Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
His arms go stiff, and Karrody can't move his hands, or anything. Yet they are still locked in the position they were from a minute ago. What did this vampire do. Of course his powers will be quite advanced, as he is not weakened by mortality like Karrody is, but perhaps Karrody does have one trick up his sleeve that the vampire isn't expecting. That trick is simple. Karrody has experience, and his experiences, they even include failures, yes, he is greatful for his failures, for he has learned more from failing then he has from the same number of success.

Karrody knows that if his abilities fail, he doesn't know that they have failed untill someone reacts in a way that would tell him they failed. Perhaps, thinking this vampire might have his abilities drawn from his blood, the same goes for him hopefully, in the way that he can tell if he succeeded. Feeling the pain in his arms from the cold, Karrody tries everything he can to not allow the vampire see that he succeeded. Maybe it will make the vampire think Karrody is stronger then he really is, put some fear into his thoughts, thinking a half blood is even stronger then him.

With such thoughts, Karrody boosts his confidence, even with fear in the back of his mind, he forces himself into thinking of ways to succeed. Failure is not an option except for the dead, and he surely isn't dead. Using his body weight to move his arms forward, stabbing the tips of his blades into the wall, and forcing the vampire to have to back up to prevent from being cut Karrody speaks again, trying to keep any idea of what the vampire has done to him out of his words.

"Perhaps I could send you there for me." Karrody begins, his words lined with an iceness of his own, partly to hide his fear, and partly to cause fear. "You could send him a personal message for me while you are there. Tell him he's lucky that I didn't find him in time to send him there myself."

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Karrody forcibly pushes the terror (and he'll be wet with sweat) to the back of his mind and throws his body against his own arms. Stabs the tips of his blades into the wall. Forces the vampire to back up? The vampire was already against the wall. There is nowhere to back up.

"Bravado, bravado; bravo, bravo," the green eyed vampire says, quiet and husked, in response to the boy's latest sally.

Then an unlucky thing happens for Karrody.
--

Meanwhile, Knives and V are in the completely useless, not to mention gratuitious, ventilation ducts in the old and ancient building. It's very cold. The closer they crawl toward the room and the colder it gets. There are cracks in the pipes, and their breath plumes out like feathers. Then Knives not only smells the man; he sees him.

The man is ahead by a good few feet. His back is not to Knives and V. But he's hunched; his fingers work at something on the floor; then there's a faint crack. The ceiling. He's pulling up a piece of the ceiling. He takes, from his pocket, a small knife with an interesting hilt. Unique, thick; all ebony shot through with ivory carvings. Difficult to see in the dark. Then the man looks up and sees Knives, a split second after Knives sees the man.

His eyes narrow, slightly, and then he swings down.

--

The unlucky thing for Karrody is that his ploy with the swords did actually work. He thrusts his body against his arms and his arms thrust (the weight, the weight) against the wall and cut the vampire's throat. Just a knick. He doesn't bleed very much. But he does bleed. The green eyed vampire's eyes go to the side.

And Karrody's hands start to shake. The swords start to shake. Karrody finds himself lurching backwards (possessed) and away from the vampire and away from the wall. His body is not his own. His body seems to desire very much to end its own life, if the fact that he now can watch himself turn his own blades toward his eyes.

And he hears a voice. Female, young. Pretty.

"Leave Alexander alone! Don't you dare touch Alexander! I'll kill you! I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
As Karrody's physical body loses control and he can nolonger keep himself from holding back he doesn't know what to do. Then he hears the voice. He tries with all his might, and all his will to force his body to obey his mind. To not subject itself to what ever is taking control, and nomatter how hard he tries, the best if anything he can do is learn that he is at a total loss right now as he is apparently trying to kill himself.

As a last resort Karrody speaks out to what ever speaks to him, as it is obviously not the vampire that is doing this to him. A cold sweat on his neck as he forces what little he could do into the control of his words.

"Tell him to speak, no harm would have come to him if he had spoken teh first time I met him, but no, he showed agression, so I returned with agression." Karrody says, trying in every way to reason with what ever controls him, hoping for his existence to not be wiped out so uselessly.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
As soon as Knives saw the man, he didn't think more on it. He didn't continue to sniff the air, there was no need to. He just began to scramble, to crawl as fast as he possibly could in this position, in the man's direction. Though Knives was fast, he could tell that the man had seen him coming. Their eyes locked for just a moment, as Knives drew closer...the dog boy reached out with his hand, grasping, and came inches from getting a grip on the man's shirt. That is, before the man disappeared into the room below.

