Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Trial of Existence(Dango + Knives)”The Void touches all. It is the absence which you fear, the panic of the unknown, the loss of something or everything. It creeps around every corner, stalks you every second of your existence. You are never safe from it, nor can you stop it. It will happen and you will accept it. The Void is nothingness in its purest form, yet it will become everything you know.”
-Zek’shin, on the Trial of Existence
It was strangely calm night at Manga High this evening. The overcast of clouds buried the school grounds in darkness, making it almost impossible to see your own feet. The only noise that could be heard for miles was the light breeze rustling through the trees of the Forest of Itami. No animal was about, no insects crawling through the trees, nothing but a lone figure making his way through the darkness. This evening, that would all change…
Evan Shadeston made his way through the twisting maze of trees that lay before him. The hissing voice of “reason” had beckoned his presence inside the forest. Of course, the compelling need to obey that voice came over him again and his body led him to this place, like a sleepwalker in a nightmare. The darkness around him parted under the power of his eyes, the shadows fading in his mind so that he could clearly see the path he needed to take. The only problem was, where was he leading himself to?
After an eternity of sneaking through boughs and bushes, Evan’s feet stopped him at a small clearing. The clouds had parted just enough to let a beam of moonlight cover the area. Before him was a scar of pure darkness, a wound in existence itself. He could feel the chaotic energies pulsate from it. He knew this was what he had been led to by his unconscious mind. What it was was still a mystery to him, but he felt some sort of kinship with the shadowed scar as it was the only other thing that gave off the presence of whatever twisting nether he wielded. And so, on this night of shadows and cultist scenery straight from any witchcraft novel, Evan stood before the gates of hell itself and felt for once in his life: I belong here…
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Well, I still say not thinking is the best way to think!" -Alex Summers, thinking about thinking
OOC: I hope "two more" means open >.> otherwise i wasted time on this for nothing....haha
Tonight was a strange night. For some reason, nothing was happening; despite the heightened senses of the dog boy, Knives could not hear anything at all - no forest creatures, not even the chirping of crickets or the buzzing of some insect. And that was strange...there were always noises for Knives's German Sheppard ears to pick up. It was one of the things he enjoyed about nature. Something was amiss, and he couldn't understand what. So, since this whole situation struck him as odd, he felt the urge to explore - moreso than he usually would on his nighttime adventures - and find out what, exactly, was wrong on the campus.
As Knives wandered down the path cut into the forest, his deep blue eyes were constantly searching, drifting back and forth around the area in front of him. He was worried that something was there; maybe it was an attacker who had silenced the forest. Yet, unfortunately, simply looking around didn't do much good...it was far too dark, this late at night, and the thick canopy of trees above and around him blocked out any light that could be shining down from the moon. Which was where his dog-like senses became useful; he could also sniff the air, and get an even better picture of who or what was around him than he could ever with just his eyesight. And thus far, he smelled nothing but the normal forest scents....trees, soil, etc.
Suddenly, a new scent drifted upon him. It was the scent of a human; or at least, a meta-human. Knives's ears perked up, and he inhaled deeply, sniffing to find where the scent had come from. Immediately, he turned his body in that direction, and cut through the forest, letting the smell of the other student lead him to his destination. It took a few moments, as Knives had to duck and dodge the trees, branches, and roots that seemed to become more tightly packed the deeper he delved into the forest. But, finally, he burst through into a clearing.
And what he saw was shocking. He barely even noticed the other student, though it was Evan that Knives had thought he was looking for. Instead, his eyes fell upon what seemed like a tear in the air in front of him, with nothing but darkness within. The dog boy's eyes widened in surprise, and even a little bit of fear, and his ears drooped slightly as well at the sight. At first, he couldn't find the words; then, they came to him, carrying a loud and shocked tone. "What the hell is this!"
He quickly glanced at the other student. Did this other boy cause that? But Knives shook his head a little; no, there was no way it was his fault. He blinked a few times, before returning his gaze on the scar before both of them. What could it be?

Welcome, Vicegrip.
Our helicopter has picked up unusual readings from the forest outside of Manga High school. Full report is needed ASAP.
