Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Ani was taken aback at Yakoutio's responce. She felt a little sorry in her mind, though she didn't have time to say anything before the young boy was off. Her face was twisted as she really wanted to apologise. Vash just seemed relevieed that no more prying was being done into his personal life. He quickly downed the rest of the glass and quickly poured another.

"I am quite sorry. I should have mentioned he does not like to be touched." Vash said to Ani.

"It is quite alright. I simply wish I could have apologised to him before he walked off." she replied.

"Mmm...He is quite a spirited one. I am sure if you get to know him you will find out for better or for worse."

Ani simply looked confused while a smirk made it's way across Vash's face. The little demon boy could be quite a handful, but he enjoyed his company. Quite the mature one for his age, he and Vash were always in some heated argument or fighting side by side. His eyes then quickly glanced towards Grimlock and his mother once more. They were still talking, though it seemed as though they were almost done. His mother seemed ready to walk off before anyone else noticed them. The would be hunter then looked back at Ani.

"Shall we be off then?"

"Yes. I hear Spook wishes to have a word with you. Something about foiling Tepes in a safe house. We hear you did quite well for yourself."

"Ah, yes. Well, I would have been dead if it were not from a friend I had met. We have more in common than anyone would ahve thought." Vash said, snickering.

"Oh, do tell. I would like to hear all about your adventures while you were gone. We miss you terribly here and are upset my father has deemed it necessary for you to hide out in America. It did not even stop Tepes. Why do you remain there?"

"Friends. I have made so many friends there. And promises. Many promises have been made. I cannot leave them there to suffer. Tepes has vowed vengence upon them if I do not keep facing his challenges."

"Then you suppose...?"

"Never speak of that!" Vash growled, his eyes flickering red.

Unfortunately he had said it a little louder than he would have liked to. People were now starring at him in confusion. Some had an idea, but most were scratching their heads. Vash simply tilted his hat more as he felt a thousand eyes were watching his every move now. He hated being the center of attention, which he generally was with his awkward look. He then quickly ushered himself to another part of the room and Ani quickly followed behind them. They then began talking to a vampire dressed in somewhat the same attire as Vash, though his seemed more whispy when he walked.

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
The woman in red barely exchanged a word with her, but Amber didn't seem too bothered by it asthey walked off once again. She was probably as cold as her pale skin felt, she thought. Once they were out of sight, she finally turned to face Yakoutio. She was smiling, but it was not a convincing one. Those who had seen her real smile before would know the difference.

"I'm fine Yakoutio...I just feel a little off, that's all."

Something caught her eye, a glimpse of a dark blue light through the pink sleeves of her dress. A chill went down Amber's spine; the pendulum was glowing a new light, so deep of a blue that it would almost look black if she had revealed it. She knew her hand had felt a little more warm than usual...

What? My chi! I must've channeled it when...

Amber quickly stood up.

"Ah! I'll be right back Yakoutio!" She said, suddenly talking off and dashing up the stairs. She had to find something, anything to release it. As she dashed, her mind was flooded with thoughts, worry and the strange feeling she had felt earlier. She couldn't remember channeling chi into her pendulum, not at all. Now all she wanted to do was to get rid of it, and those thoughts.

Why do I feel this way...

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Yakoutio watched Amber run away so he waited alone for a moment but suddenly he felt a horrible pain on his palm, the pain shot up his arm numbing it easily though the pain itself was from one point on his palm, pulling away the glove he saw that the scar in the shape of Amber’s pendent, the centre where the stone had burnt his flesh was red as if it were only just burnt into his skin. Slowly the pain faded as Amber distanced herself from him but he was now worried, something was wrong and he needed to find out even though Amber had just hinted to him to stay where he was.

"Ah! I'll be right back Shadowfang!" He said as he slammed the now empty half-bottle of whisky on the table sliding it into his hands before running as fast as he could after Amber but suddenly a large group of wraiths blocked his path but he instantly disappeared much to every ones shock only to appear half way up the steps though behind Amber as she continued to run.

“Hey come on something’s wrong” Yakoutio called out as he chased her up the stairs, “You can tell me right?

Ciana watched her daughter run, with the younger boy on her heels. She placed a hand on her cheek, there had been a look on her daughter's face, one that alerted her motherly instincts. Feelings were tricky things, especially to nephilim children.

"Ah...I see now." She said to no one in particular, and rested her head backward on the couch.

Meanwhile
There was a flash of light followed by a dull thud, as if something hit the wall really hard. After a few moments of silence, the sound of Amber's heels started to descend the stairs. Her hand slid along the cool, damp wall as she approached him.

