Away from the craziness (closed)
Hawthorne needed to breathe. Between the new school, new location, new . . . well, everything, she just needed to calm down. If she could just come to grips with a few things, get over her tension . . . but that was a useless thought. She couldn't do it in her room . . . her roommate was a male after all! How could this have happened? She took a deep breath and looked for somewhere to sit down. She kinda felt like she was choking, so when she found a bench she removed her spiked collar from around her neck and placed it beside her, massaging her neck for a moment before leaning back against the bench. She drifted in her thoughts, back to the nightmare memories of the last male she shared a room, and a bed with. She nervously ran her fingers over the scars on her hands, a bad habit she had picked up recently, and just sat there fiddling, trying to clam herself down. Occasionally the spike's on her wristbands clinked against eachother, but it was the only noise she made.

Re: Away from the craziness (open)
*Long before he could be seen a light Japanese song being whistled could be heard. If the person looked the direct of the whistling they would be able to make out Jun-Bo walking slowly thru the garden on the far end. He was really not in a hurry to get anywhere or do anything this evening. He was trying to take a break from everything and just clear his mind.

His eyes were turned up as he counted stairs as he moved. It was quickly making him forget that anything had ever been wrong. He loved the smell of the garden and the cool wind blowing thru his hair. He was wearing what could be taken to be a baby blue tux shirt and pants, but it was just silk cloths that he felt the urge to wear. *

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

Hawthorne paused her figeting and cocked an ear to the wind. There were strains of an oddly enchanting melody drifting in her direction. The strains of music were oddly soothing, easing worries from her mind. Slowly she sat up straighter on the bench, trying to catch a glimpse of the unseen whistler.

In the distance she could barely make out a boy in blue clothing of a sort, the exact style hard to make out just yet. Reflexively Hawthorne reached for her spiked collar and put it on. She was nowhere near comfortable enough to trust those around her yet. So, she would meet this new face encased in the armour she was used. After all, it was through personally experience that she had learned to keep her wrists and neck protected by those around her, especially when they were usually bigger and stronger than her.

*As he contuined to move along the garden his song contuined to be whistled. It did not take long before he could make out the girl who looked towards him. He changed his course to one where he was heading towards the lass.

Raising his left hand he waved once to her and stopped his apporach roughly 10 feet from her. His song came to an end and he bowed lightly to her.*

"Greetings fair one. How are you on this soothing and silent night?"

*He strightened and gazed towards her eyes, trying to make out the colors. He looked around the way she held her self and acting around him.*

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

The strange boy had come right towards her, it was just her luck. In fact, he was now close enough to see the hesitation in Hawthorne's grey eyes. It wasn't his fault really, she had been a terrified little girl for so long, and he was a very big male, the one thing that frightened her more than anything else.

Then he spoke.

Unexpectedly tears came to Hawthorne's eyes. She offered a weak half smile to the whistler, as she dashed the tell-tale water from her eyes. Had he really called her fair one? In that one sentence he had made her feel more attractive than she had ever felt in her entire life. Much of the hesitation and nervous tension relaxed out of her body, though there was still a hint of mistrust in her eyes. Even such a kindness as he had offered her couldn't erase years of bad experience.

"I - I've been better I suppose. The garden is helping I think."

*He took note of the water in her eyes and the way she was acting. With a soft smile he tilted his head as if to mimick an owl. He then strightened his head and bowed at the waist with his soft smile*

"Pardon my manners. I am Jun-Bo Tsuen. It is an honor to meet one as fair as you."

*As he strightened he smiles warmly towards her and took a relaxed stance, one that would show is was at ease and open to attack. It was the best way he had to show he meant no harm.*

"Is something bothering you, that I might be able to fix or mend?"

*His inquiring was one of honesty and was softly spoken as to keep it between the two of them.*

She smiled at Jun-Bo's courtly manners. He was very good at making her feel at ease, though she was still too nervous to let her gaurd down completely.

"It's nothing really. I'm just being weak and childish. I don't usually cry for no reason."

She didn't want anyone at her new school thinking she was in any way weak. She had worked so long and hard for her tough image, and she was going to cling to it with every atom of her soul. Still, the gentle nature of his inquiries touched Hawthorne on a deeper level.

"I just don't know if I'm going to be able to handle this school away from home thing. I've never been so far away, and I don't really know anyone here . . ."

*He grinned as she called her acts weak and childish. His eyes drifted up alogn with his face tell he looked to the sky. At this time the sky was clear and he could see nearly anything.*

"It is far from weak and childish to cry. Even the old man that has lived thru a dozen wars will cry when something he cares about is in danger or he thinks has been wronged."

*His face and eyes tilted back down to her and he smiled softly. His eyes looked like they knew the pain he spoke of, but he was still strong. As she spoke of knowing anyone he grinned and his hand came up and brushed his hair back.*

"Well by my way of thinking, you now know at least one person. I think you will be am to handle it. You know why I think this? Because you seem a strong lass, who just needs some one to support you and listen when you need it."