That was it, that was all the message read. Now she was standing at the entrance of the forest with a high powered UV flashlight in her right hand, and a backlit navigational system in her left. She wasn't stupid, she knew she would of gotten lost in those woods without it.
Still, it was obvious that she really didn't know what she was suppose to be looking for - something unusual? Everything in this place was unusual.
Lord knew, if she didn't have an assignment, she wouldn't of went in those woods after dark for any reason.
The dome shaped light cut through the darkness in front of Dango as she started her journey, illuminating everything in an eerie indigo light. She saw beady eyes staring at her everytime she stepped forward, she heard the trees and bushes around her rustle from the sound of scurrying little feet.
Sometimes, she just hated this job.
Her breath was getting heavier the deeper she was in, however, she still wasn't seeing anything unusual - maybe she was going the wrong way?
Dango stopped, and looked towards the navigation system. If she walked any further, she would end up heading towards the exit. She turned her flashlight towards the left, and to the right, by now she was getting used to seeing her 'forest companions'.
Wait.
Dango flashed the light around her again, towards the north east side of her -
"Strange"
The dome shaped light which had so easily illuminated the area seemed to - end, disappearing into a patch of darkness. That was impossible, maybe she was seeing things?
She turned around, shone the light somewhere else, and sure enough she saw her clear path. Now, back to the patch of darkness - still the same results.
Her body visably cringed, stepping into darkness like that was like stepping into the gates of hell itself.
Stupid Agency.
But, she really had no choice did she?
As she headed in the direction of the darkness the light coming from the flash light seemed to get swallowed up the closer and closer she got until - until the light disappeared completly and Dango was forced to turn it off.
Now she was standing there, looking into the darkness, feeling how heavy the air was around it. She was staring into it as if her eyes couldn't turn away, as if her body refused to walk forward or backwards.
What was something like this doing here?
"What the hell is this!"
A voice. It snapped her out of her trance as she looked towards the source. It was too dark, she couldn't make out the person right away, though it sounded like -
"Knives? What are you doing - ?"
Then she spotted another figure, why was Knives here with someone? Nobody should of been here - least of all, Dango herself.
Her eyes narrowed, somebody had to come up with answers soon before she decided to jump into the darkness herself.
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Evan looked at the shadowed wound witha raised eyebrow. Its energy was calling him forth, begging him to be near. He could feel his own energy crackle into little sparks around his hands, the colour not unlike his dark orchid eyes. His curosity was only building the longer he stared at the gap in reality. What was it here for? Why was he drawn to it? So many question and very few answers.
Not being able to stand the anticipation any longer, Evan slowly reached out and stuck his hand into the wound. It slipped in very quickly, a dark mist wrapping around his hand. It felt cold like the chill of death and floated around, just skimming his exposed flesh lightly. Then, something jerked him towards the portal as his hand was gripped by...something! He could feel a suction pulling him in and his hand was now ina very viscous feeling substance. Luckily, Evan's reflexes had prevailed and his hand was pulled out with some effort. What had just grabbed him? He inspected his hand to see what had grabbed him and found it covered in a thick, black ooze. It felt just as cold as the mist, yet slowly dripped off, seemingly hanging in the air even as it dropped to the ground. Had the mist really changed properties so quickly? The sludge certainly looked like the complete darkness that the protal was made of.
There was little time to wonder about that now. A few seconds after Evan had gotten his hand out, something was reaching out from the other side of the vortex. As the being came out, Evan backed up a few steps to have some distance between him and the creature. It looked to be exactly like a muscle bound human. His skin was a dark and dusky gray; his pants and vest black with golden trim and swirling designs. He stood even over Evan, taller than almost any student or teacher on campus. It was the eyes, though, that attracted the most attention. Pure nothingness was there. The purest of black was where his eyes should have been, like looking into a void that simply was but had no purpose. It faced Evan directly, looking as if it was starring directly at the boy. He raised his arm and pointed at the student before him, not even showing the slightest of emotion.
"EEEEEVVVAAAAAAANNN!" it bellowed in that same snakey voice that directed him to this place.
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Dango found herself looking in the direction of the other stranger, one who looked like the rollerskater boy she met a couple of days ago.
