Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Ah that’s right, Amber thought to herself, Knives has his own sword. Amber’s Tai Chi sword worked a little differently than his probably would. Hard to say...she had not seen what he could do and vice versa. Amber smiled, this will be a fun surprise for him!
“Ikuyo!” Amber said one of the few Japanese words that she could speak perfectly.
Staring straight at Knives, the winged girl chanted something in Latin. The girl was gathering chi, letting the energy flow through her body and into her sword like water flowing along a creek. To Knives it seemed that nothing visible was happening...yet. Suddenly Amber made an underhand swing and made a snap of her wrist. What seemed to be nothing was actually rushing towards him, creating a groove in the grass as it neared her opponent; a gust of wind it seemed! Should the gust of energy hit Knives, it would feel as if he took a physical slash from Amber’s sword (without breaking skin).
Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Knives blinked and stared. His whole body, which was tense and ready, now loosened itself, his muscles relaxing. Nothing was happening; at least, something was happening, but the dog boy couldn't tell what. As he kept his focus on Amber, he could see her lips moving, hear some sort of strange chant, words he had never heard before (though they did sound familiar - english is technically based on latin). But they seemed important; Amber seemed fairly intent on what she was doing and saying. Knives's grip loosened on his sword, and one hand even let go, to scratch his head again; at this movement, his sword hand fell to his side, so that the blade came to rest upon the grassy ground beneath him.
Suddenly, she slashed the air. Knives blinked...what was she doing, slashing so far away? At first, he did not understand. But, as he watched, he could see the ground being cut, a slice through the earth that was headed his way. Suddenly, it made sense: he had heard of swordsmen who could attack with their energy, the same energy he used in his claws.
He looked at the ground, at the slice that was coming towards him. It was moving very fast, and it had taken the dog boy a moment to understand what it was. Unfortunately, that moment had been just long enough to prevent him from being able to escape: it would hit, all Knives could do was defend. He looked down at his sword, then back at the attack in front of him. His whole body tensed again, readying itself for the impact. His sword hand lifted up again, holding the blade out horizontally in front of him, sharp edge towards the attack and blunt edge towards himself. With his free hand, he steadied the blade, holding the blunt edge of the sword to support it under the impact. Hopefully, a physical object like his sword could cut through the attack.
And he ducked his head, tensed his muscles, and got ready for the impact, waiting to see what would happen next.

