Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Ghost in the Bones (Saori, and then open)
The lake isn't smooth; its surface is a series of chops and ripples and teeth (waves, waves, waves). The wind churns the water up; so does the rain. To be fair, the rain isn't much at all; it's practically a drizzle, occasionally heavy enough to mist, but slight. But the wind is cold. It's weather to cuddle up in. Weather to find that someone and curl into a mutual ball or drink hot chocolate by a fire (or, at least, a heater).
But one student is standing near the lake, a large red umbrella (dream of the red chamber, boys) in evidence. The student is female, with thick boots, mud-caked on their edges (so she's not a ghost, the way some people might think; the rain certainly didn't fall through her), and a long skirt with a buttoned up trench coat, as black as a raven's feathers, also in evidence. The evidence of the eyes, baby.
It's V, and she's just looking out across the lake for some reason you'd have to ask to figure out, unless you know her well, unless you're smart, an ipod earpiece in one ear, the other dangling down, and violin music skidding across the ear . . . She has a stone between her thumb and forefinger, wet and black and smooth, which she rubs.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (Saori, and then open)
On this terrible, stormy day, most every student was inside. They would have found their way to dorm rooms and lobbies, or to the library. There would be people everywhere inside, students looking to escape the rain. And this was exactly why Saori was outside, despite the weather. She wanted to avoid people as much as possible. And why would anyone come to the lake on a night as miserable as this one?
As she approached the lake, her arms were wrapped around herself. She was fairly well bundled up against the rain, covering herself in a sweatshirt as well as a raincoat. The hood covered her head, hiding most of her naturally green hair from view; yet her long bangs were still tossed about by the wind. There was no point in her trying to keep her hair out of her emerald eyes - unless she wanted to control the wind, and that was too much work for so little a benefit. She just ignored it.
Just as she reached the clearing, her eyes fell upon another girl. She squeaked and jumped, then took a step backwards. Obviously, this wasn't where she should have gone. She was surprised to see someone out in this weather. Too afraid to approach the girl, she stepped to the side, and hid behind a tree. She turned around and pressed her back against the tree, sighing a little, and closing her eyes.
"Why are there always people around...? I'm not going to escape them and their words....they're all out to get me, aren't they?"

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
The rain isn't just a light drizzle, just a mist which beads through the air; all of the noise is the wind, whipping through dark branches and stirring up the water. Was Saori's squeak loud enough to be heard over such din, and does it matter?
The teenager with the red umbrella (and red is the color of luck) stands still, and Saori might feel herself safe and quite unnoticed. Except, after a moment or two, V turns (and the umbrella moves, so she's visible: milky skin, luminous hair, great warm golden eyes) to look over her shoulder.
"Hello?"

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
Saori let out another cute squeak to signify her surprise and fear at being noticed. When she hears the word, "Hello," uttered from the girl before her, She frowns. The girl has seen her. And with that, she decided that she must step out, and acknowledge the girl. Now that she was seen, it is only the polite thing to do. Besides....if she remained behind the tree, this girl would only make fun of her some more.
And then, shaking, she stepped sideways, into full view. Now that V could see her much more easily, Saori's face filled with a deep red flush. She hung her head a little, looking at the ground instead of at V, too afraid to make eye contact. This posture causes her long, green bangs to hang freely into her face, covering her it, and hiding it from view. Both hands were clasped together, hanging in front of her, in front of the knee-length plaid skirt that she was wearing.
"H...h-h-hello.....m-my name's....S-Saori..." She stuttered, obviously very frightened, her whole body still shaking. But she managed to give a bow, not wanting to be rude. The action caused her whole head of hair to fall forward, and when she rose up again, she looked up at V. Her hair still hung in her face, hiding much of it, and even covering one eye; but she could still see the girl quite well.
And she was pretty.....which only made things more difficult. Immediately, the blush on her face deepened, and she looked away. She couldn't stand it, knowing that such a pretty girl would hate her soon enough, would make fun of her....just like all the rest....

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
The girl under the red umbrella (and it's as fine a colour as the inside of a pomegranate, bright) gazes at Saori, mild. There is wind, and the wind takes strands of her too-gold hair and snakes them across her throat and collar bone; plays havoc with Saori's dark jade(d) green locks, even when the petite girl hangs her head in a bow. The wind seems to take delight in it, suddenly playful -- then dying and dropping away.
When Saori finally can look up, she meets V's eyes for the briefest of moments before she looks away again; V's still studying the girl, directly. Then she repeats: "Hello." And she looks so warm, she really does, as if to touch her hair would be to warm your hands against the autumn chill -- indeed. "I'm V. You're a new student?"