The next thing she saw was him struggling with the darkness, as if it was trying to pull him into the void. She wanted to run towards him, to help him for whatever reason she didn't even know, but he already freed himself.
"EEEEEVVVAAAAAAANNN!"
"Wha - ?"
Oh, she clearly saw what was coming towards him, if there even was a name for it. Was that void hell itself, or was it just a manifest of Evan's inner demons?
"Evan! Get the fuck away from that thing!!"
She ran towards him, not even knowing why she was getting herself involved. Through the darkness she ran towards him, her hand snatching around his wrist in an effort to pull him back before the gooey mess consumed him.
"Whatever the hell that thing is, I doubt its just here for a friendly dance!"
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
((Just because I saw some stuff that clashes with what I explained, I'll do an explaination of the area. It's a small clearing inside a forest, overcast outside with a crack in the clouds so that only the clearing is cast in moonlight. Everything else is dark enough to hamper vision to about three feet. There's a human sized slash in the middle of the grove of pure black. The person that came out looks exactly like a human, aside from the skin colour and his eyes. The goo came from inside the portal. Hope that clears stuff up.))
Everything happened so fast. His brain was trying to keep up with everything but it was so difficult. The screaming coming from that girl, the being that had called out his name, the ooze that was slowly sliding off his hand and infecting the ground with it's pitch black darkness. Before he could take in everything around him, his arm was already up to block Dango's attempt at grabbing his hand. He could feel the grip around his arm instead, pulling him towards safety. At least she wouldn't be writhing on the ground in pain.
His mind then caught up on the current events and he quickly tugged back to stop himself and Dango in their tracks. His urge to see what that void was still hung around his head. This person, creature...thing might be the candidate to give some answers. With that determination for information in mind he now stood strong at the sight of the being. So much for intimidation by omnipotence!
"Who are you!?" Evan demanded. His tone was sharp and his voice corrosive to the soul.
"I am the one to demand things, mortal..." the being replied. "Do not mettle in the afairs of those who control your destiny!
After the exchange of words, Evan decided to back off. Whoever this was, he certainly felt like he had seniority. It also disturbed him that the person knew who he was, so he must have known what he could do. This gave a serious disadvanatge and started to get under Evan's skin. He was visibly shaking now, fearing sick inside. If there was anything Evan hated it was having people behind his back. Now knowing someone had been searching him out was mroe earth shaking than anything else that the shadowy humanoid wielded above the boy's head.
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Dango went back with Evan, pulled back to stay right where she was - still beside Evan and directly in front of the whatever it was.
Dango wasn't as fearful as Evan, it wasn't after her, it was after him. Part of her wondered why she was still standing there, taking on something that had nothing to do with her.
"Who are you!?"
Exactly what she was wondering.
"I am the one to demand things, mortal... Do not mettle in the affairs of those who control your destiny!
Damn. Dango was just glad noone was mettling in the affairs of her destiny. Her chestnut hues were focused on it, and then on Evan's shaking figure, then to her bracelet.
She stepped back, turning on the lcd screen that lit up to life. Only, all she was getting was steady red and green lines.
"Nothing?"
She looked towards it, her eyes narrowing. How was that possible? No readings at all?
Should she move Evan? Should she try talking to the thing herself - and what of Knives? Surely he was just as confused as she was.

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Dango had shown up in the clearing. But he was expecting her; he had been for a few minutes now, since he'd caught her scent from a long ways off. When he heard her come out from the forest, and rustle the bushes and tree branches around her, his ears twitched and he turned his head to look at her. He gave her a small smile, but it wasn't anything like usual - this wasn't a moment for Knives to be crazy or funny like he generally was. He had to be serious now; at least until he found out if this...thing....was good or bad.
Once she'd shown up, though, he went over to her, moving in a sort of side-step fashion fairly slowly. Once he'd found himself next to her, he said, "Hey, Dango...." He felt as if he shouldn't take his eyes off of the scar in front of him, as if some sort of dangerous aura was coming from it. But he didn't listen to that logic, and turned his head to look at Dango beside him. "Do...you know what that is?"
