Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
Hawthorne wasn't quite sure why she was coming to the gym, but she wanted Jun-Bo to be proud of her. Especially after that incident in the library . . . if he ever found out about that, he'd be so disappointed in her. She couldn't allow that. So here she was, all on her own, here on her own power, and totally lost.
She hadn't known what to wear here, not that there was much choice in her wardrobe, so she had settled for pulling her hair up into a bun, to keep it out of the way. She wore the Cannibal Corpse concert tee, and she had even sacrificed her second pair of jeans, cutting them into shorts, so that she would have something resembling what she thought was proper gym attire. She knew that eventually she'd have to invest in some proper clothes though . . . just not yet.
She bent down and tied her banged up old sneakers tighter, and then moved over to the nearest piece of equipment. It had a lot of instructions, so she knew she shouldn't start with that. Then she saw a few exercise bikes, and smiled. That she could figure out, no problem. She hoped on and started peddling, intent on getting into shape.
Already on one of the exercise bikes was Ryoko. She had been here for a few hours. She stopped sparing with her clone twenty minutes ago because she feared it would get hurt and ultimately, hurt her when they fused back together. But she was still energetic, so she decided to hop on an exercise bike to keep working out. Ever since her training session with Jun-Bo, she'd been returning to the gym more often. That session helped Ryoko realize how rusty she was.
Wearing her usual gym attire, a red tank top to match her eyes and black tracksuit pants, Ryoko took her hands off the handlebars to drink some water. Her legs were pumping fast. Ryoko was always faster than the average girl, it was just how she was. She was also pushing herself, so despite how much her legs would hurt, she would still keep going.
It was about this time that an unfamiliar face came over to the bikes. Ryoko has seen her enter, and was watching her slightly, noticing that she didn't seem to know where she was. Ryoko looked over at her. " Hey. You don't come around the gym often, do you?" She asked, smiling.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
Hawthorne hadn't really noticed that there was anyone else on any of the bikes, but then again, her head was still a little fuzzy so she wasn't that observant. She had kinda been hoping that she didn't look as lost as she felt, fat chance for that though, she guessed.
She turned to look at the girl who had spoken, and immediately regretted not shopping for new gym clothes. She looked so put together, so cool. Hawthorne looked . . . well, quite frankly, she looked like a trailer park reject, all piercings and tatty clothes. Besides, the girl was peddling like a maniac, and the normal effort Hawthorne was putting into it was already making her a little short of breath.
Still, if they were going to be friendly, so was she. After all, she wasn't going to make friends here if she ignored everyone who was prettier and better dressed than she was. She was definitely going shopping before school started though, enough was enough.
"It's my first time actually in a gym, if I didn't make that completely obvious." She panted a bit, still peddling, trying a little harder now because of the rate that the red-eyed girl was going. "I was out running with my friend Jun-Bo earlier, and I realized how out of shape I was . . ."
She sighed. This was not going to be easy, nor was it going to be pretty.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"It's my first time actually in a gym, if I didn't make that completely obvious."..."I was out running with my friend Jun-Bo earlier, and I realized how out of shape I was . . ."
Ryoko nodded as she listened to the girl talk. When she mentioned Jun's name, she looked back up at the girl. " Ah, so you know Jun as well?" She asked. She looked over and studied the girl. Ryoko was never one to comment on how another looked. But she did notice that the girl seemed to be pushing herself, more so now that Ryoko had spoken to her.
" Hey, chill out. It's best not to totally push yourself on your first time at the gym." She commented, with a smile. When she was fighting Jun the other day, she experienced that first hand. Her clone got so wiped that when they fused back together Ryoko thought she was going to pass out. " My name is Ryoko Taylor, by the way." She added.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
Hawthorne nodded, acknowledging the other girl's inquiry about Jun-Bo.
"Yeah, I met him recently. He's really nice. He's gonna help me get into something resembling good shape. I really need a hand with that. Are you two friends?"
Hawthorne slowed her peddling some, realizing how silly she must seem, competing with someone who obviously spent a lot of time at the gym. She had to stop comparing herself to everyone, and just enjoy herself, that was the only way she'd get fit.
"My name's Hawthorne Johnstone. Pleased to meet you, Ryoko."