He spinned around on the blades of grass to where he could sit up and watch the spar. Knees drew themselves into his chest, fingers intertwine into one another keeping himself closed, huddled up.
"That a girl!
Akai offered up his enouragement to her -- those followed with the twist of his head to focus on Knives, watching through that distance as the Vis Vires sliced through the air -- Amber's strenght had increased so much since he had met her -- she was a good fighter, and not some damsel in distress.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
It would truly feel like a gust of air blowing upon him, coupled with the sensation of a blade's cut in various places of the body. While it never broke skin, it sure felt as if he stare down and see cuts. She hasn't reached that strength as of yet.
Hope this won't be too much...
When he had braced for impact of that gust of chi, Amber leapt into the air, fanning out those precious white wings of hers. She stared down upon Knives like an angel of judgement all the meanwhile concentrating to half the potency of her chi. She only could hover for a short while, so she would make the most of it. One-two continuous slashes down on Knives, one he could dodge fine but the other will act as a homing missle.
Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Apparently, physical swords can't defend against chi blasts. At least, not when used like a physical sword. And Knives definitely found this out the hard way. As he held the sword out in front of him, he didn't feel an immense force hitting the blade. Rather, he felt a gust of wind hit his entire body, followed by the searing pain that came from a series of slices all over his body. He cringed, and cried out at the terrible feeling. Then, he fell to his knees, both arms dropping to hang loosely at his side, so that the silvery blade fell to rest on the ground once again.
He half expected to smell blood, to look down and see himself covered in deep, bloody cuts. But when he opened his eyes again, he saw nothing: his body remained completely unscathed. He blinked a couple times. Then, he pushed off of the ground with his hand, lifting himself to raise to his feet once again. His body was sore in several places; but he was strong, he could withstand it easily. With his eyes on Amber, he gripped his sword tightly again, and began his attack. He wouldn't give her another chance to hit him.
She rose into the air. At first, this caught him off-guard; he wasn't expecting to have to deal with an air battle. But it didn't matter; she was an angel, after all, and had wings - surely he knew she could fly. And it didn't much effect him, at least not yet. She only hovered a short distance from the ground. Knives, with his strong legs, could easily leap that distance. So, as he charged forth in Amber's direction, he gripped the hilt of his sword tightly at his side, angled away from him, and readied himself for a big jump.
Before he could leap, he saw her slash again - twice. "Simple," he thought. Now that he had seen how this attack worked, he knew how to avoid it. Quickly, he sidestepped to the left, allowing the first attack to fly past him harmlessly, to hit the ground where he had been standing. This put him in the path of the next attack, giving him just enough time to step back to the right again, so that the attack missed him by seconds, and he found himself standing where he was initially. But he'd only barely touched the ground after his step before he kicked off of it again, jumping straight towards Amber.
He reared his sword back, readying it for a slash. And then, something caught his attention; his ears twitched a little, as they picked up the faint "whoosh" sound from behind him - something was slicing through the air, and at a speed fast enough to make a sound. Knives blinked. Could the attack be following him? He thought quickly; what could he do? But he didn't have much time; he had already reached where Amber was floating in the air.
With a firm grip on his sword, Knives slashed at Amber, his sword slicing downwards through the air, straight towards her. But his mind was focused on the attack behind him; it was likely she could easily defend against that attack, and even the next slash that he made, this time from the side. By now, Amber's attack was upon him; he had seconds to react. With no other ideas, he settled his mind on one, risky plan that may not work.
Knives slashed again, this time aiming for Amber's sword. He pinned it down, holding it away so that she could not use it on him as he reached forward with his free hand, to grasp her shoulder. With a hard thrust, he pushed down on her shoulder. Assuming Amber's wing strength was enough, Knives would be sent above her into the air, to flip over her head and fall to the ground behind her. This would leave her in the chi blast's path; of course, if the attack had decent reactions it would simply follow his movements, but he was counting on that to be false...

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
It was shaping up to be a good show indeed, Amber's mastery over her techique's were growing at a steady rate -- just like his own, their power had both increased ever since she taught him to be more open to the world right here in this very forest on that faithful night when they first met.
And now --
Knives was going to learn, that this girl was truly no push over. Akai head tilted back when she ascended into the air, wings unfurling to allow her to float momentarily and release those two attacks -- Akai had wittnessed this attack pattern before, back at the falls and how effective those gust of wind masked chi were against Sogetsu, the Seiryu.
Those oh so blue eyes snapped to Knives to how he would deal with these attack, perhaps give Akai himself a few ideas in the process of how to deal with Amber's seemingly unavoidable attack.
His skill with the blade was almost. . .decent. The way they moved though, so very slow -- Watching every movement, commiting to memory this boys style - but! Knives pushed down on Amber's shoulders, making assumptions about Amber's wing strenght. Thats when Akai really snapped to attention.
A mental order snaps through his head and with the quickness of a lighting bolt a gold streaks shoots from the trees, stopping only a few feet from Knive's back side, the golden dragon maw open with the sound of a hiss tearing through the air. Talons sink deep into the earth and wings spread themselves as it waited for battle.
Akai was now standing, waiting to see if Amber was ok with Ryu at Knive's back, ready to tear into him at single urging thought from Akai.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
His body language suggested a large jump the first time, hindered only by her two chi strikes. Her dark eyes took account of that; her concentration focused on the flow of movement from him. Sides steps to the left and to the right evaded his attacks...so he would think. A bare touch of the groud and he had leapt up; meanwhile Amber would begin to float down.
Thus the point where the swords clashed with a loud clang! Coming towards them, Vis Vires had taken effect and the energy gust was heading straight for Knives. Amber was not worried, being that it was her own attack it would be much less painful on her own body than it would be on her opponent.
But something did worry her; Knives had grasped her shoulder and pushed her. Her wings not as strong as stamina, Amber's body would drop at a fast rate, like a stone. The Vis Vires chi gust changed direction, dead set on attacking Knives. Either it will dissapate or it would hit him the moment he slowed in his movement!
{Now for the fall...}
No! My wings! The pain, it'll be too much!
Think fast, act fast! Her arms crossed her chest, her palms facing the ground behind her. The sword in her right hand now pointed to the ground and her pendulum cupped in her left.
Save me from my fall...
Merely feet from hitting the ground, she released a simultaneous gust of chi. It meshed together, creating a cradle of wind for her wings to catch. For a matter of seconds, Amber seemed to levitate a foot and a half from the ground before the energy absorbed back into her body. Those precious seconds gave Amber enough time to push her body forward and land safely on her feet; one smooth continuous flow and a near natural move from a moment of panic.
As she tried to regain her breath, a drastic change in the half-angel's eyes, the dark voids became darker (if it was at all possible) and a scowl replaced the earlier smile on her face. A single glance at Akai (no, Ryu...) told him that she was perfecty all right. A close save for her wings, too close...