Upstairs, one would find an imprint of the wall that resembled a cross. It was hard to tell, simply because a few corners of the wall crumbled. The energy would fade away of course, evaoprate into the air as water and gas could.

Her eyes were half-lidded, heavy with a sadness only seen for a moment by the light of a flickering torch that led them back to the party. She stopped in front of him and smiled gently.

"I..wasn't feeling well. Don't worry, I'm okay. Let's get back to the party, ne?"

Yakoutio put his arms out so that he blocked the narrow staircase preventing Amber from moving past him as he stared directly into her eyes as if to tell her that he was serious.

“No way” He replied, “Something’s wrong, I can sense it, you can tell me right?”

Yakoutio’s arms shook slightly as he kept stretching his arms out to touch the walls, a simple push and he would go flying down the stairs so it wasn’t a very good way to stop her if she wanted to push past him, it was more symbolic than anything.

“Come on please” Yakoutio continued, “I’m worried about you”.

Amber reached out and hugged him, just so that only he could hear his words. She knew Yakoutio would never budge unless she told him what was wrong.

"I think I wanted to hurt her...that woman...my chi flowed ino my pendulum when you were talking to her, as if I could attack her any moment," she said softly. She squeezed him tight and then released him. "But I don't know why I feel so terrible. Please don't say a thing to anyone, Yakoutio."

Before he knew it, Amber lifted him and floated down the staircase to head back to the party. She was not sure if Yakoutio understood what she was feeling, or even why.
A glass of wine suddenly sounded like a good idea.

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Yakoutio was shocked that Amber could lift him up and more so that she could actually fly while holding him, he had gotten use to the fact that she kept grabbing him even though he hated to be touched but he had somehow forgotten about her wings, most likely because he had just known her as a friend and had not paid much attention to them.

“Yeah I get that a lot, the desire to kill for no reason, I tend to use it in battle than empty it for no reason though” Yakoutio replied quietly before hopping away from her as he had become slightly awkward about being touched, “But you already know that”.

Yakoutio stood still as he tried to figure out what Amber meant but being young he suddenly caught sight of something more interesting switching his mind from the current situation almost instantly.

“Hey Amber nobody’s guarding the hard liquor now’s our chance” He laughed happily as he ran across the hall past another group of strange creatures towards a table with various forms of alcoholic drinks.

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Vash looked around the room while Spook prattled on about something or other to Ani. He couldn't see Amber and Yakoutio anywhere. It bothered him in a way he never knew existed. Friendship, maybe? He never had had any real friends before. Colleagues, co-workers, aquaintences, call the guild members what you wanted but they were not his friends. He knew them well, more like family. The hunter then excused himself from the conversation to go looking for the two.

He then spotted them coming from outside. The two seemed to be quite close and Amber looked slightly rattled. Had Yakoutio gone into another fit of rage? Now Vash was really starting to worry. His stomach felt queezy and his mind was haunted by horrible thoughts. He walked over to the two who were making a b-line for the 'beverage' table.

"Is everything alright?" he asked. "You seem a bit pale, Amber."

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
"Ah..."

Amber had to stop Yakoutio in his tracks. The boy had a one track mind when it came to alcohol. It puzzled her why he liked to drink such strong liquors, and wondered how could his body even handle such things. She stopped him by curling one finger inside the collar of his shirt to stop him without much effort.
Besides she didn't try to stop him, someone else probably would prevent him from reaching the alcohol.

Vash finally joined them and she suddenly felt much better. She could bring herself to smile again...but now she had to think of what to say, especially since it seemed that he noticed they went missing for a few minutes.

"I'm fine now..."

Think of something fast! You can't tell him that you wanted to blast the red lady and that you manage to make a giant hole in the wall upstairs. He'll probably get mad at you and never speak to you again! THINK AMBER!!!

"....I thought I lost my earring," she lied through her teeth, after letting her mind race for a moment. It was quite a task to come up with an excuse with a mind cluttered with thoughts. While she hated to lie, the truth was much more embaressing. She pushed back her hair, revealing the gold cross earrings.

"These are very special to me...I was so scared that I lost the left one. But Yakoutio found it right along the stairs."

Yakoutio, please play along, please...

As a precaution, she quickly changed the subject, and released Yakoutio. She didn't mean to, it slipped.

"You didn't know tell us it was your birthday today Vash...or would it be yesterday? Anyways congrats!"