But before he could get an answer, the other student stuck his hand into the scar. It seemed to disappear, enveloped by the darkness that was within it. Knives's eyes widened, and his ears drooped, giving him a sort of shocked, worried expression. He immediately stepped forward, in Evan's direction, reaching out with his hand - not to grab him, but rather, with his palm outward, in a way as to sort of warn him to stop.
"Wait! I wouldn't --" But it was too late, Evan had already done it. Knives looked on, his ears still drooping, waiting for something to happen. And it did; As he noticed the other student begin to struggle with some sort of force within, Knives jumped another step forward again, expecting his help to be needed. But he had nothing to do, no way to help. So his arms hung at his sides, palms upwards, as he tried to find some usefulness in the situation. But it quickly came to him that he wasn't needed yet; Evan had been able to escape.
Knives let out a sigh of relief, but it was relief that was short-lived. When he lifted his eyes back to look at the scar, something else, something strange, had happened. Some sort of creature or being actually stepped out from the darkness; Knives blinked at the sight. It seemed completely human, in all physical aspects of the word. Yet, as the dog boy's sensitive nose sniffed the air, he smelled something....different about it. He couldn't quite place it....
As Evan and the being began to interact, Knives simply stood back, watching. He blinked a few times as he tried to make sense of what was going on; he really didn't understand the purpose of the being's arrival, or why it would want Evan so bad. How would he have been meddling "in the afairs of those who control [his] destiny!" So, rather than speak up, or interfere in any way, he simply watched, his eyes glancing back and forth between the two.
And then he noticed the being's effects on Evan. As Knives looked at him, he could tell that Evan was becoming angered, through not only the look on his face, but the tense body language that he was showing. It was apparent that there would be a fight soon. Slowly, as if not to let anyone see, Knives moved his hand towards the hilt of the sword that hung from his belt. He would be ready to help if a battle did erupt.
"Knives, I don't like the looks of this - " He nodded in response to Dango, without turning towards her. His eyes and ears both remained completely focused on both the dark being and Evan, awaiting the battle that he was sure would begin. "Yeah, I know. Uhhm...Dango...you might want to go hide or somethin....I think there might be a fight soon. And you're a normal human...." He said this in a low tone, as if he didn't want the other two to hear. He took the risk of a quick glance at her, to see her reaction, before turning back to the being. "I'm afraid you might get hurt..."

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)"Yeah, I know. Uhhm...Dango...you might want to go hide or somethin....I think there might be a fight soon. And you're a normal human...."
Ouch. That stung.
"I may be just a normal human, but I can handle my own"
"I'm afraid you might get hurt..."
"You - are?"
The general worry in Knives voice was something Dango wasn't use to, coming from anyone. As far as Dango knew, noone in the school cared if she lived or died. Mind you, part of that was Dango's fault - but she had a job to do, she couldn't afford to have anyone get too close.
"What about you? If this guy can't handle his own demons, or whatever that thing is, what makes you think you have a chance? I'm not leaving to see something happen to you either, so you might as well just get use to it"
Was it true? These feelings she was developing for Knives, the nuetral concern. Could it really be that Dango was actually making a friend?
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
"Why d-don't you two st-stop chattering and get f-f-focused!" Evan managed to say, pulling arm away from Dango with a jerk.
He had no clue what exactly this thing was or what it wanted, but it had said his destiny was in it's hands. If anything, that was what scared Evan the most. He was no puppet and he had been controled by society enough in one life time to put up with this. Yes, he was scared, but that didn't matter. He clenched his fists with such intensity that they began to shake, his body tensed up and the fear couldn't over take him any longer. Only one thing ran through his head as he prepared himself for the worst: "Even the bravest are scared sometimes, but it's not knowing fear itself, but over coming it when things matter most." With two tohers here, he wasn't sure how much more it could count now.
"Excellent..." the being said, chuckling a little afterwards. You are ready..."
"The Void touches all. It is the absence which you fear, the panic of the unknown, the loss of something or everything. It creeps around every corner, stalks you every second of your existence. You are never safe from it, nor can you stop it. It will happen and you will accept it. The Void is nothingness in its purest form, yet it will become everything you know. Ready yourself Shade, Ms. Vice and Mr. Angelico, for the trials begin here...
