Re: Hoof in mouth?
"Very well," Hegi concludes. "I'll have Nrulias find a place for you in the workhouse."
Sadly for the hopeful young men and elves of the group it is not the nubile Shala that comes to tend their wounds but a greasy, bedragled young man with almost unnatural body odor. He is Khras, and despite his boyish looks is apparently a disciple of Heig. Uttering a few prayers beneath his breath to Chalana Arroy, Khras closes what few wounds remain on Yimris, Atan and Sangraal.
Nrulias returns as some of the other village folk carry Hegi away beyond a curtain in the main hall. He leads the group to a nearly empty hut near the bonfire in which several sleeping pallets are layed out on the floor. They are made mostly of wool and straw, but look very inviting to the sleepy crew.

Sweet Sleep
Carefully laying out his bedroll on the straw bed nearest the door, Sangraal carfully situates his gear. Placing his bundled prayermat as a makeshift pillow at the head of the matress, he begins to unbuckle his armor. Strained muscles and sore joints hinder his movments as he lets his armor fall uncermoniuosly to the floor of the hut before moving it beside his pack.
" I will rise with the dawn to greet Yelm and have no wish to disturb you all sleeping so I will take the one closest to the door".
Sangraal utters a short prayer to Yelm before sleep quickly overtakes him.

Re: Hoof in mouth?
Meneloss unbundles his leather armor and curses Draxim for having taken his oil. With an old rag he cleans his armor and lays it out. He reaches into his tunic and brings out Angewitta. The small grey serpent appears to be almost black in the low light. It flicks its tongue inquisitively. Meneloss strokes the creature under its chin and bends over the thing whispering. Then to the amazement and horror of everyone, he lets it slip out into the hay. "Be careful for my friend. He hungers and looks to get mouse tonight. He harms nobody."
Then the elf lays out his bedroll and bunches some hay for a pillow. In an instant he is asleep.

Re: Sweet Sleep
Atan picks a corner of the hut and lays out his bedroll for the night. Taking off his armor and weapons he carefully arranges them against the wall by his bedroll to ensure an orderly retrieval should speed be necessary.
"I guess we have no need for watchs tonight for the village men have the duty. We should rise early so we can get back to Grugni's in the time we told the others."
Pickig up the bundle of new clothes he asks the young disciple of Hegi if there is a washing area he could use before settling in.
[If the answer is yes then Atan will go and wash off the weeks worth of grime taking his sword with him. He will also clean his woodland garb and hang it so it will dry by the morning. Even if the washing area is outside and it is a little cold he will still go. When he returns he will be wearing the clothes given by Hegi]
[If the answer is no then he will lay down and go to sleep.]

Re: Sweet Sleep
[Atan washes his face in a rain barrel.]
Sleep comes quickly to anyone seeking it. No one stirs during the night so heavy are their limbs from the day's exertion, even when several of the locals stumble into the hovel in their drunkenness and pass out. The three farmers, all under twenty years of age, lay motionless in the back of the workhouse as the first light of dawn creeps through the open door.
Sangraal awakes to the sound of activity around the bonfire which is less than twenty feet from the door of the house. The dying embers of the fire are kicked back into life by Khras, Hegi's disciple, and fed with heaping piles of dry timber. Sangraal can see that the young maidens who were kneeling before the bonfire the previous night are still there and don't appear to have moved. He recalls that some rituals, particularly the fertility rites of Chalana Arroy, can take days to complete and certain powerful prayers are used to allow the participants to endure the rigors of such a long ceremony.

Morning Prayer
The chill in the morning air causes Sangaal to shiver as he unwraps himself from his bedroll. Careful not to wake the others or disturb Meneloss's pets quest for food, Sangraal takes the chance to change into the clothes provided the night before. Grabbing his prayermatt then slips out into the morning light.
Sangraal nods to the Khras, Hegis disciple, who spotting movement in the corner of his eye turns to face Sangraal, recognizing him as no concern he goes back to tending the fire.
Spotting the highest ground he can find with in a safe distence to camp. Sangraal with prayermatt under his arm heads to greet Yelm.
[ OOC: When I first read the post I could only think of poor Dany waking up to Matt B. doing Tasha Yar 2 feet from his face. Danny stepping on them on his way out was awesome.]

Re: Morning Prayer
[The highest ground? That would be a hill about a quarter mile outside the village. The theology Sangraal was taught tells him that worship should be done in a practical manner so that the day's work can be begun. Making a long walk just to do his morning prayers wouldn't be appropriate.]
One by one, Ruglan, Atan, Yimris and Meneloss stir from their deep slumbers. Their bedrolls are seductively warm, however, and the morning is crisp and cold.

