Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
[as will the training.]
Kezib turns to Sangraal, after realizing that the sun is going down for its rest, "if we have time tomorrow, maybe after morning prayers, would you care to spar for a little bit, get the blood flowing. Thorgal always said that training in the morning was the best. 'Helps your awareness, wakes you up' he said"

Noting the setting of the sun.
"Prayers first Kezib as the sun is setting. Then I'll show you what I did to the foul broo. After that is done, I'll bring you an ale as you nurse you broken ego."
Sangraal smiles.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Madragar gazes across the flooded river to the distant horizon beyond, then, with a shrug, turns to Vala. "There is little choice, I suppose, and should Druuga return we are safer amidst this company than any other we know. We shall simply have to wait, and hope."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
A loud and hearty laugh is heard within the long house as Kezib replys "You have never been short on ego, my friend". Still snickering and giving Sangraal a hearty pat on the back "Then let it be done, show me how you fell those nasty broo and I will show you why the broo ran in the first place"

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
"Oh come on Kezib! You're not gonna get naked again are you?"
Elbowing Yimris in the side, Atan laughs loud and heartily. After his prolonged bout of laughter Atan wipes a tear from his eye. Still chuckling to himself he makes his way to the keg.
[Atan thanks Hegi for the bandages and salve. He also offers that, "Should Werthyn ever need dire help I can promise at least the assistance of myself and Yimris."]

[Madragar, I think I misinformed you earlier. Tunlura is on the west side of the river, only a few hours walk from Werthyn. Thasvara and Raven's Gate are on the east side.]

Draxim returns to his companions with a new set of clothes and several other upgrades. He presents Ruig with a new and properly altered set of clothes and smiles merrily as he pulls a mug of ale from the keg. Catching Nrulias by the arm, (dwarves do that because people tend to overlook them) he asks in a conspiritorial tone, "Any chance of getting a back pack or a spare crossbow string?"

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
After a good long draft of mediocre, yet crispy malted beverage, Draxim booms, "Meneloss! Where are you, you pixie bastard! It is far past time you and I shared a drink!" he laughs loudly. Noting the fearful looks on some of the onlookers at his boisterousness, he expostulates to no one in particular, "Fine ale this. Simple, but quite drinkable!"

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Meneloss flinches at the sudden shouts of Draxim. When he recovers, his face is bisected by a huge grin which is made crooked by the old scar. He fills his mug and crashes it with exhuberance upon Draxim's tankard. "Pixie eh? Then you must be a gnome!" In a second, the mug is drained and is quickly filled again. He goes on to Draxim: "Ah, I see you have found new clothes. They are much better than the holey rags you had on before!" This Meneloss finds very funny and giggles. "To new clothes!" He raises his mug, looking the dwarf in the eye. Again he drinks quickly and the mug is finished. As he is on his third, Meneloss smiles dreamily and raises his mug to his companions: "To Old Kerlew! And the giant who dwells there! I should like to see him, by Yelm's teeth!" As he toasts, the elf looks each of his companions in the eye, even quiet Ruglan. After he looks them in the eye he takes a large quaff of the beer, but instead of finishing manages a loud belch, which sets of a tipsy guffaw.
Then his face screws up in a look of slight consternation and becomes serious. He leans in to Draxim, placing a hand on his shoulder "Draxim, Perhaps you might replace the oil now that more is available? I would not mention it but I have a light pouch these days, and I need all my silver."
[*note to players: Meneloss has improved in Moagari with the help of Atan and Madragar... Though his accent is still thick and at times hard to understand... truth be told, I just can't write in pidgin anymore]

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Eased back in his chair, Atan takes a good chug of his ale and smiles contentedly. Leaning towards Yimris, who has joined him by the fire, he nods towards the exuberant Draxim and Menelos. "Those two keep this up. It ought to be good. A copper says that dwarf gets cut off before the moon is up."
Spying Ruig making his way back from the keg, Atan raises his mug in salutation, "Master Dwarf, please join us by the fire. There is much I would like to ask."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
[Kezib can buy clothing from the list I provided a few messages up. It's 1 silver for one set of simple clothing.]
Ruig strides over to the increasingly inebriated clutch of elves and eases onto the bench, keeping his eyes on his frothy mug and careful not to spill a drop. "Ask away, but ask quick before the ale makes you weave like a willowreed."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Atan settles back onto his chair, mug half full resting on his knee. "Just wanted to hear about you and your alcolyte. I have not had the pleasure of meeting many dwarves and am interested in whence you hail. How did you and Draxim come to Grugni's? I'm sure it wasn't just that keen nose for chaos you've got."

