Little House on the Praire.
Draxim, not wishing to cause stress or bickering during such a critical juncture, leaves the big house and goes and hides in the outhouse. Sangraal may now organize the defenses however he wishes. He will make a shooting hole and an aiming hole facing the house so that he can fire unobserved. As he leaves, he says with a tear in his eye, "Ruig if you should find my dead body in the midden, just please don't leave it there. May Urox guide our hands."

Re: Little House on the Praire.
Draxim gets about halfway across the yard before the back door flies open and an incensed Ruig bellows out a few choice words in dwarvish. The angry dwarf then slams the door shut.

Re: Little House on the Praire.
Once all preps are done Atan heads back to the house one last time to look around. Face stoic and grave he spies Ruglan and moves over towards him. Shaking his hand he speaks in quick and hurried Moagarii, "Ruglan Brooslayer, I don't know how well this will all work but I wish you luck. May you continue to fell the beastmen by the score."

Turning to Sangraal, head bowed respectfully, "Yelm has chosen this path and ultimately this place for a reckoning with Chaos. You are his chosen agent in this. May we all walk in his light."

Nodding towards Ruig, "Master dwarf. I have seen you use your hammer in story of battle and if those who oppose us had seen you, they would flee and never return."

"Kazib, never have I seen a man fight animal-men with nothing but his hands and live. You have a warriors heart but...." Atan leans forward and stage whispers, "get a sword. You make me nervous fighting like that." With that his characteristic grin breaks out and it seems his tension is cut.

Looking up towards the two Mages in the rafters he calls, "Madragar the Mad! This time there are no peasants to save only ourselves. Good luck! "

"Meneloss.....Quendë otorno! See you soon.... on this side or the other." Atan's gaze falls back to the main floor. Sweeping from side to side he appears to be looking for something, "Where's Draxim?"

With a shrug of his shoulders he turns and returns to the field with Tagra and Yimris. Once there he stashs his backpack about a hundred yards to the north for later retrieval.

Re: Little House on the Praire.
Sangraal looks around sheepishly as Draxim leaves.
He speaks in a hushed tone.
"It seems I hav offended Draxim. I apoligize to everyone. I just do not wish to bury anybody in the morning. We must build defenses as best we can. Do we wish to guard 3 points of entry or 6? Its easier to guard 3. Lets us build the baricades. If anybody thinks this is not a good choice speak now."

[OOC: Does everybody understand how I described the defenses? positioned to cut the house in half. So whatever door the broo are at the defenders can move to the other side of the barricade to get cover bonuses. If the broo try and move past into the house then we should get AOA on them.]

Good point. During combat I assume that every still has their packs on. Certain maneuvers are more difficult while carrying a heavy or awkward backpack, such as climbing, swimming and jumping. If you want to drop your pack for a battle say so. It can be done as part of a move equivalent action.

Re: Little House on the Praire.
[Halle, it KEzib, not Kazib :) ]

Wrapping his arms over Atans shoulder he says in hushed tones "I thank you for your concern. My ways are different than your ways. We both have reached the same paths in life going different ways. I choose not the quick ways of killing, but I choose the way of Yelm, in hope to bring light where there is darkness. I speak with my hands, and if they dont get the point across clearly, I use my staff. She has clarified many points in her short life"
With that Kezib smiles at Atan and says "May Yelm smile upon you today as we face the same foe"

Re: Little House on the Praire.
Kezib removes his backpack and stowes it in the corner, hoping to see it again, after the day is through. Kneeling in a patch of sun, beaming through the window, Kezib says a quick prayer.

"Bringer of Light and of Life, please watch down upon us as we serve you. By your glory, we shall remain victorious in our quest to rid this earth of chaos. May you guide our strikes true and protect us from our chosen foe. If we are to fall, may you guide our spirits home safely.
Look down upon us now, Yelm and smile upon your humble servants!"

Kezib remains kneeling for a moment, seemingly transfixed on a spot on the wall. Then he slowly raises to his feet, ready for battle.

Sangraal removes his pack as well and tightens the leather strap that keeps his holy symbol around his neck. He also takes the mysterious bronze disk from his pack holds it at the ready.

Re: Little House on the Praire.
Draxim re enters. He blushes after looking at Ruig, and then turns to the rest. "I have been reminded that we are safer if we stick together. We've barricaded EVERY entrance exept the North as best we can. We know that the Broo like to surround and attack and will most likely come at us from all angles right? If we do things this way, they will get in through the North way first, allowing us some initial time to fight them at an advantage and with surprise. If they don't, it is no different than if we had all the doors barricaded right?"

