Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Terra Firma (open)
The crisp breeze made the whimsical blades of fluffy green grass bow in submission across the desolate meadow. A bright yellow-orange glow graced the horizon as the gaseous ball of light began descending slowly in the western part of the sky. Judging by the position it was resting, it could have been late afternoon or early evening, but the breeze eliminated any feeling of heat to be felt in the open area.
Standing alone in this pristine meadow was an overdressed young man. Atop his head sat a pink and black checkered fedora style hat. Just below that, a pair of rose colored glasses rested on the pointy nose in the center of the slick male's clean shaven face. A muscular chest was covered by a light pink dress shirt, which was again covered by a thin, black wool sweater. Around his neck hung a pink and black striped tie. Black trousers covered chiseled legs, and pink and black checkered Vans slip on shoes seperated his feet from the ticklish green below.
Only a few short months had passed since his powerful hands had drawn their first blood, and he was still gun shy about physical altercations with others. After seeing what he was capable of when pushed to the edge, he made a conscious decision not to again fight with another man unless there was no other course to take.
So many nice people here so far, I'm glad he sent me here. Amber and the Florez girls are spunky and fun, yet still level headed enough to be serious with. Sakura was a hard one to peg, but she was friendly enough to make my aquaintence quickly. Jun is probably the only male I've met here, though I can't complain. I can't wait to see what else this school has to offer. he thought with folded arms. The peace and quiet made him feel comfortable, but he was truly more at home in a more chaotic environment.
Turning on his heels, he began to walk into the breeze. He tipped the brim of his hat down, as to not allow it to be blown away in the wind. In his short journey across the otherwise vacant (as he observed that is) meadow, he came to a lone dandelion that had turned white and began to wither to death. He picked it in one swift motion and raised it to his lips. As he blew the petals off into the wind, they heeded the wishes of mother Gaia and her soothing breathe. Viva la Coolie!
Follow the tiny, almost translucent, bits of fluff from the dandelion : they dip and dizzy in the breeze, and some float up, others float down, but all travel with the wind. Pan downwards, about seven feet away, to the girl who is stretched out (and is, until you almost step on her, all but invisible) in the grass, her arms tucked behind her head. The ghostly waltz of the dandelion seeds are reflected in her (now) open eyes, in the black pupils.
And then one of the stray seeds dances closer, and closer to her face; she watches it come. Blinks once, and then twice. It lands on her nose. She inhales, slightly. Wait for it -
"Ahhhh...."
- waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait for it -
Louder. "Ahhhhh...."
- waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait for it -
Louder ! "Ahhh...."
And then, tiny - "Achoo!"

Re: Terra Firma (open)"Achoo!" The soft sound hardly caught Darrien's ear as he strolled along. It was only when he was a step away from crashing down into the stomach of the young lady resting in the grass did he even see her. "Bless you darlin, I hope that's allergies and not a cold. I'd hate to miss the opportunity to become of your aquaintence because of the risk of catching it." he said, offering his hand to pull her to her feet.
Fishing a hand around in his pocket he retrieved a pink, silk hanky and extended it to the girl. "I'm Darrien, have we met before?" he asked, offering the girl a soft, welcoming smile. Her face seemed vaguely familiar, maybe in passing somewhere? Not wanting his lapse in memory to be known, he elected not to ask and just continue smiling at the girl. Viva la Coolie!Edited by: Sora12 at: 7/18/06 9:06 pm
Re: Terra Firma (open)
Some people are in control of themselves. Other people are difficult to surprise. It's anyone's guess which kind of person V is : one or the other. The girl gazes (because 'stares' is too strong a word) at Darrien for a moment. Flat on the ground. The grass is a frame, and the grass is a pillow, and the grass is as green as the world is in spring. Her hand is over her mouth and her elegant pianist's fingers cover her nose, and even liquid honey isn't as gold as her gaze. He sticks out his hand and she blinks.
Then (hesitation) takes it and stands. First, tucks her legs in (knees to the side, princess - subconscious) then up in one jump. Unkempt as she ever gets : a blade of grass in her hair and a half-crushed dandelion left behind.
"Thank you," she says, "I'm not sick." She even takes the pink silk hanky, uses it to hide her face for an instant - flick of glance up. He seems okay. Her response to the smile is to remain serious - not unfriendly, just serious. It's easily misread. In fact - there is a bit of gossip about V's unfriendly, snobbish tendencies. There used to be more, but then she became friends with a handful of people you didn't want to cross. Still, teenagers gossip. It's what they do.
"I'm V; I think we met once in the hot springs, but it was only briefly. I'm not in the way of your training, am I?"
Coure meadow, as many students have found, is the perfect place to practice various martial arts.
A look of releif washed over Darrien's face. He was deathly afraid of illness, one of the reasons he ate as healthy as he did. As the girl took the handkercheif and hid, playfully as it seemed, though the true nature of the gesture was as of yet unknown to Darrien, he allowed a slight grin to creep across his lips.
