Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Road to Joy
There is, actually, a bouncer outside of the scarred facade of one of the most dangerous nightclubs around. He is an imposing man; extremely tall, extremely large, but also extremely intelligent. What he can handle would startle a god of mischief and chaos into thinking twice about getting on his bad side. And - what he's doing now?
He is staring down at the girl who wants to come in, and there is an expression of sheer, utter bafflement in his eyes. Although on the bouncer, this translates into mild surprise to anybody else.
The girl who wants to come in can't be older than sixteen; well, sure, there are whores who are younger inside. But this girl isn't a whore, although with her eyes, her hair, that calm, virginal air there are some who would probably pay out their ears.
Her eyes are warm gold, beseachingly turned upward; her hair is gold light, ravelled into two buns, long tendrils escaping. She's in a black coat and black pants and has on black gloves that, underneath the coat, go up to her elbows, and her black boots are good for running in, but there's a little pink angel-winged kitten pin pinned to the lapel of her coat, and she looks like fresh meat.
"I'll need to see your ID," the bouncer says, gruffly. His name is Stone, and that's the easiest way to keep these types out. Kids try to come into the Shattered Blessing all the time, if they're brave and stupid enough; usually, they don't check the quality of the IDs shown too closely, but when Stone wants to keep somebody out, it's always an option.
"Will my school ID do?" V replies, simultaneously taking it from her pocket and holding it out so the bouncer can read her name and see the picture.
"Is this name real?" the bouncer asks, after a moment. And, "Yes," Genevieve replies.
Stone looks down at the girl; the girl looks up at Stone. His eyes narrow; hers are wide, girlish and gold. "I'll be right back," he says, and he goes inside to make a phonecall. V looks down the street, her gaze distant and elsewhere. Her attitude is a listening one and she clasps her hands behind her back.
When Stone returns, he returns frowning: "Okay, Miss--"
"V."
"--V. You're here on business?"
"Yes."
"You can go in. Don't drink anything."
Genevieve offers Stone a smile and steps into the Shattered Blessing. Music filters across her consciousness like smoke through the tip of a cigarette--exhale, bad blessings.
"And stay away from the redhaired guy with the filed teeth," Stone adds, and Genevieve, just inside the entrance way, turns around to nod her thanks.
Inside, Genevieve unclasps her hands and looks around. She's not here because she wants to be. She's not here on family business, because her family does not include her in its business, unless it's the business of protecting her, or dispensing an edge. ("Wish me luck, V." "Good luck, Michael." ) She's here, trying on the role of investigator, trying on the idea of doing something for herself.
She's here to find a man named Graham Waters, who hunts spirits and destroys them, and might know where she can find someone she's heard a rumour about...
The only problem is she has no idea what he looks like. No idea what name he's calling himself. No idea where to begin. All she knows is that he's here, somewhere.

Road to Joy
Inside, V is careful and cautious about what she does. The crowd is dense; so is the smoke. Her eyes are stinging; she moves to the side; to the shadows, the better to listen to rumours. She doesn't focus only on rumours coming from shadows, but keeps an ear open for any chance word from the club's patrons. They don't talk to her; she tries to discourage approaches. One grinning man takes a step toward her and she shakes her head, drawing further into the shadows. That's when she hears it. The spirit hunter. His last client...
"Which shadow is his?" Politely, she asks the shadow of a man with spiking hair and huge blunt nose, who turns to stare at the teenager. Is she a whore? ... You can hear? Oh, his shadow is there, dripping in with all of the others. My man is a member of the... "Thank you."
Before the shadow's man can do anything, she slides to the side; puts people between her and him and approaches a man who is sitting at the bar. He's got brown hair, gray at the temples; it drips in ragged spikes around his face, although he pulls it back into a loose ponytail. He's unshaved; there's a rough scar on his neck.
"Hi." V goes over all shy, because -- hey, look. Still only a sheltered, fifteen year old girl. "You're the spirit hunter."
He eyes the girl. Throws back his drink. Doesn't slam it back down; instead, suspicious, wary, soft. He lets the glass kiss the bar-top, and his fingers curl around it protectively; his shoulders are hunched, like a crow's. "How'd you know?"
"Your name is Graham Waters?"