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
As Knives flew upwards through the air, he knew nothing of what was happening to Amber, focused too much on the attack that seemed to still be moving towards him. Unfortunately, his plan hadn't worked. As he reached the peak of his leap, the dog boy looked over his shoulder, forgetting that he could not see the attack; but he could hear it. As he heard the "whoosh" sound that proved it was right behind him, Knives held his breath, and thought fast. It would catch him as he slowed his ascent and began his descent. With no hope left, he leaned his weight to the side, putting himself into a barrell roll, just in time for the attack to fly safely past.
With the attack above him now, Knives looked down at the ground as he fell. It was at this moment (now that he had a moment of safety to look around him), that he saw Ryu. He spun around the instant his feet hit the ground, to face the dragon with his sword clutched tightly in front of him. "H-How'd you do that?!" Knives shouted, thinking it was Amber who had summoned the dragon, rather than Akai.
But his focus was still on the attack that was coming for him. After being shocked by the dragon, he'd lost his concentration, and was no longer listening hard to see where the attack was; he simply began running towards the dragon, hoping the attack wouldn't hit him. But he didn't even look like he was going to attack it, his sword wasn't at ready and he wasn't watching it intently. Instead, he leapt over it, and turned to keep running in some other direction, trying to focus his ears again to find the "whoosh" sound that signalled where the attack was.

Knives', was he still on his gaurd, while running towards the dragon? Well, it didn't matter - The beast was superior in strength and speed, one moment Knives was watching, the next the distance between them was taken away - The talons slam into the shoulder of the boy with tremdous force, it was like running head into a mack truck.
Ryu pinned him to the ground, those glowing golden eyes burn brightly in the close proximity, the maw opens wide, lowering around Knives' neck - the breath of dragon was beyond volcanic - burning the exposed skin before him - thick fangs rest against the skin, ready to pierce the kneck, ready to kill.
Should Knives' move, the pressure increased, more threathing.