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Vash eyed her suspiciously as she seemed to hesitate at the question. It didn't exactly come off as thurthful to the hunter. She had paused very peculiarly and didn't seem to have her thoughts together. All signs of a liar at work. He sighed in his mind and didn't exactly know what to do. Should he catch her in the act, or just let it go? Before he could choose a path, Amber had quickly changed the subject to one he wasn't exactly fond of.

"Yes. I am not one for birthdays, I suppose..." he said, looking awfully distant and distracted, noth his fists now clenched tightly.

He wasn't exactly fond of anything to do with him getting older. It only reminded him of his mortality. Though it was a human trait, it was one of the few things his mind would not allow. Though he despised vampires, something in the back of his mind always gave him the impression a vampire's immortality was a true gift, not a curse. Something Vash had always wanted was to be truely immortal like the rest of the hunters that surrounded him, though it was much more deep seeded than that. He almost looked like he was in tears when he came back to life.

"I suppose Yakoutio wants a drink." he said, smirking. "A splendid idea for the moment!"

The hunter then quickly turned around to the table and picked up a bottle of the closest liquor and just started to down it. After getting half way through the bottle he exhaled and wiped his mouth off. It was refreshing and would help him to forget what had just happened. Drink to forget. Maybe that's why Yakoutio was such an alchoolic.

Amber bowed her head as he left, putting a hand on her forehead. How quickly did she almost crumble in front of him! Unfortunately it didn't seem to help much, it was as if he could read her mind. It didn't help that she changed to a subject that seemed to do more harm than help. He seemed to be...saddened by the subject of the birthday party.

Great...How does he DO that? ...Now I'll have to tell him the truth...

"Ah...Vash..."

It would be completely embaressing to tell him...but he had walked off before she could say anything else. Her attention was caught by how quickly Vash could down a bottle of alcohol so fast. Yakoutio had carried whiskey with him earlier, before the werewolf-man smashed it. Her mother took WAY too many shots of tequila. How were they able to do that? She could barely take two glasses of wine without feeling tipsy.

"How do you...do that?" She asked him, her dark eyes amazed and trying to take a look at the bottle he was drinking from. The girl's curiousity was piqued, she never had anything stronger than wine. "Does it taste good?"

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Yakoutio was happy as the alcohol was in sight, it was getting closer to him at every passing second but suddenly and without warning he stopped and his neck began to hurt.

“Why am I in the air?”

THUD!

Yakoutio picked himself up groggily and looked around to see that Vash had just entered the room and was drinking a bottle of some form of spirit, his some form of spirit.

"How do you...do that? Does it taste good?"

“It’s all a matter of how much your resistance to alcohol is, this is dependent on how much alcohol you have drunk in your life, how much you have eaten, the mass of the person drinking as well as the type of alcohol in question” Yakoutio replied for him, “And yes… yes it does taste good”.

Yakoutio glanced around before quickly grabbing the nearest bottle of whisky and screwing off the top hurriedly before drinking it as fast as he could go, though suddenly he stopped for a breath as his small lungs couldn’t drink as quickly as Vash.

"Horrible." was the only responce Vash gave.

He then quickly took another large swing, downing another quarter of the bottle. It seemed he wasn't one for hard liquor, though he wasn't exactly drinking for enjoyment. It was terribly obvious that Vash was just trying to loosen up his mind so that rpessing thoughts could just float away. He didn't care, though. All he wanted was to forget the terrible truths he lived, at least for now.

As the dunpeal polished off the bottle, he set it down with a resounding clank. It then hit him suddenly, the inebriated state he was searching. It hit him like a ton of bricks in a quick take over of his state of mind. Vash stumbled back a step before regaining his balance quickly. It had just rushed up so quickly that he had been taken aback. It felt nice, though, yet his worries still hung over his head.

More...I just need more... he thought in futility.

Re: Tradition...(continued...again)
Amber watched V and Yakoutio drink the bottles of assorted alcohol with amazement. She had seen her mother drink like that before a few times in her life, a few months after her father left to be precise. But never had she seen a 12 year old boy drink so much whiskey!

"Horrible" was the response Vash had given her and still he finished off an entire bottle of the mystery alcohol. The girl smiled, but it was a nervous one.

"You shouldn't drink so much like that..."

Despite her words of caution, the girl was curious as to the taste of these different drinks. Normally, a glass of wine was enough for her, but as she watched Yakoutio and Vash drink them so easily, she began to find herself wanting to try one. How bad could it have been?

The reached out and chose a bottle, a stout one that looked like a round science beaker in cartoons. The label read "Armagnac."

"Hm."

The girl opened the bottle and took a swing. Too late, the taste of grape and plum and something else that she couldn't describe. Down her throat, it was too late to spit out. She pulled the bottle away as quick as she could and coughed several times. How DRY that felt, how powerful that was!