She panted a bit, but she was enjoying the work out. It had been so long since she had had this much fun while taking care of her own body. Soon she'd be in great shape, then she could really have fun with Jun-Bo. That was an exciting thought, and she let her mind drift to the tall boy for a moment, before coming back to the here and now.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"Yeah, I met him recently. He's really nice. He's gonna help me get into something resembling good shape. I really need a hand with that. Are you two friends?"
" Yeah, we're pretty good friends, considering we met a few days ago. We spent the day together the other day, it was pretty cool. He's fun to be around." Ryoko replied, in a happy voice. She liked spending time with Jun. But she was not to be mistaken, she didn't like him that way. They saw each other as good friends, and she was happy with that. Right now, the furtherest thing in her mind was a relationship.
"My name's Hawthorne Johnstone. Pleased to meet you, Ryoko."
Ryoko nodded at Hawthorne and continued training. She didn't seem to slow down her pace at all, even though she looked tired and was sweating a little. She looked over and Hawthorne seemed deep in thought. She gave her a questioning look, but found it a better idea if she didn't pry.
"So . . . do you spend a lot of time in the gym?"
Once again, Ryoko nodded. " Yeah, pretty much. I try to get in here at least once a day. I am sorta out of shape, at least compared to what I used to be." She explained. Looking to herself, a stranger would not think Ryoko was out of shape at the moment. She was quite fit looking, she kept her figure nice and all that. " What's your reason for coming to the gym Hawthorne?" Ryoko asked.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " Yeah, pretty much. I try to get in here at least once a day. I am sorta out of shape, at least compared to what I used to be."
Was the girl insane?!?!?! She had the kinda body Hawthorne would have died to get at this moment, especially when faced witht he reality of yet another one of Jun-Bo's tiny, perfect lady friends. How was she ever gonna compete for his attention? She was surprised he had noticed her at all amidst all the ddelicate-looking flowers of Manga High.
"What's your reason for coming to the gym, Hawthorne?"
Once again she cast Ryoko an incredulous look. Maybe the girl was blind . . . or confused in some way. Just one look at her pudgy body should have been reason enough. She was overweight! Now, the image Hawthorne had in her head of herself was prolly much larger than she actually was, but the fact of the matter remained, she prolly outweighed Ryoko by at least 2 stone.
"I'm in here because I'm fat and I need to lose weight."
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"I'm in here because I'm fat and I need to lose weight."
Ryoko sighed as she continued to rapidly peddle. But in her head she was laughing. " Come on, you're not fat. Don't kid yourself." Ryoko replied. She picked up her towel and wiped the sweat off her face. Then she picked up her water bottle and drank some of it. " However, it is good to be in shape. It means you can do a lot more. I mean look at Jun, he's like, at fit as hell. He can take on anybody. Believe me, I've seen it." She added.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " Come on, you're not fat. Don't kid yourself."
If Hawthorne had a nickel for every time she had heard a small, pretty girl say those words to her, she'd be rich. It seemed that they had no clue as to body types. Though, she also knew she wore her weight well, considering how much it was. She had a handful or two you could grab around the waist, but most of it was at her chest and butt.
" However, it is good to be in shape. It means you can do a lot more. I mean look at Jun, he's like, at fit as hell. He can take on anybody. Believe me, I've seen it."
Hawthorne figured that Jun-Bo must be some kind of legend on campus, since everyone kept telling her how tough he was. Still, every reassurance about how now one could hurt him made her feel better about the whole situation. He could obviously take care of himself, and he seemed inclined to take care of those he allowed into his circle. Still, even though he had said he wouldn't let anyone hurt her, she wasn't sure. He seemed kinda dismissive when they left one another last, and she was afraid that he didn't really have any feelings for her. It wouldn't surprise her, since it wouldn't be the first time.
Oh well.
"Well, he is very strong. He picked me up when we were playing in the garden. It was so scary! I'm not used to being picked up, I kinda liked it though. He ran me into the ground too, I can't remember ever having that much fun before then."
She giggled conspiratorily. If Ryoko was just a friend of Jun's, then she would prolly appreciate the whole Jun-the-crazy-workout-freak annecdote. To Hawthorne, it was one of his more endearing traits.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"Well, he is very strong. He picked me up when we were playing in the garden. It was so scary! I'm not used to being picked up, I kinda liked it though. He ran me into the ground too, I can't remember ever having that much fun before then."