"I'm V; I think we met once in the hot springs, but it was only briefly. I'm not in the way of your training, am I?"
"I do vaguely remember seeing you there, though I must admit I had forgotten your name." he said, a slight embarassing red color flooding his face. At her second question, he took a moment and, semi-mockingly, examined the clothes he was wearing. Then, tipping the hat toward her shielding his own eyes from her golden gaze, he said "No training today, just out for a walk. And you? Lying here in the grass for a nap perhaps?" he asked, running his thumb and forefinger around the brim of his hat. He thumbed the glasses up higher on his nose, rather enjoying the hallucinigenic rosey tint they gave everything.
Viva la Coolie!
Re: Terra Firma (open)
When Darrien turns red (and doesn't it go well with his pink and black wardrobe?) one side of V's mouth (just barely) curves up. Infrequent, and brief - that expression - and he's already regarding himself mockingly. Her turn, then, to flush slightly - pink cheeks. To match the swath of pink silk she still has, and now, begins to fold and twist. His gaze is hidden by the shadow of his hat, and light catches on the rose-coloured lenses; winks, sharp and jaunty.
"Oh, no. I couldn't sleep here. I was going to meditate, but ... " A brief pause. She would never shrug. The sentiment, however, remains. "Everything kept distracting me, so I was cloud watching."
At the mention of clouds, V tilts her head again (because Darrien is harmless, and harmless, and the tension which coils like a serpent at the nape of her neck whenever somebody 'new' enters the picture has eased) to look at the sky.
Re: Terra Firma (open)
Following her eyes as she raised them to scan the sky, Darrien began to wonder what had made her so intent at following the little masses of fluff and water molecules. He raises his own eyes to scan the clouds, hoping to find something he could relay to her as a conversation starter.
"They certainly take unique shapes." he said, a little flatly. The white cottony masses danced about the sky, each taking a new shape. One looked a little like a fish with a mouse riding its back, another a griffon, the mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, and several more took no discernable shape, to Darrien at least.
"Is there any particular shape you're looking for up there?" he asked, sliding himself behind her to take a better look from her perspective.
Viva la Coolie!
Re: Terra Firma (open)
"No." V half-glances over her shoulder, and up, at Darrien; his hat doesn't hide his eyes now, although his chin is another matter. There, his eyelashes; their, the underside of the pink fedora. Speaks, assurance incarnate, a thoughtful creature -- V. "I wouldn't want to force them into any shape by already having an idea. But I try to put together stories based on what's up there. They're usually incoherent."
A pause; silence. The grass ripples, a line of paler green and silk, ahead of the breeze - an ocean of green. Then V points, in example. "There's a wave. But watch it long enough ..."
Because, of course, it's much windier up high, and the clouds are racing across the sky, breaking apart and coalescing into new shapes.
" ... and now it's a bird holding a chariot in its mouth."
For V, that's a lot of speaking in one go. She'll have to be quiet for a month, now.
Re: Terra Firma (open)
Darrien tried to follow what she was looking at. He could see the wave as it cascaded across the sky, but the bird eating a chariot was another matter. Maybe it was the angle it appeared to him, or possibly his own vivid imagination, but what he saw was entirely different.
"I'm seeing what looks like an epic battle. The chariot you made out looks like an old warship kind of, and the bird looks kinda like a water monster, perhaps a kraken? Anyway, it looks like a scene straight out of the Oddysey." he said, running his fingers around his chin.
Taking his hat from his head and running a hand through the multi-colored locks of hair that it hid. spinning slightly he picked out another formation. "And that there, from my angle it looks like a rabbit set up to be fired from a rather large sling shot." he said, allowing a wide smile to creep across his lips.
Viva la Coolie!
And silence from Genevieve. Should Darrien glance over to see [try and read] why there's silence, her eyes are fastened to the cloud formation he pointed out : towering whites expanding and contracting across the darkening blue. Late afternoon. Lashes, blurring over golden eyes, a narrow squint; she uses one hand to shield her gaze.
Contemplative. Serious. A rabbit set up to be fired from a rather large sling shot . . .
"Into the epic battle, perhaps. The secret weapon."
Re: Terra Firma (open)
"Secret weapon?" Darrien asked with a puzzled look on his face. He hadn't given it that much thought, but when she put the two formations together for him, Darrien saw it as quite a humerous war going on in the sky. He looked down at V, her golden eyes masked by her hair, and smiled. "I'd hate to be on the wrong side of that." hew said softly, contemplating the possibilities of a rabbit in a battle.
After putting it together in his head, Darrien took a long, hard look at Geneveive. She was definately a unique girl, he golden features set her apart from everyone, yet her slightly whimsical, yet sophistocated personality kept her similar enough that she fit in with the students he had already met. "Why would you come out to a desolate meadow to meditate? I'd assume somewhere quiet and serene likt the roof or library would be more condusive for such thought activity."
Viva la Coolie!
