Eager to depart
Yimris starts looking around to make sure he has gathered all his belongings, but then bows to mistress Grungi, lays a silver on her table and steps outside.
"We should start while there is still light."

Re: Eager to depart
It is currently about two hours after dawn. There is an autumn chill in the air, though much of the fog has cleared. The sky remains heavily overcast.

Re: Eager to depart
After checking his equipment he goes over to Yimris and they go through a well practiced inspection of each others gear to ensure nothing has been forgotten. The exchange ends abruptly when Atan dashs back into the house. He returns with his cloak and throws it over his shoulder. "I hope everyone has some warm clothes. I think it will be quite chilly tonight. Is everyone ready to go?" Shifting to elven he obviously addresses Yimris.

Meneloss gathers his kit and stands next to his Elven comrades. In Elven he says:"It is good to be with my people once again. Like the ancient legends of Viv the Huntress, so too shall we relentlessly pursue our foes."

Sangraal his face partially obsured by his steel imperial helm smiles as a ray of sunlight briefly breaks through the thick clouds.

Re: Eager to depart
Sangraal and Ruglan both are going to be none too stealthy. They aren't wearing armor that is any heavier than what Yimris is wearing, they just don't have any training in keeping silent while on the move.

"Yimris and I will take turns on point. The rest will follow 100 yards behind. About mid-day we can switch up. The ground is soft due to last nights heavy downpour so we should be able to track them easily."

And awaaaay we go.
Meneloss says to Atan in Elven "I am able to keep quiet, but I do not have your tracking skills. Maybe two of us (he points to himself, Yimris and Atan) should be up front? Whatever you decide I shall defer to, as this is your area of expertise. However, when it comes to spellcraft I am the expert here" Meneloss smiles after his last sentence. In common he blurts "Why are we wait?" Then he restlessly looks about to Yimris and Atan.

Re: And awaaaay we go.
With Atan and Yimris in the lead the group moves swiftly to the tower. Picking up the trail of the broo again they follow it southeast into a forest of young pines. For an hour or more they pick their way through the rolling hills and sparsely wooded areas south of the coast road.
While Yimris is ahead of the main group, keeping them on the track of the broo, Atan reveals to Meneloss, Ruglan and Sangraal their pursuit of the creatures from the south. They moved in short sprints, stopping periodically while their leader, an impressive elk-headed broo, crouched low and made some sort of distrubance on the ground... throwing bones, drawing pictures, deficating - who knows? When the elk broo rose, however, the pack moved off in a slightly different direction than before. It was like the leader was making corrections to their course through this unfamiliar territory. The broo also made no attempt to hide their trail despite their slow speed overland.
The broo today, however, are not moving in this pattern. They are ripping across the landscape at full speed, as evidenced by the tracks of their long, ground-eating strides. The pack is moving generally south by southeast, keeping to the low points of the terrain whenever possible. Thankfully, there aren't any farming settlements this far from Tunlura.
Noon arrives with no sign of a change in the broo movement. Even running the humans and elves would not be able to catch broo at their top speed, and tracking is delaying the group even further. Everyone is starting to grope in their packs for vittels when Atan returns from his position out front.
The broo have split into two groups, or so it seemed. Atan inspected the tracks and saw evidence that the pack split, then doubled back and continued on their original course. It is fortunate that he was not fooled by the broo trick, but it does raise a problem. The broo know, or at least believe, they are being followed.

"Atan, they will almost certainly set a trap or an ambush next. Perhaps we should have one of us on point, and another off to the side 20 or 30 yards?"

Re: And awaaaay we go.
"I agree Yimris, an ambush awaits us. I'm just not sure of the best course of action. The best thing we can do is to be vigilent on point so as to learn of the threat in time to warn the others. They may even loop around behinds us and then attack from behind. We have lost the element of suprise and our task will certainly be harder. I say we press on with greater vigilence and reevaluate at the end of the day."

Noding in acknowledgement Sangraals utters an old Moagarii farmers oath.
"The skulking fox may take a chicken, but the tenacity is in the hound."
Sangraal adjusts his pack, he stance leaving no doubt that he is in for the long haul.

To Yimris, Meneloss replies in elven. After a few bites of food and a pull on his waterskin,he looks to Atan and says in Moagari "Let us go with small delay. We are hounds for foxes, but we should be like foxes for foxes, hounds is loud."

Broohounds
Atan at a brisk walk, tears a bite of salted jerky and laughs a short joyfull laugh. He raises his bow in salute, "It makes me proud to be amongst the stout hearted for this day may end badly indeed!"

Re: Broohounds
Atan continues on at the front of the group tracking the broo while Yimris follows slightly behind and about fifty feet to his right. Sangraal, Ruglan and Meneloss, not knowing how to track on their own, are forced to keep the rangers in sight at all times and thus cannot remain more than a hundred feet behind them.
The hunt continues for another hour or so and it is mid-afternoon when Atan halts. Yimris does the same and signals back to the others to stay where they are.
Atan at first hears a slight clinking sound - not of metal but of bone. Moving forward cautiously he discovers some sort of primitive marker or shrine in the center of the broo trail. It is comprised of a thick branch maybe a foot in length driven straight into the ground. Atop the stick is the skull of some small forest animal, probably a fox. Hanging down from the skull, and swaying back and forth in the breeze, is the creature's spine tied together with a thin strand of vine. If it had flesh it would look like a fox-headed snake.
The rest of the animal is nowhere to be found.
