Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

The raven's voice cracks in its throat. Caw; the Latin for tomorrow, tomorrow. The black, black birds with their jetty-bead eyes and ink-blot silhouettes are gathered in a murder of three at the edge of the lake. V's there, too; not with those ravens, but on a rock which is a distance from the lake, but still keeps it in sight. Her red [lucky] umbrella is at the base of the rock and her slender throat is concealed in the long wrap of a red, red scarf, which trails down over her shoulders and pools on the rock, before dropping off.
She can't hear a single thing because she's wearing an ipod, while feeding one of the ravens, which has left its three fellows and flown up to eat pieces of cake at her feet.
Kobita paused for a moment as he saw someone he didn't expect at the lake. Well, he'd seen her here before, it shouldn't be too unexpected. He had seen her down here before. Seemingly a spot she frequented.
Kobita called her name, but didn't get a response, she just kept feeding the bird at her feet. Kobita watched her for a few moments, confused as to whether or not she was deaf or ignoring him. Most likely, she was ignoring him, because there wasn't much chance she magically became deaf since he last saw her.
Kobita rubbed his chin as he tried to figure it out. Why was she ignoring him? Did he do something wrong? Did the Bills lose? Kobita shook his head to stop questioning himself. V didn't seem like someone who had time to care about football anyway.
Kobita walked up slowly, seeing if she'd turn around and acknowledge him. After she didn't, he took perch on a nearby rock. It was parallel to V's rock, just a few feet behind. Kobita leaned forward on the rock, risking a face plant as he gripped the rock with his hands.
He managed to lean forward enough to see her face and...was that a headphone? He'd seen Hadu with one, an Ipod she called it. She wasn't ignoring him...she just couldn't hear him. He was closer with his other option. He readily smacked his forehead in annoyance at not foreseeing this.
Unfortunately, his grip on the rock was the only thing allowing him to lean so far foreward. So Kobita was greated warmly by the face plant he was risking as he fell face first into the sand, the rest of his body following suit.
Re: Dark (open)
The raven (a bold bird) startles and flies into the air when Kobita drops (face first) into the sand (body second). Of course, Genevieve turns (a delicate sharpness) to look over her shoulder. The fingers of her left hand snag the wire of one earpiece, and pull it free; her other hand has gone to her pocket.
The ipod is palmed in that hand, but how quickly, how easily, she might change in favor of -
But then she lets her hand still, and thumbs the ipod into quiet. "Kobita?" It was a question. But then she looks down at her ipod's screen and says, as usual cool, "Hi."

Re: Dark (open)
(It seemed kinda open, and not fully dead, so here goes)
The comfort Merciah feels as he walks slowly, both hands clasped together infront of him, and covered inside the sleeves of his turquoise robe. The comfort is that of a day with out any serious worries. The weekend is coming to a close, and he knows the beginning of the school week is going to include classes. So he is trying to enjoy the peacefull relaxation he can find only through natures company.
As he nears the shore of the lake, Merciah can hear the birds as they speak to each other apparently about the one bird who has left there group to feed itself on the treat that V has permitted it to snack on. Merciah spots Kobita behind her as he approaches just before he face plants into the sand.
Watching with curiosity, Merciah remains quiet, and not very open as he remains to himself but observing like he tends to do. If either of the two notice him, he'll approach with a greeting, but untill then he simply remains a polite distance away as he enjoys the peacefull nature of the world around him.

