Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Ruig cuts in with a harsh whisper, "damn babbling elf. Keep your voice down. We aren't alone down here."

Gymnastics

Bow pointed downward, arrow still nocked, Atan hugs close to the northern wall of the archway. "I guess the walls looks to smooth to climb," Atan mummbles to Ruglan. "If there is no obvious easy way, a human pyramid should work. Three humans, two elves, a monk and a nimble dwarf should do the trick."

Re: Gymnastics
Draxim removes his pack, etc. to prepare for the climb. (Climb +3 when lightly encumbered) "I'll show you strong enough" he says to Meneloss. He bends down to find some dirt to rub on his hands then realizes it is unnecessary. He examines the door carefully trying to discern whether it will open in or out. that could be important with everyone stacked up against it he thinks (timber!). He is also looking for anything unusual. Such as chillserpents.

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Draxim cracks his knuckles, spits on his hands, kicks the dirt off his shoes, does a few quick calisthenics, then tries to climb up the sheer surface of the stone wall. Not unlike an ant trying to climb its way out of a bottle, Draxim tries to find purchase on non-existent cracks in the stonework.

As the powerfully built dwarf is huffing and puffing with exertion, Madragar quietly steps up behind him. Uttering a quick incantation he produces a dead spider from a leather bag at his waist. Crushing the spider between thumb and forefinger, the tatooed wizard touches Draxim lightly on the shoulder.

The dwarf shoots up the wall with alarming speed, and is almost to the limit of the lantern light before he realizes where he is.

Re: Gymnastics
[Very Funny. Alright i can see how you would read it that way, but I meant climbing up a pyramid of my freinds. thus the words "with everyone stacked up against it " No harm done though.]

Although alarmed at his sudden incredible climbing ability, Draxim recovers quickly. "We dwarves are at one with the stone you know. We are in tune with the living rock."
Draxim finds the well worn area and begins trying to figure it out / open it. He is of course looking for anything odd. Such as traps. Seeing none he will attempt to activate the mechanism, with a quick prayer for luck to Urox.

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Yimris seems to wake out of a light doze, notices the dwarf clinging to the wall and decides that prudence is the better part of valor. He walks at least 20 ft. away so if the dwarf falls, or well... explodes he should be out of range.

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Meneloss will shift his glance from Draxim to the doorway (at least where he expects the doorway to be). He wields his sword in a defensive posture with his torch held high and pointing forward.
He whispers loud enough for Atan to hear "Mayhaps your bow is needed here Quende."

Behind the Green Door
Atan looks back over his right shoulder at Meneloss' call. Seeing Draxim twenty feet up the wall, he turns back and lightly taps Ruglan's shield. When the human warrior looks he motions towards the secret door.

Moving quickly back down the hall he meets up with Meneloss. Quickly he whispers what they saw, "Another large room at the end of the hall. Looks to be a guest quarters cause all the furniture is human sized. The Broo tore the place up pretty good. Two ways out on the opposite side. Couldn't make anything else of it."

Atan whistels low to get Yimris' attention, and motions for everyone to spread out around the door. He takes a spot against the wall centered opposite the door and turns his body so that he faces east so he can still see the far archway and partially see whatever is revealed behind the door.

[I figure the hall is 30 feet wide and the door appears to be 20. As long as it does not fall forward I should be safe.]

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
[Sorry, I forgot. Sangraal's light slowly dims, then is extinguished.]

The well armed band of explorers fan out in a semicircle around the door. Elven eyes dart here and there: to the door, the archways, the darkness. Above, Draxim scuttles down to where Meneloss first saw the worn depressions in the wall and easily finds the seams of an indented stone. The dwarf searches it thoroughly and, finding nothing resembling a trap, pushes against it.

The indentation moves slightly under his touch. Draxim pushes harder and the rectangle of well worn stone slides inward several inches and goes no further. There is no sound to indicate the door's release but moments later the enormous slab silently pivots outward into the hall several feet, exposing a darkened space beyond. Without moving the door further there is room for everyone to slip through into the shadows.

Draxim peers through the crack and whispers "a landing, then more stairs down. No small stairs though, so it'll be a rough climb."

Re: Behind the Green Door
Whispering quietly "Draxim has suceeded in opening the door, it is doubtful the broo have located this secret door. Let us go maybe the giant suceeded in reaching sanctuary for a corpse that large we could not have missed. Come we should not tarry."
With that said Sangraal indicates to Atan that he is falling back and heads through the secret door.

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Meneloss steps forth holding his torch aloft. Once through the doorway, he looks for a similar opening mechanism on the opposite side. He sheaths his sword quietly.
As he waits for the rest of his compaions, Meneloss sips his waterskin. Despite his nervousness the elf is getting very hungry since expelling his breakfast earlier. He reaches into his pack and pulls out a hard biscuit and gnaws on it. The dry bread with sips of cool water sooth his upset stomach and help to eliminate the lingering taste of bile.

"I wonder if there are more secret rooms. Ruig, with all respect to Boahur, he is venerable and wise yet very old. Could he have been mistaken? If not then there are certainly more rooms in Koreaus' hall."

Re: Behind the Green Door
Atan waits for everyone to pass through the door before he follows. Once inside he stops on the top of the stairs and looks upwards towards Draxim. Whispering aloud, "Is there a mechanism to close it?"

[OOC - Is there any tracks or blood on the stairs?]

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
Draxim's description was accurate. Just inside the door is a square landing twenty feet on a side with another giant stairway descending to the north. The dangling dwarf slides past the door after everyone is through, but cannot see any mechanism similar to the one on the outside of the door. There is, however, an enormous iron pull ring on the inside of the door. It is about five feet in diameter and hangs in the center of the door, around twenty feet up.

Re: Behind the Green Door
Confering with the others, "Pull ring huh? For better or for worse, I am not sure we can close it. And if even we could, I don't know if we have the strength to open it again from this side."

Looking up at the pull ring he whispers to Draxim, "Tie a rope to the ring and we will see if we can move it."

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
[The door a single slab which pivots on a central point right?]

"We can push on the opposing side, while others pull the rope attached to the ring. Koreaus was mighty indeed but whoever built this door used incredible balance. Am I not correct Draxim, Ruig?"

"Once the rope is tied to the ring, we can use that as an anchor to splice our other ropes together so we can get down yon staircase."

Re: B1: In Search of the Unknown
[The door pivots at a point near its eastern terminus. The opening mechanism was on the wall to the west of it.]

Draxim crosses the gap between the wall and the door, creeps over to the huge iron ring, and fastens his rope to it. After a little experimentation, the group finds that it requires surprisingly little effort to move the door by pulling on the ring, and once closed it can be opened again by pushing on it.