Knives now crouched over the hole, looking down. The room below was dark as well, just like in the ventilation shaft; which was no surprise, as the lights had went out just before Knives climbed up here. But he could smell what was going on below; and he knew immediately that this was the room where the blood had come from. A grimace covered his face, and then an unhappy frown. He really didn't want to go in there, to find out where all of the blood was coming from. But for his new friend's sake, he would. A sigh escaped him, as he looked towards V.

"I guess we're going in. I'll go down first, so I can catch you, k?"

And with that, he jumped. He fell onto the ground below, a decent distance from where they were (after all, he had to fall the whole height of the room). When he landed, it was less than graceful: his feet hit first, and though his legs could have supported his weight, it was at a somewhat awkward position, and he ended up landing on his ass. With a sigh, he shook his head, and scrambled to his feet, so that he could look up at V above. He couldn't see her, but he could see where the light was coming from, and knew that was where she was.

"Heh, alright!" He scratched the back of his head sheepishly, with a grin to match. Then, he held out his arms, ready for her to jump. "Kay, I promise I won't drop ya!" He said it to get a laugh from her, but it was true: he was sure he wouldn't.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
As Knives' eyes adjust to the dark, there are a few other things that he will notice, now that he's down in the room that the man (follow the white rabbit?) dropped down into.

He can see Karrody. Perhaps he knows Karrody, perhaps he doesn't; after all, Karrody has a knack for not being noticed. He looks about twelve, thirteen; and he has two swords, pointing towards himself, and his eyes are glowing with witch fire, an eerie greenish radiance. He also has an eerie presence.

The swords are dripping blood.

He'll also notice, leaning against the wall, minus one hand, clutching the stump of his wrist, a particularly pale youth with crocodile green eyes. They aren't glowing; his neck is cut; he seems quite the worse for wear. The wall is obviously supporting him; there are more than a few cuts.

He won't immediately notice the man. That's because the man is behind him.

V, after a split second's pause, and what could have been a sigh (for she, like Knives, prefers to stay out of the line of fire), says stoically,

"I'm coming down now."

And she'll drop in the next moment, unless, of course, Knives yells something like: Uh, nevermind!!! in time.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Knives wasn't one to...well, pay attention...much. He didn't see the people around him right away. This was mostly because his focus was almost completely on V, and his intent to safely get her down here, so that they could complete their adventure and find the man that she was after. So he continued to smile up to her. It was really only a few short moments anyways between when he fell and when she fell after him, so it's not too surprising he didn't look at his surroundings yet.

She jumped down, right into his arms. Since she was small and light, he was able to easily hold her up in his arms, so that she could safely avoid hitting the ground painfully. Once he caught her, he looked down, grinning happily, and said, "See? Told ya I'd catch ya." He then set her safely on her feet, and retracted his arms, as he turned to finally take in his surroundings.

That's when he saw the other two, fighting in the corner. Knives blinked a few times, and then frowned. It seemed they'd stumbled into something that they really shouldn't have. But it wasn't really that big of a deal. Knives could smell the man, and knew he was behind him: that was the real target, and the other two weren't important at all. He basically ignored them.

Instead, he spun around to look at the man behind him. Knives smirked, as he took a few steps in the man's direction. Finally, he'd backed him into a corner; there was no escaping. When the dog boy was only a foot or two away, he stopped, though his smirk never faded. "Look, V, we found him!"

(OOC: I don't know what I can do right now, as I am waiting on you Quick. So I hope you aren't waiting on me.... But I'll post so that you know that I am still here.)

As the man enters the room, Karrody pays him no heed. As that isn't his worry right now. The one thing on his mind, is the fact that he is abuout to impale himself, with his own blades. They tasted his blood after he first became their owners, that is supposed to be enough to keep them from breaking his skin again. Apparently that is about to proven wrong. Then Knives falls through the hole, and V soon after. Karrody's attention is momentarily drawn away when he sees her. What on Earth is she doing here. Espevcially seeing that she isn't supposed to leave the school. Yet before he let his attention drift to far, once again, the blades, which are now much closer to his throat.

Knives catches her without difficulty, as smooth as silk, and V's response to his silly, happy grin is a serious-eyed nod--as usual, she takes things as they happen, adaptable and calm--and then her feet hit the ground. She places a hand on Knives' arm, and squeezes, gently; all the thank you (and, typically quiet) that he'll get. Because, while Knives doesn't pay attention to his surroundings immediately, V does.