With his speech finished, the being slipped back into the scar and disappeared from view. The shadowy wound then became distorted a wavy before fading out of existance completely. What was that man talking about? Trials!? What was so special about him, or the pair of people that seemed to be tagging along? Unfrotunately, there was no one here to answer his questions now. All he could do was wait to see what these trials were and hope he could come out on top.
"And it's Shadeston, you dolt!" he grumbled, to finish his thought.
"You - are? Knives nodded, and then took another quick glance at her, to give her a small smile. "Of course I am! You're my friend, I want you to be safe!" He immediately returned his gaze upon the being before them. But his focus was still somewhat on Dango; the being seemed to have stopped talking for a short moment, and it and Evan were both standing there, silently. Knives stared at the two of them, watching intently, waiting for something to happen; but he still whispered to Dango. "If you want to stay and fight...then I have no choice." He gave her another smile, but this time, his eyes remained on the shadowy being before them. "I'll protect you."
Suddenly, Evan spoke. What he said was not very important; but the way he said it was what caught Knives's attention. His words were stuttered, and his voice sounded frightened. Knives looked over at Evan, eyes wide; the other student did not have a very heavy build, and seemed to be rather weak physically...but Knives could somehow tell that he was pretty strong. The way Evan carried himself made him seem as if he wasn't usually afraid. But now, he seemed very afraid. Knives blinked; if someone like that was scared, maybe he should be too?
Knives took a step sideways, moving himself closer to Dango. Now, he was standing slightly in front of Dango, putting himself between her and the monster before them. When the being spoke, Knives turned his whole attention on it, listening to the words it was saying. Most of the words did not seem to reach him; but he did catch "The Void is nothingness in its purest form, yet it will become everything you know. Ready yourself Shade, Ms. Vice and Mr. Angelico, for the trials begin here..." He blinked...nothingness? Everything will become nothingness?
Before he could ponder it too much, his mind came to the realization that his name was mentioned. He blinked again, his ears perking up to reveal his surprise. He looked at the being for several moments, and then reached towards his sword. At the mention of trials, Knives definitely expected a battle. His finger cluthed around the hilt of the sword, and drew it a few inches, the silvery blade glinting in the moonlight, which shone only on this clearing.
But he wasn't able to draw it all of the way before the being disappeared into the scar once again. Knives watched as the scar faded from view. He blinked. "Is it over?"
"But....it can't be over....there're supposed to be trials, right?" he thought to himself.

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)"Of course I am! You're my friend, I want you to be safe!"
Now what was Dango suppose to say to that? Maybe 'thank you?'.
"If you want to stay and fight...then I have no choice."
Oh great, here it comes.
"I'll protect you."
Well, that was unexpected. Dango found herself staring at Knives with wide eyes, knowing she should of stopped Knives right there. Not because she didn't want him as a friend, but because of the cardinal rule - she inadvertly put friends in danger.
Dango forced herself to look back at Evan, and at the void.
"You have got to be kidding me? That's it? The great and mighty Oz telling us to watch our backs? I bet you there is some pitiful little man hiding behind a curtain! Follow the yellow brick road he will say! Find the red ruby slippers and pour water on a witch! This is ridiculous!"
Dango threw her arms in the air, grumbling underneath her breath. It didn't even occur to her that the 'shadow' obviously knew something about her to know her last name. But that was Dango wasn't it? Throw a wisecrack, act cool and collected, show no fear even if it existed.
Make acquaintances to get the job done, never get close.
"Is it over?"
"With Oz's ego, I doubt it. I say we head back to the school, unless you have any other ideas. Oh, and for the record Evan, you have some pretty fucked up friends."
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Evan looked over at Knives who had moved up right beside him, obviously to protect Dango who was directly behind him. He had heard the little heroics the boy was displaying and Evan rolled his eyes. Though Evan would protect a friend, he didn't need to make a show of it. There wasn't even anyone to watch it, which was the sad part. He then looked back over to Dango as she made her little comment about the shadey other worlder being his friend.
"Like he'd ever be good enough to be my...oh....fuck..."
