The Hunger...(EoB)
It was that time of the week once again. His mind felt clouded and the distinct watering of his mouth gave away the unearthly craving that plagued him every so often. Unfortunately, his reserves had run low and he had no time to waste. Soon the dark thoughts would envelope his judgement and he would be forced to aquire the taste he longed for with more monsterous tactics.

Vash ran swiftly and silently across the roof tops of Buffalo with a speed known by few. The night sky gave the perfect backdrop to conceal his presence along with his darting motions that escaped most untrained eyes. His heritage gave him that strength, though tonight was focused on the drawbacks of such a power. His need for blood had arisen once again and he lacked the more humain approach of blood bags from donars. Now he raced towards the nearest bloodbank in hopes of finding something to quench his thirst.

He could almost see his destination from his vantage point of the tall buildings when his body felt drained. His muscles relaxed and his body sank quickly. Down he went, into an alleyway, bouncing off the top of a large dumpster before rolling face first into a puddle. He graoned and strained his body to sit up, leaning against the dumpster for support.

His vision was spinning and he felt very weak; these were obviously the side affects of waiting so long to obtain his need for blood. He cursed at himself, not only for waiting, but because he despised the filthy habit of needing to drain other of life simply so he could live. It was a curse brought upon him and the instinct to survive brought an addiction few could ever understand. For now, he would rest, hopefully gaining enough strength afterwards to slowly make his way towards some sort of resource that carried his drug, donated or otherwise!

Re: The Hunger...(EoB)
It seemed that Vash wasn't the only one moving across roof tops. Ryoko was there too. She was walking slowly, trying to figure out where would be the best place to go to work first. Hopefully this young thief was more aware of her surroundings. Last time she allowed herself to get careless, and as a result was chased by police until they lost her. Ryoko blamed her laziness for that accident. If Pax hadn't dragged her back into the gaming world, she'd be out training herself instead of training her game characters.

But this was not about her gaming buddy, this was about work. It had never been this hard to pick an appropriate spot to steal from first, and it made Ryoko doubt coming out at all tonight. It was just pathetic. Looking down over the building edge, the red eyed girl jumped down into an alley way. If she couldn't even pick where to go, there was no point in trying to work tonight. She didn't feel focused enough, and Jun-Bo was to blame about that.

Ryoko walked through the alley, her hands resting in her pockets as she calmly moved along. After making it back out to the streets, Ryoko began to walk in the direction she thought the school was in. " How stupid can I get..." She muttered to herself, unable to find the way back to the school. New plan, flying back would be much easier. The school would be much easier to find in the air.

As she turned to duck into another alley, Ryoko's blood red eyes came into contact with a stranger leaning against the dumpster. She took a few steps, trying to get a good look at him. " Are you ok?" Ryoko asked him.

"Are you ok?"

Vash's eyes strained to focus on the oncoming noise. Someone was talking, to themselves as it appeared. He could only hear one set of footsteps, so that eliminated most options. Maybe it was help? He could certainly use it right. His body felt heavy from fatigue and he wasn't sure how he would make it to the blood bank with his small reserve of strength.

Then again, what if it was an assassin? The voice could have been talking to some sort of impish devil or shadow creature, which would explain the lack of a second pair of footsteps. Vlad had been known for more devious and underhanded things, so why not now? The dunpeal was in a very vulnerable state at the moment, so it would be perfect to finish him off, or better yet, conduct one of his "tests" that he enjoyed putting Vash through in an attempt to convert him to be his right hand man.

With those thoughts filling his paranoid mind, he slowly lifted himself up to his feet. The staggering boy looked like a mess, staggering in place as he tried to keep his footing. His feet slid out to each side, dragging across the pavement as he drew his sword. Maybe he wouldn't be able to use it, but the conductivity it provided for his ward would prove most useful.