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
Saori lifted her eyes to V when she spoke again. Her eyes were large, filled with fear. Both hands rose; one clutched the collar of her shirt, while the other one was lifted to her mouth, her curled finger pressed against her lips. This action only added to her wide-eyed, shaking look; she was obviously scared by V, and the feeling only grew as the girl approached.
Her name was V. such a pretty name, for such a pretty girl. Saori's face flushed again at this thought; and she immediately looked away once again. But she gave the girl a slight nod of the head, letting her know the answer to her question. Yes, she was a new student. But she said nothing; she didn't know what to say. She was so frightened, her mind was drawing a blank. What should she say? She felt like she was about to cry.
This girl, this pretty girl, standing right in front of her. V was trying to talk to her, and Saori was saying nothing. She was sure that V would get bored with her; or worse, she'd think bad about her for not speaking! She shut her eyes tight; it felt like she might cry. Her mind raced with thoughts. What to say?!
"I....uhhm....uhhhm....uhhm.....I....this....this i-is my....my second day..." She cringed a little after the words left her mouth, carried by her meek voice to V. She was sure that, if V didn't dislike her before she spoke, she'd sure find her awfully weird in a negative way now. And she couldn't stand the thought.

"Oh." Aloof Genevieve, she doesn't always know how to put people at their ease. It wasn't a skill she was taught. It isn't a talent everybody has. She spins the red umbrella slowly, and wind gathers in it; lifts, so that she rises, too, onto the tips of her toes. The lake isn't calm tonight; it doesn't hold a single reflection. Thoughtless waters. "Welcome to MHS."
She glances off to the side, too; but she keeps Saori in her sights, and watches the girl out of the corner of her eye. "Did you know that people used to think the sound of the wind through the trees was the voice of the gods? They had people who tried to interpret what they said."

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
Saori sighed, and looked at the ground, a hand at her mouth still. When she heard V speak her words, simply saying "Oh...", the poor girl's heart sank. She knew that V must be displeased with Saori's personality. In fact, V must hate her! That thought made her heart sink even more, and she even felt as if she would cry. After blinking a few times, to hold back the tears, she looked up. V had spoken again.
This time, the other girl was speaking about the wind. This intrigued Saori; did V know about the girl? Did V know her powers and her abilities? She could be simply making fun of said powers....but Saori doubted it. She wasn't that paranoid to believe that the girl could have understood what Saori's abilities were without being told. No, it was just a coincidence. V was making small talk. And small talk meant that V still wanted to talk to her!
Suddenly, a small smile formed on Saori's face, as her heart lifted slightly. Both hands clasped in front of her chest, as she looked up at V, admiringly. But, in response to V's words, she shook her head. She didn't want to be disagreeable, but she wasn't going to let something this important to her go. That is, unless V truly did not believe; the girl was far too shy and submissive to push anything on anyone.
"N-no...the wind isn't a voice of someone else. The wind....the wind is itself," Her meek little voice had gained a little bit of courage in it, as Saori was talking about something she was happy with, proud of. She held up a hand, palm up, feeling the wind blow past it. "Yes.....the wind is its own entity." She nodded.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
"Do you think so?" V's voice is so mild. Not monotone and emotionless; she is never that. But mild and cool (compare it to a breeze, even: gentle). "You could be right."
The wind begins to blow more harshly, sweeping across the lake like a razor -- the rain begins to come down more steadily, too, less mist and more actual rain. The water collects along the top of the umbrella, and glides down the silvered spines -- is a silver line across the lake's dappled surface.
V takes a couple of steps closer to Saori, and holds the umbrella (it's one of those large, large ones) over her as well. "I wish I was as sure of myself."
And Saori's found V in a rare mood. Talkative. For her. For her, with strangers.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
When V responded, it wasn't demeaning, or in ridicule, as Saori half-expected. After all, she had disagreed with V; and usually, when she said no to someone, they made fun of her, or yelled at her for it. But V was different; she actually agreed with Saori! Immediately, the girl's smile grew, as she looked up at V, her respect and admiration growing; and it was apparent by the warm glow that was growing in her eyes.
The wind was blowing harder around them, even so much that it knocked V off-balance. It didn't bother Saori at all, though; in fact, it made the girl feel better. As the wind blew across her body, enveloping her, she felt much safer. If only she were in the air...But she wasn't. She was with this pretty girl....who was actually accepting her! As V stepped closer, Saori blushed deeply; and as she felt the raindrops come to an abrupt end when the umbrella covered her, her blush only became a darker red. Her eyes averted shyly from V, and she looked at the ground. The closeness scared her; but at the same time, it was nice to be so close to this girl...
"Th-thank you..." She mumbled.
"I wish I was as sure of myself."
She turned and looked at V, blinking curiously. The blush had faded, since her mind was focused on the new words rather than the closeness, as was apparent in her big, innocent eyes as they gazed up at V.
"S-sure of yourself....?"

