Down Down Down, the party's going down
[Am I out of it totally or just hurt real bad?]

[Atan is swimming in a vast sea of pain. Even the blood pulsing through his veins hurts. He could have been on the ground for a year or a few seconds, he can't really tell. He's not even sure where he is or how he got there. He is down, cannot move and is drifting in and out of consciousness. Oh, and he has a punctured lung. -GM]

Re: Old Kurlew, Part II
[ Dude, blood gurgling out of your mouth is generally considered a bad sign. I think I'll hold off on making a new character for a little bit to see what's left of the party first.

I do have to wonder if Yimris' charge first, ask questions later policy has spread out to poison everyone else. ]

Enough.
Madragar points the crossbow at the dwarf's head from some ten feet away. His voice is strained and as he talks it slips from the educated tones of the magus to the low-born argot of the fisherfolk.

"It would be a mistake to think because I spared your life I will not take it now. My friends are dying and I have no time to engage in banter with a truculent dwarf. Tell me what I wish to know, or by the Sea Hag's breath I'll pin your god-cursed skull to that wall!"

Re: Enough.
The dwarf is totally unphased by (yet another) threat from his captors. He folds his arms and stares at Madragar with calm determination.

[Ruglan, and please be very specific about what you want to do next.]

Re: Enough.
Ruglan, grimmacing with pain from the sword wound, moves to the ladder that Atan and Meneloss climbed. He goes up the ladder and tries to grab Atan's fallen body and drag it back down to the 3rd step. "Meneloss! come back down here!" he shouts. "Legionaire, won't you sheath your sword and parlay with us? We will remain on this lower step."

Re: Enough.
Ruglan (being prone at the beginning of the round) only manages to get up to the fourth step and drag Atan back out of harms way, but not down to the third step. Though Ruglan is quite vulnerable while he and the morally wounded elf are making their retreat, the legionnaire lets them go.

Concentrating on the foes at hand, the soldier moves confidently against the wounded priest of Yelm. Almost casually the legionnaire raises his shield to block Sangraal's weapon and stabs him quickly in the belly. The priest's light armor is no match for such a powerful thrust and the leather splits open, permitting the crimson blade into Sangraal's abdomen. Groaning in agony he sinks to the ground, his blood mixing with that of Kezib and Atan.

[Sangraal is badly wounded but can still make a partial action each round.]

Re: Enough.
[Is Kezib the second to go way of the do do bird?]

[That remains to be seen. And by the way, the dodo bird did not go extinct by being stabbed to death with a shortsword. -GM]

[I was just meaning the extinction part. I watched Ice Age so I know how they went extinct]

Re: Enough.
All thoughts of getting Atan to safty vanish in a blinding thrust of pain and suddenly Sangraal is aware of the ground rushing up to meet him.
The clamor of steel falls away replaced by the disquieting sound of silence. His flail falls from his grasp, his hands instinctly moving to cover the wound.
"Yelm.." he calls.
Falling into a trancelike state his voice deepening, Sangraal stuggles through the Psalm of purification.

Re: Enough.
[Oh dear...]

Sangraal, laying in a pool of blood, raises one hand, reaching for a sky hidden by tons of indifferent stone. His prayer is answered and the Sun God infuses the priest with healing power, his hand glowing with divine energy.

The legionnaire is startled by the incantation and attacks immediately, plunging his blade into Sangraal's chest. Blood spirts from the wound and the priest is dashed to the flagstones and lays there, motionless.

"Who is that guy? He's no ordinary legionary! Is he?" Draxim asks of the surly dwarf and his empire-wise companion.
"Get out of there!" he shouts to his companions on the stairs. "Ruig help them! Let him go!"

Re: Astral Travel
Meneloss is barely able to keep his sword in his hand. He looks at the carnage around him. Seeing no way his unskilled hand can penetrate the defences of this soldier who could have easily killed the entire party, Meneloss sheaths his sword. He then drops to the ground and hangs over the ledge of the stair. He lets go and rolls with the fall.

Re: Astral Travel
Ruig chants quickly in his native tongue over the unconscious form of Kezib. The words are familiar, and flow smoothly over his lips, but the prayer is not enough to revive Kezib. Blood isn't flowing so freely from his wounds, but he remains unconscious.

Luck ability
Would the luck ability (+1) have saved Sangraal? I am admitadly drawing at straws.

[Hmmm... not really. -GM]

Meneloss makes it down onto the lower step without being run through by the legionnaire's blade. The soldier makes no move to prevent his retreat.

Locations
Ruglan is currently on the fourth step with the unconscious Atan, the unconscious Sangraal, and the very conscious legionnaire. Ruig, Meneloss and Kezib (unconscious) are on the third step. The dwarf, Madragar and Draxim are on the floor at the base of the stairs.

Ruglan will try to pass Atan's poor body down to the 3rd step and try to grab Sangraal's profusely bleeding fleshbag and drag it back towards the ladder.

Re: Locations
The legionnaire stands tall above the bloody ruin of his adversaries while Ruglan drags them away. He is able to lower both Sangraal and Atan's fleshbags down to Meneloss.

"Madragar, you speak the empire talk, tell him that he is a mighty warrior, and to go away now and we will stop peppering him with crossbow bolts." Draxim reloads and fires at the tall-standing target.