Evan's eyes widened with fear as he finally realised what exactly the trials were. Off in the woods, his eyes caught sight of something he had never imagined could be true. Something was creeping through the trees and he ment literally through the trees. Their bodies were pitch black. Even with his powers he couldn't see through them. Moving like ghosts, the figures came closer, making no sound at all. It was terrifying to watch. Evan quickly spun around to run the other way but more of them were coming. They were surrounded and the other two didn't even know it. He tried to say something, but as he opened his mouth the words got caught and nothing came out. All he could was point into the forest with a very shakey hand.
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Knives laughed a little at Dango. His heart had been beating fast under the circumstances, but now that the scar had faded, it seemed that his heartbeat did too. And, as the adrenaline rush seemed to disappear from him, Knives realized that a lot of things were funnier than usual....it was a side-effect of being scared. So he scratched his head, his whole body much more relaxed now, and let out a sigh. "Well, I guess we'll just have to watch ourselves, huh? You wanna go back to the school now?"
One of the dog boy's hands extended in Dango's direction, reaching out towards her hand, as if in motion to grasp it; but he was very prepared to move to her shoulder instead if it seemed she didn't respond to his movement. But before he could do anything else, Knives noticed Evan's exclamation - "...oh....fuck...". As soon as the words reached his ears, the dog boy spun his head around to look in Evan's direction.
What he saw was the same look he had seen before, when the shadowy being had been in front of him. It was a wide-eyed look of fear, as the boy's eyes shifted around, looking into the darkness that surrounded the group. Knives blinked, and tilted his head as he watched Evan try to run off, only to stop dead in his tracks. Curious, the dog boy averted his gaze to the forest around them, in search of whatever he could see. But not only was he unable to peirce the darkness with his eyes; he couldn't hear or smell anything - at all. So, with a shrug, he turned back to Evan.
"Uhhm...are you alright? I don't smell or hear anything....so...I think we're safe..."

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)"Well, I guess we'll just have to watch ourselves, huh? You wanna go back to the school now?"
"I don't know. Something just doesn't - well, something doesn't seem right"
As Dango spoke, her eyes were focused on the LCD screen of her bracelet. The readings were still steady lines, which only meant one thing - the 'void' was still there. She didn't want to lead on to anything, especially with Knives around. She liked him - she liked him alot, but he was already asking too many questions, already getting too close.
Her wrist fell to her side, her focus now on Evan as he pointed towards what seemed to be nothing. But it wasn't nothing, it couldn't of been, not with the way the coldness was invading Dango's body.
"Uhhm...are you alright? I don't smell or hear anything....so...I think we're safe..."
"I don't think we are"
Slender fingertips reached for the stun gun, the other hand reached for the powerful uv flashlight. If Dango's theroy was correct -
"Toto, I think Kansas left us about 10 seconds ago"
Her thumb flicked on the stun gun while her other hand flicked off the covering of the uv flashlight. Dango bit down on her lower lip and with one smooth move the electrical wave of the stun gun met with the UV light - -
A wave of powerful light shot out towards the direction Evan was pointing towards, its brillant high intensity ray shooting past him and towards 'nothingness'.
The object? Well, that was simply to create UV light more intense then the sun itself. The result? That was still to be detremined.
((ooc: I was hoping that maybe the beam of light would be powerful enough for a quick flash outline of what the 'beings' are. Its of course, up to you hellsy))
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
The beam of light quickly shot out, parting the darkness as it went. It was an eerie glow, almost like the small beam of moonlight that covered the clearing, but it was welcome none the less. Evan lowered his hand slowly as the light shone out, knowing they would see and they could protect thmselves. Everything was going to be alright. At least, as good as a situation like this could get! But that wasn't the case.
Darkness! Pure darkness and nothing could penetrate it. The light was stuck in the enveloping shadows that even it couldn't pierce the frightfully camoflouging viel that hid their enemies. Worry was starting over come Evan once again as he felt the impending doom of the creatures coming in on them. Just then, he realised why the light was only going so far. In his panic he wasn't concentrating, his power of darkvision failing him at the time. It wasn't that it didn't break the barrier of shadows that encased them in the clearing at all! It was...