The word here is: simplicity. The answer is simple. Economical. Sparse. No waste, no want. (No want, no desire. No desire, no life? Philosophers - be silent!) The rain makes the lake white as the moon; constantly dappled, and all the darkness is on its underside. The first person who thought the lake was like a mirror is the first person who prayed to its kami-lady.

Re: Ghost in the BoneS (open)
saori blinked, looking up at V. Her eyes were wide, her mouth slightly open, making her look very curious. She held a hand near her throat, the other near her chest; it added to the innocent, shy air about her; though she didn't even realize she was doing it. Maybe it was a habit, simply something she'd learned to do. Or maybe it made her feel safer, as if she was protecting herself. Who knows?
"You said that, about the wind, with such assurance. You didn't seem to have any doubts. That must be nice."
Saori blinked again, tilting her head to the side curiously. Then, immediately, she blushed, and lowered her eyes to the ground. This comment embarrassed her for a couple of reasons. No doubts? Saori always had doubts, about everything. She was always so frightened, she never wanted to do anything that could hurt her....
Yet it was also embarrassing to have V talk of her like that. The words, while confusing, held a hint of a compliment. And such warm words from a pretty girl like V made Saori a little happy. She could feel a fuzzy feeling inside; but the feeling scared her, as well. Was V really complimenting her? Or was it really something awful? Saori had no idea.
But she still didn't know what V even meant by those words...
"N-nice...? What...do you mean?" She didn't want to say that she had doubts....it scared her to open up like that. "Uhhm...I'm sure...I'm sure you have....something nice about yourself...." She blushed very, very deeply, and her arms moved to her chest, one clasing over the other, just below her collarbone. She hoped these words made sense to V; and she hoped that somehow it would clear up the original statement. After all, Saori didn't understand what V meant by "that must be nice..."

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
V glances at Saori - a sidelong little glance, brief and luminous - before her gaze drops to the ground which is almost as wet as the lake. Wet with water, and pale with reflections, and dark with mud in irregular ridges, made by irregular feet. "You just met me," she says, coolly, and despite the fact that they share space under the red umbrella, there's more distance in those words then there has been between the girls yet. But V thaws, slightly, to say, blank: "But thank you."
"I'll walk you back to the dormitories, if you wish." Who knows, after all; Saori might be half-mermaid, with that green hair, and rain is just what she likes, getting totally and utterly drenched. "What grade are you in?"

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)"You just met me,"
Saori looked up at V, just in time to meet the girl's sidelong glance. Immediately, her eyes widened and her cheeks filled with a deep red blush. She lowered her gaze, glad to know that her hair was once again covering the color of her face, apparent by the burning sensation she could feel. Her hands clasped to each other tighter out of nervousness. It was true, they had only just met....why did she have to say something so stupid?!
"That comment was stupid...this girl has to think I'm weird for saying it..." She frowned, and her heart sank a moment....only to be lifted again by the completion of V's sentence.
"But thank you."
Saori blinked, lifting her head to look at V again. This time, though her eyes were wide and cheeks were still red, she didn't look away. Her mouth held a neutral position for a few moments, as she gazed up to the girl. Finally, she nodded, and looked away, extremely embarrassed not only because of V's words, but because she held the gaze so long....but she felt happy. Here was a pretty girl, who Saori had been sure would hate her....and she had nothing but kind words so far.
Upon hearing the offer to go back to the dorms, the blush on Saori's face deepened. While she would love nothing more than to spend more time with V, Saori was sure that such a situation would be awkward. After all, Saori rarely spoke to people she barely knew....And she didn't want V to hate her for being shy and quiet.
But she couldn't refuse. It just wasn't in her to refuse anything, unless she was sure it would bother the other person. Frowning, she nodded a bit. "A-alright..." She sighed, and turned to face V, awaiting her to lead the way.
"Grade...? O-oh! Uhhm...I'm in...uhhm....I'm a f-freshman." She cringed a bit. She'd heard that freshmen were disliked by older students; and she didn't want to give V any more reason to hate her. But she couldn't avoid the question, so she closed her eyes and tensed up, expecting ridicule....

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
When Saori stammers her aquiescence, Genevieve turns, a steady hand on the great red umbrella (it turns like wheel spokes, an edible sun on its death bed), and then she'll begin to lead the way down towards the school. This means beyond the lakeshore; beyond a little garden of stones which seems to be constructed, stone by stone.
There, V stops, with a brief glance (it can be read as apologetic) for Saori, before she leans over and picks up a smooth stone - only to balance it atop another. The piles are small and organic, and the rain will probably topple at least some; still, it's organic art. Then, continue toward school. Lights are visible, hazy as a Monet painting of fireflies, through the trees and in the distance. There's a small bridge to cross. And then there are small shale steps from the lake through a copse of trees, at some point, water running freely from their cracks; miniature sized waterfalls.
Splish, splash. The wind keeps trying to steal the umbrella.