Re: Dark (open)
Kobita wasn't a very observant person, so Merciah's approach went unnoticed. He might have heard him if his head wasn't half buried in the sand. Sand was too loose for vibrations to properly flow through it, so sensing him was out of the question.
Kobita smiled as she greeted him then rolled back up into a sitting position. "Hey V" He said calmly as he leaned against the rock he just fell from. Kobita took a few moments to simply look out at the lake. He wasn't sure exactly what he wanted to say.
"V...about that day on the roof..." That was about as far as he managed to get before he ran out of words to say.
Re: Dark (open)
"What -- " Pause. Bone in throat. Doesn't let herself say what she was going to say. V adjusts the left ear-piece, so it nestles deeper in the delicate shell of her ear. (Hush, music, play, play.) " -- about it?"
And V is an observant person. An alert person. It would be a lie to say that her ability wasn't preternatural. Because it rests on something most people aren't able to do. You may be quiet, but your shadow isn't; quiet as a shadow.
The phrase makes her laugh.
That said, Merciah can't go unnoticed. Even though the first thing she thinks when she thinks of Merciah has nothing to do with him, and all to do with his face; V's glance lifts from the lake, and turns down the shore.
Re: Dark (open)
Merciah takes a comfortable seat on a large rock near the water of the lake. He sits quietly, listening to the sounds of nature from the side of the lake. A small bird, perhaps a sparrow of sorts lands on the sand just infront of Merciah and looks up at him, observing the newcomer to his home area. Being not on the opposite side of the lake, but an edge far enough away from the crows, the small bird is uncaring about the larger birds imposing upon it.
Merciah looks at the crows over near V and Kobita and back to the smaller bird. Normally any person wouldn't be able to hear the birds bickering quietly near V and Kobita from where Merciah sits, but when it comes to ones awareness, Merciah has honed his senses in on being able to do such things. He pays attention to the sounds they make, incase they decide to suddenly change their actions and fly around, even near Merciah and the bird. He wouldn't like to be a cause for interrupting nature by distracting a smaller animal from a larger one.
In doing so, Merciah overheard the words between Kobita and V. Though it wan't his intention, he couldn't direct exactly what he was trying to tune his sense into, just whether they were being focuse or not to be better.

Re: Dark (open)
Naturally, producing words for Kobi was difficult to begin with. Now that he had no idea what he wanted to say only made things twenty times worse. So, he did what he did best, he turned his head and looked out at the lake.
He still didn't notice Merciah. He had a lot he was thinking about built upon his already unobservant state. So Merciah, especially with the lack of sound moving through the sand, was mostly out of the question.
"Well...I was wondering if you'd...maybe like to..." The nervousness was evident on his face as he tried to squeeze out the words. "...go out to dinner sometime?" It was incredibly hard for Kobita to maintain a regular facial color, but he was somehow managing to do a relatively good job. His face only reddened a few shades as opposed to the ten it usually did.
Re: Dark (open)
Violin music continues to sing into one ear and at her collar bone, where the stray earpiece lies; so low, but Merciah can no doubt hear it. Exquisite, and there has to be at least two violinists, song throbbing. But she's turned it down so low. Suddenly, she turns it off. Takes the other earpiece out and begins to wind the cord around the ipod's body.
"I'm still not allowed to leave campus," says she, after a pause. If Merciah glances in their direction, she'll incline her head (royal, proud, snob) in a nod. But if not, she won't call him over at the moment. "Or I would." Amendment: "Like to."
Re: Dark (open)
Merciah seeing the two near whwere the larger birds are notices V's nod in recognition of his being there. Being himself, he simply returns the nod then allows his attention to fall back to the small bird befroe him. It still remains ever curious, even so much as to approach even closer to Merciah. Intrigued about the bird, Merciah seems inviting to it as he allows his hands to be unclasped and lowers his right hand to the ground, his index finger extended to see if the bird might be willing to approach him and use his hand as a perch.

Re: Dark (open)
Kobita turned his attention back out to the lake as she brought up a new problem. He had forgotten she was forbidden to leave the campus. That kinda ruined the plan. He was happy that she would like to though. At least it wasn't a complete waste.
Well, just sitting here with her would be an adequate substitute until he thought of another plan. How soon that would be he did not know. It took him a good couple days to figure out that one.
And then, also, silence. Silence. Silence. V breaks up another piece of bread for the crow (so glossy and so black), and keeps one ear turned (metaphorically speaking, of course; unlike some students at MHS, her ears don't swivel) toward Kobita. Her gaze switches from the crow, to the monkish boy coaxing a bird onto his finger.
Re: Dark (open)
Remaining quiet and to himself as he normallyt does. Merciah isn't a person of many words and because of that, he doesn't talk to a lot of people. A lot of people see him around on campus, but there are very few people that probably know that much about him. Not because he is shy, no, he probably doesn't know how to be shy, though it would go the same as if someone thought he were sociable, he doesn't know how to be a very social person. Merciah simply knows how to be himself, and that, is a person who keeps to himself, and doesn't intrude on others much if at all.
He'llm help out when he sees someone might need it, but other then that, his interactions with other students are almost always the results of them approaching him. Though the conversations that people might have with Merciah usually end up seeming to be unfullfilling. As he seems to never give a full answer. His lack of having a full grasp of the English language might be to blame, but nonthe less. This would be one of the resons that he enjoys his personal area with him and the small bird.
With a little more coaxing, finally the small bird hops up onto his finger. Something that brings a small glimmer to Merciah's eye. He might smile, but he isn't a person to do such a thing either. Not that he's without emotion, he just isn't one that displays it on his face. Though it might be read in his eyes as he sits there with the small bird on his finger as his only companion.
This is where I put more of my random thoughts. :)
Has everyone heard, there have been attacks in the forest. More and more students are showing up in Mrs Hanabishi's ward by the day. What's going on. It's the talk of the school.

