Re: Das Map
[Sorry I meant E or W side of each door for the hinges. In other words when the door swings open there will be cover on either the E or the W side. So for each door do they open like this: ___ \___ or like this ___/ ___ See what I mean?]

Re: Das Map
Atan:

"It's Tagra," Tagra corrects. "It might be wise to be on one side of the house or the other. They'll likely split up once they hit the house, sending their pack around each side. We can then snipe at a smaller group of them and maybe stay hidden a little longer."

The farmhouse is the 3rd to the west of Werthyn, represented by the larger green square that is closest to the forest. The broo will almost certainly come from the south or the southeast.

Draxim:

The doors open inward from the east to the west, so ___\___.

Re: Das Map
[Just to make sure: With me at the front window, I will get no cover from the door right? Also how high off the floor is the bottom of the window, and how high off the ground from the outside?]

[You will get no cover from the front/north door if you are at the window. However, you have both a table and several chairs. The chairs could be lashed together to form a makeshift barricade. The windows are three feet from the floor on the inside, and four feet from the ground on the outside. - GM]

Re: Das Map
Draxim makes sure that the shutters are closed but not latched and that the window is open. He whispers up to Meneloss, "you forgot to tell us who is to take care of your snake." Then he smiles a nervous smile, meant to reassure.

Re: Das Map
Looking around the room, Kezib starts to feel a little claustraphobic.
"For me to be truly effective in the fight, I need more space. I could hide in the wheat, then after the initial birage of arrows, I could attack from behind, while the Broo are preoccupied with getting inside the building, does anyone have any objections to that?"

Barricade
Draxim places the table on end facing N - S against the jamb and spikes it down. He lashes the chairs and places them behind it. This createa a funnel with the door so that only one or two can get in at a time. He spikes the door so it can only open 90 degrees and now we have nice little chute for them to go through where we can fire arrows at them and drop rocks on them, but they have to get through Madragar and Ruig (or jump the table) to get in. Meantime we are shooting them as well as facing them with our strong guys.

[AFC till 1 pm or so sorry]

[This is for the south door or the north door? What preparations will be made for the one that is not barricaded? - GM]

Battle positions
"Atan setting up in advance of the farm would only give away the suprise if you attacked them before they got to the house. Set up on the flanks and wait for them to be comitted to attacking the house. Most likely the leader will present itself at that time since I doubt it would perticipate on the intial charge into the house. Leaving the Merek a fine shot at the leader/spellcasters.
Do not worry about us in the house. Kezib and I can hold our own, and Master Dwarf Draxim wields a fine weapon." Sangraal holds up his own mornigstar in salute of the dwarf.

" The key I believe is to get them to commit to attacking the house."

[OOC: Do not set up your battle positions in anticipation of a bless spell. We should set up in the most adventagous spots. If the bless spell is going to be cast, Sangraal will move to the best location to effect as many as possible.]

Re: Battle positions
[OOC: Now might be the best time for everybody to declare where they will be so we can make sense of this.]

" Kezib, feel free to jump out of the windows once the fight begins, but stay inside till the broo are committed to attacking. The merek are skilled at masking sight and scent so lets let them do there job. To many people out in the fields will only lead to the Broo being spooked to early."

Re: Battle positions
I've updated the map with locations for everyone. If you want to move just tell me how far: three south, four east for instance.

Re: Battle positions
"Well, once the battle begins, it would be rather hard, and disadvantageous for us, for me to jump out of the window. I agree that the Merek are more skilled at hiding. So be it, I shall stay within the walls and do my best"

Pig Roast
Is the pig spitted and roasting over the fire? I assume all in the house are hiding, staying away from the windows? Any chance we can get the chairs or table for a makeshift barricade for the north door? Seems everyone is expecting them to come in only from the south.

Re: Pig Roast
[The pig is spitted but the fire is not lit, although there are plenty of combustibles inside the house.

There is a single smallish table and three wooden chairs. There seems to be some disagreement as to where the barricade, or barricades, should be.]

Re: Pig Roast
Are there enough conbustables to have the pig buring for the night? If not Then we need to gather some wood. Though I fear it might be to late for that. As to the barricades, we must use them the best we can. The chairs and table should be split up. To make a baricade 5 feet infront of each door. This will give cover to those who defend it. We must assume these broo will not attack blindly or stupidly. We should also cover the windows so they cannot spy in on us.

Sangraal will start collect wood if its needed and if its not to late in the day. What time is it? Are the Merek already hiding? No light sources in the house except for the fire until they attack, if they attack at night. Sangraal will call upon the Yelm to light the building if needed.

Re: Pig Roast
There is a small pile of firewood stacked outside the back door. Sangraal gathers enough to last through the night. It is currently around noon.

Re: Pig Roast
Since we are fairly certain that they will come from the south, let's put the chute on the north door and barricade the south door. this will delay them, and alert us (although we will most likely know by then anyway). Once the chute is built, Draxim ties a trip wire to the edge of the door and the edge of the table. That way if they try to plow through the table they will close the door on themselves or those behind them...

_____.....______ door ______
................|..../......|
...........table|___/.......|
.................trip.......|
.................rope.......|

All other openings are barricaded.

[At least that's my idea.....]

Re: Pig Roast
[Speaking of obstructions, each door has a simple wooden bar to keep it closed. However, as anyone that was at Grugni's house during the last broo attack can confirm, such a defense won't last long against the broo.]

Re: Pig Roast
[Just to clarify, the north door would also start out closed, but maybe just barred wheras the south door will be more seriously barricaded (chairs stones etc.) Are there any objections to any of this?]

Punji Pig Roast
Atan decides to build some camoflagued punji pits around their defesive position if he has enough time. Place one directly west of Yimris, another west of Tagra, another south of Targa [Tagra -GM], another SE of Targa [Tagra -GM] and one SE of Atan. Total of 5.

[When its time to get ready for the impending attack, Kezib will position himself at the northwest corner of the room, away from the window but able to see both doors.]