"I warned you." Vash said, looking at her.

He felt awful for looking so weak infront of his friends. He then looked at the bottle that Amber was holding. Those two shouldn't be drinking like this. He was an adult now, techniqually, and was of age to drink in this society. The others, however, were still minors. This was starting to seem insane to him.

"You are right Amber. We shouldn't be drinking like this." he said, giving Yakoutio a glare. "I suppose I will get some fresh air..."

He then slowly moved away from the other two, trying to gain his balance. He felt a little tipsy, though he still had complete control over himself. He then opened the door quickly and started up the stairs. His hand was steadying himself against the wall and hopefully that would be enough to keep himself up until the wooziness passed.

Yakoutio giggled slightly to himself as he slammed the third bottle down on the table, he looked up at Vash but couldn’t focus on him very well so he just seemed to be looking at his shoulder, he stood still with his mouth open not replying for a while until finally he blinked as if he had realised something.

“What did you say?” He asked through small childish giggles, suddenly he jumped though as he realised that Vash had actually left the room and he had been talking to nobody, he turned to Amber and stared at her but once again it appeared that he couldn’t focus very well.

“That was funny” He giggled, “I was… was talking to nobody and… I still thought I was… talking to… not... nobody.... Is that even a word?”

As Vash headed up to get some fresh air, Amber finished gulping down a cup of water, anything to get the dry taste out of her mouth. She turned to Yakoutio, and sighed softly. Now he was just as drunk as her mother had been.

"No more for you, Yakoutio," the winged girl said, pulling the bottle away from him.

"Should've told you brandy would tate like that, little wing."

Speaking of the devil, her mother walked over to her daughter and Yakoutio. She seemed much better than she had been earlier. Looks can be decieving, of couse. The blond woman took one look at Yakoutio, then turned to Amber.

"You should take him outside for fresh air. And give him some water too." Ciana said, picking up one of the bottles that Yakoutio drank from. She shook her head, how dangerous for kids his age to drink so much.

Amber filled a large cup with water and she nudged Yakoutio on the back, leading him up the stairs.

"Hey, let's go outside with Vash. You'll be able to see better."

The stairs went on forever for Vash. Thoughts reeling through his mind. The grim facts that he had to face kept flashing over and over. A blade to the heart, a bullet to his head, a laugh colder than a rush of winter wind across your face. He sent shivers down his spine. One step after the other all he could think about was what Grimlokc had told him when he was a young boy. His parents had cried so much that day. The town had been quite glomy that day with dark clouds looming over head. That had been the day his father had died. It was the day that had changed his life for the worse.

The dunpeal then stopped, leaning against the wall. Then for the first time since he had turned eight, he started to sob. Holding back his tears, Vash simply sobbed in the middle of the hallway. The pain was finally too much to handle and had broken the dunpeal down. It echoed through the hallway clearly though no one seemed to be there. His head was hung low and he felt like the world was about to crush him. He then heard footsteps coming towards him and quickly stopped, gathering his composure. He then looked to see who exactly was coming.

“Hey… let go of me… why are we going here?” Yakoutio moaned sleepily, “I haven’t even drunk that much… come on this isn’t funny”.

Various people were leading Yakoutio outside, rubbing his eyes sleepily he walked forwards before finally kneeling down putting his head on the cold ground lifting it up and down in what seemed to be him hitting his head on the floor very very softly.

“I shouldn’t be doing this…” Yakoutio moaned, “I’m cold…”

The two barely made it up the staircase before Yakoutio kneeled on the steps. Amber patted his back gently; the poor child had a little too much than he coud handle.

"It's okay. Ah...I have an idea. Don't worry, you'll feel better when we get outside."

It took a bit of manuvering, but she managed to get him on her back and her wings provided some warmth. He wasn't too heavy, she could carry him up the stairs fine. It wouldn't have been the first time, and it may never be the last.

Amber stood up and started climbing the stairs again while holding Yakoutio on her back. She hummed softly, following where the stairs would lead her, when she could suddenly hear it. A quiet sobbing...She was sure it was Yakoutio at first but he had not made too much of a movement since she started carrying him. She barely took another few steps and the sobbing vanished.

Was that...just all in my mind?

Another few steps...one, two, three...and by the flicker of light from the torch wall, she saw Vash. The expression on her face must've been one of surprise, she was sure he would already be outside. The girl then smiled at him.

"Yakoutio had a little too much..." She said, adjusting herself so that he wouldn't slide off her back. "I was sure you would've beaten us to the outside by now...are you all right?"