She looks from Knives, to the spirit hunter behind him, to the bloody vampire, to Karrody, and her reaction to the entire thing is to --

"Karrody."

He's struggling. She can see it. And she owes him her life, certainly, and more than that; they might be called friends. "What's going on?"

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Meanwhile, and before V has a chance to get any input (who was she asking? wonder, for she seems a practical girl, not one to waste her time with questions), this happens:

Knives turns toward the Japanese man. Let's describe him in more depth: His jaw is square, yes, and his hair is streaked in gray, yes, and white, as well, and he's as tall and thin as a skeleton that is tall, also yes.

But his hair is also black, where it isn't gray and white; and his eyes are almond shaped, and narrow, and as gray as steel reflecting a stormy winter's sky. He has reached into his jacket, and pulled out a small strip of paper, white as a prayer (which is just what it must be?). He snaps his wrist out, and the paper snaps, too, and he snaps it again, and it becomes a sword, long and slender and curved.

"I don't know why you followed me." He's smart. He's figured it out. "But you will move out of my way," he says, to Knives, and his voice is as cold as the noise ravens make, and also slightly irritated; he doesn't know how to interact with people, that's for sure.

"I don't know why you followed me.....But you will move out of my way,"

Knives blinked, and tilted his head to the side. He put on his face a look of curiosity and confusion, so that it looked as if he wasn't sure what the man was talking about. To add to this, he shrugged a little bit. But the glint in his eye let on that he was playing around, trying to mess with the man. Of course Knives wasn't that slow; he just acted like it, most of the time to get a laugh. This time, it was to find out why the man wanted him to move, and what his purpose was.

"Why would I need to do that?" He asked curiously.

Then, his eyes travelled down to the blade in the man's hand. Obviously, the man was going to do something to either V, Karrody, or the other man. If it was V, Knives would be sure to protect her; and she seemed to know Karrody, which gave him reason not to let Karrody get hurt either. So he kept his hand hovered over the hilt of his own sword, a subtle hint that he wasn't going to let the man harm his friend.....but he didn't touch it or draw it yet, as he had no reason to yet.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Karrody: Unfortunately, his arms continue to move of their own volition.

That voice is in his ears, a torrent of whispers which all belong to one throat, leave Alexander alone, I'll kill you, I'll cut out your heart, I'll kill anybody who, and he's perfectly free to say anything he wants to. He's perfectly free to beg for mercy, to look away. But the rest of his body is arrested in the act of cutting out his own heart. Those swords, they begin to press in -- finally, they actually cut. But it's such a slow process, that of the ghost overriding the living subject's will to not die.

He'll feel V's hands on his wrists, pulling them back and away. Her strength is slight, but it's a moment's reprieve.

And that's what V does. She pulls Karrody's hands away from himself. The points of his swords, bloody now, leave his body. But then surge, quiver back -- like a dog that's hungry, only just restrained by a leash.

The man's cool grey eyes narrow on the dog-boy. His nostrils flare. "Your blood smells like," and then he moves. Forward. Fast. The sword will whistle past Knives' head. And Knives will, of course, try to block; he'll be able to. The man wasn't aiming for him. He'll figure this out, maybe: The man's sword was going straight for the back of Karrody's head. Their breath gusts out like clouds, and it's almost too cold to fight -- when Knives blocks the man's sword, the man slips (and he's as slippery as an eel, and almost boneless) to the side, brings the butt of his sword into Knives' stomach with enough force to knock his breath away.

And then he'll do it again -- lunge for Karrody.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Of course Knives blocked the attack. He wasn't sure if Karrody was worth protecting; but as he saw V trying to help him, he figured that, for V's sake, he ought to do something. So he drew his sword, matching the man's speed, and swinging it, all in one fluid motion. But he wasn't going to strike the man; no, he knew that V still had a reason for him to live. Instead, he aimed for the man's sword, striking it, preventing it from moving forward and attacking Karrody.

And then the blade withdrew. He felt it move away, and then something hit him in the stomach. Knives doubled over, his swordless arm clutched over his stomach in pain. He almost fell to his knees, gasping for breath; but he knew he shouldn't give in to this. He sucked in hard, held his breath, and spun around quickly. He lunged sideways, placing himself between the man and Karrody. Both hands now clutched the hilt of his blade, holding it vertically, right where the man's sword was aiming.

