Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

The Quest for Murasame (Open; only four other players)
(OOC: I've tried to do this quest twice already, and had people drop out each time. I'm gonna try a third now, since my character really needs this weapon for upcoming storyline events. Note that I am RPing the first two attempts out of existance, and this is Flojo's first time planning the trip... In addition, do not join this thread unless you want to be in a pretty long RP thread...)
"Finally..." Flojo said to himself as he reached up onto the shelf for the book, "this is it."
Flojo was in the library, and had been there the whole day, doing research on ki manipulation methods he could use to make himself stronger. A lot stronger. Even if he found Clay, he could never beat him as he was now.
After a few hours of research, Flojo had stumbled upon an interesting book about Japanese Legends. In it, there were descriptions of various Japanese ghosts, mystical items, great warriors, and the like. Normally, he wouldn't care about a bunch of old stories, but one tale in it caught his eye: The Legend of Murasame.
Supposedly, Murasame was a Japanese swordsmith in fuedal Japan. He was a student of Masamune, who is considered the best swordmaker of all of Japanese history. Anyway, Murasame made a lot of swords, as any swordmaker would. However, he made one sword that was different from the others. A katana that was said to have powerful properties, including extreme sharpness and a boost in power.
There were only two catches: the first was that it was said that the sword had been lost in a Chinese forest, apparently with a load of other ancient treasure. The second was that only a direct descendant of Murasame could remove said sword from its resting place.
This intrigued Flojo for very obvious reasons. He could possibly find the sword (assuming it actually existed). A sword like that should have lots of ki, and therefore would stick out from the surrounding environment. The only thing he needed was to be a descendant of Murasame. Being that his last name was such, he started looking through all possible ancestry records, to see if he could find a link between himself and Murasame. And this book would hold the answer.
Flojo flipped through the pages and found the answer he was looking for. It turns out that Murasame's great-grandson was his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.
Now, all I have to do is find the sword, assuming it exists, Flojo thought, but even if it doesn't, just the possibility of such power is way too much to give up.
Flojo left all the books on the table and dashed over to the computer to look for airplane tickets to China on the Internet.
Re: The Quest for Murasame (Open; only four other players)
Kobita sat patiently in his seat waiting. One of his favorite past times was playing pranks on the librarian and this time she didn't see him enter. It was all too perfect. The boy stood still, watching the clock, waiting for his trap to go off.
The time stuck and a cloud of white exploded from the library desk. Flour, with the aid of an alarm clock and sound amplification, rocketed from the drawers and smacked the librarian in the face. Once she got over the initial shock, she could tell who it was. Her eyes quickly scanned the library as she saw Kobita, beaming.
She quickly rose to her feet, grabbed three books, and sprinted at Kobita. The boy quickly scrambled out of his seat and made his way down the aisle.
The boy ducked under a large hardback book that graved his hair as it passed. She's probably kill him this time if she got the chance. The boy pushed off a little harder and rotated as another book blew past his ear. Kobita was now running backwards intune with the sprinting librarian.
The old lady reared back, she was surprisingly fast and strong for a woman of her years, and swung her arm forward. The book was once more aimed for his head, but this suited the boy just fine.
Kobita planted his feet and caught the book, waiting for the librarian to get closer. Her arm stretched back, in an attempt to slap him across the face. The boy dropped down as the open palm passed over his head. Whilst pivoting himself around the librarian, the boy slid the book under her foot. Kobita landed on his outstretched shoulder, his fingers pressed together near the book.
The fingers snapped and the book went sliding down the aisle, carrying the librarian with it. The boy beamed widely as the librarian flew away. Unless she had gotten less durable in the last few days, she wouldn't break something. He'd done things much more painful before.
The boy hopped back up to his feet as he strolled back through the library. He then noticed Flojo on a computer, looking up airplanes and what not. Kobita walked up behind him, looking over his shoulder.
Kobita paused for a few minutes as he thought of what it was. He had only seen an airplane once before and he didn't handle anything with it. It took him a few minutes to piece together that he was leaving. "You're not going away are ya? The tournaments coming up soon...you're supposed to be there and all."