He nods, once. Probably thinks the sound of her room settling is a ghost; well, can still make some money off of ...
"That's correct. Now, I don't come cheap - "
"I was wondering if you could tell me where I might find the Lady of Knives and Mirrors."
Road to Joy
But, in silence at least, Genevieve outlasts him; she is listening to the murmur of his shadow, in response to the name of the Lady of Knives and Mirrors, with her head canted to the side, just so.
Graham: "What's a - what do you want with her?"
V: "Talk. I want to find her and talk to her."
Graham: "What are you willing to give up?"
V: "..."
Graham: "What are you willing to give ME?"
V: "What do you want?"
Graham: "You're in high school, aren't you? Geez, I thought you were one of the whores; you aren't, are you? I'm looking for a boy about your age. Have you seen him?"
From his pocket, the grizzled spirit hunter palms a tiny digital camera from his pocket; without looking at the girl sitting next to him, he thumbs through menus until he finds the right one. Then he holds it up, so she can see it. V looks at the picture for a moment, and when she looks at the spirit hunter she catches his gaze switching away; he was watching her.
V: "No."
Graham: "Pity. Well, if it's not information for information -- "
V: "Money."
Graham: "Keep your money. I'll show you where her shop is, and I'll tell you how to get it. And you, honey, can owe me a favor."
V: "I don't wish to be in debt. Please, tell me how I can pay you for your help."
Graham: "This way."
He stands up, and V looks at him for a second, before she does the same. She trails Graham to the back door, cautious; but nothing whispers of a secret ambush. Then, the shadows aren't always completely forthcoming; he opens the door, and, seeing that V won't precede him, lets her follow.
Re: Road to Joy
((OOC: Sorry, but this just looked fun >.>))
The bar suddenly fell quiet as the doors swung open and a young boy walked in. Everyone's eyes quickly focused on him as he steadily walked through the bar to the counter. Whispers were now the prefered form of communication, speaking of rumours. It was almost as bad as everyone yelling, because everything could now be heard easily.
"I heard he beat up everyone in the bar..."
"Someone told me he closed down the bar..."
"I saw it myself, and he blew up half the place last time he was here."
Alex looked around the bar as he heard the people talking about him. He had a reputation at The Shattered Blessing for causing trouble. At least this time everyone was smart enough to stay away and shut up. The room became quiet after a minute of whispers to see what exactly Alex wanted. Just then, Kagomi quickly skipped to Alex's heels as she did normally. The two then sat down on a couple or bar stools and looked at the bartender. He was paralyzed with fear, remembering the last time Alex had been here.
"Just give me a beer." Alex said.
The bartender didn't even bother asking what brand, as he quickly grabbed a bottle. He then poured it quickly and set the drink and bottle down. The bottle swivled on the counter, making an awfully loud sound in the quiet bar. The tender then quickly stopped it, not wanting to put Alex on edge. The bar then rang into sound once again as it was safe. Unfortunately, anything could happen at The Shattered Blessing.
Re: Re: Road to Joy
Conversation starts up again in a constant, running murmur; the old-timers inform those who weren't there before of the boy's exploits. The bouncer, Stone, keeps an eye on Alex, but what else does he expect? However, Alex isn't ignored by the other patrons. The seat he took just happens to be still warm; the very same seat that Graham Waters so recently vacated. And Kagomi is seated (invisible?) where Genevieve so recently was.
A girl with short, cloudblood red hair and a nose piercing looks over, casual and calloused, from the table that she's at. All alone. She looks about their age, one of The Shattered Blessing's fabled hookers, perhaps. Too young, anyway, to be there, just like him. She looks at him, and then she smirks, cat-soft. Leans over, says, "Boo. You sure caused a stir, didn'tcha. You famous, or just a famous working boy?"
Re: Re: Road to Joy
(OOC: Ohh ohh I can't miss out on this, nope, not a chance.)
Wanting a chance to get off campus Merciah makes a not so common trip to the Shattered Blessing. Last time he was here, Alex, Kasaki and him all ended up in quite a position. With the bar literally in peices. Walking up to the entrance to enter, the bouncer gives him the VIP treatment as he is recognized in his usual turquoise robes. He isn't even spoken to as the bouncer lets the door close behind him.