Ryoko looked to her. She felt the exact same way when Jun picked her up. It was nothing she'd ever done. The way he picked her up was something she'd never experienced before, but still, it was a lot of fun, even with the people staring at them. " Yeah, he likes to pick people up." Ryoko replied. She smiled and laughed a little to herself before looking back to Hawthorne. " Actually, the other day we were in the streets and he picked me up like a little kid when we were walking through a crowd of people. They kept staring at us. It was so fun!" She added.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " Actually, the other day we were in the streets and he picked me up like a little kid when we were walking through a crowd of people. They kept staring at us. It was so fun!"
Well, at least she wasn't the only one he was hauling around like a living freeweight, that could get embarassing really fast. She was glad he hadn't carried her around like he had this Ryoko girl, because that would have been more than she could bear.
Everything she heard about Jun-Bo made her like the guy all the more. He made good friends, who really cared about him, and he wasn't afraid to have fun in public. In fact, he didn't seem to be afraid to have fun at his own expense, which was quite unnatural in Hawthorne's experience of guys.
"That sounds like it was really fun. We had lunch together earlier." She thought for a moment. "You should have seen the look on his face when I paid!" She liked this, she was really bonding with another girl, and she had Jun-Bo to thank for it. "He's such a nice guy, you rarely meet those anymore."
"He's such a nice guy, you rarely meet those anymore."
Ryoko could just imagine his face in her mind. He seemed like the kinda guy who would pay for someone, so she could just see it, it made her laugh a little. When she made the comment about the rarity of nice guys, Ryoko just nodded. She knew a fair few of those. " Most of the guys I've met around here are nice, so far anyway." Ryoko commented, as she thought back to all the ones she had met.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " Most of the guys I've met around here are nice, so far anyway."
Hawthorne thought about that for a minute. It was nice to know there were a few more nice guys out there, in fact, she'd met some of them. But none of them were Jun-Bo. Her face got all dreamy again, but she quickly whiped the look away. She didn't want to get a reputation for being a mooncalf. Besides, if she wanted to make friends, she should prolly focus less on Jun-Bo, and more on the person she was talking to.
"Just nice guys, eh?" she chuckled a bit. "Have you been here for a long time? Or just a short while?"
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"Have you been here for a long time? Or just a short while?"
Ryoko shook her head. " No, just a short time. I started a week or two ago. What about you?" She asked. Ryoko had noticed before that Hawthorne had a dreamy look in her eyes. She picked up on small things like that. She wondered why, and realized that they were just talking about Jun, so this girl might like him. It brought a small smile to her face, mainly because she figured it out. Though Ryoko was curious about it, she didn't bother to ask. She did only just meet this girl, after all.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " No, just a short time. I started a week or two ago. What about you?"
Hawthorne was glad that the girl had picked up on the change of subject. Now she could get around to being friendly and getting to know another female at this place. Guys were all well and good, but in the books it was your woman-friends who really helped you out. Hawthorne wanted that, but she didn't want to risk it by being to eager either.
"Oh, I've only been here for a few days. I missed the first day of school." She chuckled. "I got here just as the last classes of the first day got out, but I can't wait for them to actually start up!"
She didn't think she should tell this girl that she'd never been to school before, at least not yet. She had been getting mixed responses to that, and she wasn't sure that they had all been positive.
"So, only been here a few weeks and you look like you belong in this gym, eh?" She sighed, a little jealous of the ability. "I might have to ask you how to use some of the equipment, because I'm honestly lost in here, I could use a friendly face to guide me, unless of course you're busy."
The girl had obviously been in here for awhile already, and Hawthorne didn't want to pressure her to stay if she was done.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"I got here just as the last classes of the first day got out, but I can't wait for them to actually start up!"
Ryoko laughed at what she said. From what she'd known, a fair few people had missed the first class. " I missed the first day too. I didn't even know it was on till someone told me." She replied. Perhaps that was something she should know more about, what classes she had. Ryoko had been too busy trying to go everywhere in and out of the school to see when class was.
"So, only been here a few weeks and you look like you belong in this gym, eh?"
" Yeah I guess you could say that. I've been training all my life. It's what my dad wanted me to do. It sometimes sucked, but it has it's perks." she replied. Ryoko was trying to get a read on this girl's personality. She seemed to be really nice, even though her appearance would tell a person otherwise.