"Ah, how interesting!"
Amber was reading, tumbing through the pages of the books left beind by Flojo. If it was one of many things that she loved, it was legends and myths from anywhere in the world. The idea that there could be such a legendary sword somewhere in China, it woud warrent one hell of an adventure; if it was true that is.
The winged girl looked over her shoulder, hearing familiar voices behind her. One was Kobita, the other was less familiar. It took a moment before she realized that the young man was another student of Tai Chi (a different school), the only other one she had met in the school at least. She smiled in their direction and continued reading the legend.
Re: The Quest for Murasame (Open; only four other players)
(OOC: I am RPing the trip to take place two weeks before the tournament, just to keep things from colliding and seeming illogical.)
"I'm going to China. I have to retrieve some treasures. It'll only take a few days; I'll be back in plenty of time for the tournament," Flojo replied, reviewing a list of flight offerings on Orbitz, then clicking one for more information, "and a lot richer, too. That fifty-thousand dollar prize isn't gonna pay for itself."
There. A ready-made explanation for the source of the prize money. He wouldn't have been surprised if there'd been some speculation on the source of his and Ren's money already, especially with Ren driving around in a brand-new custom Ferrarri.

Re: The Quest for Murasame (Open; only four other players)
Alexander sat while the others spoke, reading about the unlucky number of thirteen. The book was well written, and engaging over the myht of numbers. Like most superstitions, the basis that thirteen was an unlucky was actually a recent thought, and any powers it held were simply irrational. Most of the mythology behind the number was embellished or made up, in order to better place the fear of the myth. The whole basis that a number could provide luck to someone was irrational to Alexander, but then he never was one to believe in luck. To him, it was all talent and oppurtunity.
Alexander read while they talked, tuning into various phrases and such. He heard someone mention China, and he looked up. His eyebrow raoised while he heard someone mention a large chunk of money. Curious, he continued to read, though listening to the conversation.

Re: The Quest for Murasame
Amber and V are friends. And friends don't let friends study alone. (Earlier, "You're going to the library? I'll meet you there." )
Which is why Genevieve emerges from the stacks, carrying a tower of books. Her chin rests on its top, and her expression is, as usual, a serious and grave thing:
"Is this your table, Amber? I'm going to drop these." Strength, after all, is not V's forte; the book-tower wobbles precariously.

Amber too had been listening, even though she knew it was rude of her to do such a thing. Her eyes glanced up at V who joined the table. The winged girl smiled at her.
"Sure put them down here. Actually, I found all these books here. There's a lot of interesting legends, they're so wonderous! This one about a legendary sword is interesting..."
She held up the book to V, maybe there was an illustration ot two that she could see.
Re: The Quest for Murasame
Kobita plopped down into a chair next to Flojo as he continued to scroll through the site. "So were you going alone? And what treasure are ya looking for?" Kobita was naturally curious.
Finding a bunch of treasure would be fun and interesting. The boy focused on the screen for a few moments as a smile came to his face. "well I'll go with ya!" Kobita's face beamed as he made his exclamation. He'd find a way to tag along anyway, even if Flojo said no. He had also played those Tomb Raider games. Who knows what crazy stuff would happen whilst looking for this treasure. He needed him, at least thats what Kobita would tell himself.
Kobita noticed Amber and V looking at some books and turned to look at them. Were they studying? He should probably do that too, considering he was in no way prepared for when classes started. Then again, last time he attempted studying, it didn't exactly turn out well.
Kobita watched V carefully as the books teetered in her arms. He wasn't sure whether or not to jump up and help her, or to not offend her and stay back. Kobita decided with the latter and just watched, to make sure she made it to the table.
Re: The Quest for Murasame
"Specifically, I'm looking for a sword called the Murasame, something an ancestor of mine made. There's a whole load of other treasures hidden with it; there are more details in the book on the table where the nephilim girl is sitting," Flojo replied, waving vaguely behind him toward Amber's table, not even glancing toward it. If anyone found it odd how he just knew where people were... well, that was their problem.
"If you want to go," Flojo answered at the second query, "feel free. As long as you are not averse to traveling through a creepy forest full of demons and whatnot. If you come, you can have in on the treasure. I don't need much, and company makes the journey easier."
Flojo clicked again, changing the number of tickets from one to two. If Kobita was coming, they'd obviously need more, unless Kobita could fly or something, which Flojo found to be an unlikely proposition.