Re: Little House on the Praire.
"Oh forget it those Broo are strong. They would probably just knock the door off the hinges anyway." HE retrieves the spikes and begins using them to spike things in place on the barricades. He will then Use Rope to tie things where he can and make things as secure as possible.

[That's good because the chairs won't make much of a barricade unless they are lashed together. -GM]

Defenses
Lets lash the chairs together and place them 5 feet back from the north door. Then place the heavy table 5 feet back from the south door.

Or If we place them running N - S along the line of the fireplace it will cut the house in half and we can fall back to whatever side we need to.

Re: Defenses
Draxim undoes all the ropes he just tied and helps Sangraal put things where he wants them and then helps him tie them back up and secure them with spikes/ropes whatever. His waiting position once all of this is done will be the same as it is on the map currently.

Yimris leans over and comments to Atan, "Why is it always easier to stay out of the planning?"

"Do we have an idea of what to do if the Broo come out of the west?"

Re: Defenses
[There was only a single jar of poisonous goo and it was enough to coat ten arrows. Yimris, Atan and Tagra each got three and Draxim scrounged what was left for a single crossbow bolt.]

Re: Defenses
So if I have beaten down all resistance then the baricades are set up so they face the doorways. We place them just behind the apex of the open door. That should break any charge and give us bonuses. Do we have enough spikes for the barricades?

Disclaimer: Broo may be smarter then they appear. If Broo enter through windows injuries may occur. Sangraal and the brotherhood of the dawn cannot be held liable for any deaths or injuries that may occur due to Broo entering through windows.

Re: Defenses
[ooc: Jesus, I feel like the John Candy character in Heavy Metal: "17 years of nothing, now twice in one day!" Sorry, I have been away from my machine all day. ]

Before he had climbed into the rafters Meneloss stached his pack in the communal pile. Meneloss listens to the debate below with some detatchment. He smiles at the interactions of his new companions.
Meneloss then says to his comrades at arms. "In the words of Eol my master: "A plan never survives first contact with the enemy. Be fluid like water quick as wind. Be strong as earth and fierce as fire. That is how we will beat them. It will be the swift sword of Ruglan Brooslayer. The might and fury of Urox in the arms of Ruig. The stout heart and brawny gristle of Draxim. The very fists and feet of Kezib! It will be Yelms light shining upon his chosen, Sangraal the Pious. The arrows of the Children of Viv, my brothers Yimris and Atan. The wiles and wisdom of Tagra. It will be Madragar's bravery and most excellent arcane arts. My charms and enscorcelments taught to me by Eol. It is with these that we have a chance my brothers at arms. I am honored to be here at this moment with such excellent company and truest of friends."

He is scanning the view out of the window (
Spot +4/Listen +4)
His face is taught with concentration. His mind is reviewing the runes and sigils from his curled, ancient scrolls. He quitely mouths the sounds which call forth eldritch powers to control the six elements of being.

Re: Defenses
From the north side of the house the distinct clop-clop of a running horse can be heard. Draxim peeks through the shutters and whispers, "it's Nrulias."

The watchman reins in his horse near the front door of the house and Draxim opens the shutters of his window. Nrulias leans down to speak through the opening.

"Kashan has returned. He said there are two groups of seven, one of boarheads, another of hyenas. Also, your elkhead is with them. All are moving swiftly, and coming for the farmlands. They should pass by here in an hour, maybe less."

Start the fire
Sangraal moves to set ablaze the wood he has stacked in the fireplace. Afterwards he figets with the padding in his helm to make sure the fit is snug. He move to take up his position.
Then relizes his mistake dashing over to the east window he glares out into the field. Even knowing where the Merek are hidden he is unable to discern there exact location.
"Blazing sun! They are to far out. Only now do I feel them and it is distant. I misinformed the Merek. I will have to stay close to this corner of the building to ensure that they recieve Yelms Benediction when the time comes. Kezib, Draxim can one of you cover the Northern barricade. I will move to help once the broo have attacked."

[OOC: Move Sangraal 4 South and 1 East. To the bottom right corner of the building.
Sangraal will crouch in the corner hiding, trying to make sure he can't be seen in the window.
Sangraal has dropped his pack in the south-eastern corner of the building.
Sangraal keep the scroll on him.
Sangraal quickly sets up a simple hand signal with the rest of the group to let everyone know if the broo are approuching.
Sangraal is hiding taking 20
Sangraal is listening
Sangraal is readying a spell to go off as soon the broo attack the building. Trigger action Bless - all allies 50' +1 to hit and fear save lasts 10 minutes