Before anything else could be said, two red glowing slits appeared right where the flashlight shone and one of the shadow creatures lept out at Evan. He could hardly believe it. His life was going to end right here and now by some sort of monster he didn't even know, in some trial he really didn't care for, because some person he was deathly afraid of said he had to! Closing his eyes a praying for a miracle, Evan waited for his impending doom.
The force of the creature struck him like a linebacker on the blitz. His body was taken to the ground as his body hit hard. The two slid right past the two other children and he quickly realised that it was going to be over. Evan opened his eyes, not able to take the suspence of not knowing what was happening aside from his premature death. He was then looking straight into the eye of the hurricane. A smile from ear to ear, if it had any, that was as red and the two evil slit eyes that creature had. The rest was shadows, humanoid in nature with the nothingness burning off of it in a thick smoke. One hand was raised with razor sharp claws for finger as it was about to strike. Just then, his prayer had been answered!
"Kick up and roll back!" the snaky voice instructed. As always, evan follow obidiently.
Putting his foot on the void creature's chest, Evan kciked upwards as hard as he could possibly manage in the position he was in. The creature went flying back into the protective viel of shadow and Evan rolled up to his feet as he slid to a stop some ten feet away from the other two. He didn't even know what had happened himself, but he was safe and that was all that mattered at the moment. Quickly moving back to the other two, he put his back to them, knowing he would have to trust them if he was going to live.
Just as the boy made it back to his friends, the shade beings came out from the barrier, dark chains rattling in their hands. The same mist that had created these masters started to flow up from the ground. In seconds, a large pack of quadraped abberations came to life and were held back by the same chains the first shadow beings had. The dog-like creatures only had one noticable difference from their possible kanine bretheren. Their faces were flatened out, replacing the head and snout with a worn like face. The mouth was a circle with a meat grinding set of teeth to mince their prey with. Three large tusks sprouted from their "faces", probably the only things with a bit of colour, if only being white. Their eyes were on either sides of their heads, though it was clear they were able to see infront of themselves jsut as well. These horrors of any little child's nightmare had come to life right before their eyes, and something told Evan they didn't want to play fetch!

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
Just like the other two, Knives peered into the forest, where the light shone. He blinked. At first, he saw nothing - nothing but darkness. That is, until he realized that the darkness, in itself, was the key issue. Darkness did not usually swallow light, as it did in this situation. At the sight of this strange phenomenon, Knives grasped his sword's hilt again; though this time, he did not draw it. He remained in a ready position, tensed for battle, expecting it to erupt at any time.
And it did. When the monster within the forest attacked Evan, Knives immediately drew his sword, the soft "shink" sound penetrating the stillness of the night as the blade swiped across the hard plastic of the sheath so quickly. As the monster flew past him, Knives clutched his sword out in front of him again, just like before, expecting the attack to focus on all of them, including him and Dango.
It didn't. When Knives realized Evan was the one under attack, he lowered his sword slightly; his heart slowed its beat, as he calmed down a little. That is, until he realized that, though Knives himself wasn't under attack, his new comrade in this battle was. But by the time he had prepared himself to lunge at the monster, Knives saw that it had ended its attack, and Evan was safe again.
When Evan came to stand next to Knives and Dango, Knives tensed himself again. He spread his feet wide across the ground, giving him a lower center of gravity, and allowing him to adjust his weight easily for when he would need to attack. But he did nothing more yet. A bead of sweat rolled down his forehead, past his eye, and down his cheek. That ticklish feeling was all that he felt for a silent moment, as he studied the situation before him. As his blue eyes fell upon each monster, he couldn't help but think that each one was worse and more grotesque than the last.
He opened his mouth to say something to Evan. But, as he spoke, he didn't turn himself at all - not even his head spun around on his shoulders. The words simply came out, hushed as if they weren't for the ears of the beasts across from them (ears, or whatever other hearing devices they had). "Uhhhm....do...do we attack now?"

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
"Oh god. Why the hell do I get dragged into this shit?"
That was all Dango could say as she watched the scene between Evan and the 'monsters' unfold. This wasn't her place, and this wasn't HER fight. She wasn't a meta human with superpowers - couldn't these void junkies see that?
"Anybody have a big stick I can throw at them?"