Akai gripped his head, pain shot through corridors of his mind, it was upon him again -- The Riot of the Mind -- A growl of primal fury escaped pass his lips, his blood was running hot, as hot as the sun, with those glowing eyes burning like that orb in sky. He didn't even look to see if Amber was indeed ok, all he could think about was how Knives and the pain coursing through.
In an instant, he was standing above Knives - he lowered down to one knee, drawing his hand back, finger tip curl into that claw like manner. Eyes go wide, a purely derange expression was set in those eyes.
Pulling back further, muscles grew more taut -- he held it there, the moment to strike was upon - but something was holding him back, mabye it was the pain, or maybe it was his consciousness -- But he suddenly pulled back, all together, another growl of that pure primal fury was forced into the air.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Fortunately for Knives, the Vis Vires vanished back into the energy that existes everywhere; time was up and it did not reach its target. Unfortunately for him, Akai-er Ryu was not in the best of moods, pinning Knives down on the ground. The winged girl didn't move at first; was she going to let the dragon attack Knives?
Of course not, her dark eyes set on her friend in wait. Pain, she felt it not in an empathetic way. The bond between Amber and Akai was not something that could be explain by words. He didn't strike Knives and instead pulled back with all his might.
A moment of safety...
Amber walked over to her friend, dropping her sword before she would reach him. There she would stand, looking down at Knives with a calm expression (Don't worry). her hand reached out and pressed against Akai's back.
"Akai. Settle in your center." Words from their first lessons in Tai Chi when they first met; to ground one's energy and find a center of calm.
Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Knives wasn't paying attention; he was running from the attack, not worried about the dragon. After all, he wasn't threatening the dragon, his sword wasn't even raised in an attack, and his eyes were focused elsewhere. Unfortunately, while all of those things *should* have dissuaded Ryu from attacking him, they did not, and actually were quite bad for Knives. One instant he was running, the next he was pinned to the ground, with the dragon's teeth around his neck. His eyes were closed, his face contorted into a look of pain from the scorching-hot breath on his skin.
With no other ideas, he lifted his hands and placed them on the dragon's chest, his feet on the dragon's lower abdomen. All limbs were bent, but the muscles in them were flexed and ready, about to push the dragon from atop him: he was going to die if he did nothing, better to die fighting, right? But before he did anything, he opened his eyes, just in time to see the look upon Amber's face.
The dragon wasn't moving, it was ready but didn't kill him yet. Apparently Amber was doing something.
He sat there, watching with wide eyes, his breathing shallow, as every breath moved his neck, and caused great pain to the burn mark, which was getting worse with each passing second. Knives could only hope that whatever Amber was doing would work, and that it would work soon...

Re: Parallel Days (Open)Ryu
It wasn't a large dragon, roughly bigger than a full grown golden retriever -- it stood three feet at the shoulder blade when on all fours -- and nerely three times as long. Wings unfurled, the beast glistened as the light reflected off of those golden scales.
Knives' made a move, his feet pressing against the stomach of the beast, hands touching against the soft underbelly to the beast's chest, Knives made a move. The dragon fangs nearly snapped shut on instinct, but something was holding it - the pressure, it did increase - to the point where it would pierce the skin.
The hide talons dig deep into the earth, the razor sharp claws anchoring themselves into the earth. While the front talons pressure increased on Knives' shoulder, this dragon was far stronger than he could hope to be.

In pain, hovering over Knives and Ryu - just one thought, just one single thought kept that dragon from snapping those powerful jaws shut. Amber moved next to Akai, her hand pressing into his back, words guiding him to settle down, center himself.
The derange expression was one that changed with a mercurial shift, changed to reflect the intense pain that raged on inside of him. An outlet was needed, he needed to inflict pain, to inflict pain on the one laying before him, to inflict this pain upon Knives.
". . .just make the pain go away!"
He took a step back instead, eyes shimmering into that pale poweder blue where Amber could see the blood shots etched throughout them. Leaning forward, he was almost doubling over into himself as a scream of pain shattered that silence again, fingers still clutch tight, taut against the skull.
". . .Amber, stop me!"
In that one moment, Akai reared back his hand -- held steady, he was ready to strike at Knives - to end it