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Meneloss goes on to Draxim: "Draxim, you are... a metal-smith, yes? I would like to talk to you about this, for I too have some skill in the... charms of making. One day, we should get a forge burning." He digs into his pack to gnaw some leftover vennison, or is it rabbit? Meneloss cares not for he is merry with ale and hungry from the day's march. The cold meat tastes good and helps to counter the three quick mugs of ale, which are indeed going to the young elf's head. He looks down to his Dwarven drinking companion. With his mouth still full of fatty cold meat, he says "Mamph fum?" brandishing a lumpy half eaten bone in Draxim's face.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Ruig rises and takes a deep breath. Atan gets the impression that he was hoping someone would ask.
"It was on a warm autumn afternoon, east of lovely Lusing. The shadows drew long across the road beside a little tavern. I had encountered a farmer there who's name escapes me. He spoke of a patch of black earth in his field. I immediately surmised the man was not up to the challenge of solving this mystery and bade him show it to me forthwith. It was then that I met young Draxim, fresh out of Dobrug. A fortuitous meeting, for we would be fighting for our lives ere the sun fell beneath the horizon."
Ruig's eyes flash as he spins his tale. At times he leans in quite close to his audience for emphasis, his leathery face wrinkled and contorted. The dwarf does not spare the hand gestures either and washes down each sentence with a swig of ale.
"The farmer was right about one thing. The black scar that ran sixty feet through his field was altogether unnatural. It was as if the earth itself were dead, and the stalks of wheat limped to the ground in shrivelled blackness. I had heard of a similar occurance outside the village of Lusing along the Nral river. The people there ignored such a scar until it grew very long indeed. Then, one dark evening, a horde of murderous night creatures burst from the black earth and ripped and clawed their way through a dozen farmhouses."
Ruig drains the rest of his mug and passes it to one of the enthralled farmboys who scurries over to the keg, eager to hear the rest of the tale.
"Raising my hammer to the fading sun I called on the strength of the Storm Bull!" The priest's voice raises to the rafters and the entire longhouse falls silent.
"Urox! The Mighty! Woe to the beasts of Chaos! I struck the earth with my hammer and the scar was broken! The field was ripped open and the dead did rise from the wound! In moments they were upon us, Draxim and I."
Ruig begins to talk quickly, in short breaths. His hammer is in his hand as he swings it left and right, smashing invisible foes.
"First, Draxim used his crossbow but it was to no avail. They were living skeletons with claws like razors. They hissed and growled and threw themselves upon our hastily built barricade. We smote at them as they came on. My hammer struck and the corpse dust flew into the air! Draxim's morningstar smashed to the left and right, and their limbs were shattered! They reached for us with those claws, those hideous claws! Draxim was cut once, twice, but still he fought on. We stood eye to eye with the Great Enemy. They knew no pain! They knew no mercy! But the Storm Bull is strong! Urox the mighty! And there, in the autumn twilight, we left their bones shattered on the silent earth. That day, in that nameless place, Chaos was defeated..."
Ruig takes a final pull from his mug and sits down on the bench.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
Kezib turns to find some new clothing when the voice of Ruig raises.
Quickly turning to see the animated story telling, Kezib smiles. Wanting to hear more, Kezib puts off his quest to purchase new clothing for now.
After Ruig falls to his seat, Kezib applauds to himself. "Now thats a story teller" Kezib says to himself. Shaking his head as to say "Amazing" Kezib slowly meanders seeking new clothing.

Re: Sweet,sweet beer...
As Ruig sits, Atan is completely hunched forward in his chair. Elbows on his knees, mug cradled in both hands, he is totally enthralled in the dramatics of Ruig.
As if shaken from his stupor, he stands and with a step forward he crashs his mug into Ruig's. "Now THAT is a tale for the fire side! Ruig and Draxim, fighters of shadow!"
Then he downs the remaining ale in his mug. "Here, let me get you a refill.", he offers.
When Atan returns he delivers to Ruig a mug so full it is slopping over the rim and on to the floor. "Sorry. A little full."
Returning to his chair, "That was a good story, but tell me, Lasing is a ways from Grugni's. What brought you East?"
