Re: Anybody smell a wet dog?
[Atan tries to discern if it is the black speech of Broo or if it is some other language (He does not speak it of course but I assume it to be a fairly unique language). He will also try and determine the number creatures that maybe on the other side.]
Listen +6 (+7 vs Broo)

Re: Anybody wet a small dog?
Ruglan, very slowly and carefully, removes his cold weather gear and stows it in his pack, which he leaves on the ground.

Re: Old Kurlew
Kezib will slowly and silently take a few steps back, avoiding any pitfalls, and unlatches his staff. He will also slowly remove his pack and cloak and place the pack on the floor, then puts his cloak in the pack.
He then leaves the pack and readies himself.

Re: Anybody smell a wet dog?
Draxim tries to assess whether this wall/door would be any easier to climb for the purpose of putting a rope through the ring. Quietly.
[Is it 20 feet to the bottom of the ring?]

One ring to rule them all...
Meneloss sees his burly Dwarven pal eyeing up the ring and the surrounding walls with his hands grabbing the massive coil of hemp. He moves silently over to Draxim and gesticulates. He shakes his index finger at the dwarf. He then points to the door and pantomimes a push. He then looks at whomever is nearby and shrugs with his right arm, the left one still bearing aloft the sputtering flickering torch.

Re: Old Kurlew
[About 15' to the bottom of the ring, but this door is no easier to climb than the last. Koraeus, apparently, likes a nice, clean line in his architecture.]
Atan listens intently but the thickness of the door prevents him from discerning the identity or number of those on the other side.

Re: Old Kurlew
[Scott, I want to make sure I understand this situation. We were on a ledge at a chasm, but turned back from that ledge and traveled east, where we have arrived at a large door. Behind the door we hear scraping and talking. Is that correct?]
Madragar also sets down his pack, arms his crossbow and sets his quarterstaff within easy reach. He shows by signs that he would like to be up front but at the side to fire a single shot and allow the warriors to pass him by at the start of the fight.

Re: Old Kurlew
[Actually you travelled along the ledge to the east until you met a tunnel into the eastern chasm wall, but otherwise your perception is accurate.]

Re: Old Kurlew
Thwarted by the thick stone door Atan turns his attention back to the party. Seeing everyone dropping non-essential gear and reading weapons, he too checks to ensure his arrow is nocked true.
Pointing to Ruglan, Ruig, Sangraal and Yimris he motions for them to step forward and prepare there weapons quietly. Then he indicates that Madragar, Draxim and himself to ready missile weapons and be the closest to the door. Lastly he points to Meneloss and Kazib to push open the door. His plan is rudimentary. The missiliers will step into the room and shoot. The four skirmishers will charge around the missiliers and engage.
Once everyone is arranged he holds up his hand to wait. Going over to Meneloss he whispers in his ear, "Can your scaley friend find a way through a crack maybe?"

Re: Old Kurlew
[Alright I am confused. you said it's a pull ring but that the door pushes open?]
Draxim follows Atan's direction, loading his crossbow and making sure the battle axe is limbered up in his belt for a quick deployment. he also makes sure of a couple extra bolts in easy reach.

Re: Old Kurlew
[Once the door is open, the ring is used to close it again. Simple.]
[If any other preparations are to be made, now is the time.]

Re: Old Kurlew
Thinking quickly, Madragar retrieves a 50' coil of rope from his pack and slings it over his shoulder. Then he returns to the firing line and waits for Atan's signal.

Re: Old Kurlew
Kezib, looking to the Heavens, says a quick prayer to Yelm, then turns to Meneloss, nods his head and moves to the door, not pushing it yet.

Heeeeere's Johhny!
Meneloss unlimbers his pack, careful to keep his scrollcase on his person strapped across his back like a quiver. He holds his torch back and away from the door and places his right hand on the edge of the door. At Atan's question, he shakes his head "no" to indicate he won't put Angewitta at risk.
Looking back at his companions, he waits for Atan's signal to push the door open with all his might.
[I take the order to be Meneloss and Kezib pushing open the door, followed by Atan, Draxim and Madragar with missile weapons, with the rest behind them... Sangraal you have a javelin yes?...]

Re: Old Kurlew
Sangraal silently removes his pack and places out of the way against the wall. Sangraal checks to make sure the bronze disk is still secured to his belt, ready for use at at instants notice. Backing up, Sangraal quietly whispers a prayer to Yelm. Sangraal slides any packs in his way with his foot until they are flush with the wall where they won't trip anybody. Satisfied he drops his helm into place and hefts his flail up.
Steadying himself, he quickly gestures the now familiar Sign Lumina with a free hand before tensing up for the charge.
[OOC: If we can't here more then tapping then they can't here us, if we get into a fight we might lose our torches, so Sangraal will back up about 50' and quietly asks for the blessed light of yelm.
cast Light: flail head 10 minutes]