*He kneeled down in front of her so that way he was looking slightly up at her. It was always less intimedating to be biggie or seem bigger then the person you spoke with.*

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

Hawthorne stepped back for a moment when Jun-Bo knelt in front of her, she was startled by his actions, but, after a seconds consideration, realized that it definitely made her feel more comfortable. She looked over her shoulder, as if searching for something in the sky above her.

"I've never had anyone to just listen to me, It's always just been me against the entire world. No one has ever helped. I had to be strong. Every moment I had to be the toughest I could be just to get through each day. I don't think I'd know how to let someone else support me."

The boy in front of her was like no one she had ever encountered before. She stepped foreward and looked into his eyes, as if seeking something in the depths of his soul, as if she was trying to find a reason to place her trust in him.

*As she looked over her shoulder he had a soft smile on his face by the time she looked back. He wondered calmly to him self what she thought of him. They was so many different things that she could be thinking, he decided he would just let things flow*

"It is not hard to learn to trust someone, if the person you are learning to trust is honest and true in their acts towards you."

*As she spoke he shifted his body only slightly so he could look her in the eyes more strightly. He let her stare deep into his eyes. He looked back into her eyes as deep as she was into his. He looked for how she was taking his words and actions. He was trying to make her comfortable around him.*

"So whats on your mind?"

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

Hawthorne definitely wanted someone to cling to in this big, scary place she had come to. Someone she could trust implicitly, and Jun-bo was so calm . . . She had never before met someone with such an aura of peace surrounding them. Besides, he had such marvelous eyes.

"There are very few people out there that are honest and true. So many seem to be at the start, and then prove to be otherwise as you learn more about them."

It was as if he was weaving a spell around her with his words and actions, putting her at ease. The last time she had been so close to anyone, and had been this comfortable, Lily had been alive.

"I was just thinking of the past. Something I should really let go of. You can't get it back."

*As she spoke he sat down on the ground and crossed his legs with a grin. He tilted his to the right slightly and listened.*

"Well finding some one truthfully and honest is half the fun of meeting some one new. Learning of those around you, help you to grow."

*When she started to speak of the past he locked eyes with her and listened closely. He knew that this was improtant part of her past.*

"I learned in my time, that you never truely let go or forget the past. You just come to terms with it, knowing that it happened and that it was meant to happen. That it got you to where you are this day.

I have lived thru several horrible things and yet, I can be honestly happy because I like who I am and where I am in life. Everything that happened in the past made me, me today."

*He hoped it did not sound like he was preaching. He was not trying to, but figured it might be taken the wrong way.*

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

Hawthorne sighed, but listened intently to what Jun-Bo was saying. He made a lot of sense, even if he spoke of things she had never truly considered. Though she was not as content with herself as he seemed to be, she could honestly appreciate his point of view. Especially since he was so careful to make eye contact, and to listen to what she had to say.

In a show of trust unusual for Hawthorne she sat down beside the boy as he spoke. She left a few inches of space between them, but she was no longer on the brink of running away.

"A lot of what happened in my past made me grow up a lot faster than the kids around me, until I just stopped spending time with them. I couldn't handle the whole juvenile situation. Even here I feel more like an adult than a lot of the people I've encountered."

Except you . . .

She shook the thought out of her head. She wanted to make friends, and that was no way to do it . . .

*He leans to his right resting on his hand as she sat down. He contuined to keep eye contact as she moved. He held a warm smile since she was trusting him enough to sit next to him*

"Everyone has to deal with the hardships in their own way. Some grow up faster, so seem to get stuck in the childhood stage as if to denign the fact that there is more then fun in life. As such we tend to gravity towards the ones that match our selves most closely."

*He raised an eyebrow as shook her head to get the idea out of it. He was not sure why she shook it, but figured it was either she agreed or was in disagreement with something. Either way he figured he would find out.*

"I act more mature then most, mainly because I have been like this as long as i can remember. I figure it has keep me alive and allowed me to have a bit of fun and yet still be adult enough when I do wrong that it works for me. But anyways, what do you do when you seek enjoyment in life?"

*He smiled as he waited for her to answer. He seemed drawen to her eyes since she liked to keep eye contact unlike most people.*

Hawthorne smiled at Jun-Bo, it was so easy to look at him, to sink into the depths he offered in his eyes. Very few people allowed you so much access to their soul when they spoke with you, and Hawthorne appreciated more than she could ever trust herself to say.

His next question surprised her, and she tilted her head to the side, her lips forming a little "o" in her startlement. ((This is now a word!))

"I don't know, I've never really searched for fun. I've never really had time for it."

She thought for another moment.