Then, a faulter. The blade was too heavy for the boy to keep up properly and his body wavered under the weight. His legs buckled and he was down to one knee in an instant. It was now visibly a futile effort. Whatever that would happen would happen, and no resistence could be mustered at this point. The only thing Vash could do was save his energy and pray that this person was helpful rather than hindering.

Ryoko saw the sword as the stranger held it out. It seemed that he wanted a fight. If she had to defend herself, she would, but there was no point in fighting him, since he didn't even have enough strength to hold his own weapon. Ryoko came to a quick conclusion: No fighting. Unless it was a trick of some kind. Perhaps the stranger was trying to get her to let her guard down.

"Father...your curse...why does it...burden me so...?"

Well that was a surprise to say the least. Ryoko had no idea what the man was talking about, and wasn't really going to try and understand or even bother to ask either. She knelt down to him, the moonlight shining on her face slightly. There was a hint of concern in her eyes. " Come on, I'll help you. What's going on?" Ryoko asked, a slightly concerned sound in her voice as well. Whether it was concern for him or concern for her own safety, she wouldn't tell.

The girl was definately helpful, that was certain. He had drawn a weapon on her and still she persisted. If he hadn't been so out of breath, he probably would have thanked her.Right now, unfortunately, there were mroe pressing matters. Still trying to catch his breath, his glowing red eyes met hers, a look tinge of fear in them. It wasn't that he wanted to show such a weakness, but he simpyl had nothing else to drive him aside from pure emotion and instinct.

"Bank...Blood bank..." he managed to gasp out.

Then, the pain returned. His chest panged with a stabbing furry that forced him to grunt in discomfort. He grasped his chest with hsi claw-like hand, almost tearing through his shirt. The darker side of him was begging to come out, trying to force it's way to the surface through distractions of pain. He had to resist, though. It was crucial that he did, or others would be hurt, not to mention the one who was trying to aid him right now.

"I need to get there!" he said in a rushed manner, trying not to studder while speaking.

"Bank...Blood bank..."

Ryoko couldn't understand him, why did he want to go there? Perhaps he lost a lot of blood or something like that, he did seem pretty weak and drained. There was a blood bank down the street if she recalled correctly. Maybe he was trying to get there and was too weak to make it all the way, but then why he was he in the alley?

"I need to get there!"

There was another surprise. For someone who couldn't make a full sentence just a moment ago, the stranger seemed to be doing alright now. But it was rushed, he really must have needed to get there. Shrugging, Ryoko moved to his side. She might as well help him get there if he needed to go so badly.

Taking a hold of his arm, Ryoko put it around her neck, then placed her arm around his waist. She pulled him to his feet and mentally thanked her father for making her strong enough to do it. " Alright, I'll take you there." She said. And with that, Ryoko started to walk with the stranger to the blood bank.

A smirked crossed Vash's face as he felt his body being lifted. So the girl was going to help him out. It was too much of a close call for his taste. If she hadn't shown up...He didn't want to think about that right now. He would be safe, and consequently, so would Buffalo.

"Thank...thank you..." he muttered, not sure if she even heard him.

His footing was sloppy and weak. He was putting most of his weight on the girl, though he tried to support himself as much as he possibly could. For a boy who was generally considered thin, he did have a forceful swagger about him, most likely due to his inability to control his above average strength at this point. He could feel himself, on occasion, dragging the girl to this side or that just slightly. She was tough, but nothing could save her from this kind of super natural ability.

"Thank...thank you..."

A smile came to Ryoko's face when the stranger thanked her. " Don't worry about it." She replied. He seemed to be swaggering. Ryoko tried to control it as much as she could, but found that she couldn't. Eventually the young thief stopped trying, since the most important thing right now was reaching that blood bank, even if she didn't know why they were trying to get there.

It was no problem for her to take the weight of the stranger, it was something Ryoko could handle easily. She was walking a little slower than usual in case he started to hurt again and she had to stop or something. Luckily they weren't too far from the bank, at least not as far as Ryoko had initially thought. She wasn't about to ask why they were going there now since he was having so much trouble talking. She just walked in silence down the empty street.