Entering the bar it doesn't get any quieter as only a few recognize him. Yet those who do remember him being the one who made the bar have trouble keeping bar tenders after what everyone assumed he had done.
Walking up to the bar Merciah sees that the other seat next to Alex is empty. (Not the one with Kagomi) As he takes a seat though, the bartender immediately recognizes him from everything he's heard. Frightened he doesn't even serve him, he simply grabs his bar backer, "The bars yours. Come get me when he's gone." And just as quickly, the barback is standing there dumbfounded when he meets Merciah's eyes.
"A soda please?" Merciah asks.
"Y-y-ye-es. S-s-sure." He barely stammers, while shaking he pours Merciah a Sprite.
"How's it going?" Merciah then asks Alex who he is sitting next to. He nods to Kagomi if she's visible.

Re: Re: Road to Joy
((OOC: Kagomi is completely visible and touchable. She typically now goes in this way now that she can, unless otherwise noted.))
Alex looked over at the girl with a serious face. She was cute, but nothing special. She looked mroe like a tramp than a clubber. This was an immediate turn off for talking to her. He just needed a way to let her down lightly.
"You see this bar? In about thirty seconds it could be gone. I suggest you go now before my bad reputation affects yours."
He then smirked, more solumnly than usual. It was as if he had something on his mind. Maybe someone like him just couldn't stay cheery all the time. His time to vent, be depressed, let all his worries take over and allow them to bother him for just a little while. He then thought he heard someone walk up from behind him. Merciah had shown up and decided to take the stool next to him. He then order a soda as Alex took a sip of his own beverage.
"Not bad." Alex replied to Merciah's question. "Just came for a drink in the old watering hole."
He then laughed a little, remembering the last time they had been here. The place was a mess and even the police had come to chase them down. There was definately a lot of paperwork to fill out for the teachers. He had also gotten scolded by Mr. Shalamar for the little stunt.
"It's been awhile since I've been here, but everyone seems to remember me."
Re: Re: Road to Joy
She huffs, slightly, at Alex's reply. "I was just going to do you a favor, but fine, I don't have to--"
The girl spins around in her seat, and glances, callously, at Kagomi. This is when Merciah takes a seat on Alex's other side, and the poor beleugeured bartender (he's fresh back to the job, having been in rehab for a while; rest and quiet, that's what they said he needed) reacts. Her pretty pink eyes go wide, like, oooooooh.
"WOW, you guys really did cause a stir, didn't you?" The hooker doesn't get the hint. It's been a boring night. "What gang are you guys a part of?"
Re: Re: Road to Joy
"I don't belong to a gang, I take them down. Now could you please stop bothering us? I'm not in the mood to be with some hooker, if you think I'm a good mark."
Alex then turned back to his drin and took a big gulp this time. The cold drink was nice as it eased his mind. Kagomi simply watched the girl, making sure she wasn't going to pull off anything stupid. If the hooker wanted to rumble, she would be ready to take the prostitute on.
It's hard to destroy somebody's facade that quickly, but Alex did a really good job of it. He only said the truth -- but the truth is harsh (kind of like the world, that way). She looks away, and her profile is sad, back to her own table; she and stabs her drink a few times with her straw. The ice cubes clink. No; the prostitute doesn't appear to want to rumble.
"...whatever."

(OOC Sera crawls from the wall of hell to post!!! WOOT!)
Sera walked toward the bar. The sign said abults only and well she really didn't look much older than 12 except for her height. Her angelic form however...With a slight shrug she closed her eyes and her body glowed. When it faded a beautiful winged woman stood there. Smiling at the bouncer she walke din and went over to the bar.
She recived her share of stares, mostly due to her radient light wing and her inky black one. Sitting at the bar she waited for the bartender to acknowledge her.
Re: Re: Road to Joy
"You do tend to leave a memorable imprint in peoples memory." Merciah replies to Alex's remark about being remembered. As the girl that had approached Alex asks about a gang Merciah's brow furrows in dislike at the idea of being a part of a gang, though Alex sets the word straight with the girl, albeit a little harshly.
As Sera enters the bar Merciah is watching the girl walk away in her own dismay when he notices the woman. With a quizical look to Alex, then Merciah notices how awkward he feels trying to show his emotions on his face as he slowly allows his face to return to its normally neutral state.