Re: The Quest for Murasame
Amber was surprised, she glanced over just as the Tai-chi student spoke again, he had waved over toward them. Did he have eyes in the back of his head, she wondered?
I wish he wouldn't say that so loudly...no more karma...
"You're really going to seek out the sword? That's admirable..." Amber said, hugging the book she had been reading. She turned to V suddenly with a smile on her face.
Re: The Quest for Murasame
Alexander continued to listen to them talking about the sword, and the interjections from various people. He recofgnized one of them, but the other voices he did not know. While the spoke his fingers passed over pages he did not read, though he kept a farce up to make it appear like he was reading. When somone spoke a trip idea, Alexander was shocked.
"China?" Alexander let out, before quickly fumbling with the book. The idea of people travelling while a war was going on between China and his country gave him goosebumps. He held it upside-down, but continued to pretend reading. His face was a bit sweaty, nervous due to him being rude and eavesdropping.

V sets the stack of books on the table without incident, although she has to steady the stack with one hand before she can lift up her chin; her serious golden (candle-flame, the edge of) eyes skim the pages Amber held up for her to see, at least until the nephlet hugs the book to her chest and V straightens.
Murasame: the legendary sword that can cut through anything --
Let's go with him, V. It'll be fun. She says, perhaps unexpected: "Okay."
And when the turbanned boy says China, she turns to look at him; glance at Amber, when she notices the boy's book is upside down, then glance back.
Re: The Quest for Murasame
As the group of students talked, it seemed another lay in watch of them all. A small girl was watching them through her very plain black hair. Her sharp eyes were as green as a beautiful piece of jade, watching the students intently. Her shirt was a simple black baby-t that was slightly too small for her with a japanese symbol inscribed on it in gold. Her cargo pants hung low on her hips, giving her mid drift a bit of a breeze. A simple pair of wooden sandels finished the ensemble, making her look like a very unkept person. Yes, the infamous Kagomi was observing human life around campus once again.
At the metnion of a quest to China, the smaurai perked up. Maybe she could find her own little adventure to go on while Alex pursued his own calling. She missed him terribly, though she wanted to take her mind off of him and this seemed like a logical way of doing so. She could have sworn this felt familiar for some reason, but she dismissed that thought and quietly stepped over to the crowd.
She remained invisible for her own reason, being terribly shy without Alex around. She was so used to him speaking for the both of them that she wasn't the most outgoing person. For now she would remain hidden to all except for Flojo. She knew he could sense her presence, but that didn't bother her. Alex was good friends with the man, and any friend of Alex's was a friend of her's. The only problem was communicating exactly what she wanted. So, she supposedshe would have to say something, now reading over Flojo's shoulder to see the tickets being ordered.
"I-I-I would like to come too Flojo...If that's not asking too much." Kagomi said, her voice echoing in an eerie manner as if she was in a very hollow room, though obviously strong enough that it was apparent she was in the room somewhere.
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Well, I still say not thinking is the best way to think!" -Alex Summers, thinking about thinking
Re: The Quest for Murasame
"You can come too," Flojo replied, not turning from the computer, but grinning, "I don't suppose you'll need a ticket, though."
It had been a long time since he'd seen Kagomi. He didn't know she could project her voice, though. He could tell from her ki that she had become stronger since the last time they'd met. If anyone found it odd that he was speaking with a disembodied voice, well, that was their problem. There were wierder things at Manga High.
He continued clicking, having acquired tickets for himself and Kobita. He now wondered whether or not to stay at a hotel, or simply stay with his grandfather. He would prefer not to have to stay there, especially with the sting the military had made there last year, looking for him and Ren.
His grandfather's school, however, was a lot closer to the forest in question than any of the hotels or motels he'd found upon searching. It might not be too bad of an idea to stay there, and as long as Kagomi stayed invisible, Flojo might be able to talk his grandfather into thinking she was ugly or something, to keep him off their case.

Re: The Quest for Murasame
Kobita smiled as he watched Flojo change the ticket number to two. It would seem he was going, and he didn't have to pay for it. Perfect. Kobita needed a trip to get away from a certain new arrival at school anyway. Going to China would be perfect.
Kobita turned and stared blankly at Amber as she professes her desire to accompany them. Where exactly did that come from. He supposed Amber would be okay if she went with them, but he was worried about V. If they were going through what Flojo indicated they would be, then it might be a little too dangerous for her.
Kobita chased the worry from his mind. If she decided to come, Flojo and he would just have to keep her safe. Simple as that.
The boy's head jerked up as he heard the woman's voice echo throughout the room. Kobita stared aimlessly up at the ceiling for a little until he recognized Kagomi's voice. His eyes then narrowed and his arms crossed over his chest. "I hate not being able to see things."

