yes it was."
She blinked and smiled as the memories came back to her. It had been everything she had dreamt it would be...
"Arthur...my sweetest...yes, it was my first kiss. It was something I'd never even thought I would experience. Even for just that...I don't think I could ever repay you. Sure it may have been short...but, it was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
He couldn't help but smile as his mind drifted back to that magical moment. "Yes... that was the most amazing moment of my life, too." He had kissed girls before, stolen moments with fellow urchins out of the streetlights. But this... this had been something completely different for him.
"You don't have to repay me at all. When you're feeling better, we can try it again. This time, I think it will be even better." He held her tighter. "For now, please, feel free to talk, about your family, or... anything at all. You can share everything with me."
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
Arion gently snuggled herself into Art's arms as she heard him speak again. She was so close to him, she could hear the beats of his heart. She memorized and adored each and every one of them. The more relaxed she got, the more she began to wonder if, the earlier morning, she could have ever predicted this...
Was there something she wanted else to tell him...?
Yes, there was...but hopefully...he would never have to know that bit. He didn't need that...and if it arose, then she would meet it head on...and hopefully never have to tell him of this other secret...
She looked up and him and gently shook her head, wanting nothing more than to continue holding that gaze. She felt a soft and warm feeling encompass her. All at once, she was tired...but she never wanted to shut her eyes. She wanted to stay awake and make sure he was still there, so she could continue to count his heart beats.
"I'm ok...now more than ever. Are you tired?" she asked softly, her voice interlacing the feelings she felt for him.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
The day was taking its hold on her, he could tell. All of that anxiety and deep grief had obviously worn at her. Poor girl didn't look she could keep her eyes open any longer. Art had just been feeling it instead of hearing it, and he was very used to late nights, so he didn't feel the same weariness. However, he didn't want to... he couldn't leave this girl's side. Somehow, her eyes had taken him in, and he didn't want to pull away.
"I am a bit tired, after all of that..." He stood, pulling her into his arms, easily moving her onto the bare lower mattress. "How about, for right now, we just rest..." He lay down beside her, still clothed, holding her in a platonic embrace. "You've had a hard day... but you should be able to sleep easier, now that some of that weight has been lifted off of you..." He hummed to her, softly, Brahm's Lullaby to start, then drifting off into random soothing tones.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
She hadn't even needed to speak, and he had known...it was almost like he had read her mind. Haha, no, that was silly. He knew she must have been tired after all the revlations. It almost amazed her...the way she confided in him so much...it was like he was a part of her that she could never lie to.
He lay her down gently, and held her close. He didn't try anything...something she thought he would. As she heard his soft voice hum as if he was trying to caress her soul. She gently snuggled, close to his body, once again she was mesmorized by the fact that he was just breathing.
"Arthur..." she whispered.
She knew what she wanted to say...but knew it was hard for her to say it. Smiling gently to herself she just leaned up and gently kissed his cheek.
Re: The Long Goodnight (Arion/Invite only)
He smiled at her soft kiss, like the fall of a flower petal on his cheek. In many ways this simple embrace was nearly unbearable. He could still remember how she looked, wet and flushed and not hiding herself, being held in his arms as he kissed her. He knew she wouldn't resist, that she'd be eager for the comfort he could so easily offer.
However, he could also see how she would react the next morning. Wondering what had happened, how she could have acted the way she did. He didn't want there to be any doubt or discomfort in her mind. Before anything else, this girl needed to heal.
"Arion... you can sleep easy here. You're safe, right here." He whispered the confident reassurances to her, knowing what she needed to hear more then anything. He wasn't worried about some idiot father a thousand miles away; even if he came here then he'd be easy to deal with. Nothing, he resolved in the quiet resources of his hear, nothing was going to do anything to harm this sweet, quiet girl ever again.