Re: Re: Road to Joy
As Rayd walked up to the entrance of the bar, the bouncer stopped him, but not for the usual reason he would stop people.
Bouncer: How's it goin Rayd, long time no see.
"It's goin good. I've been back home in Australia but, I had to come back sooo, here I am. Paying ya a visit.
Boucer: Well don't be a stranger buddy. Have a good night.
Rayd nodded to the bouncer and walked into the club. His first destination was the bar and the bartenders face lit up at the sight of the tall, well toned, long haired man who just entered.
tender: Rayd??? I dont believe it, it's been ages how have ya been?
"Good, good. I'll have the usual thanks... So how about you? Been takin care of yourself?
Tender: You know me Rayd, I do my best. Anyway, have a good night, and the drinks on the house.
The bartender handed Rayd his drink and Rayd turned to see the club, he then noticed a few familiar faces. As he walked over towards them, he took a sip of his beer, now being 18 he could do it legally (Dunno if it's the same in the states but just go with it ) Rayd stopped in front of the table they were sitting at.
"V, Alex, Merciah how are we all? Mind if I take a seat?"
He looked to each of the three. Merciah he had known the longest, from ages back when he first started at MHS. V, he had only met recently but she seemed nice enough. And Alex, well Rayd only knew him as the guy who tried to best him on stage at the New Years Dance. In Rayd's opinion, he failed miserably, but other than that, Rayd thought he was a reasonable guy, He then took another sip of his drink as he waited for the trio's answer.
Re: Re: Road to Joy
((OOC: They can supress their aura if concentrating on it, which they wouldn't be doing now. Also, V is not with Merciah and I.))
Alex finally finished nursing his beer and gulped it down. He wiped his moith with the back of his hand. It tasted good, but not as good as the beer back home. He was used to something with a little more kick. But, beer was beer and he would take it anytime he could get one.
"Ahhhh..." he exlcaimed, feeling somewhat refreshed.
Rayd then walked over to the group and said hello. He had seen him around campus both times he had been at school but had never really gotten to know him. He alwasy acted like he had, but it wasn't really true. Pretty much anyone Alex saw for more than thirty seconds he thought he automatically could spit out their life story.
"Hey Rayd, what's sha-"
Before the shaman could finish, he was picked up by a hulking man. He looked to be about 7'0" tall at least, and most likely around 300 lbs. of fat and muscle. The arm he picked Alex up with was as big as a tree trunk and his fist like a ham. The other arm had been severed and replaced by something of an M60 with bullets linked around the man's chest. He wore a red bandana and small little sunglasses in an oliptical shape with the wide ends going horizontally. His dark green vest and jeans completed the not so bad ass look of this thug.
"Hey squirt! Long time no see!" the man said in a harsh voice. "Now it's time to get some payback for blowing off my arm you little punk!"
Alex simply looked at the man in an irritated fashion. He didn't have time for this, nor did he want to have time for it. He was sick of fighting every guy and his dog for a chance to prove they had balls. This guy in particular didn't exactly strike a chord with Alex. The two had met during a robbery downtown and Alex had been shot at by the man with the machien gun that was now attached to his arm.
"I didn't blow your arm off. You tried to blow me up with a grenade and you didn't throw it in time." Alex sneered as his eyes narrowed and looked to the side in a comical fashion.
"Don't get smart with me! It's the same difference!" the man yelled, flailing his arms around quickly with Alex still cultched in his hand like he weighted nothing. "I hope you're ready punk, because my crossairs are now on you!"
Alex simply looked back at the man. His mouth then smirked as his face slowly got an expression that looked like he was ready to fight. Everyone quickly took cover, knowing the extent of the boy's power the last time he had come. Alex then blew back some of his hair so that his face was totally visible.
"Who's going to clock me?" he said in the cockiest yet most serious voice he could muster.
Re: Re: Road to Joy
Merciah looks at the man only for a moment before looking back to his Sprite as though it weren't a problem. "Alex, I only ask that this time, you take him outside so the bar doesn't have to shut down for a few weeks again. Also, I would like to enjoy my soda without having to deal with you bruising someone next to me. So would you please." Merciah asks, not even acknowledging the man that has him in a partial head lock other then his initial glance.

