Re: The Tower
Apparently, Ruig had been rolling the coin over in his hand as he inspected the inscriptions... a kind of nervous habit maybe. He hands the coin over to Draxim then, seeming to snap out of his musings, "well, it makes no sense to me. I'd be interested to see if we could damage it, though. Smash it to pieces."

Re: The Tower
Draxim nods his head in agreement. "I don't know though. I haven't seen any blemishes or cracks in the surface of the walls anywhere. You would think there would be at least a couple, even if it was only made recently. Just be careful. Are the writings magical at all?"

Re: The Tower
"I've but one charm to see the auras of Power," responds Madragar, "and I wonder if we won't need it more in some later chamber."
"I wonder, also, whether destroying this thing is worth our effort. The Empire did not seem to think so, and they surely had more power than we. No, I suggest that we fare down this tunnel to see what lies there."

Re: The Tower
Ruig shoots back, "or maybe the Imperials wanted to keep it safe, for study. Those bastards were a strange lot... not entirely an enemy of Chaos, if you know what I mean."

Re: The Tower
Upon entering the cave, Kezib notices that there isnt a prime place to hide, just remains quiet and tries to remain alert in his crane stance, trying to spot anything or hear anything other than the groups conversations.

Re: The Tower
Draxim speaks to Ruig is dwarvish and brandishes his Morning Star. [gm note]
He then moves quietly over to the entrance and peers down the hall again.
[He will attempt to scout down to the bend, hiding and moving quietly.]

Re: The Tower
"Perhaps," concedes Madragar. "Still, I think we might be best served to save our resources for whatever might lay at the end of the tunnel. We can always come back and try to resolve this later."

Re: The Tower
"I agree with you tarondar" Kezib finally says, breaking his silence. "There is something more pressing, I feel, than destroying the door here. We need to save our strength and what not so that we can defeat anything that is out there. May Yelm have mercy upon us down in the depths of this earth.
Kezib looks to the ceiling (looking for anything out of the ordinary as much for drama), rubs his head, with the stubble growing back. Scanning each face of the party, he gains peace knowing that each of these people of this party are all in the same boat as he. Not knowing the future, but willing to accept it for whatever path fate has for them.

Re: The Tower
Ruig looks at Kezib, wondering what "door" the young man is talking about. Then, to Madragar, "resources? I was just planning on hitting the inscriptions with my hammer."
Ruig hefts the stout warhammer onto his shoulder and starts looking over the surface of the inscribed wall for possible cracks or weaknesses.
Draxim disappears down the southwestern tunnel.

Re: The Tower
"I was referring to the fact that Draxim asked whether the runes were magical. I would need to expend magical energy to find out, and my resources are almost depleted for the day. Where is Draxim, anyway?"

Re: The Tower
"He went somewhere down that tunnel I think," Ruig mumbles without looking up from his inspection of the wall carvings. Then, apparently finding a good spot to deliver his blow, Ruig hefts his warhammer and makes a great two-handed swing at the wall. The sound of the impact is instantly muffled by the unnatural stillness in the air and there is no apparent damage to the wall.

Re: The Tower
Draxim comes creeping out of the shadows from the west as Ruig continues to inspect the inscriptions.

Re: The Tower
"Barrels? Hmm." Ruig intones. "I'm hesitant to leave this smoking pit of Chaos behind us, but I'd be interested to see what's in those casks."
Ruig seems like he is anxious to pound something with his hammer, and is getting a little frustrated that Chaos is not showing its face so he can do just that.

Re: The Tower
Madragar, meanwhile, feels just the opposite - anxious that Chaos might yet reveal itself.
"Let us move on, then," he says, heading toward the tunnel from which Draxim has just returned.

Re: The Tower
Ruig looks pleased. "Yes, these inscriptions defy me... for now."
The group moves to the mouth of the tunnel. It is the same as the entrance tube in that it is made of the same smooth, undulating stone. The tunnel descends about thirty feet before turning sharply to the right.

Madragar waits for the others to go first before following close behind with his torch held tightly in one hand and his crossbow in the other.