"I might have to ask you how to use some of the equipment, because I'm honestly lost in here, I could use a friendly face to guide me, unless of course you're busy."
Ryoko nodded. " Sure I can help you out with the basic stuff. To be honest, I don't even know how some of this stuff works." She explained. When she trained with her dad, it was mostly sparing matches. She sometimes did weights but not that often. A smile came on Ryoko's face when she realized something. Hawthorne was the first girl she'd spoken to who she actually liked. In all honestly, Ryoko had only talked to two girls here so far, and one was a total b!tch. It was good to see someone nice around here.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN)) " I missed the first day too. I didn't even know it was on till someone told me."
Hawthorne chuckled along with Ryoko. It was funny to think that even people who had already been settled around here hadn't made it to the first day of class. As far as she knew, through all the books and movies and things, first day was supposed to be some big, exciting to-do.
" Yeah I guess you could say that. I've been training all my life. It's what my dad wanted me to do. It sometimes sucked, but it has it's perks."
Hawthorne's eyes went wide. She couldn't immagine spending that much time training. She could definitely see the perks though. Ryoko looked great. Hawthorne would love to look even half that good.
[/i]" Sure I can help you out with the basic stuff. To be honest, I don't even know how some of this stuff works." [/i]
Hawthorne laughed at that.
"No kidding, eh? The bloody stuff is so hi-tech. I feel like saying 'Welcome to Mutant High'."
She grinned, hoping the girl would get the reference. Maybe, if they liked the same kinda stuff, they could really hit it off. Damn, but she needed a friend.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))"No kidding, eh? The bloody stuff is so hi-tech. I feel like saying 'Welcome to Mutant High'."
Ryoko laughed at what she said. She was pretty sure she understood, but in case she was wrong, she just didn't say anything on the subject. " With the stuff here it all depends on what you want to do to yourself." Ryoko began. She pointed to the weights machines. " Thats mainly for upper body strength, muscles and all that." She explained.
She brought her hand back down to the bike and tapped the palm of her hand on the handle twice. " But if you're just looking to get into shape in general, a bike like this one does the trick, provided your serious about it. And if you can't get to a gym then you might want to just run around, it's works too." Ryoko explained, smiling.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
Hawthorne listened intently as Ryoko explained about all the equipment. It seemed pretty straight forward, and she was glad that she had, accidently made the right choice about what equipment to use. Still, the gym was pretty daunting, at least from her point of view.
"Well, I'm glad I know how to use the thing that's gonna help me with the "in general" bit . . . since that's my main concern." She rolled her eyes. "And I'm certainly getting the running part in . . . it seems to be all Jun-Bo does."
She went all dreamy eyed again for a second, but shook herself out of it quickly. She had to stop that! It was bordering on obsession!
"So, Ryoko . . ." Must change subject . . . "What do you do for fun . . . besides this?"
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
Ryoko noticed that she went all dreamy again once she mentioned Jun's name. It made her smile a little. She was sure now that Hawthorne liked Jun. But Jun told me he liked that Maaz girl... But he did say that he was still looking. She thought. She was shaken from her thoughts When Hawthorne asked her a question.
"What do you do for fun . . . besides this?"
" Well when I'm not at the gym and doing all that, I usually like to hang out with my friends. Either that or play video games. I love video games." Ryoko explained. It was the only real thing she could do as a kid was play video games because her father never knew that she did. That was one of the reasons why she loved them so much.
I changed the way my character looks, again. This is the third time, and hopefully the last.
Re: Foray Into the Unfamiliar . . . ((OPEN))
So Ryoko liked video games, that was cool. Hawthorne could remember watching Drewe play those for hours on end. It seemed to be the only thing that calmed him down. Still, she couldn't remember ever actually playing one herself.
"Cool? Video games? Which ones? Do you like the really scary ones? My ex used to play this game Fatal Frame . . . it used to sacre the bejeesus out of me . . . "
She giggled. It was the scariest game she'd ever seen. Way scarier than every movie, because you could actually feel like it was you that everything was happening to, since you were in control of the little people on the screen. She used to cling to her ex in nervous anticipation as he wandered through horrific, haunted scene after scene. It was prolly the most fun she had had the entire time she dated him.