Re: Re: Road to Joy
And then Genevieve is there, the pale, luminous girl with eyes as serious or as inevitable as death. Honey sweet eyes. Where did she come from? Alex, Merciah and Rayd were all distracted by the large bruiser who has Alex in a headlock. She surveys the boys for a half-second; nods her hello.
V does not ignore the large and strong man, though; she pokes him in the bicep. Firm: "Sir. I need to speak to Alex, right now. Alex, please come with me."
The bouncer, Stone, at his doorway, stirs restlessly.
Edited by: quicksilver at: 1/22/06 3:46 pm
Re: Re: Road to Joy
Stone had a reason to be restless. Alex's cocky smirk hade just appeared and that only ment bad news. Everyone in the bar was now watching the exchange and that was how Alex liked it. Anyone who knew Alex's antics knew it was going to get ugly really quickly.
"Yeah. V.I.P.! You're like my little bitch!" Alex said, taunting the muscle bound machine gunner.
That was the straw that broke the camel's back. Everyone in the bar knew it was going to end with one man on the floor bleeding from his ears, but it was just a matter of when. Alex had gotten bored and just wanted to speed things up. The machine gunner, on the other hand, didn't seem too happy. He quickly tossed Alex into the bar and opened fire. The shaman quickly flipped backwards and landed on his feet, using one hand to support himself. As the bullets came a hugesurge of power rushed into Alex's body. His spirit energy levels rose and he quickly flipped over the spray of lead. The bullets flew everywhere into the group of people, yet not a single one hit. As the boy landed, he looked up at the gunner and smirked once more, yet more satanic this time.
"We'll settle this later Geo." Alex said.
The shaman then leapfrogged his way over Geo. pressing his head down.. He then kicked off the man's back and backflipped up, sending his head even further down. This was the perfect position for Alex's attack. The boy came down with a furious axe kick to the head, bashing the man's face into the floor boards. Geo's body then went limp, obviously out cold. Alex landed down standing straight, dusting off hsi shirt a couple times before turning to Genevieve.
"So where are we going?" he asked as if nothing had happened.
Re: Re: Road to Joy
After the titanic Geo's head has been smashed into the floorboards (and with what a mighty sound!), and the dust settles, V pokes her head out of her hiding place, behind Merciah (and the bar), and stands. She straightens; she straightens herself off (and, no one would catch the red under the coat sleeve, as of a ribbon tied around her wrist, which wasn't there before), her motions almost an echo of Alex's, and then: "Outside," she says, as if nothing had happened. And pinching his jacket to get him started, off they go. Outside.
OOC: Er, whoops. I ... thought I replied to this thread ages ago ... >.>
Re: Re: Road to Joy
OOC: No worries as long as it keeps going. It also reminded me that I have some posts I'm sure I've missed too. ^^'
Alex followed Genevieve obediently. He has no clue as to where they were going or why but he decided it would be another adventure. Kagomi went to get up from her seat to follow but Alex simply looked at her and she sat back down. Grumbling a little, the girl turned to Mechia and smiled once again. She decided a good mood suited her best.
"I see the patrons of this establishment have not yet forgotten the last time we came." she said sheepishly.
Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I really am, and why I say this. Come, and I will tell you a tale like none you have ever heard. -The King of Persia
Re: Re: Road to Joy
Alex decided that where ever they were going, it would be an adventure - and Alex seemed to have a particular knack for finding adventure. When Kagomi begins to follow, and Alex looks at her (she sits back down), quiet Genevieve waits and gazes off into the crowd.
Then she winds her way through the crowd, although nobody wants to be close to Alex, now, so there's not too much of a crowd to wind through. The shaman gets quite a few looks, of various kinds: intrigued, angry, interested, flirtacious, amused, fearful.
Genevieve slips out through the front door, passes right by Stone; Stone blows out, like a bull, as Alex passes by him, his glance slightly sardonic. If it's possible for a rock to be sardonic. Once outside, less background noise, Genevieve thinks: nearby alley, all dark and shadowed, the mouth thereof, is a good place to stop. She leans against the wall, hands deep in her coat pockets.