"I suppose when I seek enjoyment I go out and get a piercing." She indicated the various shrapnel decorating her face at lip, nose, eyebrow, etc. "I find the pain shakes me back to reality, causes me to cease escaping into a juvenile state of mind and deal with life as it comes."

Now he'd think she was a freak for sure, and probably get up and leave. Most people did if she dared reveal the real reason behind her piercings.

*Raises an eyebrow he laughed lightly. He knew what she meant. He was the one that practiced the form of steel skin technic which meant he allowed him self to be beaten againest trees and rocks and hit him self to make himself stronger. So he understood far better then she would know at this time at least.*

"You should just practice martial artist, it does less preament damage to the skin and yet gives you the same effect. If you would like I can teach you."

*He was being honest in the fact that he would teach her if she wanted it. He was use to teaching those that wished to learn to defend them selves or wanted to be able to protect those around them.*

"But in all honesty we all have to find our own way to come back to reality and our own ways to get away from reality. I tend to use my martial artists for both. Because it allows me to get away from everything and clear my mind, and yet when I come back from it, I tend to be ready to deal with the probelms because I can think more clearly."

*Ge shifts so as to face her more stright on and smiles as he mentaly started to count the number of lines and spots in her right eye.*

Hawthorne couldn't believe what she was hearing. No one had ever offered to teach her anything before. Everything she knew she had taught herself.

"I . . . I would really like it if you'd each me . . ."

She caught herself before she started gushing or something equally disgusting. She wasn't going to tell this guy that it was the nicest thing anyone had ever offered to do for her, whether it was or not. It wasn't her. It just wasn't her . . .

"I don't think I ever deal with the things I go to the piercing salon to escape. I just tuck them away in boxes within my mind, sealed by the self-inflicted pain. Then they are safe, and they can't hurt me anymore."

She shifted her weight so she was leaning a little closer to Jun-Bo.

"Pain sets you free . . ."

*He grinned as she stuttered only slightly in excepting his offer. He nodded and tiled his head as she cut her self short. He wondered lightly if she was so unuse to people giving her attention and being nice that she was lost in how she was to act.*

"Then we only have to set the time in which you wish to be taught and we can start. Then we have to decide what style you wish to learn."

*When she explains why she goes to piercing salon he purses his lips as if in thought, though he contuines to look at her. When she finishes he raises an eyebrow and chuckles lightly.*

"Well then maybe I can help you with two things then. Maybe I will teach you have to deal with the small things so you do not get overwelled."

*He smiles as she leans a little closer. He was not sure what she was doing, but he was comfortable and did not mind how close she was. Though his mind did run thru the possiblities of what she was doing.*

"Pain does set your mind stright and clear."

Re: Away from the craziness (open)

She couldn't believe this was actually going to happen. He wasn't only talking about doing something for her, but he actually wanted to make arrangements for it. She was getting a warm and fuzzy feeling inside that she just didn't recognize.

"I get to pick a style, you know more than one well enough to teach someone?"

Gichi-manidoo this man was amazing. What strange twist of fate had steered him onto her path?

"I've never really felt overwhelmed I don't think. Don't you have to face a problem to be overwhelmed by it? Isn't it just better to bury it in pain?"

Hawthorne paused and settled back on her haunches. She had to put some distance between herself and Jun-Bo. If she didn't, she might do something horrible and impulsive, like kiss him. It was definitely his eyes. There was just something about them, and the constant eye contact he made, that caused her to feel like she was drowning.

*As she asked him about the styles and knowing them well enough to teach her them, he nodded and smiled as she sat back on her feet. He was getting curious about what she was thinking as she seemed to want to move in closer and yet was trying to put a little distance between them.*

"I do know quite a few well enough to teach. We just have to decide which one fits your style the most."

*He figured that she was alot like he use to be. Also like several other he knew. He smiled and reached up ruffling his hair with a smirk. He was enjoying his talk with her, because she seemed to have so much to talk about and so much to teach and learn. He was honestly looking forward to training her.*

"The only thing that is wrong about burying it in pain is you do it so much you forget how to feel love and the good things. That and if it gets to much, some times you break your self. It is better to deal with things one at a time. So the pain is over a long period of time."

*He did not break the eye contact. It was how he liked to talk. He enjoyed being able to see what some one was feeling in their eyes. He could tell that she was a little off from her norm.*

Entering the garden at a comfortable pace, Merciah is simply passing through. He heads towards a place that he makes his way to regularly. He moves to enter the small section of the garden that has become a personal sanctuary for himself. He can see and her Jun-bo and the other girl much sooner then either might notice him, though he isn't trying to be unseen.

While traveling through the garden, he is simply just another person. As they aren't the only ones in the garden, and he makes his passage through it as he walks towards the corner he has cultivated into a work of art.

If either of the two see him he nods politely in acknowledgement that they are there, but he doesn't stop unless one of the two stop him. As he is simply walking from one point to another.