The blades clashed again; the man would not be able to pass. "What is it you're wanting? Why do you wanna kill this guy?" He felt the strain of the other man's blade, the strength of the man pushing the sword down upon his own. But it was alright; Knives could handle it. He just held the sword upright, pushing back against the force, keeping the man at bay. He wouldn't strike him without reason; but he wouldn't let him strike someone who seemed to be one of the good guys.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Knives is cocky, and it would appear that he has reason to be; Knives is cocky, and he just blocked the strange man's blade with his sword. The man's eyes narrow, further; they gleam (briefly), as if a line of light just ran along a knife's edge. "You," he says, or growls. "Are interfering with my job."

And this is one big misunderstanding which could be cleared up, very easily, by an open and easy dialogue. But the man isn't one for sharing information with a pack of teenage brats who just happened to follow him. People have to be protected from knowledge.

Knives can feel such an immense pressure from the man's blade, pushing forward, as if he'd pierce Knives' blade and shatter it. Go through Knives, if he had to. Just to get to Karrody. Knives is closer to Karrody now, almost back-to-back; that's what it takes to block.

"...Don't."

Suddenly, the man's sword will disengage; after all that pressure, it will probably unbalance Knives, and oh what oh what will he do, now that the sword is, once again, whipping past him, and the man is turning to the side, intent on stabbing Karrody through the head.

Not Karrody's day, eh?

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
With V's help Karrody has the ability ot see his surroundings and the danger he is in. Knowing quite well that he is in a prediciment that he won't get out of easily, Karrody decides to do the exact opposite of what he has been doing. That of preventing his own blades entering his body. He hopes to catch what ever has attemtped to possess him off gaurd as he does so and succeed. He knows he only has one chance, and failure means the end of his existence in all ways.

Looking at V, his eyes simply tell a quick story, one that shows not fear, but a strength in will as Karrody's predetory gleam shows on his face. With as much force as he had used to hold the blades at bay, Karrody stabs them into his own chest, the strenght of the spirit and his allowing them to enter easily and exit out his back in a simple moments thought.

The two blades enter through his chest with a violent force. Peircing his skin and exiting his back. The midnight black blades enter all the way up to the hilt. The blood not being allowed to gush out as the presence of the blades keep the blood from the wounds at bay as they remain in his body. The force of the entry send Karrody back out of the reach of the mans blade as he attempts at his head again. If not for the added force from the spirit, Karrody might not have been able to avoid the strike from the hunter.

Yet what Karrody did, he directed them. Just away from his heart. Oh, he's going to feel the pain later, and he already feels it now. Though he hopes the spirit thinks it will simply take time for one such as himself to die. Giving him the chance to fully succeed at his attempt to get what he needs.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Knives stumbled forward; he knew he should have expected the man to do such a thing, it was an obvious trick. He should've remained stable, kept his weight balanced when he struck with his sword, rather than putting his weight into the blow. But he didn't, and he paid for it, by falling forward, flat on his front side, his chest hitting the ground hard. For a few seconds, he laid there, gasping, as the breath had been knocked out of him by the fall.

But he regained it quickly, and pushed himself to his feet again in moments. Unfortunately, when he spun around to face the action going on behind him, he found that he was too late to save Karrody. Knives's eyes followed the two blades, as they plunged deep into Karrody's chest, and there was nothing he could do to stop them. Knives's eyes narrowed, his hand clenched his sword tighter, and he stood there, staring helplessly, for several moments.

When he next made an action, he was no longer the same goofy dog boy he was before. He was angry; someone had caused Karrody to strike himself in what seemed to be an obviously fatal way. And the only person in the room who seemed like he'd do such a thing was this man, the one who wanted to attack Karrody in the first place. Immediately, Knives lunged forward, taking his sword in both hands, and swiftly slashing downwards on the man, aiming for his head. The dog boy hadn't wanted to kill him; but now that the man had caused a death already, Knives had no other choice.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
1. Karrody meets V's eyes, and his are speaking things; hers, of course, are not. Light is the thing which blinds and conceals. He stops struggling against the ghost in his bones and the blades slide through him, easily. They're whetted by his blood.

2. Knives stumbles and hits the ground. His breath whooshes out of him (exit, psyche). His blade is a bright flash in the air, and he regains his feet, only to see what it is he saw; he stares, too, for a few moments. And while Knives (quick, quick!) slashes forward, his body as much a weapon as his sword, Tamotsu (the man) has not been still for those few moments.