Re: Sweet Sleep
Sitting up Atan feels clean and refreshed. Stretching his arms in the air he grunts satisfactorily and then scratches his head. Getting up slowly, he carefully wanders over to check if his woodland garb is dried after last nights washing.

Re: Morning Prayer
Meneloss gets up and bathes at the rain barrel. He washes his hands and face. Looking at his filthy clothes, he wishes he had the foresight to wash them as Atan had. At least there are clean garments he thinks as he dons the new clothes. He places the old clothes folded in his pack. Perhaps Grugni can clean them he ponders. Searching through the hay, Meneloss gathers up his familiar. Sitting crosslegged, Meneloss begins to intently to study his old scrolls. After about an hour, when he is through, he sees about getting some breakfast.

Re: Sweet Sleep
The cold morning has everyone moving slowly, and the villagers at least don't seem to be in much of a hurry either. One by one the people of the 'burg rise from their huts and head for the longhouse where the sounds of cooking can be heard. Any farmers that spent the night in the safety of the village walls begin to make their way home.

Re: Sweet Sleep
After changing clothes back to his woodland garb, Atan rolls up his bedroll, fold up his new clothes and packs his backpack. Walking over to Menelos who is studying his scrolls, "Do you mind watching our stuff while I go and see if there is any food to be had? I'll get you a bowl."
Stepping over to Yimris, who seems sound asleep still, he taps him in the ribs with his boot, "Get up lazy. Gad! what a morning face." Laughing, Atan squats on his haunches. "Hey Quendë, you want something to eat before we hit the road?"

Re: Morning Prayer
Yimris sits upright quickly, axe in hand and looks around wildly. He smiles a little sheepishly when he realizes that it's just Atan.
Once out of his bedroll he begins to carefully stretch. After being almost killed and then healed he wants to make sure everything still works the way it did before.
He looks over at Atan and says, "I still need to repair my weapon, and should also either get stock for arrows, or some more here."
"If we keep meeting Broo the way we have been I might have to start carrying two quivers."
"Perhaps this morning we should do some hunting to make up for the food and rest they have so generously provided. I think a deer would probably be more welcome than some silver here."

Re: Sweet Sleep
Leaping back from the axe-wielding elf, Atan laughs even harder. Affter listening to his friend Atan suggests that they don't have enough time to go hunting.
"I agree they could use more food but our companions we left back at Grugni's are expecting us by the end of the day. If we are late they may assume us lost. "
Looking over at his quiver Atan remembers that they do need some bow strings and more arrows. "Well, get your stuff on and lets go ask Nrulias if he can spare any extra strings. Right after we eat that is. I told meneloss I'd get him a bowl."

Re: Morning Prayer
Abandoning his attempt to find a far vantage point inwhich to pray from, Sangraal opts for high ground nearby the main lodge. Muddy water that has collected in small puddles around the encampment leaving Sangraal with the choice of wet cold muddy feet or a game hopscotch. With the nimble footing of a raging bull, he makes his way to a small firm spot just high enough to have already drained away the excess rain water from two nights ago.
Unbundling his prayermat, he kneels in genuflection and greets the morning. His prayers to Yelm are short today as Sangraal feels the need to return to Gurgnis home to see how Kezib and friends faired under the tower.
Upon returning and finding his most of his compagnions await Sangraal begins buckling on his armor and buffing the dried mud from his short plumed helmet.
" What shall we make of this day?" he asks.

Got to go
"Grab some food and do what you got to do. If we roll in an hour then we should get back to Grungni's about dusk." Atan and Yimris head out to the longhouse to find some food and Nrulias.

Re: Food
Meneloss finishes his studies and gathers up his things. He puts on his crusty leather armor and is a bit upset to see some nurgle rot forming on the leather. Nothing some oil and a stiff brush can't fix but just the same, once it starts, it is difficult to control, and he has neither the money nor the materials to make a new suit.
He braids the front of his hair into two cords which he then ties back around his headwith a bit of thong to keep hair from his face. While fiddling with his hair, he wishes the fine young Shala were grooming him. He begins a melencholic daydream of days gone past and of Celendenna the most beautiful elf in all of Sanaveysil.
It is in this state that Atan finds him, when he returns with the food.

Sitting for breakfeast
Securing the last buckle on his worn armor Sangraal begins arranging his gear and packing up his bedroll. This is a quick chore and Sangraal quickly finds himself packed and ready to go. Leaving his gear momentarly unattended he goes to fill his waterskin, on his way there the inviting scent of hot food leads him into the lodge insearch of a warm meal.