What a great time for a sense of humor, but at least she could see what she was up against - not much of an improvement considering.
"If one of those things even touch me, I'm going to 'trail' my foot right up that void's ass!"
Dango leapt backwards, smoothly and precisely to give enough distance and hopefully keep it. The more 'dogs from hell' that came out, the uglier they seemed to get.
"Uhhhm....do...do we attack now?"
"You guys go ahead, right now I'm just favoring getting the hell out here - "
Re: Trial of Existence(two more)
"Good luck." Evan said in a flat tone. "We're surrounded."
His head was constantly moving to see how many of these things were coming. Nine, ten, eleven, the number just didn't stop growing. Six of them were immediately surrounding them within the clearing, but he could see more coming from every direction to hunt them down. Was this the trail? If it was, he had no clue why the man was trying to kill them all. It was going to be impossible to survive an onslaught like this, especially without any fighting skills what so ever.
"Step to the left!" the voice shouted again, his mind almost bleeding from the urgency and volume.
Without question, Evan stepped to his elft as one of the dogs rushed past him in a slobering furry. The dogs had been unleashed and they were now attacking them. Twelve in total, not including the men that held them, the pack began to leap forwards as they tried to attack the group. Evan had no clue what he was going to do, but something needed to happen fast.
"Grab up and slam the dog down!" the voice commanded once again. Whoever it was, he was thankful for their help.
Putting his hands up, he felt a very cold sensation brush past them. This had to have been one of the dogs. He grabbed whatever it was as tightly as he could and slammed it into the ground. The shadow didn't even give a yelp as it's body trembled fromt he force. It simply started to get back up slowly from the force of the blow. Evan needed to do something quickly.
"Pain touch!" he yelled out, punching at the dog.
He felt the hit connect, but the creature didn't even budge. The energy from his attack simply cycled back to him. Without his abilities, he wasn't what he could do. In frustration, he kicked the dog with all the force he could muster. The creature came up off the ground and rolled away from the force of the blow. It then vanished in an explosion of the dark mist that had created it. One down, twelve to go, but without his powers it would be a challenge. Hopefulyl the others would have something that would work.
((You can control the NPCs yourself, just don't go killing them like they're one-shot hits. If you need a better explination of them, just say so and I'll Ezmail it or something.))

Re: Trial of Existence(two more)"You guys go ahead, right now I'm just favoring getting the hell out here - " Knives sighed, as Evan responded to Dango's comment. He had wholeheartedly agreed with Dango, believing that she should go somewhere safe. He cared about her safety, and was worried that, as a normal human, she might not have the power to defeat these creatures. Actually, he was scared for himself as well - even though he was pretty strong, these things seemed to be otherworldly, and it might be tough to defeat them. And, unfortunately, Evan was right. Knives glanced quickly at Dango. If she couldn't escape, he would just have to make sure she survived. With a nod to himself, he returned his focus on the beings in front of him.
The first one attacked. Unlike Evan, Knives didn't have a voice in his head; but he did have instincts. So, as it crashed through where he and Evan had been standing, the dog boy leapt to his side, kicking off of the ground hard, to send his body flying through the air. When he landed again, he found himself right next to one of the canine creatures. Immediately, he spun around, so that he was facing it, and planted his feet hard underneath him.
His grip on his sword tightened, as he held it up towards the creature in front of him. Knives's eyes closed into slits, as he glared at the monster. It seemed like a long time that they stood there, facing off against each other; but in reality, it wasn't even seconds. And then, rather suddenly, the monster attacked. Knives held up his sword to stop it, but the canine just bit the sword; as its teeth held the blade in place, Knives was unable to cut it. For a moment, they stood there, at stalemate.
Then, Knives remembered....he let go of the sword with one hand, allowing the dog to push forward slightly. Then, he focused, and his fingernails slowly formed into long, sharp claws. With a smirk on his face, Knives struck down on the creature, his clws cutting deep into its face. This caused the beast to let go of the sword, and he was able to push forward with it, slicing through the corners of the creature's mouth and deep into his head. Knives took a step back after that, looking down, and watched as it faded from existance. With a smile on his face, he spun around to await the next attacker.