3. The dog-boy hits the ground. Karrody's sudden release brings his head to a new position; one Tamotsu hadn't been aiming for. But the change is so slight, and Tamotsu is so ready for change, so use to sudden adjustments in his plan (despite his rigid gray eyes), that he readjusts his own blade, and hits Karrody with it, regardless. By the time this happens, Knives is staring at the two blades that have sprung from Karrody's back. He pushes and the sword passes effortlessly through Karrody's head, without even a whisper. There's no blood. By this time, Knives is on his feet, and his muscles have bunched to lunge. Karrody feels himself. He can think, again; his muscles are no longer dead weight to him. He can move, the way he wishes to move, as soon as the sword passes through his head; and he feels no pain from that. However,

4. Tamotsu doesn't notice Knives, until a split second too late. He dodges, but only just barely, and Knives will draw a line of gore across his cheek, down to his grim mouth.

5. There is another in the room. Alexander. The vampire. He reaches into his jacket with his good hand. . . His jacket is in shreds, tiny ones, but he looks healed already. There was a cut on his cheek and one across his eye, and they're all but closed. . .

6. By the by, at the end of the blade which passed through Karrody's head -- there's a new thing to see. There's a girl, actually, transparent, as if she were made of breath and memory and the cold. Say she's about sixteen years old. Her hair is short, fans out; her eyes are almond shaped, and wide, and her cheeks are round. She's dressed in a pair of shorts, a belt as wide as a hand wrapped around, thick and clunky; she has on a shirt, as well, but it seems to change, it's hard to see. She's impaled by the blade, and becoming more solid by the moment. . .

6. At least, she was impaled until Tamotsu had to dodge, and his grip was disturbed, and the sword flicks free from her. She's still solid, caught halfway between ghost and flesh, but now she's free to move as required. She stares at the man with eyes as green as crocodile, who's still cut up and bloody, resting against the wall. "Alexander," she says, and she's almost human.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Not sure as to what causes the sudden release of his body. As Karrody doesn't feel the blade pass through his head, he thinks he might have dodged it. Anger and pain both rushing through him in strong waves. His eyes flashing crimson as his vampiric blood does what little it may to keep him going. Pulling the blades strapped to his legs, Karrody removes the two tantos he carries and stepping to his left, away from the man and Kobita, and sends the blades flying through the air towards the vampire along the wall. The blades aren't aimed in a way that they might incapacitate the vampire, but having his arms peirced from two blades passing through his arms are sure to cause him enough discomfort to not attack Karrody immediately. V being inbetween him and the vampire prevent him from attacking head on to cause a incapacitating attack aswell.

Then retreiving his other two blades immediately there after, Karrody takes the two wakazashi's he has at his sides and steps to the side. Sending them at the vampire, hoping to have them further immobilize the vampire by stabbing into his legs.

Another painful step sideways, then forward and Karrody removes the two blades that he stabbed into himself. Blood being lost quickly, even though the wounds fight to close themselves. He just doesn't have the ablility to close the wound. His eyes are crimson as he makes another step forward both blades forward and pointed at the vampire.

Karrody's cold words are spoken in a way that makes them seem to carry a physical presence of there own, and the fact that the vampire doesn't have to survive for Karrody to get what he wants hopefully enough to make it look at survival as a way out.

Re: The Song of the Sibyl (open)
Knives's blade slices across the man's cheek, and at that moment, his eyes lift up past him, following the man's sword, through Karrody's skull, to the ghost-like being beyond it. Immediately, Knives blinked a couple of times, suddenly realizing the situation. He'd been wrong: this man was not the enemy!

Frowning, Knives rolled to the side, landing on his feet again. Upon impact with the ground, his knees bent to absorb the blow, and his hand touched the ground, balancing him so that he didn't fall. His other hand extended out to one side, gripping his sword, holding it away from everyone so as not to harm them.

And then, he stood up, and looked over at the man apologetically. He was wrong, and was willing to admit it. Then, he turned his attention to the ghost, frowning a bit. His serious look had faded along with his anger, but he was a little confused about how exactly they were planning to fight a ghost. After all, a blade wouldn't harm one, and Knives lacked any sort of spiritual power as of yet.

And then, Karrody and the other vampire started to speak. Knives said nothing, did nothing; he could've cracked a joke, but he was sure this wasn't the time.