I'd hate to be on the wrong side of that, Darrien says, and V gives the faintest of nods in agreement. While the flamboyant boy, all style and charm, gazes at the sky and then considers things, thoughts like clockwork, V remains silent. Her head still slightly tilted, her chin up: proud creature
She half-turns her head to stare, seriously and steadily, at Darrien when he speaks. Badum. "The roof - quiet and serene?" Her very inexpressiveness is expressive, there. The roof has always been crowded whenever she's gone up for a visit.
Re: Terra Firma (open)
"From my experience it has been, perhaps I should venture up there more often." he said with a smirk stretching from ear to ear. The dancing clouds, the bowing grass, all blending together to create a perfect backdrop for the two colorful students' conversation. Darrien took the hat off and brushed up his rainbow locks with a movement of his hand.
"How long have you been going to this school?" he asked the golden tinted girl. It had been just a few months since he was dropped off here, and he was still trying to become aquainted with everyone. Had he met this girl before, he certainly hadn't conversed with her much, or his memory was much worse than he thought possible. Viva la Coolie!
Re: Terra Firma (open)
"Since last October." Her answer is brief and to the point. "Can I try on your hat?" The girl's eyes are such a warm colour, all honey, heated by a fire and made radiant by the sun; any rumours that she was unfriendly had to be based on lies. Or misunderstandings. They go from Darrien's face to his hair and his hat.
Re: Terra Firma (open)
He took a long, deep look into the golden eyes of the girl standing with him. Spinning the hat on one finger, he offered a soft wink. In a single motion, he caught the hat in his palm and set it gently atop the girl's head. "The colors go well with your eyes." he said through a devious, cat-like smile.
The grass waved a little less eratically as the wind died down some. Darrien's multicolored locks waved whimsically around after the hat that shielded them from the wind was gone. Smoothing it all back with both hands, he looked down at V and smiled. "Like the way it fits?"
Viva la Coolie!
Re: Terra Firma (open)
Darrien smooths his hair back. V adjusts the pink fedora so the brim is cocked at a rakish angle over her forehead, and casts a shadow over one golden eye. Alas, it's the teensiest bit (okay, maybe the teensiest bit more then the teeniest bit) too large for her, and the angle is, perhaps, more rakish then intended. "Hmm."
"Is that your natural hair color?" MHS opens the mind up to the impossible. And why wouldn't his natural colour hair be as multihued as the rainbow, as flamboyant as his personality? "How long have you been at MHS?" An inquisitive creature, she adds: "I've seen you around school with other students."
Re: Terra Firma (open)
"Not quite natural here, I like the dyed look." he said confidently. Oh the joy it would bring should his hair have sprouted normally like that, but alas he was born with firey red/orange hair, and that wasn't flashy enough for him. An experiment though it was, the hues and shades of his hair were a masterpiece in his eyes, and he'd never change it for anything.
"I've been here a little over two months now, right when the spring classes ended I arrived." The final words that escaped her lips took him a moment to process. Wonder who it could have been she saw me with? he thought. Being quite the social butterfly it was a vast lot to filter through, but he was unique enough not to be mistaken for anyone else. "I've met a few people thus far, do you know an angel named Amber?"
Viva la Coolie!
A northern breeze blows, chill; something in her expression, for just the fleetingest of moments, glitters coolly. And that same expression, although it doesn't seem possible, becomes (briefly, briefly) still more serious. She lowers her head, and the hat's shadow curves across her cheek until it touches her chin - and it moves with such a lover's gentleness. And all that glitters, not gold - no.
In the next moment, there's a thaw. "Everybody knows Amber. We're good friends."
Beat. "I hear you've mastered an unusual style of fighting. Is that true?"
Re: Terra Firma (open)
A second of pause, that awkward silence Darrien was never the source of took over the moment. He hadn't been too big on displaying his abilities in the arts of Capoeira, mostly because he wanted to hold them back and not be challenged by anyone in the school. "Amber's a real sweetheart ain't she?" he said, offering no indication of his ability in the martial arts.
Just then, in the time it took the words to travel through the air into her ears, Darrien dropped to his gluteous. Twisting his legs and rolling half onto his back, he spun them out in front of his body, narrowly missing V's midsection. Rolling his shoulders, he flopped onto his stomach, then lifted to his hands. Pushing his palms hard into the ground to vault into the air, he landed with his arms out in a "Ta Da" pose. "That the kind of thing you've heard about?" he asked through a playful grin.
Viva la Coolie!
Darrien drops to the ground and his legs twist, such flexibility,
and his back curls into a question
sweetheart aint
while his legs knife out, scissor a mere centimeter, perhaps less, from V's torso.
she?
And V starts, and the wind from his movement unseats the pink fedora, which drifts to the ground. She stands straighter; she stands with one hand under her jacket, at her waist, and how it got there - well, it was such a smooth motion, and she stares (intent) at Darrien as if he were a show.
"You can hurt with dancing? Was that break dancing?"
Oh, the innocence. And she can say it with such a straight face - dead pan.