Re: The Hunger...(EoB)
Finally, they reached the blood bank. The aged stone building looked somewhat shadey in the absence of light. This part of town wasn't reknown for being terribly clean in the first place, probably one of the reasons a blood bank was set up here. People would do anything for drug money, which was a sad concept to even think of. Then again, that's how corperate America worked. Even programs to help people out exploited others in their moments of weakness. How ironic, a program made to help that hinders more than it acctually helps.

Despite this, it wasn't his concern at the moment. Afterall, he needed the blood inside the donar's clinic. The lights had already beens hut off, which indicated this particular bank had been closed up for the night and the last employee gone. This was good. He had experienced the joy of breaking into one clinic that was still being shut down for the day and had to contend with a civilian wrapped up in the notion that she was now being taken hostage in a robbery. It was vexxing, to say the least.

His eyes were now focused on the window, his body eleaviating the weight it had strained the girl's body with. He was now standing, though slouched with hsi feet spread apart to keep his body from tumbling. He swayed slightly for a moment, trying to keep his focus that he had maintained. Then, with one quick jerk of his body, his fist went flying through the large window. It shattered into a thousand pieces, cuts riddling the dunpeal's fist. Unusually, however, the wounds did not heal over but lingered. He was running out of time and needed to get to some sort of source of blood before he went homocidal.

Working through the pain in his hand, he rolled through the window and onto the ground, his jacket proving sufficient to protect his body from further injury. He then got back up to his feet and staggered about, searching for the cooler or large fridge these facilities generally had. It was a mess to watch with furniture being bumped about and papers fluttering everywhere as he tried to keep walking in a somewaht straight line. A fine mess indeed...

Ryoko looked to the stranger she was holding onto, then over to the blood bank. It was shut. " Shit..." She muttered to herself. Now what would they do? The only reason Ryoko was unable to think of that to do was because she didn't even know what he needed the blood for. But before she had time to really think about it, he stopped using her for support and stood up on his own.

Ryoko took a step back from him, and a moment later he punched the window and shattered it. He was... breaking in? This was getting rather serious. As the stranger entered the building, Ryoko jumped through the window. She just stood back and watched him stumble around and bump into things. He really must have been out of it to not notice the furniture, and make a mess like this.

Now where the places where they kept the blood? She'd never actually been to a blood bank before and thus had no idea what they were looking for. Ryoko began to look through the place herself, but she kept her eyes on the stranger in case something happened to him.

Vash tired himself out quite quickly as he thrashed about the room. He was dazed and somewhat confused at this point. Thinking it best to take a breather, the dunpeal slumped over onto a table, his arms helping to support the weight of his body. His body was slowly beginning to feel heavier and heavier once again, his small pocket of spare energy running out. The shadows were beginning to cloud his vision. He could hear the voices in his head begging for him to commit acts of sin. Time was running out and he had no idea what he was going to do.

Then it donned on him: the girl! She could help find what he needed. She had proven helpful thus far, so why not now? He head lolled against the table, looking somewhat in the girl's direction. She seemed lost in the room, probably never having been to a blood bank before. Few had, despite the desire for people to come.

"Fridge..." he gasped out, "cooler...or...fridge..."

Ryoko felt pretty useless at this point, not knowing what they kept the blood in, and still unsure as to why they she was looking for some anyway. Still, he seemed to need it, so she kept trying to find what they were looking for. Looking over to him, Ryoko saw the stranger slumped over a table, probably out of energy or something like that. It just made it that more imperative that she find some blood.

"Fridge..."..."cooler...or...fridge..."

That was rather helpful. Ryoko felt like hitting her head against something for not figuring that one out on her own. In the current situation however, it was rather hard for her to think clearly since she was thrown into such an uncommon situation. " Uh, right." Was all she said to him, before going back to searching.