Re: The Quest for Murasame
Amber jumped up from her seat, the book still in her arms. She walked over to the Tai Chi student (she really needs to get his name if she'll be going) and bows her head to be respectful. She had only met him once before in the garden and since then she had not seen him really.
"Ah...Is it all right if V, Alexander and I come along with you too? It sounds like it would be something quite interesting...if money is an concern, I can deal with mine at least."
The winged girl smiled, snuggling the book. She had never went to China before, but her master had told her many stories about his travels there.
Re: The Quest for Murasame
Flojo pondered Amber's request for a moment. He wondered Whether it was honorable to allow a woman to follow him into such a dangerous place. Kagomi was an exception; he knew she could hold her own as well as he could, and besides, she was already dead, so there were no worries about her dying. He had seen this nephilim girl around campus once or twice, and knew she had an exceptional amount of ki.
"Not that he can stop you, but as long as you stay out of my way, and can keep yourself alive, I suppose you can go," Kenshin said, walking from behind some nearby shelves toward the computer, "Flojo has ... reservations ... about letting women go into dangerous places. I, however, don't go for that bushido idiocy. You can get killed however you like, as far as I care."
Flojo grimaced. Kenshin wasn't the most subtle of people, but he had summed up his feelings, as well as Flojo's, quite accurately. Flojo wasn't excited about letting her come along, but as Kenshin so expertly pointed out, there was no way to stop her. Besides, any time he tried to stop a woman from going into danger, there tended to be a "woman's rights" moment, usually ending with him being sent an angry letter by the Rainbow Coalition or someone like that.
Flojo turned to Amber. "You can come. As for V and Alexander... I have no idea who they are, but they can feel free to come to. Company makes a trip go better. By the way, I'm Flojo," he said, bowing slightly.

Alexander heard his name being mentioned, something that did not comfort him. Try his best, he was still noticed as eavesdropping. Setting the book, he rose to his feet, and turned to the others. Bowing, he spoke quickly. "I AM SO SORRY, I KNOW IT IS RUDE OF... Me?"
Alexander realized they were talking about his inclusion in the trip.

Re: The Quest for Murasame
The winged girl's dark eyes settled on the rougher man for a moment. (First thought: Very scary.) She then simply smiled at him, huggling the book in her black lace-covered arms like a friend.
"Not to worry. I won't die."
Strangely confident for someone who doesn't seem strong at all. She looked at Flojo, happy to know he can refer to him by name instead of thinking of him as "the Other Tai Chi student".
"You're very kind Flojo. Nice to meet you finally. The girl behind me is V and the boy in the orange turban is Alexander."
She glanced over at the turbaned boy and she gave him a cheerful wave.
"You wory too much...You're coming along too." Again she dragged another person into the trip. Did she know that Alexander had interest in the conversation or had it just been coincidence?
Re: The Quest for Murasame
At Amber's introduction (the girl behind me is V), the teen lifts a hand in acknowledgement. Her seeming is far too serious for somebody who, apparently, just decided on a whim to go to China on the trail of a legendary sword she may or may not have heard of before.
"Thank you, Flojo. When are we going to leave?" And, her gold-as-honey eyes shift from Flojo to Kenshin. Neutral: "And who are you?"
Although, at the echo of the ghost samurai girl's voice, V glances up, automatically trying to find the source, slides into a seat at the same time.

Re: The Quest for Murasame
Around the corner - which corner, pick one at random and it might be the wrong one, but from the last book case, he came from that corner - walking from the shadows that linger between the wall and bookcase, such terrible lighting back there -- he only casted into full sight when he was drawing closer.
The pages of a book was open before him, eyes run across the words of the book, at first glance one might think Akai was simply flipping through the book, skimming for information -- but a closer more trained eye would notice this young walking, keeping his wits about while digesting every word, every meaning without having to think about it twice to catch on while walking, fully read pages only in the matter of a second or two time frame.
Amber was a beacon, those wings were so distinct -- weren't they? He stopped walking, eyes glancing around as the book snapped (snap) shut. A simple motion and then it was tucked underneathe his arm - To second person V - he meets her gaze (expressives expressions) briefly. And then towards Kobita, Akai ackowledge him with a nod of his, just a slight cantation that spoke in a language all of its own(hello). Next Flojo - he remember him from the Garden (same day he met Amber) and behind Flojo, Kenshin - Another nod.
