Re: Broo Witch Project
[Wary of an ambush, Atan takes a few minutes to look, listen and try to sense chaos. If nothing, then he will investigate the fox-snake skeleton closer. How long does it appear to have been there? Do the Broo tracks lead up to this marker (as if they built it?)?]

After a few minutes Atan waves the group forward and calls out, "Yimris, get Meneloss and Sangraal. I don't think I know what this thing is."

Re: Broo Witch Project
Inspecting the area, Atan believes that only the broo have passed here recently and the vines that were used to construct the little fetish are fresh.

Re: Broo Witch Project
Meneloss says in Elven to Atan: "They have been in a hurry all day, but now they take time to create this thing. Very strange indeed. This sword, like many, has two edges to its blade. One is they have slowed down and maybe close, the other is they maybe close." [Meneloss will try to identify if there is a spell associated with the fetish with his spellcraft (+7).
He also uses his spot and listen checks (+7/+4) to scan for danger/signs of Broo.]

Re: Broo Witch Project
[Meneloss has no idea what this is. The ways of Chaos are strange indeed, and their magic even stranger.]

Meneloss scans the surrounding forest with its tall grasses and sparse pines, but he sees no sign of the broo.

Re: Broo Witch Project
[ Does it look like its a new construction? or has it been there a while, Atan with his tracking skills should be able to figure that out. if its been there a while it could be a boundry marker for there territory. We are headed south right?]

Re: Broo Witch Project
[From above: "...the vines that were used to construct the little fetish are fresh." The broo are currently heading south by southwest.]

Re: Broo Witch Project
[unless objections]

"Good, the more they stop to play with bones the better chance we have of catching them." Atan draws his sword and hacks the fettish down. Sheathing it again, he recovers his bow and sets out following the trail.

Re: Broo Witch Project
Atan and Yimris resume their positions, leaving the primitive effigy in pieces on the forest floor.

The group moves another mile or so to the south when Atan makes another discovery. The broo have taken a sharp left, moving due east toward Tunlura. It is now about two hours to sunset.

[Is it possible to determine if we have closed the distance between us and our quarry? Estimate how far ahead they are?]

Re: Eager to depart
[It is possible, but Atan and Yimris cannot tell for certain. They are still relatively inexperienced. From the amount of time the broo spent moving at top speed, minus whatever it took them to build that little shrine, Atan guesses the broo are at least five miles ahead of them.]

Re: Eager to depart
[We could catch up to them in a hour then if they stop for the night. What is the stamina of a broo?]

Re: Eager to depart
Broo have amazing stamina. Atan and Yimris believe they could keep up their current pace for most of the night if they wanted.

Re: Eager to depart
"The Broo haven't slept much but there is no telling if they will stop or not. If we press through the night and they stop, we can catch them. If they keep going and we stop, we lose them. If they keep going and we keep going, they will probably get away for their stamina will surely give them the advantage. I say we press on through the night and try and force an encounter. If we don't get them by morning we will probably have to stop anyways."

"I say we keep on going. Although we must be wary of an ambush in the dark." "Do these Broo not sleep?" "I thought they were creatures of the night."

Broodiddlydoo
Meneloss nods in assent with his companions. "Maybe they has to stopping to make more fox fishes. That is most we hope for. If running all the night, we might be very tired for fighting Broo."
Meneloss takes advantage of the pause to relieve himself by a tree a few yards off the trail. After he is finished he pours a little water from his waterskin to clean his hands.

Re: Broodiddlydoo
The hunters continue their trek, now moving due east toward the cultivated lands outside Tunlura. In only a half hour or so the sparsely forested hills give way to a rolling grassland that seems to drop slowly away toward the lowlands along the banks of the Rhevas River. The hills get smaller and smaller as the five move farther away from the setting sun.

A short time later, perhaps an hour after the broo track turns eastward, Yimris (who has taken over tracking duties) stops the group and has a conference with Atan. It seems that the hooved tracks of the elk-headed broo, their apparent leader, are no longer among those of the broo travelling east. By their count that leaves five broo moving swiftly toward Tunlura, and their leader unaccounted for.

Madragar's crow, now much more visible outside the forest, swoops down onto the bare gray surface of a small boulder and stares at the group.

Re: Broodiddlydoo
"The important one is the elk head. He needs to be spitted on Humakt's sword. The others seem to be common Broo. I think chasing them down is less important than finding elk head."

Yimris is trying to figure out when elk head's tracks were last seen, but is thinking it likely that it was at the fox head fetish.

Re: Broodiddlydoo
Meneloss replies to Yimris in Elven then he adds in common; "We need to catch group. One Broo is hard to find, more Broo kill the farmers. Sangraal, Ruglan what is your minds?" After speaking he bites some trail food and sips a little water.