Re: Dark (open)
How a human being could remain so completely oblivious would forever be a mystery, but even as V looks over at Merciah, Kobita still doesn't have the slightest clue he's there.
The boy slowly leaned forward on the large rock to pick up a smaller, smoother rock. He turned it over and around in his hands, watching it quietly.
"V...about Amber..." He wasn't sure what to say. He figured she left quickly due to the rose being there, without actually knowing why Amber was in there. "Anyone tell you why she was in there?"
V coaxes the crow closer with a few gestures of her fingers. Sorry, scratch that. V attempts to coax the crow closer with a few gestures of her fingers. But the crow just gives her a look, like, yeah right, I don't eat worms, I like roadkill, stop moving so much. Which she does, after another second (tick, tock . . .).
Then she sits back, tucking a strand of impossible-to-be-that-gold hair behind her ear, and see its shine, lovely. "Yes; I heard the whole story."
Re: Dark (open)
Kobita nodded at her response and turned his attention back out to the lake. "Well, then I don't think I need to say anything." He really didn't think he needed to. There wasn't anything he could say, at least not that he could think of. He could go through to speech of "we need to be there for her", but V probably already knew that.
So he didn't say anything. He looked down at the crow V was seemingly communicating with...or she was trying to get to move and was failing. A smile came to his face as his attention shifted once again to the lake.
Re: Dark (open)
Thoughts about Amber, and Amber's dark fate, and all of the blood and all of the gore which Amber has been the author of, distracts V pretty fully from other thoughts.
"Hey, Kobita," she says, after a silence, during which she tries to coax the crow closer, with varying degrees of success. Finally, it lifts up, and flies over to Merciah, flies low over the monkish student's head. "What can you do with your sound ability other than hit people?"
Now, V doesn't usually ask people about their powers. In fact, she never, ever does. She doesn't want to be asked, in turn. . .
Re: Dark (open)
Kobita focused on his gaze out at the lake much more intensely after her question. While it wasn't a horrible question, she was simply curious of what he could do. The part that got him was what all he couldn't do. He wasn't a prodigy of his family, not by a longshot, that was probably why he was donated to the cybernetic project.
"What can I personally do? Very little...other than make your Ipod overly noisy or make the ground shake a little." The music on her Ipod flared up to an audible level as he spoke of it and died down almost immediately after. "I'm no where near as skilled at it as others though." His gaze reverted from the lake to the sand in front of him.
"My cousin for example, can alter noises all together, make them sound completely different. Makes it difficult to find her a lot. She always beat me at hide and seek. She also never passed up the chance to immitate my voice cracking." He laughed uneasily at the thought. He and Hadu were more or less friends at that point. It was leaning toward less, but they certainly weren't going to be killing each other. It was considerably different now.
"Other people could change the pitch of the sound...making it so high it was disorienting. Some could even control the ground with it; the more twisted ones can speed up the hearts vibrations if they get close enough to feel the sound waves."
Re: Dark (open)
When the ipod gives a little swell, the sound of a single (barren) violin pierces sweetness from the air; then dies, again, as if mid-word. Genevieve glances down at the ipod, gaze concealed -- sheathed. Then she tosses it at Kobita, after she makes sure she has his, ah, attention and he will catch it.
"You have twisted family members that would do that?"
Re: Dark (open)
Kobita couldn't help but smile lightly at her next question. While it may not seem humorous to others, to Kobita it was borderline hilarious. His family had become...increasingly twisted lately. "Yeah...my cousin being one of them."
His mouth formed an uneasy smile. He wasn't sure what to do with Hadu...or even if he could do anything. He couldn't bring himself to seriously harm his cousin...and even if he did he might not be able to. She wouldn't fall for getting hit in the back of the head again.
Re: Dark
"I see," she says, and then doesn't say anything else. Not immediately. Not yet. The lake is still, and nobody would ever guess that a spirit slept beneath it; the lake is as still as a mirror, and the birds are enjoying Merciah's statue-like presence. They haven't yet become horror movie props. They likely won't. Nope; quiet. Except for the lake and the birds.