She blinked, and thought a moment, her eyes on V. The girl hadn't been unpleasant towards her for being a freshman! It made her feel warm and fuzzy inside; this V was kind and gentle so far. Though she wasn't very talkative or open towards Saori, V was definitely a pleasant person to be around. The green-haired girl put a small smile on her face, and began walking, tagging along behind V, her big, innocent eyes not leaving the pretty girl's face as she followed cutely.
Then, her mind thought about the rest of the sentence. Darrien? It seemed as if she'd heard that name before.... her lips curled up into a thoughtful pout, as she pressed her finger to her lips cutely. Then, it clicked. She had met him that day in the alley downtown, along with the other boy! She nodded quickly to V, putting on her small, cute smile again.
"Y-yes.....uhhm..." She looked up at her for a few moments. "A...sophomore....?" She blushed a bit. There was no way an older student would want to spend time with her....
Saori's eyes looked ahead, and she thought for a moment. "Uhhm...s-so...uhhm....h-how long...have you been here...?" She blushed deeply.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
Saori is so cute. Her little nose, her great big eyes, the way she walks; it's all cute! And hesitant. Her shyness might put some people off. It's difficult to be shy, especially when you're a kid. When you're an adult, at least you have your own business to follow; but when you're a kid? When you're a teenager? It's hard.
"___________." Because time on the board is so off, Genevieve answers, and the answer will give Saori an impression of Genevieve having been on campus for a little while, but not longer than whatever that little while is. Few months, perhaps, over the summer break, maybe. "What floor are you on?"
Careful, and full of ease, her movements sparse and economic, as lovely as a Japanese poem, V navigates the mud and the puddles which creep around the walkway's stones.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
In response to V's words, Saori just nodded and smiled shyly. She didn't know what to say to that, so she hoped that the nod would suffice for now. Her hands remained clasped in front of her, as she followed just behind V, to the side, trying to stay as close as possible without it being noticeable. her boots trekked through the mud beneath them, trying to avoid the holes and puddles the way that the older girl did; but Saori wasn't as graceful as V.
As they walked, Saori's eyes remained on V. The other girl was gazing ahead, not looking back; it gave the younger girl an opportunity to admire V. Her big eyes simply watched V's face, full of respect. If V were to look at her, though, she'd simply blush and look away; while it wasn't an awkward sort of stare, Saori didn't feel comfortable making eye contact. She was really starting to like V, as well, and didn't want the girl to think badly about her...
Finally, she realized something. The two of them were going to the dorms! Saori frowned a bit, as she thought about that. Though she'd submitted an application, Saori had not been put in a dorm yet, and had nowhere to go once they got back. Her eyes shifted now, to gaze at the ground, as she pouted cutely. She didn't want to tell V about her problem, but she also didn't want to get back to find she had nowhere to go. Her mind thought hard for a moment, while there was silence around them.
"Uhhm....I....we're going to the dorms? I.....don't have a place to stay...." She blushed as she told V in her meek voice. "I...uhhm....don't know where to go...."

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
"You don't?" Mild surprise. V flicks Saori a glance, a studious creature. The school's night time lights are all on and attended by halos. The rain clearly defines them: metal and glass angels. "Do you stay with your family in the city, or is this your very first day? We can go to the office and request your dormitory assignment."
V is so efficient, and so used to efficiency, that she doesn't realize that the office is sometimes slow, and bureaucracy can grind, and the school can allow students to go without a place to stay for weeks.

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
V's reaction was somewhat the expected one. Saori heard V speak, and looked down at the ground, her cheeks filling with a deep crimson blush. She felt a little embarrassed at her lack of home; it was the second time she had to tell someone. It didn't even register in her mind yet that she would have to stay outside that night, and it was cold and wet.....she was far too focused on what V must think of her right now.
And then, the girl offered to help her! Granted, Saori had already applied for a dormitory, but it was the thought that mattered. It actually brought a smile to the girl's face, and her blush deepend: no longer because she was embarrassed about her lack of dorms, but because of the way she enjoyed the good-natured attention she was getting: something she wasn't used to from people outside her family.
Finally, she looked up at V again. "Uhhm...I....have already applied for a dorm. They just haven't given me one..." She frowned, sighing slightly.
She continued to walk behind V, following her wherever she went. Saori didn't care where their destination was....but she was actually enjoying the company, and didn't want the girl to leave her somewhere. So, as long as V was there, Saori would be happy to go wherever...

Re: Ghost in the Bones (open)
The amber (O, honeycomb and fool's) eyes become a trifle wary, but Genevieve has a careful reign over her emotions, and which emotions show; she doesn't choose to show the wariness, in case Saori is what she seems to be. In case she isn't. Besides, it isn't necessarily directed at her. Still, it passes like a shadow. Then it's gone: the serious, careful woman is bright.
And emphasis is on serious. "Where were you going to stay tonight?"
