Lords of Theeurth
If any of you are not playing Lords of the Earth and are interested in it, you should sign up for Scott Stricklin's Lords 52: The Second Awakening. It is the best Lords of the Earth game going but has an inexplicably small player base. This is the one to try if you're only going to try one.
However, if you're up for two, I thought I'd let you know (since you're all former Theeurth players) that I've been working on L54: Lords of Theeurth for the better part of a year now and I'm getting closer to the starting line. It will still be a few months before I've got the program properly altered to support a fantasy game, but there is no longer any doubt that it's going to happen (barring a sudden massive M.I.)
The game includes rules for fantasy races, magic, magical artifacts and adventuring companies. The map took me months to design and create, but it's ready to go. Like all good LOTE games, Lords of Theeurth will include a detailed narrative newsfax.
If you're interested, let me know. I want to gauge interest early.

Oh I wouldn't miss that for that anything. Just have the "caltrop of city destruction" ready.

Re: Lords of Theeurth
Well, they've rebuilt the city, but you can try to destroy it again. It's "Echoriath", the largest city in Theeurth and capital of the Conorrian Empire.
I'm setting the game start in 2780, which is forty years after the events of the Cupbearers campaign (including the Caltrop of Doom), and just after the disappearance of the Black Dragons, but about forty years before the events of my current campaign (in which much of Theeurth has been overrun by nasty badness).

Re: Lords of Theeurth
Bekanor is now a region of Tirgonia (the Black Dragons helped put down the cult-driven uprising there that killed the last Bekanai king). But there's some lovely Rhanalorian barbarians out there, including Tarl Wolf-Paw and his Airnim nomads.
What I think might surprise most of you is how teeny was the area in which we played compared to the length and breadth of Theeurth. Tirgonia is a smallish nation on the northwestern edge of the map.

How could I miss this.... it would be criminal. Speaking of criminals, I'll love to be playing the Daerond. How many Black Dukes does it take to change a light bulb?

I knew there was a vast continent beyond Tirgonia, I just never knew what it was for. Seemed like we were making enough trouble locally without long overland treks.

Indeed. It was for having a place for foreigners to come from...
Actually, though, the Cupbearers traveled to Harkoria, Har'akir and the Conorrian Empire (not to mention the Underdark and Ravenloft). And the Black Dragons traveled to Ascarlon and Changshai.

Re: Lords of Theeurth
I think time has worn away some of the memories. Remember the battle of Thurgabantev? In Harkoria.
Remember the Cupbearer's deaths at the Castle of the Book With No End? Har'akir.
Remember the the death of Balak Friendslayer after he insulted the nomad general? In Changshai (via a teleport - not as much walking...)
And of course, the Cupbearer's entrance into both the Underdark and Ravenloft was under the city of Echoriath (in the Conorrian Empire).
You might not have been around for the Black Dragon's trek to Ascarlon to take on the Death Knight Agrovale (no relation to our favorite paladin, Agravale).

Thurgabantev?
Vaguely remember that one.
Castle of the Book With No End? Har'akir.
Wasn't there.
death of Balak Friendslayer
Wasn't there.
Cupbearer's entrance into both the Underdark and Ravenloft
Nope.
I was at college for a lot of the Cupbearers and Black Dragons campaigns, though I started in '89 or something.

Re: Lords of Theeurth
I recall some adventure in the east when I was playing Marcus. I think Goro was there but I can't be sure. When I was running Corwyn with Nolan playing by snail mail ( I really enjoyed getting those letters a lot more than an email) he went off to some strange island when we sort of stopped playing.
anyhoo I look forward to playing whomever I play.

An Update
Maps - Done (two formats)
1st rules draft - Done
1st web site draft - Done
Map data entered into program - Done
All 80+ starting positions entered into program - Done
Unique units designed and entered into program - Done
Magic Artifacts entered into system - Working on it
Rules finalized - Pending
Web site finalized - Pending
As you can see, most of the work is finished (the map, map data and nation data were the biggest tasks by far). I'm hoping to have this baby up and running before New Year's.
The map is enormous, and I probably won't be using all of it (at least not at the start). So when I get started, I'll put the game online and solicit players for a few weeks. Once we've got a fair starting number (or it's evident that we've got all we're going to get), I'll decide how much of the map we're going to use. Once that's decided, everyone will get to give me a list of their ten favorite positions and then I'll hand out positions by lottery.
The good news is that every place you're ever likely to remember from Theeurth will be in the starting set.