After a short while, Ryoko came across a rather large fridge. It had a lock on the door, but it was no problem for her to undo. " I found it. What do you need?" She asked, loud enough to the man could here her.

"Anything..." he managed to make out. "Anything...will do..."

Vash slowly turned himself around, leaning backwards against the table. His gaze then went to the girl and the fridge she was beside. Once more, the voices ordered him to simply take the girl's life instead. He was tempted, though will power alone kept him from tearing her apart. He just needed to wait a few more seconds and he would feel the satisfaction of that sweet, salty liquid trickling down hsi throat.

He couldn't stand it any longer. His eyes began to glow a deep crimson red once more, now lit up like a candle flickering violently in the wind. He slowly got to his feet, a rejuvenated strength about him. The girl looked so tasty, and it had been so long since he had tasted fresh blood. Though the thought disgusted his more practical side, his instincts, the darker side of him, was thrilled to have a victim so unawares and so perfect for the taking. Slowly, he stepped towards her with a bit of that drunken swagger, though it seemed mroe controlled now.

"Yes...Any will do nicely." he said, now a calmer and steadier voice about him.

" Well, alright." Ryoko replied. She moved over to the lock and pulled out the usual tools needed for picking one. Within no time the lock was off, and she slid the fridge door open. It was full of little bags of blood, just what you would expect. Taking a step closer to the fridge, Ryoko reached out and grabbed two bags randomly out of the fridge.

"Yes...Any will do nicely."

Hearing his footsteps, Ryoko turned around and walked up to him, handing him the two bags that were in her hands. She still wasn't really game to ask what he wanted them for, since she assumed she'd find out soon enough anyway and there would be no need to ask. Ryoko then pointed to the open fridge. " It's all yours." She commented.

Re: The Hunger...(EoB)
This was his chance. Finally, fresh, warm blood to drink! He was looming over the girl just as she turned around and offered a few packets of blood to him. He stopped, paralyzed with guilt. Had he just been about to take the person who ahd innocently helped him to drain her? The dark clouds of hate and deceit quickly parted for the dunpeal's more rational side to take over. His eyes dimmed to a faded tone of the former red and he stumbled slightly as his body relaxed once again.

Vash took the packets with surprising haste, sinking hsi fangs into them immediately. It was barbaric, almost animal like as he tore into it with such fervour that it seemed as thought the package would burst. He drank greedily, taking in the sweet nectar of life and letting it replenish his strength and sanity. After draining the first package of its contents, he slowly walked over to the table, sat up on it and began drinking the second one in a more humain and dignified manner.

"Excuse me for the trouble" he said with a bit of shame in his tone. "I suppose you find this somewhat horrifying and I would not blame you if you wished to leave now."

Ryoko watched as the stranger sunk his fangs into the bag. The sight scared her a little. But when she'd already come into contact with a Drow, an alien and a werewolf type creature, things didn't scare her as much as they usually would. Still, the scared feeling was still there, she just did her best to cover it up.

As he moved over to the table, Ryoko followed and stood across from him, watching as he drank the second bag in a much more human way than the first. At least now she knew why he needed blood, and she was a little thankful that she didn't ask him about it. Still, maybe already knowing would have made her less scared. Oh well.

"Excuse me for the trouble"..."I suppose you find this somewhat horrifying and I would not blame you if you wished to leave now."

Ryoko was surprised by what he had said to her. It sounded just like what Jacob said when she found out about his transformation. " Don't worry about it. It is a little scary but I can deal with that." The thief replied, giving the stranger a light smile. Her curiosity was sparked when she realised that didn't know his name. " What's your name?" Ryoko asked.

"Ah! Excuse my poor manners as well!" he exclaimed as he remember that they hadn't exchanged greetings yet. "Vash Hellsinger, pleased to make your aquaintence."

He extended his claw-like hand, Still not having had the time to put his stiffling gloves on. They hurt so much, being made for human fingers. It was strange, however, how open he was to this girl. Maybe it was simply the situation, or a slient debt that needed to be repaid. whatever the case, he was clearly more open with her than he would have been with others on a regular basis.