"Then forgive me for what I must do, Akai."
A snap of her wrist and the pendulum slipped out of the sleeve of her dress. It was glowing violet until she the winged girl closed her eyes and chanted something in Latin. gather chi, gather the flow of energy and let it pool into the holy crystal.
"Nihil proficiat inimicus in nobis..."
He reeled his hand back...The pendulum pulsed a light-blue light and once again Amber pressed her hand into Akai's back, the crystal pressing into his flesh. A pulse of a heartbeat and suddenly Akai would feel searing-hot sensation on his back; not burning flesh but burning his spirit. The hot would cool down and hopefully help Akai calm his body before Knives would be in deeper trouble.
Find your center, ground your body and let everything flow...
Re: Parallel Days (Open)
A crunch of ground on one side; then on the other. He could hear the talons digging into the earth, and knew it was over. His eyes closed tightly as he felt teeth piercing his neck; only a couple more seconds of this terrible situation, and he would be dead. His whole body tightened, his heart was beating like crazy and adrenaline was pumping; he was scared out of his mind, he didn't want to die. He had just made too many mistakes so far in this battle.
"I shouldn't have ignored the dragon...I shouldn't have waited, I should've kicked the dragon off of me before he latched himself to the ground....or....I don't know....just....please, God, please don't let me die here!" Knives's mind was going a mile a minute, thoughts and images rushing through it uncontrollably.
He didn't even know what Akai was doing, his only focus was on the dragon. Even then, he was too worked up to really pay much attention; he wasn't looking, wasn't listening. He even stopped breathing, holding it in, afraid that one shallow breath would expand his throat enough for the fang to pierce something dangerous.
"I can't believe this is happening. This is the end....if Amber can't fix this...if she doesn't hurry up, and I die of suffocation...."

Cold as ice, blue as Akai's eyes, connection made! Amber lifted the pendulum from his back, clasping her hand around the ice-cold crystal tight. Amber patted Akai's back before making a leap short leap in the air.
Right on the back...
And she floated down, her wings trying to keep her aloft and her arm reaching out to press the pendulum onto the dragon's back. Pulses of ice and heat would coarse through its body, a gradual pain as a reconnection between Ryu and Akai was attempted. There was still the danger of the dragon thrashing from pain and hitting her in midair.

Re: Parallel Days (Open) [The Riot of the Mind]
She touched at his back -- creating her mark, the senation would have made a lesser man scream in pain, but the Akai was in pain - intense, firey, another howl released itself from his throath. His stopped maybe an inch or two away from smashing Knives' head into the ground.
While she ascended, the dragons grip around the neck of Knives steadily increased its pressure, the mental restraint Akai had -- keeping it from snapping the boys the necks was steadily lossening, the leash it was on was. . .disappearing.
Then Amber's pendulum touched to it's back, the searing hot senation running through out it's body - the maw opened wide, shocked was this being, this manifestation of Akai's spirit. It reered back from Knives, his neck was safe -- the scalding hot breath no longer seering his skin -- the tail on the other hand, did thrash - slicing through the air and crashing into Amber's side.
One talon slices into Knives shoulder, the right talon, meaning his left shoulder. Blood will be drawn. Amber's efforts though, fruitful -- the dragon was soon a fading away, a burst of ethereal flame appears, the beast returning to it's home, inside of Akai - sealed away, for now.
-
Akai kept huddled to himself as the pain did not go away, it coursed through every fiber of his being, but he looked so incontrol -- in a controlled state of pure pain and rage. Not a word was being said.
Re: Parallel Days (Open) [The Riot of the Mind]
The dragon moved his mouth. That was all that Knives needed: for his neck to be freed. With that, he slid himself away from underneath the beast, pushing himself away. He didn't escape in time to save himself from the talon, and he did grunt and cringe from the pain as his flesh was torn. But it didn't matter; he needed to escape while he had the chance. And he did; once out from underneath the dragon, he quickly pushed himself onto his feet and leapt away, moving to a safe distance.
At that moment, he saw the tail, and its target: Amber. He blinked; he hadn't realized she was even on the dragon's back. That made it more difficult; he had already moved away from Ryu, and at this distance, would be unable to make it to them in time to protect Amber from the tail. As he ran towards the two of them, he could only watch as the tail flew towards her. At the last minute, he closed his eyes and leapt forward, extending his arms. He didn't see the impact, but if it did hit, he would be there to catch her when she went flying from the impact: it was the best he could do.
Through all of this, he ignored his pain. The burn mark on his neck (which still stung harshly in the open air), the tooth marks around his throat, and the deep cut in his shoulder that made any movement of his arm leave a stabbing pain. All of it was worth it, if he could keep his friend, Amber, from being harmed by the fall.