Whatever the case, he was glad someone had come by and helped him. A small smile crossed his face, glad that she understood the crisis at hand. She must have had some assosiation with the school, then. It was the only reason not to be deathly afraid. By the looks of her, which he know had a better chance to absorb, she must have been a student.

'I suppose you are a student at Manga High, so knowing your name as well would be most appropriate." he commented.

Ryoko reached out and shook his claw-like hand, making a mental note about it when she did. " Ryoko Taylor, the feeling is neutral." She replied. Then he mentioned her probably being a student at Manga High. She wondered how he knew something like that about her, and came to the conclusion that he was from there as well, even if she hadn't seen him around the grounds before.

" Yeah, I'm a student. I've been around for about a month." Ryoko began. Her curiosity picked up again as she began to wonder about how he could guess she was from there again. " You're from there too, I'm guessing. How'd you guess that I was?" She asked.

Re: The Hunger...(EoB)
"Simple deduction" he began to explain, taking a sip of the blood packet before continuing. "Most people around here are not privy to the true nature of the school. This leads to most being frightened, or at the very least shaken, by the sight of, well, a half-vampire breaking into a blood bank and then beginning to empty the contents of their stock. *sip!* Granted, you seemed startled, but nothing out of the ordinary for such strange actions. And so, my conclusion was that you had been in contact with some sort of paranormal phenominon before and understood the basis around it."

He took another small drink before continuing his explination once more.

"Ah! Now! The deduction of you coming to this school would probably seem the more far-fetched part of the guess. Well, I simply assumed from your figure, appearence, and what not that you would be of an appropriate age to attend Manga High. *sip!* It was simply a guess, but somewhat logical, at least. I suppose I was just lucky with the gray area that even my deduction could not estimate, as you could have easily been a sibbling of a student."

He gave a small chuckle after his explination. It did seem somewhat long winded. However, the dunpeal was known for making long winded explinations, always having to think out every step of his actions. It was something he had been trained to do as a hunter. You needed to know every possible angle, mistake or consquence of every action you performed during a hunting raid or skilled fight.

"and you would be correct in assuming I attend Manga High as well" he added as an after thought. "I have simply been on business out of the country for the past few months."

It seemed that Vash was very skilled at deducting things, so Ryoko just stood there and listened attentively, with her arms folded in front of her chest. " Very clever." She commented. Ryoko looked back at the front windows to this place. She wondered if people walking down the street would pay attention to the fact that two teenage kids were in the bank and one of them was drinking blood.

Coincidentally, the moment Ryoko turned back to Vash, a man, about 30 years of age, was walking down the street. He was dressed in full black and was probably planning to go rob some random store. He noticed the broken window and dashed across the street to get a closer look. He spotted the two teens just casually in there. He hadn't noticed at that time that one of them was drinking the blood from one of the bags. " Hey you kids! What do you think your doing in there?" He shouted.

Vash's eyes shifted to look at the man outside who ahd decided to point out the situation. He certainly looked like a thug, but there was no proof to such an accusation. After all, Vash probably looked like a criminal, but he certainly tried to be on the level with most of his activities. The only problem was he was now caught in one that wasn't as law abiding as he generally was.

Seeing an opportunity to use his natural gifts, Vash hopped off of the table and began to walk up to the man. He carefully made his way over the window sill, only stepping over rather than making some sort of sudden jump. His steps were loud, the glass being crushed beneath his feet. His jacket blew to the side as a gust of wind picked it up while tossing wrappers about the empty street. A smirk crossed his face as he stared down his opponent, or what looked to be a stare down; it was difficult to tell under the shadows of the hat.

"And I suppose you were off to go give candy to little children? I would keep moving and forget you saw anything, if you knew what was good for you..." he said with a growl in his tone and his eyes flashing red as the threat was made.
